6120 classic alarm/reminders time out

Not sure I placed this topic in the right spot - but I need some help with my nokia 6120 classic.
I have many reminders, as my memory is not very good. Sometimes the alarm is set to go off 6 o'clock every morning to remind om of a reoccuring event - but in the weekends I don't get up at that early hour but still let the alarm go off at six.
On my regular Nokias this has worked fine, as when I finally get up and about, the alarm is still visible on the phone (and below this alarm the rest I might have set) - ensuring I remember what I have to.. I just press the alarm to see the task or appointment and read and dismiss. As I have a condition, thus the lack of memory, it's important these functions work.
On 6120 - the alarms and reminders timeout after xx times (approx. 6-8?) leaving me clueless when I get up or get near the phone. I could solve it partly by placing the alarm at a time where I know for sure I'm up or near the phone to hear the alarm - but that's impossible. I cannot always be sure I'm nearby - and I need the alarms to not timeout, in order to be sure to see the reminders.
Now - do any of you know if there is an option to change this in the phone (I haven't found one) or if there is software to change this? I've googled, but can't seem to find anything....

SBSH reminders - it collects all reminders from calendar and alarm, there are options to set alarms to go on "until released", a list of upcoming alarms, list of snoozed alarms and list of missed alarms.

Does the alarm ever time out?

I have the alarm set daily to wake me up for work. Tonight I accidentally left my phone at work and it's not convenient for me to go back and get it before I go to work tomorrow morning. If it goes off in the morning, will it keep going indefinitely until "Dismiss" is selected? I always turn it off right away and have no idea how long it can go on for.
Hoping I don't have to rush in at the crack of dawn so it doesn't bother all my early-bird coworkers!

Dsc, alarm query time out

I'm using LabVIEW 2009 SP1 with DSC-Module. Today I had trouble using the "Alarm&Event Qurey.vi" to read data from the citadel database. The Query worked well for days and delivered the data quickly. Well today it didn't, instead it delivered a time out and it didn't help to set the time out value parameter to higher values (normally I use the default value, 30s). It did not help to restart my application, nor LabVIEW, nor Windows (XP, by the way). It simply stopped working.
Then I tried my luck using the MAX and its Historical Data Viewer to retrieve the logged alarms and, unexpected, this worked! And after that, like there was magic in the air, the "Alarm&Event Query.vi" worked also again!
So, this doesn't feel very reliable. I do not interact with the citadel database using other ways than the Query vi and the Library-/SharedVariable-Settings (writing to the data base is managed by the shared variable engine).
Did someone experience the same problem and can I prevent this behavior somehow?

Unfortunately it seems that this behavior is not reproducible.
Has the error occurred again since your last post?
I checked our internal database and I was not able to find any hints, that this is a common issue.
Could you please post the important section of your code, if the error appears again?
So we can dive a little bit more into detail.

When connected via USB, my Ipod Classic 160GB mounts as a disc drive, then changes to a white drive. When iTunes automatically opens, it crashes trying to mount and/ or sync. When it times out, my only choice is to restore, but that doesn't fix problem.

I'm running OS 10.6.8 on my 3.06 GHz iMac Intel Core 2 Duo.   I recently upgraded to iTunes 10.5.2. I'm not sure when the trouble started but I attempted a restore when the iPod would not play correctly. It would start to play a file and get stuck on 0 seconds. If I put the iPod on shufle, it will stall on 0 seconds for 15 seconds or so and then move on to the next track and stall again and so on.   Seemingly randomly, it will play a few tracks but eventually start skipping again. This will continue until the battery is depleted which is fairly quick since the drive is constantly spinning.
My 160GB iPod Classic after restore attempts now is up to date with 2.0.4. and of course, nothing works as it should and I would say the skipping issue is worse than ever.
When I connect with any of three USB connectors, the iPod mounts to the desktop as a grey/silver disk drive picon exactly like the Macintosh HD picon.   Then Finder will stall for a few minutes- spinning pinwheel. Somehow, the dock is never affected and I am able to open other applications like Safari or tab through open windows- just no action on the desktop. Eventually, iTunes automatically opens and Finder becomes responsive again. At this point the grey drive picon on the desktop becomes a white drive mount picon, but the iPod does not mount in iTunes, yet. At some point, the iPod attempts to sync, iTunes crashes with the spinning pinwheel and eventually times out and I am prompted to restore the iPod again. Once restored, the iPod properly mounts under devices in iTunes and, as I have done this several times, even occasionally changes to the regular iPod picon on the desktop.
I have restored several times going as far a completely deleting iTunes from my iMac, downloading the latest directly from Apple.com, and attempting to restore again, but to no avail.
I have even used the disk utility to verify and/or repair my Macintosh HD and iPod.
It seems lots of folks are going through this ordeal. Has anyone had any success in fixing the issue, even if only temporarily?

one more detail, after a restore, when I attempt to reload music to the ipod, if I try and move, say, 20 files, the transfer seems to work as it should but then stalls on the last file. Eventually, the status will change to "Updates Files on (my ipod)" a and suggests the iPod is syncing even though I have the auto sync feature turned off.
This process eventually works itself out, and seems to take longer relative to the number of files I attempt to transfer.   Once done, howver, if I try and eject and dismount the iPod, iTunes stalls with the spinning pinwheel and I am warned that the iPod is syncing again with the spinning candy cane status bar.     Eventually thisd works itself out and the iPod dismounts from iTunes and the desktop and eventually the iPod is free to disconnect.
Then if I try and play the music I just transfered, the iPod says there is no music loaded.
Ideas?

I recently dug out my old 160gb iPod Classic. Every time I connect it to iTunes, the program freezes and/or crashes. My computer recognizes that the iPod is plugged in, (it's accesible under "My Computer") but iTunes doesn't acknowledge it, at all. Help?

Does 6120 classic support TV out from the AV 2.5-m...

Since there is a outlet called "AV connector" on the Nokia 6120 classic, is it possible to use the Nokia AV cable "CA-75U", an accessory of N95, to output video footages to TV ? I would Love to purchase the CA-75U if it has this function. Thanks for any advices.

Korngear, I beg to differ: the 6220 classic supports TV out and has a 2.5mm AV out, the cable comes with the box.
As for the 6120c however, there is NO TV out support, as Psychomania said, the hardware to output video is missing.

Corrupted microSD card in 6120 classic

I have Nokia 6120 Classic. Today I've opened my music player and it did not find any songs that were on the micro SD card. I got the card out and when I inserted it again it said that it's corrupted and wanted to format it. After the format I got it out again and then back in. Again corrupted. No matter how many times I've done that the result was the same. I've connected it to my laptop via an USB cable in pc suite mode. When I've copied some mp3s and tried to read them they were corrupted. I've got the card out, put it in my laptop, formated it in fat32, inserted it again in the phone and copied some songs in data mode. The music players found them, added them in the music library but when I restarted the phone I had to add them again. And it adds the song rather slowly.. and the browsing of the files in the phone browser is slow So.. should I buy a new micro SD card or it is the phone? I bought it 2 weeks ago. The card is new too. What should I do? I've tested it under Windows for bad sectors.. anything else. How to be sure that the card is faulty, and not the phone?

Unable to connect to Skype Nokia 6120 Classic, sig...

Hi I have a Nokia 6120 Classic on Vodafone Egypt. Last month I downloaded skype mobile onto the phone and was able to skype reasonably well (within limitations as I am at a remote location) I left Egypt for some three weeks and on my return the skype application now does not work. I have discussed this with Vodafone and they have resent the settings to the mobile and I have also removed and reloaded Skype. But still no joy it just hangs when signing in until it times out? Skype version is Sybian 1.5.0.12, it's saved on the phone memory. In the advanced settings the incoming conn. port 8877 The Alternative in. ports 8877.
I can still get the internet on the mobile (eg Google and searches ok) Voda fone tell me if I can access the internet I should be able to access Skype? As far as I can see this is the right Skype download and I got it from the Nokia website. In need of some help please as this little application was really quite good, the other options are very expensive.

How to deal with deadlock on wwv_flow_data table when http server times out

There are some threads about a deadlock on the wwv_flow_data table. None of them contain a real explanation for this behaviour. In my case I will try to explain what I think is happening. Maybe it helps somebody who is hitting the same matter.
In my case with APEX 3.2.1 I am navigating from one page to another. Doing this APEX will lock the table wwv_flow_data. As soon as the other page is shown the lock will be released. But now this other page contains a bad performing query (standaard report region). After 5 minutes the http server (modplsql) will time out and present the message "No response from the application server" on the screen. In the meanwhile the query is still running on the database server and the lock stays on the wwv_flow_data table.
Normal user behaviour will be that the user will use the back button to return to the previous page and tries it again to navigate to the other page or
the user will try to refresh the page with the bad performing query.
And voila now you will have a deadlock on the wwv_flow_data table since a second session is trying to do the same thing while the first hasn't finished yet.
How to deal with it?
First of all. Have a good look at the bad performing query. Maybe you can improve it that it will succeed before the http server will timeout.
In my case the 11gr1 optimizer couldn't handle a subquery factoring clause in the best way. After changing it back to a classical inline query the problem was solved.
Secondly you could increase the timeout parameter of the http server. Although this not the best way.
Maybe it would better if APEX in a next version would release the lock on the table wwv_flow_date earlier or do a rollback just before the moment that the http server is timing out.

I am trying to send image that was taken by getSnapshot. The problem is that the server respond with this HTTP 100 message.
I suspect that the reason that my server doesn't recognize the file that I'm sending from J2me is that the "server to client" response to the 100 message comes after the second message of (see what the TCPIP viewer shows down here):

My firefox will allow me to open a page then it gets stuck on the second page and times out--how do I fix this. I have checked the sites on Explorer -it works

It started with the second page not being able to be displayed
example it would go to yahoo and I would sign in but the next page would just spin and time out
Now it won't even go to the first page.
Firefox will not let me go into the options to change cache.
I am trying explorer and it works.

This is a page within the Yahoo site? When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site:
* right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
* Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In that dialog, you can individually remove your yahoo.com cookies.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

Time Out for a syncronus BPEL process

Need your help with regards to the following:
From a parent BPEL process we need to invoke a synchronous BPEL Process .This(child) could take anything between 20-30 seconds for processing a request.
Now the requirement is to time out the parent BPEL process if the BPEL process it is calling takes more than 25 seconds for processing a request.
If( time taken to get from partner process >25 sec)
time out
Else
Move along with the rest of the process.
Approaches considered:
1) Pick activity :
Fallout: the pick activity would work only when you are calling a asynchronous BPEL process.
2) Having the invoke activity in a scope and adding an on Alarm branch for the scope.
Fallout: The BPEL process manager executes all the other activities even after exceeding the maximum time the process is set for timing out.
That is if we consider the below scenario
If( time taken to get from partner process >25 sec)
time out
Else
move along with the rest of the process.
Instead of executing the if block( onAlarm) it is executing the else block.
Request you to suggests approaches to suffice this requirement.

How do I view maps on the 6120 classic?

Hi all.
I have downloaded Nokia Map loaders and installed it on both the 6120 and the PC. I have also downloaded Nokia Maps and installed them on the Memory card via a card reader as instructed as I am told that the maps can not be installed onto the Symbian phone via a USB connection.
I have run the Nokia maps program on the Classic first before attempting to use maps as instructed.
It would appears that the downloads went well because both the installations took a bit of time as the progress bar went across the screen of the 6120.
When I tried to view maps, all I got was the world globe to load and from there nothing.
Just as a point as it may have a bearing. When I tried a Maps download via the PC and Nokia Map Loader, I got the usual gray panel with instruction on how to download, but when I clicked 'next' to got to the next phase where I was to select a country or district or whatever I was told that the connection to the server has been interrupted and to try again, and again, and again...you get the picture.
I found some instructions on the net:
"After installing the Nokia Map Loader application on your PC, start the application. First, choose the continent in the tab on the top of the application window. Then choose the country. Some small countries can be chosen completely, others have several sub-maps from which you have to choose the ones you want to install".
I have never seen this panel anywhere! I believe this is the one that is supposed to come after the gray instructional panel as I stated above.
What am I doing wrong?
I read that I do not need an Internet or GPS connection just to view maps (and that is all that I want to do) so why can't I view my maps, ANY maps?
So whatever I have so far downloaded to the memory card (and from memory is somewhere around 60 something MB, could be more, could be less)is at the moment doing nothing for me.
I really need help here please. :-(

The 6120 classic puts freshly installed apps straight into the main menu.
Try to uninstall it from settings>app.mgr.
Manual removal of Nokia Maps is a pain in the a** because the files are spread all over c:\ with cryptic file names from the smart2go era, most of 'em in folders that you can only get into if you hack your copy of Symbian. It's easier to back up your contacts, messages and calender entries etc., then reset your phone and reinstall your programs.
Next time you install Nokia Maps (or any other app, especially if it's made by Nokia) make a backup of your phone first.

Is there an alarm/reminders app that would allow me to add reminders on specific days throughout the month?

The basics is - I work nightshift so I would want an alarm to wake me up before my shift, wake me up after my shift and wake me up at a certain time on my day off. Rather than doing it week by week - is there an app that would let me make alarms/reminders for the full month to save time and effort?

Memory/software issues with the Nokia 6120 classic...

Hi. I have a Nokia 6120 classic phone which I bought recently (not covered by warranty) and I'm having problems with the phone on my memory or software part (i don't know which one is exactly). I'm having issues like this for example when I'm to run Opera Mobile 10 on my phone after 2 or 3 sessions of browsing it starts telling me that it does not have enough memory and to close any other applications when non of them are really running at all (not even anti-virus). If I try to open it when for example an application like radio or music player is running it won't even bother to give me the loading logo or something, giving me the same memory error like it does in the previous described issue.
Another issue of this phone is when I open high quality 3gp videos in real player and I switch it to full-screen the video will freeze every 3-4 seconds, thing that doesn't happen when it's out of full screen.
Can somebody help me fix these issues? Thank you and good luck.

Answers When I click on all pages it is very slow and sometimes times out

we have a report that returns 127,000 rows quickly and displays 25 at a time. i can click on next page and it is quick to display the next page but if I click on all pages it takes forever or times out. Any Suggestions? Thanks, Rodney

These reports are coming from our old system and they want to recreate them.if I had a penny for every time I'd heard that , I'd probably have, well, at least five pence now ;-)
but seriously, this is the classic problem of using a tool for what it's not.
google around a few of the BI blogs, I've read several articles recently along the lines of "top 5 reasons BI systems fail; #1: recreating reports from an old system with a new tool like-for-like". it's a common problem, and a serious one if you want to deliver a top-notch system that's actually going to be useful and value for money.
do you have any clout to work with the users to understand what they need out of the system and demonstrate how it could be better for them to do it a different way?
failing that, dump IE and go FireFox or Chrome. We have a similar browser issue here and in testing I've done IE blows (esp IE7; IE6 and IE8 not so bad) when reports get big.
Also if they're using nav links in each cell, cut those out, that might help the render time.
