6120 classic and microSDHC card??

I have seen a few posts around saying that people have got the newer Sandisk microSDHC cards to work in their 6120c.
There are a couple of great deals on the new Sandisk 8GB microSDHC cards around and I'd love to get one if someone can confirm they will work.
If you go to the Sandisk website they say it will, but Nokia say it won't. I can only assume that Sandisk should have tested the card in the phone before making this claim. And the phone was released before the cards were available so Nokia may not have tested them.
Can someone verify this all, once and for all??
This would make my ipod virtually obsolete.

Hi All,
Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread. I went out and bought myself a SanDisk 8GB microSDHC Class 2 and it works perfectly with my Nokia 6120c. The guy at the store said that 8GB microSDHC was the maximum capicity supported (/ tested???) by the 6120c.
Just to be sure, I updated the phone firmware to 5.11 and backed up all phone contents prior to putting in the new memcard.
Hope this post helps some one else...

  • 6120 Classic and SMS smileys?

    Hey,
I just bought a 6120 Classic, and wow - I'm just blown away. It's awesome!
However, on my old Ericsson when writing SMS's, I could just write ... and then use up / down to choose some smiley.
When I try something like that only my 6120, I get the following:
    You get the picture...
    So, what do I do?
    Regards,
    Søren

You can try to use PC Suite for this. First, set your phone to use Phone Memory for messages. Then, use PC Suite to copy/move all your messages to your PC. After copying, set your phone to use Memory Card for messages and copy the messages back. =)

  • 6120 Classic and Mac

I was just wondering if anyone has been able to use iSync or any other application with this kinda new phone.
I would really appreciate to have the possibility to use all those syncing functions.
Last phone i had was an MS Smartphone and now i got and Nokia hoping better Mac support, but is it all just a empty wish?
    Tom from Finland

when I first got my Nokia 6120 classic a week ago, I synchonised it to my windows PC at work using Nokia PC Suite. I did this at the time, as no iSync plugin was available for iSync on my iMac machine at home (running OS X Tiger).
I have since located and installed a plugin for iSync for the 6120 by following the instructions above. With the plugin installed, the phone is recognised on the Mac, and the synchronisation process can be configured and started. However it fails with a message 'synchronisation error, the synchronisation was cancelled by the phone' or something similar.
Is this because the phone cannot be setup to Sync with both PC Suite and with iSync? If so, I would like to disable synchronisation with PC Suite and only ever sync with the Mac via isync. How do I do this?
If all else fails, can I restore settings to the phone (preferably without removing applications and bookmarks that I have set if possible?)
    Thanks for your help!
    Chris

  • SDHC support Nokia 6120 classic

    Hi there,
Does the Nokia 6120 classic support microSDHC cards, i.e. memory cards of 4GB and larger? Yes, I know the specification only says up to 2GB normal microSD. The E90 and N95 do support SDHC while they have the same Symbian platform (S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1). Anyone tried a 4GB in a 6120 already?
I use a 4 GB card 9FAT32) in my 6230i and works perfectly, while according specifications only 512MB (FAT16) is supported.

    Plz Help ME
    Thanx
    Solved!

    Dear Islamic Brother, assalamu alaikum!
i had the same problem with my 6120c phone. the original version in my set was 4.2 and i updated it to 5.11 myself. afterwards Islamic Organizer was not installing. but im glad to find a very simple solution myself.
Important: All your data and installed applications will be removed permanently. So you should take backup of all your data on phone memory (contacts, calender items, sms, images etc) and though not necessary but in order to be safer - remove your memory card before following these steps:
    - Turn off your phone
    - Press and hold '*' '3' and 'call' buttons, and while holding all these three buttons simultaneously, and press 'ON' button. (this may sound difficult but when you will try to do this you will find it easy)
    - Keep all these four buttons press until your phone starts
    - If you have done it correctly the phone will ask you to enter your country, city, time and date, etc.
    - Go to Menu>Download - refresh the list and download Islam Organiser again.
    - That's all!!
May we all respect our prayer timings!

  • Nokia 6120 Classic Accept button not working

I have a Nokia 6120 Classic and is not working fine. I have decided to change my mobile.
Before change my mobile I want to backup all my data and telephone numbers. The problem is that Accept button is not working correct. When I start my mobile I can enter pin number but after this I can't enter the date because I have to use Accept button (the one in the top left). Is there any possibility to skip entering date? This is the only wey to enter mobile and backup my data
    Thanks

I was going to take it to Nokia care but duh? Should the button stop working suddenly? Without anything wrong also the same with the camera button also I'm not the first one to have this problem right? Then its not our problem but its Nokia's I thought there's another solution, but yeah I'm making angry posts can you just make good products? I see all the people complaint about that button **bleep**, you better not talk while maybe the problem from th company.

  • 6120 Classic

Hi, I have recently brought a nokia 6120 classic, and are having problems with the calendar and back-up functions. The calendar keeps coming up with a message each time i go into it which says "1 or more calendar note may have been missed to to time change" and the phone will no longer backup the calendar in PC Suite. Does anybody have any solutions?? Thanks

So I removed all entries on 6120c.
    Removed all entries in Outlook,
Synchronized both and it still says there are 4 items on the 6120c.
    The backup cannot be made.
These items cannot be seen; they are hidden in some way.
I'm not going to yell / scream or whatever but something is wrong somewhere:
    - Outlook
    - Calendar
    - PCsuite (?)
or any combination of the above.
Should I reset to factory settings?

  • Corrupted microSD card in 6120 classic

I have Nokia 6120 Classic. Today I've opened my music player and it did not find any songs that were on the micro SD card. I got the card out and when I inserted it again it said that it's corrupted and wanted to format it. After the format I got it out again and then back in. Again corrupted. No matter how many times I've done that the result was the same. I've connected it to my laptop via an USB cable in pc suite mode. When I've copied some mp3s and tried to read them they were corrupted. I've got the card out, put it in my laptop, formated it in fat32, inserted it again in the phone and copied some songs in data mode. The music players found them, added them in the music library but when I restarted the phone I had to add them again. And it adds the song rather slowly.. and the browsing of the files in the phone browser is slow So.. should I buy a new micro SD card or it is the phone? I bought it 2 weeks ago. The card is new too. What should I do? I've tested it under Windows for bad sectors.. anything else. How to be sure that the card is faulty, and not the phone?

Official Nokia reply to query on 6120c:
In response to your email, there is no known issue with the Nokia 6120
Classic mobile phone that Nokia is aware of. The Nokia 6120 Classic mobile
phone is compliant with applicable thermal requirements of IEC 60950
(International Safety Standard for Information Technology Equipment) and
also with Nokia's own product requirements. The heating of the mobile
phone is typical of electronic devices which does heat up after usage for
a period of time. You can always take your mobile phone to a Nokia Care
Centre to have it assessed and tested by our technicians to determine if
the phone is within it's specifications.
As for the speaker muting automatically, I would advise you to take your

  • 3110 Classic and Sandisk memory card

    Hi
I have just acquired a Nokia 3110 Classic and wonder whether the Sandisk Micro SD cards are compatible, and, if so, what is the maximum memory supported by this phone?

If it takes microSD cards, then SanDisk cards should work fine (they usually are, to my experience).
I don't have your model, but I suspect that 2GB would be the maximum it can handle. Check the 3110 Classic accessories that Nokia lists on http://www.nokia.com (if 2GB cards are listed there, then they should work).

  • How do I view maps on the 6120 classic?

    Hi all.
I have downloaded Nokia Map loaders and installed it on both the 6120 and the PC. I have also downloaded Nokia Maps and installed them on the Memory card via a card reader as instructed as I am told that the maps can not be installed onto the Symbian phone via a USB connection.
I have run the Nokia maps program on the Classic first before attempting to use maps as instructed.
It would appears that the downloads went well because both the installations took a bit of time as the progress bar went across the screen of the 6120.
When I tried to view maps, all I got was the world globe to load and from there nothing.
Just as a point as it may have a bearing. When I tried a Maps download via the PC and Nokia Map Loader, I got the usual gray panel with instruction on how to download, but when I clicked 'next' to got to the next phase where I was to select a country or district or whatever I was told that the connection to the server has been interrupted and to try again, and again, and again...you get the picture.
I found some instructions on the net:
"After installing the Nokia Map Loader application on your PC, start the application. First, choose the continent in the tab on the top of the application window. Then choose the country. Some small countries can be chosen completely, others have several sub-maps from which you have to choose the ones you want to install".
I have never seen this panel anywhere! I believe this is the one that is supposed to come after the gray instructional panel as I stated above.
    What am I doing wrong?
I read that I do not need an Internet or GPS connection just to view maps (and that is all that I want to do) so why can't I view my maps, ANY maps?
So whatever I have so far downloaded to the memory card (and from memory is somewhere around 60 something MB, could be more, could be less)is at the moment doing nothing for me.
I really need help here please. :-(
    Regards
    Nokia 6120 classic
May the "Farce" be with you!

The 6120 classic puts freshly installed apps straight into the main menu.
Try to uninstall it from settings>app.mgr.
Manual removal of Nokia Maps is a pain in the a** because the files are spread all over c:\ with cryptic file names from the smart2go era, most of 'em in folders that you can only get into if you hack your copy of Symbian. It's easier to back up your contacts, messages and calender entries etc., then reset your phone and reinstall your programs.
Next time you install Nokia Maps (or any other app, especially if it's made by Nokia) make a backup of your phone first.

  • 6120 classic error - Connected phone was not recog...

I have used the software updater before, but now when I try and use it I am told Phone is not supported, connected phone was not recognized.
I have uninstalled and re-installed the program, PC suite works and recognizse my phone, I can back up etc.
Does anybody have any ideas how I can solve this problom

The updates for the 6120 classic have been removed due to a problem with either the software updater or the firmware.
They will be returned when the problem has been fixed.
