6230i GPRS problem with TomTom

Hi
I have just got a TomTom Go300 and I am trying to connect to my 6230i, it pairs OK and connects but then gives my an error when trying to create a GPRS connection with the error ' subscribe to GPRS first. I have contacted my provider and they state GPRS is enabled and activated with no limits and TomTom.com reckon its not their equipment.
IS there anything I can look for to sort this out, or has anyone any advice for me please

The following page has just helped me connect:
http://www.filesaveas.com/pocketpcconnect.html
Specifically the bit I was originally missing was the connection string - middle of page "Using GPRS"
+CGDCONT =1,"IP","MOBILE.O2.CO.UK"
I should also add this was purely so I could browse using GPRS from my Pocket PC and nothing to do with Tom Tom (just found this thread yesterday and the problems seemed similar Message Edited by ssherlock on 09-Oct-2006

  • Bluetooth connection problems with TomTom Go910

Although my TomTom Go910 finds my 5800 it keeps saying that there is no answer from phone 'look at your phone'.  Anyone got any ideas what's wrong as my previous Nokia had no such problems?

I have the same problem with both our TomTom 500 and 530.  Really annoying as our olf Nokia 6300 worked with both including SMS.  The 5800 often has to be 're-booted' to connect and then most of the time does not work.

  • 6230i - connectivity problems with cable, infrared...

I have just had my phone replaced by my company as I was experiencing coneectivity problem. I have installed (and uninstalled) PC Suite and tried to connect my laptop to my phone. I get the following problems with each method:
    1. Bluetooth - cannot authenticate phone
    2. Cable - doesn't connect - nothing happens.
    3. Infrared - I get a message telling me infrared is not supported.
This happens even though my laptop recognises something is trying to connect to my phone.
    It's driving me insane!

Please check your device manager if drivers are installed. If no
then 1st uninstall PC suite. Connect your phone and re-boot. The windows ( I hope you are using 32 bit version ) will recognise a new hardware and will install all the required drivers. Please be patient till you get a pop-up telling your hardware is ready to use. Now install PC suite & try to connect.Message Edited by babdi on 13-May-200710:11 AM

  • Sound problems with Tomtom 930T over bluetooth

I have sound dropouts problems when using the handsfree mode on my Tomtom 930T.
Sound will just drop to a super low volume, then come back up multiple times throughout a phonecall.
It's totally consistent (timed it to a recorded message, it happens at the same spots all the time).
It's not the Tomtom (tried another non-iphone phone and it works fine, tried pairing my iphone to another tomtom and it shows the same problem).
    Any ideas?

Understood. My point is that there isn't (AFAIK) a different bluetooth profile for car kits and GPS units.
As you probably know, Bluetooth profiles are an international standard. When the iPhone advertises the bluetooth profiles it supports (during the discovery process), it either supports it or it doesn't (same for the car kits or GPS). The iPhone has no way to then act differently because it's connected to a specific type of units rather that another (which is why the blue tooth standard was made in the first place). If it supports the bluetooth profile for hands-free (which is he one used for car kits & headsets) and both have implemented the standard properly, then it should work no problem.
    I hope this makes sense
My suspicion are in an implementation bug on the iPhone or the TomTom. I'm trying to find other people with similar issues to diagnose which one is more likely.
Anyone else with sound issues on car-kits or GPSs?

  • 6230i connection problems with BMW

Can anyone advise. I've a 6230i with s/w version 03.88 and I've had it paired up to my BMW 3 series (E46). Its been working fine for 5 weeks (phone book the lot) but last week something has stopped it working. BMW checked it out and tell me that my phone's s/w version is too recent to be compatible..they support to v03.81. I can pair the phone but incoming calls do not trigger the car system and the phone book is not working. Should I try and fallback to 3.81 and if so how? Does anyone have any other advice?
    Thanks

I have the same problem in 2010 BMW 528i and iPhone 4S. I reduced how often this happens by turning off syncing of contact on the iphone. But it still happens daily. The audio is not diverted from the phone to the car.
Really, really hoping that this gets fixed with iOS 5 update soon.

  • 6230i synchronisation problems with Outlook calend...

My PC is running Windows XP Professional SP2 PC suite ver is 6.6.18 and I'm connecting via usb cable. My problem is that I can interrogate the phone memory fine, moving files in both directions and synchronise the calendar...... but I can not synchronise recurring events. The events show on the pc calendar but only the first entry is synchronised with the phone any ideas?
    Ian

The only thing that I can think of is the synchronisation range. When you created the synchronisation settings and selected the calendar items to be included in the synchronisation, what kind of synchronisation range did you specify?
Perhaps it could help if you specified a longer time period into the future and tried to re-synchronise? Please let us know if this does not help! Then someone else might find another possible solution

  • I-phone link with TomTom?

I currently own a TomTom 710 with recently updated software, maps POIs etc. I am considering buying a new i-phone but need to check whether it will communicate with the TomTom to receive traffic updates etc. Officially TomTom says no but then "officially" my current phone (Orange SPV M3100) will not communicate but it does (admittedly with sporadic success rate!).
    Anyone have any info/definitive answer?
    Sebastian

I'm currently in the situation you are trying to avoid. It will not pair with my TomTom One XLS for traffic data. Previously I had an old motorola (also with AT&T) which paired with it and transfered data perfectly, so it is definitely not a problem with TomTom.
Having said that, I'm otherwise very happy with my iphone for everything else it does and can't imagine going back to anything else. At the moment it is not a replacement for my TomTom (even though I have the 3g) but I can see it on the horizon for sure. I can already get mapping gps location and traffic through google, weather through various other services and much more my GPS could never dream of. Now somebody just needs to put it all together.

  • Nokia 6700 compatibility with tomtom go730

I use my tomtom go 730 for hands-free when driving; it connects through bluetooth. I am looking at getting a new phone and like the look of the nokia 6700 but have been unable to ascertain anywhere whether or not it would be compatible? Has anyone tried? Got any advice?

I use it with the Tomtom Go 520 and it works fine including downloading traffic information.
The only issue is that it only shows one number per contact even if you have multiple numbers but I think that is more of a problem with Tomtom!

I have car charging problems,my 4s won't charge with tomtom car kit,my old 3GS worked fine, tried a belkin charger had same problem.
Any ideas I'm pulling my hair out !!!

Seems to be a hardware issue and you'll have to get it checked by visiting an Authorized Apple Service Provider, an Apple Store , to see if other 3rd party charger will work at their place.

  • No alert is displayed; also problem with Nokia 6230i

    Hi everyone.
I have quite a simple piece of code, like:
    Alert al = new Alert(.....);
    al.setTimeout(Alert.FOREVER);
    display.setCurrent(al);
showMainForm();showMainForm() is another function which displays, say, a List or Form - again by using display.setCurrent() method.
When I run my program in the emulator, no alert comes up at all! If I add a debugging code (e.g. System.out.println("Show alert");) - the text is printed - but I am still unable to see the alert - the showMainForm() function is immediately called and the next form/list is displayed.
I also have a problem with deploying my applications onto Nokia 6230i - when I try to install the jar file, packaged by WTK, onto the phone, and then launch it - the phone comes up with an error message 'Invalid application' - although the program perfectly runs in the emulator.
MIDP and CLDC are both set to version 1.0.

Hi. Thanks for replying to my post.
Unfortunately calling Thread.sleep() doesn't achieve much: the application just freezes for 5 seconds - still no alert is displayed. I searched through this forum - many people came across this problem. For several of them it disappeared randomly, the rest suggested that this was a bug in Sun's SDK... Is Sun doing anything about it? Is there a definite solution to this problem at all?

  • Installing problem with 6230i

    Hi,
I have a big problem with Pc Suite application installer.Whenever I try to install a .jar file that's bigger than about 150-200 kb,I get an error message which states that i don't have enough memory. But i have about 3 MB free phone memory and 26 MB on the MMC. Please, help solve my problem!

I tried to install the version you suggested but got exactly the same error message. I've also tried to install the software from my phone (C5-00), but it's just Nokia PC Internet Access, or something like that and it doesn't even recognize my phone. Then sometimes that program said that it wanted to update some components but the installer never moved from 0%. So now I don't have any software installed related to Nokia (maybe some registry entries or something).
Here is the exactly same error message that I get and I've tried everything that's suggested there: /t5/Nokia-Ovi-Suite/I-get-an-error-while-installing-Ovi-suite/td-p/831427

Hi guys, really need someones help please!! Iv recently bought a brand new 6230i, however when i switch the bluetooth on and try to recieve files, it bassically is just not working!! Its ok if i send a file, e.g a photo to another persons phone, all works well. However when someone tries to send me something i get a notification askin for acceptance as usual, then i press ok, and after a few seconds it just say conection failed!!! This is with every type of phone with all types of data. Im wondering if because my chip is now a few years old and only on pay as you go, is it something to do with that?
Its very strange as say for example a friend can see my phone on their phone so obviously the phones are comunicating, but data will just not arrive at my phone!!!
    Please help guys!!!!!!
    Cheers
    Mark

I confirm there is a problem with Bluetooth on this device.
I have been played with bluetooth for a long time (> 9 months) with my Siemens S65, a GPS, a BT dongle and recently with the Nokia 770 tablet. Never have a problem between all these devices whatever I am under Linux or under XP (with the same dongle on both systems). I'm using GPRS regularly with the Nokia 770 (via BT and the S65) and no problem at all. Same thing with the dongle, the GPS and the S65 or the tablet.
Yesterday I acquired a 6230i for testing EDGE (GPRS is a bit -very- slow guys) and ... impossible to retrieve a full page.
There is no problem when using GRPS from the terminal itself.
There is also no problem at all when playing with AT commands through the serial port profile (RFCOMM) using the dongle with XP.
But as soon as there is a few bits to be transfered the BT link crashes : I can only observe the beginning of a HTML when surfing before the BT link stops.
Moreover the Nokia 770 tablet itself is unable to see the shared directories on the 6230i whereas it has no problem for seeing and transfering them from the S65 !
Big, big incompatibilities between 2 products of the same manufacturer!
Sounds like a flow control problem.
So where is the solution ? My firmware (6230i) version is 3.5.

  • Problem with mail for exchange after update on E72...

    Hi everyone,
I updated Nokia E-mail to ver 3.9 on E72. Now I am facing  a problem with mail for exchange. I have configured gmail on mail for exchange. I recieve a warning that "unable to sync contact administrator if problem persist". It started to pop up just after the update was over and is very frustrating. Even previously i used to recieve mails instantly but now it generally takes half an hour for me to recieve them. I deleted and created mail for exchange several times but to no avail.
Also i am not able to automatically recieve mails other emails which i have configured. every time I have to manually download them everytime.
Can anybody suggest a way out.
    Thanks
    Anil

It could be a problem if you're using your network's connections...
I was on a Pay & Go tariff with o2 some time ago, and needed secure connections for various things, o2 told me they didn't provide secure connections on Pay & Go tariffs...
Could be worth checking with them to make sure it's supported.

  • I have a problem with a family members blackberry curve 8520!

My grandmother has a problem with the blackberry as she cannot call or receive calls from people on her contacts list or anyone else. She said to me that she has a star in a blue box under her signal bar and next to it she has a "gprs".
Could this be a problem with her blackberry? If not then can you help me to solve the problem. I'd be really grateful for the help.
    Thank you
