I am struggling with Nokia 6234 and Syncml client in Ubuntu Linux. Please support Ubuntu Linux.

When I check for service - sdptool browse

I get an error saying connected. But "unable to read one of the member"!
Nokia, your help in this is much appreciated in advance. It will be wrong to say that you do not support Ubuntu Linux in the year 2008.

Nokia 6234 and Audi A6 car

I have the 6234 and a Audi A6 car and the phone is connected via BT to the car, exporting the phone numbers stored in the mobile and sim so that i can access them from the car display (MMI).
Unfortunately, i do not know for what reason, quite often the BT connection between car and phone get lost and i need to switch the BT off and than on to reconnect. Of course this is quite annoying since it happens too often.
Since i cannot change the car, i'd like to buy a new Nokia but i need it to support the exporting address to the car Multi Media Interface. I have test some Nokia phones (N73 and N70 and also 6230i) but with none of them i can access the addresses stored in the phone/sim from the car MMI. I can phone but i need to access the addresses
So, what is a reliable phone with a good BT that can be used with my car and allow me to use the phone numbers stored in the phone/sim via the Multi Media Interface of the Audi A6?

Ok, here how it goes, the best source to advise you about this issue is the source that put this car kit together i.e. Audi. This is for the reason that they usually test these systems with different models of phones. They know which components have been included and what BT version is being used. In relation to the phone that you are using at present I advise you to restore the fact settings and check that you have the latest software version available to your phone model and network. To restore fact settings – type *#7780# from the standby mode depending on your model you may have to choose settings only and create a security code or use the default one 12345. Oracle Calendar MacOSX and SyncML

Hi!
I am a bit lost after reading tons of threads and links...
Here my questions:
1. I sync my Pocket PC running WM5 and SyncML client from Synthesis.ch to sync with Space2go.com, which works fine. On the other side I would love to sync that server with Oracle Calendar. Unfortunately the server address given is not being accepted by Oracle Calendar.
What could be the issue? The server address is http://sync.sync2go.com/sync/ml.dll
Could it be that Ocal does not support SyncML?
2. I have no clue why I cannot import any ics files from iCal into my agenda. I get the error message: There are no valid entries to import!
Am I completely on the wrong track or could someone enlighten me?

I had the same problem using Oracle's iCalendar Import option with some iCAL files, this is what I learned:
Using: Oracle calendar client V10.1.2.0.0.710 for Mac OS X (I have not tested on Windows client).
The iCAL (.ics) file was generated from IBM Lotus Notes 7.
ie. "PRODID:-//Lotus Development Corporation//NONSGML Notes 7.0//EN"
Issues:
-- 1. Time zone string using by IBM was not supported by Oracle in format "Eastern".
needed: America/New_York
-- 2. If the event has "RECURRENCE-ID" line it will not import into Oracle
-- 3. Events with RDATE line and "VALUE=PERIOD" in will not import into Oracle
Details:
I have found solutions four problems in the iCS file from IBM that stop the import:
1. Time Zone not valid:
     DTSTART;TZID="Eastern":20070529T140000
     DTEND;TZID="Eastern":20070529T150000
Change in to:
     DTSTART;TZID=America/New_York:20070529T140000
     DTEND;TZID=America/New_York:20070529T150000
fixes the problem.
2. Time zone not valid ie.:
     TZID:Eastern
changed to:
     TZID:America/New_York
fixes the problem.
3. deleting the line:
RECURRENCE-ID;RANGE=THISANDFUTURE:20070529T173000Z
4. PROBLEM: "PERIOD" format not support converting to "DATE" works.

Oracle could at least give some "console log" message or feedback in eeror dialog saying what wrong with events when they import or at least at what Line the first error occurs!

CSDK and SyncML interop?

Hi,
For various reasons (mainly because the CSDK is too slow and does not support diffing) I want to use SyncML for parts of my app.
However, in some cases the UID property returned in the SyncML iCalendar items is not the same as that returned by the CSDK (sometimes they are the same). This is a big problem for me because it makes it very difficult to use both methods of accessing the server.
Is there any algorithm to map between the 2 UIDs?
The SyncML UIDs that are different start with 'E1' and look like this:
E1+33900085+10000+448747936@I1+33900085+10000+11+448747936
Whereas the CSDK UID for that event looks like this:
20050321T201216Z-2054635-2710-6dfe9e8c-Oracle
I notice that the iCalendar from the CSDK does contain X-ORACLE-EVENTINSTANCE-GUID and X-ORACLE-EVENT-GUID properties that correspond to the 'E1+...' and 'I1+...' parts of the SyncML UID.
However, unless I've missed something, there is no way to search for an event using either of those GUIDs with the CSDK.
Can I ask why, between the CAPI, the CSDK and SyncML, Oracle has 3 different UIDs for each item? Isn't that a bit, uh, excessive?

Update: I realise that the UIDs are different when the event is a repeating event. Still, I'm very interested in any way to get around this. Basically, given the UID and DTSTART that I get from SyncML, how do I get that instance of the event from the CSDK?

6234 and ck-7w issue

I have discovered an issue with my new 6234 when used with my ck-7w. I can press and hold the ck button to initiate voice dialling, however when I want to end the call the button doesn't respond, I have to end the call by pressing end on the phone itself.
It worked perfectly well with my previous 6230i.
Anyone else having the same issue or can offer a solution?

My 6234 and new Mondeo(2007)

The connection with bluetooth on my phone and car works fine, but i can't view my phonelist in the car. I know that you can download a SIS file, but that's only for symbian-phones.
Is there any other way i could view the list of my contacts on my audio-device in the car.

I have also have this problem on a 2006 Audi A3. The carkit just does not want to retrive the contact list from the phone. If anyone knows how to get past this please inform us.

Help with Nokia 6234

Hi,
Hopefully someone can help me with this question. My workplace has recently upgraded our work phone to Nokia 6630's - beacuse they have a Symbian OS. My personal take on the 6630 is that the menu system and keys aren't very intuitive, its big and bulky and not nice to text on.
I currently have a Nokia 6234 and I much prefer this phone over the 6630. HOWEVER it doesnt have the Symbian OS.
Is there a way to upgrade the hardware/software on my phone to the Symbian OS?

Hi all, I was looking for a document (if any) reporting a compatibilty matrix between the different mobile phones (e.g. Nokia, Blackberry, Iphone) and their REAL (and I mean REAL) compatibility with the main functions that CalDav and SyncML protocols should present as services on Oracle Beehive.

Is it science fiction to even just think of such a document? I don't know how much this question can be interesting, but for instance I was very much disappointed that after upgrading firmware to the 3.0 on my Iphone, all that I can do with CalDav is to get access to different calendars, but NOT INTERACTIVELY. No editing of the appointments, no confirm/deny. Regarding Contacts, it just syncs with LDAP servers, and I don't think Beehive has any LDAP on its own.
The other option is to use a 3rd party software that doesn't work well either and has many disadvantages (not integrated with the native functions of the phone itself)
Well, thinking on a company point of view, wishing to have Beehive, I believe such a document should play a very important part in the setup strategy.

You're right... Anyway, I realize that putting down such a document could be very expensive in terms of time and money... But one thing could be done for sure: stating which mobiles are recommended by Oracle as "beehive compliant". 2, 3 models/brands... It would save a lot of disappointing experiences to customers...
And, just to be clear... I'm not blaming Oracle for not supporting all the mobile phones on the planet... Beehive is a wonderful application. It's just that sometimes, if a standard like CalDav or SyncML turns out NOT BEING A REAL STANDARD, at least having some directions would be so useful...

6234: Selecting Word Suggestions on predictive tex...

I have a Nokia 6234 and according to the user guide, I should be able to select Word Suggestions on predictive text. However I've been looking at all the possible menu options and haven't found this yet.
When writing a message, if I press Options, of the 17 items that are listed, only one of them concerns prediction and that is "Prediction off" (or "Prediction on" depending on what text writing mode the phone is in at that time). There is no Prediction sub-menu as the user guide seems to suggest, and I haven't seen any menu item called "Word suggestions"
Any ideas?

I just bought my phone in Sydney, Australia about 3 weeks ago and have the same problem, every thing else is fine.
The dealer suggested I go to Nokia for a software upgrade - the version I have is V05.10 21-12-06.
Does anyone else have this problem too? If you don't (ie word suggestions works) what firmware version do you have, is is OK?

6234 SIM registration failed??

Okay, nokia 6234, was on vodafone nz but changed to 2degrees, was fine for a couple of months but then I noticed someting about my service - there was none. I changed my SIM back to vodafone and whenever phone turned on/send a msg/call "SIM registration failed" comes up. hmm. tried the vodafone SIM in another 6234 and same thing happened, put a new 2degrees SIM in mine and nothing changed, but the new SIM worked in the other 6234...

You should contact your service provider (Operator). They probably can tell you if there is some problems in your Sim card

i have a nokia 6234 and now i don´t have the same internal memory...free memory 196kb, sms 32.2kb, aplications 253kb and "others" 24.8...i don´t know what to do to restore the memory...can anyone help?

u could try resetting factory settings but this would lose all your info. r u aware that your memory will fall dependent on how much info u have used????

I can see the option of Archive the SMS which will transfer the SMS in the Archive folder.

How do I Sync a desktop app with a mobile app when cradled?

I have a project where I need to sync data between a desktop application and an application on the device when cradled. Does anyone have a suggestion on where I could find an example?

I love BlackBerry technologies but data communication between a BlackBerry and a PC is far from easy (= very tough) and very specific to the BlackBerry world.
You could do your school project with a Windows Mobile device that does LDAP and SyncML. Those are mainstream standards, very well documented.

Delete the user mail box when un-enrollment

When a user separates from the company, we need to perform the un-enrollment process. As a part of this process we need to remove the user's Active sync email account configured on the WP8. Is it possible to achieve the same using the DM client and SyncML?
If that is possible, then can you please provide a sample syncML command to remove the active sync email account.

The device would have to be under management by one of the MDM vendors such as
SilverbackMDM. If you have the physical device, then I would suggest contacting the hardware vendor and performing a device wipe. To use the Device Management client the device will first need to be under management.

Import/Sync of contacts into calendar

Hi all,
we have the following problem on OCS 10g (10.1.2.0.0).
We have tried to import contacts from various sources into the OCS. This works fine with Calendar Fat Client, Outlook Connector and SyncML. However, the problem is that the "Save as"-field is not being synchronised!! The most of our users have changed the "Save as" field fitting to their personal needs at their source address books and they want to have to migrate it to OCS without changes.
I did not find any setting in OCS to change the behavior of always assigning the name as "Save as"-entry. Also, i tried various formats (csv, .pab, syncml) but we got the same problem everytime.
Can anyone help? Thank you!

Even the Asha 305 can't sync anymore because of Google removing the support for Syncml. Maybe one should go and fight with Google about this.
Don't you have the Mail for Exchange app on your 501? I'm unsure if that's available, but it will let you sync your contacts and calendar with your Microsoft Account.
