6280 and headset symbol on phone?

I have a nokia 6280. Today I noticed a small headset symbol on my phone, and I do not know how that appeared. I live in America and this phone was not released here, so when I contacted nokia they told me they could not help me. I've tried contacting the nokia international support number, but that number is always busy. When I call people I can't hear anyone on the other end, even though I am able to dial successfully. Does anyone know how I can get rid of this symbol?

Actually switching it off and on is not going to do anything, you must clean the connector because there might a bit of dirt in there, but do this with the phone off.
Switching one and off worked for me on my old 6230.

  • 6280 and music headset HS-20

Nokia are promoting the 6280 as a multimedia phone with great music capabilities. Hmm... other than a memory card slot (which is pretty standard on any modern phone) along with pretty basic and unintuitive music software, the only other thing the phone potentially has going for it is the headsets.
The supplied headset is OK so far as it's got an inline volume control and you can skip tracks (although only forward, not back). Unfortunately the headphones are terrible, not much point having high quality MP4 music when it comes out sounding little better than AM radio.
The solution appears to be the HS-20, an inline remote with standard headphone jack socket so you can plug in some decent quality third-party headphones. Except it's not listed as being compatible with the 6280!
I find this a bit hard to believe that the 6280 isn't capable of being controlled by the HS-20. It supports the HS-6 "display headset" which can do everything the HS-20 does, plus display the current track. Unfortunately the HS-6 is junk as the **bleep**py AM radio effect headphones are hard-wired on this one.
Can anyone confirm whether the HS-20 is actually incompatible with the 6280, and assuming it is are we likely to ever see support via a firmware upgrade? If not I guess it's time to look towards Ericsson, who seem to do music a whole lot better than Nokia don't.
    Cheers
    Paul.

Having a pop-port connector, it should be compatible with the 6280, it's just that it's not available separately yet. The AD-46 is similar except it replicates only what's on the in-built headphone control (forward, volume up/down, mic) and doesn't include the earbuds themselves. BTW the HD-41 is the same as the HS-20, but without the earbuds.

So do I. According to the Nokia site it's capable of working with at least one Series 40v3 device - the 7360/70. You can comfirm this yourself by going to a CPW or similar, and asking to see a 3250, which has this adaptor in the box.

Maybe, maybe. But most Ericssons don't have 3.5mm jack plugs either, and the headphones supplied aren't much better than the Nokia things. Also you'll have to spring for Ericsson's proprietary - and very expensive - Memory Stick cards, instead of the SD card now being adopted by Nokia and most of the rest of the industry. The software is much better, though. FWIW the HD-46 works fine with the 6280. Until the HS-20/AD-41 is freely available I wouldn't place too much faith in the accuracy of Nokia's website.

After updating my Iphone 4s to os 7.1.1 from 7.1 over the air, my phone went into recovery mode. Yet when I try to restore it with Itunes on my windows 7 laptop it says the network connection has been reset. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network is active, or try again later. My phone has the itunes logo and charger symbol on it, as well as an arrow pointing at the Itunes logo. After holding the sleep button down or even doing the hard reset the same screen comes up on my phone regardless of whether it is plugged in or not to my computer. I have turned my computer off and on again. It is plugged in and charging as it's battery life is very short. I also reset my modem and the same error message pops up. The only option on my computer when my phone is plugged in is to restore it. My firewall also allows Itunes through it. I have literally tried everything I know being someone who knows very little about technology. I also do not want to hear about how the update worked for other people. My phone has been in recovery mode for 5 hours at least now so it will just make me more frustrated if a bunch of people post about how the update worked for them.

    Hi vijayanandhtkp,
It sounds like you are getting the Connect to iTunes screen as discussed in this article.

iphone 4 won't turn on after an update, itunes symbol and charging symbol keep showing up but nothing happens when you press any buttons

    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPho fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Headset symbol

    Hi
The headset symbol is stuck on the screen of my phone I cannot make outgoing calls or receive incoming calls manually I have never had a headset on the phone any one help me get rid of this and start using my phone

Clean the pop-port (I'm guessing you have a pop-port phone, and I'm having to guess because you didn't say what phone you have).
Moisture and various kinds of goo in the pop-port are notorious for causing the phone to think that a headset is present. The pins in the pop-port that are normally shorted out by a headset in order to signal its presence end up being shorted out by the moist goo.

  • Headset symbol has appeared of my screen Nokia E50

Hello I have this problem and I don't know what to do...
I have restore phone to factory default, restart and take out battery for 5 minute, I don't know what to do. Please help me.
If connect hands free, I can use phone with any problem, but if I try to use the phone without hands free, don't hear anything, I try to connect phone to PC and update software, it doesn't work.

If you have a Headset symbol stuck on your screen but have no headset plugged in, its probably down due to the pop port at the bottom of the handset.
This normally shorts or fuses together inside the phone when exposed to some type of liquid.
You will need to take this to a Nokia Care Point and they will need to check inside the handset for you.
If it has got wet, then it is not covered under the manufacturers warranty.
You can find the nearest NCP to you at the Store Locator

  • Nokia asha 200 - Headset symbol remains even after...

My nokia asha 200 thinks headset is plugged in even after removal. Also when ever i plug in the headset, while music player is on, the song automatically changes to the next. Also when i insert or remove the headset during call the call ends automatically. But if i switch off and on the phone the headset symbol disappears and reappears after inserting for the first time and won't go even after removing it. I have to switch it off and on everytime to get rid of the symbol.  The same happened with other nokia headsets also. what could be the cause? How can i solve the problem?

We are working on having a solution for this (fairly common) problem, that the Nokia browser may break after the over-the-air browser update.
In the meantime the only solution are to take the phone to a Nokia Care service point for reflashing or to use e.g. Opera Mini instead.

  • Nokia 6280 and errors with iSync

I have purchased a nokia 6280 and paired the phone to my mac. I am wanting to sync my address book and calendars from my mac to my phone.
I can send individual cards from Address Book by selecting the card and then going to CARDS>>SEND THIS CARD. When I try to sync using iSync 2.3. I receive the message
[Nokia 6280] Connection to the phone failed.
Please make sure that your phone is turned on. If this error occurs again, please restart your phone.
    Device "Nokia 6280" synchronization failed
My phone does not promtp me to accept a connection. Any suggestions?

    Hi hobitton,
I have had this problem before and i took it to a nokia service centre, i told them to clean it and also i told them if it was common, they said it was very common and the man said it happens to all the 6280's (mostly), then he cleaned it for me, i think i know how to clean it but i have NEVER cleaned it myself because i don't want to void my precious 24 months warranty but i'll give you some advice, NEVER try to clean this phone even if you had a solution NEVER clean it.

  • HELP: symbol netvision phone w/cisco 350

    Hello
I am having trouble setting up a symbol netvision phone with my cisco ap 350 that is running 12.01T. Basically, when the phone powers up it finds the SSID for my network (if i enable the broadcast SSID). It does not seem to get an IP Address/mask. It constantly displays "No Network". I have read the caveats for this release...there is mention that the symbol phone may display this message and there is no workaround present. If anyone has a working config on the AP, please email me at [email protected] Also it would be good to know if anyone has gotten this to work with release 12.01T. I have symbol extensions enable and the preamble is set to long....Thanks!

I think the only thing you can do is to use Cisco Aironet 1100/1200 AP,instead of Cisco 350 series AP.
This isssue is not present in 1200 and 1100AP.

  • IPhone 4 Docking unit and Headset

Hi All, I have an iPhone 4 and I want a docking unit where the standard (supplied) headset can be plugged in to the docking unit and used to make calls (not listen to music etc as I need mic pass through)
Please could someone let me know if the standard iPhone 4 dock supports this? The product info states it has line out for audio but no mention of whether it supports mic input
I know I can still plug the headset in the phone but I dont want to do this everytime I dock and undock and would just like to leave the headset in the dock unit.
If the standard dock doesnt support this, is anyone able to recommend one that does?
    Thanks for any help

In case anyone else comes accross this and want to know the same thing, I got the standard iPhone 4 dock and it does work with the headset (inc Microphone)
