6163 pro drivers?

Hi, a friend has this mobo: http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=113  and needs mobo drivers, which ones does he get from MSI?
Reason, I thought I got the right ones from MSI here: http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/driver/dvr/spt_dvr_list.php the INTEL inf driver but while it seems to install he gets a yellow ! in device manager saying that he has a PCI serial device to install, which appears to be his modem but even with the modem drivers its still there and the modem doesnt work.
any help please.

  • Problem with a MSI-6163 PRO

Anyone got an idea what kinda problem i have? I have an MSI 6163 PRO motherboard (with latest BIOS update 3.5), a PIII 700 Cuppermine, 3x256 SDRam, i run Win XP Pro, have a 40 gb harddrive and have been running like this for at least 9 months, without any problem. Suddenly it starts to reboot all the time and now i cant even start it not even in fail safe mode, it reboots before i get in.
Its not a Virus, i have virus checked the hardrive, i tryed with a smaller harddrive (6 gb and win 95) and that worked, i bought a new harddrivce (120 gb) Started to format and install Win XP pro and it starts to reboot again, i have tryed chagne memmorys, graphic adapter, net adapter, soundcard everything, i am going nuts! anyone had probs like this??
I would be more than greatfull if anyone has an answer to this.

Thanks a lot Wonkanoby for the help. It didnt help my error but it sure cleared it up. There were several capacitor that leaked, just as the pics on the site you sent  http://www.overclockers.com/tips00140/, it shows clearly on thoose. Cant beleive how that problem can be so big and seems like they are doing nothing about it either.
Well thanks for a great Forum here, and thanks to you Wonkanoby.
The motherboard is dumped... thinking of going back to good old ASUS
    Then its Rock´n Roll agian
    Have a great day.

  • 6163 pro & 950 Celeron

I wander if my 6163 Pro is going to work with a new CPU that I intend to get from a friend of mine: A 950 Mhz Celeron (it has 126 Kb of L2 cache so I think it's Coppermine based - I don't have a clue on the FSB though). I use the board with a 566 Celeron that I overclocked @ 850 Mhz. Thanks.
I also want to know if a good slocket adapter is to be found anyware.

  • SCSI boot on 6163 Pro ?

    Hello guys
I am not very strong in hardware, but I know SCSI disks are speeder than IDE and SATA ones (but more expensive too ...), so I have a little question :
In the BIOS of my old MSI 6163 Pro (2.0), for the BOOT SEQUENCE option, there is the choice SCSI? Does-it mean I can replace my old IDE 20Go and have a SCSI, with the system on it, and bootable ?
    Thanks in advance.
    $martiz

The only thing I can think of is that the adapter card was needed and the option is in BIOS then it should boot from that drive. I have not looked yet but what does the manual say?
Edit: I just browsed the manual and you just need to set it to the boot sequence you want to use. There are quite a few options so use the one best suited to your needs and it should be OK from there.
One of these I imagine would be the best options since they are the only ones that give you SCSI as 1st boot device: SCSI,A,C or SCSI,C,A

  • MSI MS-6163 Pro v.2.0 Hard Drive Support

I have a problem. I bought a 80 gig seagate Baracuda and I was only able to get 40 gigs out of it. I havent updated my Bios because i am not sure if it is going to support 80 gigs and over. I would like to know if the latest Bios update for MSI MS-6163 Pro v.2.0 will enable a larger hard drive support.
One more thing. If i stuff up my motherboard by installing wrong bios and get a boot block is there any other way of recovering the old bios. I could do nothing about my older gigabyte motherboard but I heard you can do something with the CMOS jumpers on ms-6163 if you get a boot block.

  • 6163 pro v2 / 6905 v2.3 PIII 800eb HELP

My system is (or was) as follows
    MS-6163 Pro v2, 500 Celeron on MS-6905 v2.3, 320Mb Ram (2x128 pc133, 1x64 pc100), TNT2 m64 32Mb, 13Gb + 40Gb Segate HDD's, Diamond Data 36x CD-rom, Iomega 650i CDRW, Lucent Win modem, Aztec 2320 sound card. It has never played up in the last 3 years, but I decided to bite the bullet and get a newer/faster CPU.
Ok here's the problem, when I installed the 800eb & removed the 64m pc100 SDRAM (after flashing the new MS-6163 Pro W6163IMJ3A0 BIOS Release) and set it to 133 x 6 the system will boot but crashes/locks up loading Windoze ME.
I figured out I had a dodgy SDRAM and removed it, system ran fine at 800Mhz yesterday, yet today it started crashing iexplorer every few minuets (not the system). Upon rebooting it started behaving the same as yesterday. Seemed like a ram problem again.
Setting the CPU to 8 x 100 (hoping to alleviate ram problem) results in the CPU booting up as a 600e. It runs fine and stable although I find no real world increase in performance over my trusty old 500 Celery. I want to get it to run at 800Mhz.
The system is now as I type:
    CPU PIII 800eb running at 600Mhz (100 x 6, even if set to 100 x 8 in BIOS) which boots as a PIII 600e.
    BIOS 10/11/2000-i440BX-W977-2A69KM4KC-00
    RAM AMD 128mb 16x(8Mx8) SDRAM PC133U-333-542 (CL3 up to 133Mhz)
I can't find any reference to the 6905 v2.3 anywhere, mine is identical to the v2 BUT J3 has only 3 pins on my board not 4 as in the documentation for v2.
As for the 6163 should I leave SW2 & SW3 set to auto or set the CPU bus to 100.
Any help would be most greatfully accepted as the 800EB set me back AU$165 and there is no point running it at 600.
    Thanks in advance
OH! Almost forgot, the sound card no longer works. Weird??

    Hi guys,
I assumed as much reguarding the 800eb multiplier and after some fiddling last night managed to coaxs it to run at 744Mhz (6x124) and so far appears to be running ok with the AGP at 83Mhz. I'll see how in goes over the next few days.
The only reason I bought the 800eb is that it was listed here
    Supported CPU's
and even after flashing the new BIOS it only allowed up to 8.5 multiplier which to me ruled out anything over 850 if retaining 100Mhz FSB.
I'm still curious though as to the J3 difference between the ver2 of the MS-6905 Master (4 pins) and mine the ver2.3 (3 pins)

  • 6163 Pro dead??

    Hey all,
I've been running my 6163 Pro v2.0 board (bios v3.a) for a few years with no problems at all. Last night my monitor suddenly went blank. I tried to restart but got nothing.
I opened up the case and tried to restart again. I saw that the diagnostic led's were stuck at 2) green 3) red 4) green 5) red. According to the manual, it has something to do with the VGA bios or the card not installed correctly.
I'm running a ATI AIW 32MB AGP card. I tried to reseat the card but the same thing happened upon restarting, lights stuck at green - red - green - red.
I've tried a PCI video card, same results. I've tried clearing the CMOS (several times), replacing the battery, pulled every card out of the board except the video card, one stick of memory, two sticks of memory, changed the power supply, and even tried different processors and still no luck.
Is my BIOS to blame or is the board just dead?? I can't try to recover or reflash as the system won't even POST.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    System:
    Intel celeron 1.8 Ghz
    Matrox G400 dualhead 32MB
    Windows 2000
Mainbord: MSI 645 something (6 months old)
    Problem:
I was playing space cadet in windows 2000 when the system suddenly hung up. The picture went into bizzare patterns and i restarted. It froze again and I restarted. Now there is a serie of 9 beeps when poweering on the computer and the beep starts when 2 and 4 are red on the bracket. It stops beeping and 1 2 3 are red while 4 is green. The monitor is blank. Something with the videocard? NO. Tried another videocard, Hercules Prophet 64 MB Geforce 2 and that didn´t work either. Tried to unplug every card except for the videocard and it didn´t work. The funny thing is that it DID started ONCE during boot up but it zone froze again when listening to music.
What is teh matter with my computer?

    Hi
I am currently got a 500 celeron in my MSI 6163 pro v2  with blue sticker with "c" on on the i/o chip.
I need to upgrade my processor as my P.C cannot handle some of my games
Could you tell me what processor will work on it as I have read conflicting sizes
Also will I need to flash my bios, it saysW6163MJ39B4 when it boots up
I have been on cpu support and it says less than what I have got in the celeron range.
Any ideas where to get these chips from as a lot of the main sellers stock the new ones.

  • AGP of MSI 6163 Pro (MSI 6163 Ver2)

Hi..wondering if anyone can tell me if msi 6163 Pro (msi 6163 Ver2) can support GF2 Ti Video Card?
Been thinking of getting the Inno3D GF2 Ti Card, but is not able to find info as to whether it will work on it.

and the MSI-6163 v1.0 can support a gf2mx agp card (it's an asus v7100 deluxe)?. I tried to install it but windows98 can't recognise Cd-rom because it says it is a conflict in the bus controller (the exact address is f000-f000f) and it was no way to make it run well. I had to reinstall the old intel740 8mb agp card, and making so the pc become to run properly just like before installing the gf2mx card. Can anyone help me? I'm getting mad about this... :(
P.S. Sorry for the english that maybe it's not quite perfect

  • My Msi 6163 Pro doesn't boot !

I change the motherboard Msi 6163 Pro of my old PC but it doesn't boot !!

    - and PC 100-128M 8*16
Do you have an idea for this problem    ? The mainboard, the memory module, the pentium (pentium III 500)
No overclocking, default configuration, bios has been initialised ...
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi dude !
I have Msi6163 bx master.... This motherboard support copermine.
Yes..it is a big chance that the problem is related to sdram type memory. I personaly have 512MB of sdram (all 4 slots full) I have mixed sdrams... some are 133mhz, some of them are 100mhz. The bus is overclocked to 133mhz from 100mhz so my p3 650 mhz works on 866 since 2001 year without any problem. I have difficulties to find working sdram on this motherboard when i upgraded it with more memory. Some sdram modules didnt work, some of them has been recognized as half of it, boot problems and so go on... I know that in mynual is written whic sdram must be.
I check now on site http://www.crucial.com/  for the answer for your problem. I found this:
These 168-pin DIMM modules are compatible with your system.:
    128MB sdrams: (crucial)

    SDRAM, PC133 • CL=3 • Unbuffered • Non-parity • 133MHz • 3.3V • 16Meg x 64

  • Msi 6163 Pro

Does anyone could help me, were i could buy the msi 6163 Pro motherboard for replacement of my old one which was totally crash because some of its resistor were damage.  I'm not sure if the cause was overheat, or the board might be defective.  But I still like this board more than the other. 8)

Only with great luck as a used board from a computer shop.
They were not in production for about 3 years now.

  • Ms 6163 Pro

    Hello all.
I just purchased a used system and am having troubles getting Windows 2000 or XP running.
    System Specs
    6163 PRO VER:2 (Blue C Sticker)
    Intel PIII 667MHZ Processor
    2 126MB PC100
    1 256MB PC100
    BIOS Settings
    Version: W6163MJ V3.9 090400
    CPU Voltage: 1.65V
    CPU Speed: Manual
    CPU Ratio: X 5
    CPU/PCI Frequency: 133/33Mhz(On)
    Chipset Voltage Adjust 3.3V
    Problem
If the BIOS is set to run at 66MHz the system runs fine but obviously isn't using the PIII 667 MHz chip to it's potential.  When I try to install XP or 2000 it gets to an intermittent point in the setup and then hangs.  Both install CD's work on other machines so there is nothing wrong with the CD.
    Any ideas?

    PIII (Coppermine) 667 133 5  N/A
it does not work with 133 fsb cpu
and you would need pc 133 as well

  • What happened to the Audigy 4 (non-pro) drivers on the websi

I swore a week or so there were seperate drivers for the new Audigy 4 (non-pro) on Creative's site. Now only the Audigy 4 Pro is shown under the download options. What happened? I was going to just use the online drivers with the audio console for an easy install and to ensure I have the lastest drivers.

Try download them MANUALLY. They're 5.2..6-2.08.00.000.

  • Win XP Pro drivers and install order for Qosmio E10

    Hello,
I bought recently Qosmio E10 in Korea. The OS is Korean Win XP Home. I would like to change it, so I guess I have two options:
    1. Get a restore CD in English. But I read that Toshiba has the strange rule not to give restore CD with different language. I wrote them, they don't answer for now.
    2. Install Win XP Pro myself (I have only this license). The issue in this case is to be able to get all the drivers I need. I found good drivers on several locations:
On http://www.toshiba.co.kr, but I worry that these drivers are for Korean XP.
    The other place is http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp
In this place, most of the drivers are for Media Center edition. There are drivers for XP Pro, but they are not so many and there is no install order. For example, there is no NVidia driver, while such driver is available for the media center. Maybe I can use Media center drivers on XP Pro?
So my question is: What drivers I have to use and and what order to get a proper working XP Pro. It would be nice to know where to download QosmioUI. I found the Linux player and I will install it, but I want also to have the player in Windows.

    Hello
As far as I know the software is bundled on notebook and if you buy a notebook you buy automatically OS and license to use it. That means that you can not order a recovery DVD on another language. Qosmio E10 is delivered with Windows MCE2004 SP1a.
The only possibility is to install Microsoft Windows XP OS (full version, with or without MCE), and then you must install all necessary drivers, tools and utilities separately.
For English language you can find them on http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com under Support & Downloads.
    Bye
