6230i Problems

Hi there,
Could anyone give me any ideas on how to solve these problems with my 6230i?
I find it hard to hear the phone ringing so I leave it at maximum volume, however the message tones are very quiet all the time then.
Also, from time to time , when people are ringing me, the ringtone is almost silent and its set at loud.
Im using v3.46 firmware.
Thanks for your help!

Sounds like you have a dodgy phone there, I have ver 3.30 which is quite old now and even on mine I dont have those problems, sounds like it may be a hardware issue.

  • 6230i problem please help!

    hi
just brought the nokia 6230i and i'm having problems with it.
when i'm in the middle of doing something (e.g filming a video, playing a game) the phone screen goes blank and doesn't come back on unless you press the menu button.
    and it is fully charged
    please help!

Sounds like a software issue. If the phone's under 6 months old, you may want to return it to the retailer, alternatively you could get a Nokia engineer to have a look at it for you.

  • 6230i Problem.

My 6230i has died. It stays on with all the lights on, but when i try and press a button it won't do anything. The on/off button has been dodgy for a few weeks now, so I can't turn it off, as it won't turn back on again.
Any ideas how to fix it?
I have 3 messages i wanna read haha
    Ta.

Better bring your phone to a Nokia Service Center and get it fixed.

  • 6230i memory card problem

I've recently resurrected my old 6230i and begun using it again. However in doing so I've come across a wee problem.....
The big memory card that was supplied with the phone and hidden beneath the battery is only 32Mb - hardly sufficient to use the MP3 Player to any great deal. Looking at it I asserted that it was an SD type card and I went and bought myself a 4Gb one to fit in place of the measly 32Mb effort. Imagine my annoyance when, after buying the new memory card I couldn't get it to fit - it's just slightly too thick. On closer inspection I noted that the card I've bought is actually an SDHC card - but surely that shouldn't make any odds? Would it? Do I need to buy a stricly SD card, without the wee HC ad endum? Or, do I need to buy a smaller capacity memory card, possibly a 1Gb or 2Gb, in the hope that it's of equal thickness to the 32Mb one? Or, knowing my luck, am I just doomed not to get a memory card that fits because in actual fact there isn't one, because Nokia have played a huge trick on the unsuspecting 6230i purchasers????
I await your wisdom dear forum members.
ps......I humbly apologise if this question has already been asked countless times before!!!
    Kind Regards,
    Paul-D.

The slot in the phone is for an MMC card. It may look like an SD card but not quite the same. Please do check with the card manufacturer for compatibility before buying. The phone is very old and may have compatibility issues with the higher capacity cards nowadays.

  • 6230i CAR KIT PROBLEM

    Hi All,
I have recently bought a car with a Nokia cak kit.
    Part nos;
    HFU-4
    AX-15S
    MBC-15S
Which, from my limited internet ability, understand amounts to a CARK-126 kit.
I purchased a Nokia 6230i,which I understand works with this kit, but when I connect the phone I get the message 'Enhancement not supported'.
I have cleaned the connectors with an eraser, but to no avail.
Please can anyone shed some light on the matter.
    Many thanks

The message "Enhancement not supported" suggests a compatibility problem, and from the Nokia website I could not fnd CARK-126. Where did you find out that this car kit works with the Nokia 6230i? Was the source reliable?
If it turns out that this car kit is not compatible and you do want to intall one into your car, use the Nokia website to find a suitable replacement for the CARK-126

  • Problem reading Photos on 6230i

I have a 6230i and have taken, read and saved photos in the past using Lexmark P6350 printer with MMC slot.
This time printer says it cannot find any photos and the card should be formatted. How do I do this? Can it be done without losing the photos?
All help will be appreciated. Thanks

Firstly, I'd like to let you know that I had the same problem(except it was a Canon). There is no way of formatting the card without deleting all the data on it, so the best thing to do is get a memory card reader and copy the files to your PC and then put the memory card in your phone, and when asked, format the memory card and then copy the files back to your memory card.
    Hope that helps!

  • Problems replacing a nokia 6230i on a BMW 525i

I will try to be brief. Having recently purchased a BMW 525i the car comes with a standard Nokia 62301 I was forced to abandon my Sony Erricsons K700i and P900i as they would not work with the included car kit. The 6230i broke down after 3 months and was replaced under warranty. The problem is the limitations of the 6230i synchronization, first name last name problems etc. 1-Can anyone please advise me on what phone Nokia or any other brand that is compatible with the BMW car kit , that will automatically download the phone book every time I enter the car and which has features equal to or better than the Sony Erricson P900i 2- Is it possible (if one does find such a phone) to change the cradle in the car to charge this new phone. Any assistance Providing IT WORKS would be greatly appreciated. NB BMW were no help at all!!!!!!!!!

Hi calfo, I am sorry to hear BMW were no help to you, but Nokia will be no help to you either, most BMW car kits are not designed for fancy modern phones like your p900, a simple phone like a Nokia 6310i will work a treat. Your best chance is to find a BMW forum where similar owners have already made the mistakes.
sorry we cant help further but this is a very grey area for all of us.

  • Nokia 6230i v03.40 Language Problem

    this is very strange....
when i go into the phone settings and then languages from there only the work automatic shows there and i cant change the language of the phone the strange thing is that if i insert another SIM card into the phone it works fine.
i insert my SIM card into another phone and it works fine i insert another SIM card into my phone and it works fine so i reckon the problem is with the firmware.
    cheers.....

Unfortunately with the given information I don't really know what to suggest, but I can confirm that it absolutely should not take that much time.
A note: The 6230i has 2 modes for USB data transfer, the mass storage mode that allows you to transfer files directly to memory card. Selecting mass storage mode makes your memory card visible in Windows Explorer.
If you select the PC Suite mode, you gain access to more resources in your phone (like the contacts and messages and phone memory)
In 6230i the selection is done so that when you connect the phone to cable and other end to PC, there is a pop up in the phone screen asking something like "allow data transfer ?" Selecting "yes" gives you the mass storage mode and selecting "no/reject" gives you the PC Suite mode. Not very logical, but that's how it works.
You may try the mass storage mode and maybe that is faster ?

    Hello.
I have had my standard 32MB multimedia memory card for my 6230i phone forever... but I just recently got a new laptop with a compatible 5 in 1 card reader, but the laptop does not seem to recognize my memory card at all. It doesn't appear in 'my computer' or anything. does anyone know what the problem could be?! thanks

  • 6230i PAYG Bluetooth problems

I bought a 6230i O2 PAYG phone last week and I am a bit of a technophobe with regards to mobile phones (it is a replacement for my old 3210, no less!!??)
Anyway, to cut a long story short, I tried to pair phones with a work colleague to transfer a file via bluetooth, but whilst it found the phone to pair with, as soon as I selected 'pair', I kept getting the message 'unable to pair'.
Do I need to upload particular service settings (I haven't wap enabled it, for example) to the phone in order for bluetooth to work, or could I be having a hardware problem of some sort??
    Thanks in advance.

I think sending files should work without pairing.
    Just 'Send via Bluetooth'.

  • 6230i Bluetooth connectivity problems

    Sorry for long posting...
I have recently purchased a 6230i to replace my 6310i.
I previously used a CA-42 USB cable for the 6310i but that is reported by the 6230i as incompatible - grrh.
And now I am trying to set up the Bluetooth connectivity.
I have (eventually) managed to get the 6230i paired to my Laptop using a Belkin USB Bluetooth and the Belkin software running on WinXP (IBM T41 laptop). PC Suite runs but seems to be a little unreliable over Bluetooth - will address that by sourcing a DKU-2 cable.
However, I have problems with pairing the 6230i with my Sony HBH-600 headset (works perfectly with 6310i) I can get the 6230i to discover the headset either by searching for audio enhancements or by setting up a new pair, however it always fails to set up the connection (never asks for passkey).
Similarly I cannot get my Ipaq 5550 to pair with the 6230i. I can start the pairing from the Ipaq which finds the 6230i but the 6230i never acknowledges the pairing attempt which then fails. If I start the pairing process from the 6230i it finds the Ipaq and attempts to pair but never asks to setup a passkey - the Ipaq does not seems to receive the pairing attempt.
I have set the auto connect option to yes and no with no difference.
    Any suggestions ?
Needless to say all this worked perfectly with the 6310i.

    Further to original post
The Bluetooth connectivity all works between the IBM T41, Ipaq 5550, Sony HBH600 headset and a Nokia 6810 phone.
So the problem appears to be the Nokia 6230i phone.
Further research gives some rather disapointing information.
    http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=2629
If you have problems performing pairing between an iPAQ 1940/2210 and the Nokia 6230 and continually get an error similar to "Cannot pair devices for security reasons" then it's related to the problem outlined in that document.
This is a Hardware issue and not a software issue related to the WIDCOMM BTW-CE Product. There are two types of keys that can be used for pairing:
    - Combination keys
    - Unit keys
The key type that is used is pre-set in the Bluetooth Radio Firmware. The WIDCOMM BTW-CE Bluetooth software
does not control this setting. The radio on the iPAQ 1940 uses unit keys by default. These Nokia phones reject the use of unit keys in pairing because it is not as secure as combination keys.
Users of older HP iPAQ models should check the HP Drivers page for the latest OS or Bluetooth software for their devices.
I note that my Ipaq is older than the two models mentioned and that my headset is 16 months old. So it looks as if the 6230i is going back - stupid no backwards compatibility.
thanks to Geekzone for the info.

  • 6230i software update to solve problem

I tried to update the software on my 6230i and the system says that this model is not supported. Where do I go from here? Will it be updatable at some point or is it a no go ever?
I am trying to sort out a ringer problem, it is set to vol level 5 but sometimes rings at 1 and then maybe raise itself louder during the ringing cycle.
    Any help?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The 6230i is an old model that pre-dates the existence of the software update, so it has never been compatible. With models of this age, you only option is to take the phone to a Nokia service point.

  • 6230i sending and receiving txt message problems.

I am hoping someone can help me solve this ongoing problem that i have had for over 2yrs now and i keep gettin fobbed off by o2. Ok i have a nokia 6230i and when i send txts to a particular number and them to me i am not getting them nor are they getting mine. Some days the txts work fine but its rare,I can send say a txt at 2pm and they get it,if i send one at 3pm they may not and this can go on for days and then it will work again for a little while.
Its a very frustrating problem as i am on contract and these txs are getting wasted as the person is not receiving them even though it says they are sent. I hope someone can shed some light on this problem for me,i would greatly appreciate it.

You problem is quite strange and difficult to isolate between the phone or network.
Do you always get the "message sent" message, even when the txt is not received by the recipient? Have you tried txts with your sim card in another o2 phone?
