I have trawled all discussions and tried solutions offered to get pc siute to connect to my bluetooth but i keep getting error message "cannot use the connection type. please check that all the needed hardware software and drivers are available." As I am a bit of of techno novice I am not sure if I have done everything I should or done it correctly. Please be gentle with me as I am heading towards silver surfer territory ie I am no whizz kid!

I have recently upgraded my iBookG4 from Tiger to Leopard 10.5.8 and find my Bluetooth USB adaptor no longer connects. The Bluetooth pane says inactive. Does Leopard require  USB 2.0. I've had the adaptor for some time so may be USB 1.0

Bluetooth icon on menu bar shows bluetooth off. When opening bluetooth preferences it shows the devices I've connected previously,( my mobile phone), and other devices I've attempted to connect but not very successfully: my iPhone and MiniMac.  The bluetooth dongle in the USB port shows a continual blue light but does not react and the iBook does not recognise that it is there. There is absolutely no reaction when I try to pair my mobile phone, which I've done successfully before upgrading to Leopard, either by the iBook or the mobile phone.
I assumed that Tiger was not bluetooth compatible with the iPhone or MacMini running SnowLeopard and hoped by upgrading to Leopard I could achieve some file transfers between the three devices (iBook, iPhone and MacMini)

  • Not recognizing USB adaptor after Archive and Install

I recently did an Archive and Install on my PowerMac G4, but after finishing, my Belkin f5d7050 USB adaptor was no longer being recognized. I downloaded the 10.3.9 combo update from Apple using a different computer and got the file to the G4 using an ethernet cable, and made sure I had the correct driver, but to no avail. In the Network preferences, under Network Port Configurations, I see the option for "Ethernet Adaptor (en1)," but greyed out. What can I do make my machine see the adaptor again?

Could you tell me how you fixed this problem, mine is doing the same.
    Many Thanks.

  • USB Adaptor for older char

    Hi,
I have a new ZEN player. The complete AC adpator is $29.99 plus shipping. All it is, is a 5 volt charger like the one I have for my nomad 2, nomad Zen Xtra and nomad Zen touch plus an USB adaptor. Well, I have lots of the old 5 v 2.4 amp wall chargers, just looking to purchase the little?2 inch adaptor?for cheaper than $30. Does creative sell it separate? Can you give a guy a break that continues to purchase a new mp3 player from creative every couple of years? What would be cool would be to be able to buy it for about $5, so I could get 2 of them, one for home, one for work.

Creative is not known for selling parts that are a component of a product. If you have multiple chargers and are familiar with wiring, you could probably make up your own adapter using an inline jack to connect to the barrel plug from the charger, using a USB mini-B cable.

  • Mountain Lion compatible Serial-to-USB adaptor recommendation

Can someone recommend a Serial-to-USB adaptor that is compatible with OS X Mountain Lion.
    Thank you in advance,

I have used that one and it works.
Here is a similar model that I still use and it works as well:
    http://www.tripplite.com/en/products/model.cfm?txtSeriesID=782&txtModelID=3915
That one has two RS-422 ports.
Their drivers for Mountain Lion work perfectly, as do the earlier ones for PPC Macs. I have used it with every OS X version since Jaguar.
It does install a kernel extension but as far as I have been able to tell, it is well-behaved and I have experienced no conflicts. The .kext is not active unless the adapter is actually connected.
Follow the driver installation instructions carefully - the adapter must be disconnected while installing the driver or the installer package will crash. The package installer dialog tells you this.
Here is a summary from my notes:
Disconnect the Keyspan adapter from your Mac. If you do not disconnect the adapter, the installer package will crash.
Open the downloaded zipfile to expand the keyspanUSAdrvr installer package.
Read the "Important Information", authenticate when necessary, and complete the installation. The Keyspan driver is a kernel extension necessary for the Keyspan adapter to work.
Connect the Keyspan adapter after the installer completes.
An alert may appear indicating that "new network interfaces were detected" and need to be configured. You may ignore this alert, and you may delete the three Keyspan network interfaces that will now appear in System Preferences > Network. OS X seems to think these are dialup modem drivers. They are not used for printing. The alert will not reappear.
A logout / login or reboot should be optional to ensure the driver is loaded. If in doubt, reboot.
With the adapter connected and its driver correctly installed, the kernel extension will now appear in System Information as KeyspanUSAdriver.
In Applications, locate and open Keyspan Serial Assistant. When the adapter has been connected its serial port names will appear in this window. Clicking the reveal triangle will show their names.
KeySerial1 is an alias to the first port on the first Keyspan adapter connected to your Mac. The names USA28XxxxxP1.1 and USA28XxxxxP2.2 will change if the adapter is connected to a different USB port. Connect your serial device to Port 1 on the adapter, and use KeySerial1 for the serial port name. Otherwise it will be necessary to change the name of your serial port every time you change which USB port the Keyspan is using.
Leave Keyspan Serial Assistant in your Applications folder since you may need it to refer to these names in the future.
To uninstall the Keyspan driver software, open Keyspan Serial Assistant, select "Uninstall USB Serial Extension" from the Settings menu, and follow the instructions. Administrator authentication is required to uninstall the driver. The extension will then be eradicated from your system. The only remaining files are the Keyspan Serial Assistant application, the installer package, and the downloaded zipfile. To completely delete everything drag all these files to the Trash.
Keyspan had previously labeled their OS X 10.8 driver a "beta" version, which worked fine. They since dropped the "beta" label. Hopefully this indicates they are interested in continued support. In any event I doubt any updates would be required for future OS X versions any time soon, since it is already a 64 bit driver.

  • Anyone can help me about the driver of USB adaptor CB2

@OP: there is no content in your message, it's just begging. The title
of your topic contains two more or less informative words "PARSING codes".
My question to you is: what exactly do you mean by "PARSING" and
"codes"? Parsing context free (programming) languages? I guess
you're not talking natural languages here because your project should
just take a week to complete. Care to elaborate?
    kind regards,

ps. and why "PARSING" instead of "parsing"?

  • Wi-fi 802.11ac USB adaptor

I bought the Edimax AC450 USB Adaptor for my Macbook Air. There is a utility installed with the adaptor, but this will not open up with Yosemite. I have been able to open it on another Macbook with Mavericks, and it worked. Same problem with other wireless utilities like Railink. I have seen how some instructions can be written in into the system to allow this. Any solutions?

Yes, apparently it is a recognized problem with Yosemite with these wireless utilities. I will check again, though. I am not that much of a geek that I change instructions in the Mac, and I just sent an email to Edimax. Thanks!

  • [solved] Wireless USB adaptor says its something its not?

So I have a TP-Link TL-WN321G USB adaptor I just purchased.  I was looking up chipset and drivers for it but when I do lsusb it comes back with
ID 148f:2070 Ralink Technology, Corp. RT2070 Wireless Adapter
This seems strange to me as everywhere I lookup this adaptor online it says its a RT2571 or RT73 drivers, yet my computer is saying RT2070 for whatever reason?
Anyone have any ideas as to why this is or does mine somehow have a different chipset?
    Thanks
Edit: Stupid enough to forget the adaptor model

I got that adaptor expecting that chipset for a certain purpose  but thats why I was confused when it didn't operate as expected and then when I checked I was like what the heck is this? It would appear I have a different revision using a different chipset now so I'll have to return it and look into getting another one then.

  • Can I use a Vodafone USB Dongle with my apple IPad 1st Generation if I have a USB adaptor for my IPad

Hi there just wondering does anyone know if I can use a Vodafone USB Dongle with my apple IPad 1st Generation 16gb (WiFi only) if I have a USB adaptor, will the IPad !st generation support a A Vodafone Dongle(Irish network)

You cannot plug a USB dongle into an iPad using the USB part of the iPad Camera Connection Kit.
The Camera Connection Kit is for connecting cameras - hence the name.
You'd need to get a MiFi device to use 3G data via WiFo on your iPad.

You need to create a DCIM directory off the root of the card, with the photos underneath it, and the photo filenames need to be exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension i.e. in a similar format as if a camera had created/written them. But a lot of USB memory sticks need more power than is supplied to the kit, so you may need a powered hub between it and kit.

  • Any USB adaptor other than PCMCIA can be used in Powerbook G3?

    Hi all,
Any USB adaptor other than PCMCIA can be used in Powerbook G3 (as no USB)?
My powerbook G3 is installed with MacOSX 10.2 and i want to access my portable Hard Disk (format under windows platform) . . . is that possible to access like "plug and play" using USB adaptor ?
    Many thanks.

    white_tiger,
You can use both FireWire and USB CardBus PC cards. CardBus supports both 32-bit and the older PCMCIA 16-bit protocols.
A FireWire PC card is natively supported in all versions of OSX...no drivers to install.
USB 1.1/2.0 PC cards are also natively supported but it gets a little more complicated:
    - The older USB 1.1 cards work fine under all versions of OSX.
    - The newer USB 2.0 cards also work under all versions of OSX with this caveat: Apple added USB 2.0 support to OSX 10.2.8 and later; if your USB 2.0 card does not have the NEC-based USB2 chipset and you are running 10.2.8 or later, the card will not work properly. USB 2.0 PC cards with the wrong chipset, however, will work properly with OSX up through 10.2.7 but at the slower 1.1 speeds..
    A few other points:
    - PC cards supply only a minimal amount of bus power, so if you want to connect a portable FW or USB HD, it will need its own power supply.
    - A Mac can only read/write to Fat and Fat32 drives; OSX 10.3 and 10.4 can see an NTFS drive but as read-only.

My system is Mac OS X v.10.6.8.
I used to work on my 3000 photos with GIMP on a P.C, but since I had a breakdown, I would like to carry on on my Mac as soon as possible.
Figuring out unaided a new OS after a breakdown is the best prescription for another breakdown.
Before going back to editing your photos, I suggest you need to familiarise yourself with your new OS. Get a book (eg, David Pogue's "Missing Manual…") -- now, that Lion's been out and about for some time, you can probably get the Snow Leopard (aka Mac OS X v10.6) edition at a discount. Take the time to read it and understand it, and you'll spare yourself a mountain of frustration. There are enough similarities between Mac OS X and Windows to fool you into believing almost everything works the same way, when, of course, it doesn't -- many similarities are only skin-deep.
Once you've done that, you'll be in a better position to install and use GIMP or look for alternatives.
where do I find the exact version (in french)
For French issues, you are probably better off checking the forums on MacBidouille or MacGeneration.

  • N80 PC Suite not-connecting via USB

Connected once via USB cable (CA-53), but won't connect again.
    N80
    PC Suite version 6.80.53.3
    Windows XP Pro version 2002
    Service Pack 2
No anti-virus running or firewall upon installation.
    Phone data cable mode-"PC Suite"
No USB connection "beep" on laptop.
No error message, just the typical "working" icon.
Did spend some time searching the discussion site, but couldn't find anything.
Appreciate any suggestions or help out there in cyber...
    Thanks

I do not recognise the PC Suite version ? If there is no bleep sound, if indicates that the physical connection does not happen, so pressing the connector firmly to its place might help, also changing the usb port in your pc

  • Asus N10 USB adaptor with EMac 10.3.9

Hi I've just got an Asus N10 USB adaptor to use on an Emac running 10.3.9 but the drivers seem to start at 10.4. Any solutions? Thanks

    Hi,
    >Do you think the Asus N13 will work on it with the correct drivers?
At least according to the following web page, the USB-N13 appears to have support for Mac OS X 10.3:
    http://www.asus.com/Networking/USBN13/#specifications
See also the page below for drivers:
    http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=USB-N13&os=30
However, do check that the above is valid for exactly the variant sold before you buy.
Depending on the eMac version, you will have either USB 1.1 or USB 2.0. A Wi-Fi adapter connected to USB 1.1 port ought to work, but the maximum speed will be limited.
Anyway, a wireless Ethernet bridge (which does not have to be that expensive) connected to the Ethernet port would be my recommendation in a case like this one.
