6115, shipping examples

Hello all,
I recently purchased the PCI-6115 multifunctional DAQ card. So far I have had no problem with my analogue inputs, but I can't seem to create any analogue output driving waveforms. I am sure the problem is with my code, so I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get some example vi's for the PCI-6115 card. I have read about some shipping vi's on the NI page but I can't seem to find where to download them.
Thanks,
Azazel

Thanks Stuart,
I was previously using NI-DAQ 7.3 which had very limited PCI6115 examples, but I downloaded and installed 7.4 then used your idea and low and behold there are plenty of examples.
Thanks,

  • Unnecessary Code - Directory Hierarchy in Tree Control.vi Shipping Example

    Hello,
Can you guys take a look at the shipping example Directory Hierarchy in Tree Control.vi (---\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2010\examples\general\controls\Tree Control Directory.llb\Directory Hierarchy in Tree Control.vi on my machine) and let me know if you see some unnecessary code?  I see what seems to be two different updates of the same front panel control in the TRUE frame of the case structure in the middle of the diagram.  I can't think of the reason why you would need both updates of the Path to Start the Search control.  I think one of the updates would be good enough.
    Thanks!

  • The best shipping Example

I've run across what may be the best shipping example in LabVIEW, that is if your .dll’ly challenged like me.
It’s an example called "Call DLL.vi". You can find through the Example Finder or directly at "...National Instruments\LabVIEW 7.1\examples\dll\data passing\Call Native Code.llb\Call DLL.vi".
This VI lists all the C and C++ data types and their LabVIEW equivalents. Each data type has
an example VI that demonstrates the use of the Call Library Function Node for that data type. It also shows the C source code for that function in the dll and some note/cautions to be aware of when using that data type.
It first shipped with 7.0 and is also in 7.1.
Kudos to the NI person that wrote this fine example. If you’re at NIWeek this year, look me up some evening in the exhibition hall and I’ll "buy" you beer.

Using the Abort button to stop your VI is like using a tree to stop your car. It works, but there may be consequences.

I'll have to see if I can find the older example. I have to write a bunch of dll wrappers in LabVIEW 6 and this one won't convert directly because it uses dynamic events. It wouldn't be that hard to rewrite though. I guess I could always just keep 7.1 open on the side for reference.

  • ANSI C shipping examples for the NI-DAQmx C API are installed

ANSI C shipping examples for the NI-DAQmx C API are installed as part of the language support and are available under Program Files\National Instruments\NI-DAQ\Examples\DAQmx ANSI C.
I can not locate the examples
I did install the software and
Program Files\National Instruments\NI-DAQ\ does exist but no examples

    Hi asterof,
I am not sure exactly which examples you are referring to in the ANSI C directory (dsp, dsw), but I believe that all of the examples were written in Visual C++ 6. Along with the C code, each example contains a Visual C++ 6 Project file and a Visual C++ 6 Workspace file.
Keep me posted if you have additional questions.

  • Where are the example files?

    hi all,
I have  the full labview 8.5 developer edition installed on my computer, however i have the book labview 8 student edition (includes 8.2) that i am trying to learn from.  the difficulty is i do not seem to have the example files mentioned in the book and i cannot locate them on the student edition cd.  can someone please point me to where i might find them?  thanks!
    dave

    Hi Dave,
Can you tell me the name of one of the examples you can't find?  And you are sure that you are checking the NI Example Finder (Help » Find Examples...)?  Additionally, some our shipping examples are installed with our drivers, you may have to install some of our drivers to see the examples you are looking for.  If you are able to find the website for the book, the examples may also be found there.

  • Where can I find an example of a vi which reads a xml file using the Labview schema (LVXMLSchema.xsd)?

Where can I find an example of a vi which reads a xml file using the Labview schema (LVXMLSchema.xsd)?
Unflatten From XML is of little use in parsing because it requires the data type. So it seems that the user has to parse each data value, and then Unflatten From XML can help a little.
I would like to see NI provide a VI for parsing its own schema.

LabVIEW's XML functions are another way of saving data from controls and indicators that is in a more standardized format. If you look at the Unflatten From XML shipping example, it shows taking the data that you would normally send to a Digital Wveform Graph and converting it to XML instead. This data is then unflattend from XML and wired to the graph. Since you know what you wrote to the file, this is an easy thing to do. If what you are looking for is a way to look at any data in any LabVIEW XML file, then you are right, there is not a VI for that. However, I do not believe that that was the intention of the XML functions in the first place.
By wiriting data in XML, this allows other applications outside of LabVIEW to parse and recognize the dat
    a. In LabVIEW, you would already know the types and can place a generic item of that type. The issue of knowing the type is that you need to know the type of the wire that comes out of the Unflatten function so that the VI will compile correctly. You could always choose a variant value to unflatten and then do some parsing to take the variant a part. Maybe this will help you out.
See this example for using the Microsoft parser for XML. (http://venus.ni.com/stage/we/niepd_web_display.DISPLAY_EPD4?p_guid=B123AE0CB9FE111EE034080020E74861&p_node=DZ52050&p_submitted=N&p_rank=&p_answer=)

  • Examples of Transducer Impedance measurements using NI 4552.

Are there any examples available for Impedance Calculations from Voltage and Current Data taken from NI 4552 acquisitions?

    Hello,
I would recommend taking a look at the LabVIEW shipping example for NI-DSA called "Frequency Response Example.VI" You could measure the voltage across the circuit using channel 0, and then use a current transducer (probably just a precision resistor) to measure current on channel 1. The results of this calculation would give you the impedence at various frequencies. By switching between magnitude and phase views, you can examine the resistive and reactive components of the impedance.
    Good luck!

  • Is there an example somewhere that shows how to acquire StillColor images using IMAQ Vision calls?

I need to be able to acquire images from both composite and RGB channels. I am also confused of how to display them and modify display settings as go from color to grayscale to binary.Thanks.

    Jerry,
I have attached a CVI example for doing stillcolor acquisition. If you are using LabVIEW, there should also be shipping examples for stillcolor acquisition under labview\examples\imaq\imaq color.llb
To configure your imaq board for stillcolor acquisition, please refer to the following KB

  • Avi read write example : playback missing chunk of data at regular intervals

    Hi,
I am writing a waveform data into avi write in order to read back (with has data input on) as in example avi read write with data shipping example but the graph played back is missing some amount of data at regular intervals and hence the waveform read back is choppy.
I am writing the same data into tdms also. when i read back it with tdms file viewer, it shows that it has entire data.
note: i am writing the waveform data and avi in two seperate loops and using the porperty node value of the waveform data in the video loop in order to insert data into avi write (has data input on) and have the (wait ms multiple) input =10 in both loops
i would like to post the video but it is 50 MB, is it possible to upload that much.
can any one help me how/why this is happening..
    Thanks,

Can you post a VI(s) as I have trouble understanding what you are doing
Besides which, my opinion is that Express VIs Carthage must be destroyed deleted

  • From Labview 7.1 help, can't load example vi's

    Quick question:
When in Labview 7.1 Help, I can no longer load example vi's. I receive a message: "An error occurred – The NI HelpServer could not be found."
A search on the NI website finds this issue listed & a solution given for Labview version 7.0. It is suggested to:
Solution: NI HelpServer is one of two services which open TCP/IP ports to communicate with other NI applications running on your computer, such as the NI Example Finder and the LabVIEW Help. By default, LabVIEW 7.0 will launch this service at startup, however, if it has been disabled you will get this error message. In order to enable the HelpServer, navigate to C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 7.0\resource\system and run the HelpServer.llb. On the front panel of the Set HelpServer Config Settings__NATIONAL INSTRUMENTS.vi you will see a boolean control to enable the server. Turn this switch on and run the VI. The LED indicator in the HelpServer.vi will turn on and you will be able to access the shipping examples from the NI Example Finder.
One finds a HelpServer.llb / HelpServer Config Settings routine in Labview 7.1 as well, and after setting the LED green, the new error message reads:
Error 63 occured while trying to open this example using the NI Example VI Finder.
    Help!

    Hi Targa,
Please make sure that you are not blocking the "Port Used" by other applications or firewalls. You might also want to stop and restart the HelpServer.vi several times to access an available port.
Let me know if you keep getting the error.

  • Need help with problem using sound and vibration examples. question repost

I am generating a wav file using the sound and vibration example vi "SVXMPL_Wav Recorder(DAQmx)" using a ni 7422 board.  Then, using the example vi SVXMPL_Getting started with SVT(Simulated)" attempting to play back that file.  the wav file will load and play back on the graphs fine but when I click the "Play Wav File" which sends the audio to the computers speaker,  I get the error "Cannot recognise sound Format".  It plays the shipped example files fine.  I can also play the wav files I generate on a Windows audio player.  Don't know a lot about the sound and vibration toolkit or wav file formats but need to get these two to work together.  Using LV 8.5 and sound and vibration toolkit 4.0.  This is a bit of a repost of the same question ask last week but not answered.  Thanks

  • Where Can I find Nonlinear Calibration Example.llb?

    Hi,
I have LV 2010 and 2012 installed with Vision Development Module 2010 and 2012. I have looked everywhere for Nonlinear Calibration Example.llb but cannot find it. It is supposed to be at Examples\Vision\2. Functions\Calibration. I have checked two other computers that have LV 2010 and VDM 2010 installed and they are missing this llb as well. Can someone let me know where I can download it? Thanks!

  • Error Code: -310606 - example "shift.lvproj" for Spartan 3E doesn't compile

    Hello !
I'm new to Labview so I tried to use a project that I found on the web (trafficlight) and it worked perfectly. But it was a little too complicated, so I took a project that I found in the project explorer Help : Shift.lvproj. I tried to compile the shift.vi but I always have the same error :
LabVIEW FPGA called another software component, and that component returned the following error:
    Error Code: -310606
NI-COBS:  Access to an FPGA device address has timed out.
Please verify that the communication cable is plugged securely into your computer and target, and verify that the target has power. If the target has a removable clock, verify that the clock is present and running.
I think the cable and the clock are fine as I could run two other projects of my own.
    My configuration : Labview 2011 SP1
NI DE FPGA Board plugged on NI ELVIS II+ (but I don't actually use ELVIS)
Thank you for your help !

This error comes from attempts to download and communicate with the VI on the actual FPGA, not from the compilation aspect. We can take a look and check to see if we can recreate the issue with the shipping example.  Otherwise, you could manually try to right-click on the FPGA bitfile buildspec and tell LabVIEW to recompile the bitfile manually and see if that fixes the problem or not.

  • A simple tcp or udp example for ARM embedded

  • PXI-2530 Matrix Control Examples

I am searching for examples that show how to control the PXI-2530 as a 8x16 Matrix. I searched but was unable to locate code to help.

    Dennis_Knutson wrote:
There are a couple of shipping examples in LabVIEW that say they work with the 2530. Where did you search? For example, the niSwitch Making Connections on a Switch.vi. You would have to manually enter the channel names but you can select the topology from a combo box. The channel names are just cx and rx as you can read from the NI-Switch help.
I second that!  I have created several different applications using the PXI-2530 in the 8X16 matrix topology. I built the row and column designators mathematically from for loop indices and pre-programmed them as array constants. The rows are identified by "r0" thru "r7" and the columns are identified by "c0" thru "c15".
