  • 6280, Not being recognised by PC Suite in Default ...

Using the latest service pack of XP, the latest build of Nokia's PC Suite and the CA-53 USB Connector Cable for my 6280 I am trying to connect to my PC. Its not being picked up by the suite. The computer recognises the phone. Ive reinstalled the connector driver to be sure. The phone is in Default mode. When I put it into Data Storage mode I am recognised by the suite but told the mode is incompatible by the suite icon in the system tray. Adobe album launches automatically when i connect in data storage mode. I hope I have given enough information, can anyone help?

when you connect the phone in default mode and open device manager in PC, do you see any question mark usb devices on the list ? If yes, highlight the device, with mouse right click select uninstall, boot PC and then try to connect the phone again in default mode when PC is again on.

  • 6280, 6230 and Nokia PC Suite - no calendat sync

I am using version 6.81.13.0 of PC Suite on a late-model Dell 9300 notebook. I connect using a Nokia CA-53 USB cable supplied with my 6280 phone. The PC is running Windows XP Professional SP2 with all available Microsoft patches.
Until recently, I was using a Nokia 6230 phone and an older version of PC Suite. The calendar was sent from the PC to the phone with no problem at all, and I could always refer to my phone to check my calendar. This connection used Bluetooth.
When my new 6280 arrived, I loaded the PC Suite software from the 6280 CD. The software immediately demanded an update from the Nokia website, which I downloaded and installed. After a couple of successful bluetooth connections, suddenly neither phone would sync with Outlook.
Very soon after that, no Bluetooth connection would work at all, and I resorted to the USB cable. With the USB cable, the phones communicate with the Sync software, but no data is sent to either phone. I have removed the software, used the Nokia PC Suite Cleaner, reinstalled, created new profiles and tried every single option, but the system simply will not sync.
Can anyone help? By upgrading my phone, I have lost my sync facility altogether.
Here's the system info from PC Suite:
    Operating system:
    Microsoft Windows XP
    Build 2600
    Service Pack 2
    Language: English (United States)
Language for non-Unicode programs: English (United States)
    Locale: English (United Kingdom)
    Input language: English (United Kingdom)
    Nokia PC Suite:
    Version 6.81.13.0
    Language: English
    Connectivity Cable Drivers:
    Version 6.81.1.2
    Microsoft Outlook:

    Microsoft Bluetooth stack
    Version 5.1.2600.2180
    WIDCOMM Bluetooth stack
    Version 4.0.1
    Build 2401

The difficulties people with XP SP 2 (with Microsoft Bluetooth) and any other Bluetooth(like Widcomm) are having, is really sad.
YOu can try to run arepair to PC Suite and Nokia Connecitivty solution from add/remove programs and see if that helps.
Also check that is the Bluetooth software you are using (I cannot tell by looking at your list), is working with the phone.
    Last resort:
I can only suggest that you start from scrach, uninstall the widcomm, Pc Suite and Connectivity solution, run Pc suite cleaner and reinstall PC Suite(includes the connectivity solution).

  • Connecting 6280 to PC Suite - having trouble - hel...

Can anyone help me with connecting my 6280 to my PC? My PC is recognising the connection but PC Suite isn't.
I am stumped and have read the Nokia Troubleshooting pages, but to no avail.
My iPod has packed it in and I really want to transfer some music to my phone, but cannot do so until I can connect the phone!!
Any suggestions would be REALLY helpful...
    Thanks

I can't offer a proper solution (having problems myself) but here's a possible work round for you.
If your phone has a memory card you could copy the MP3s straight to the card via a card reader and then put it into the phone.

  • 6280 phone update from PC Suite

when a SMS message is sent via my 6280 from PC Suite 6.8 it does not appear in the sent items folder on the phone or produce a delivery report - if sent from the phone all works well except that a delivery report icon does not appear on the screen, my 6310 worked perfectly - do i need to upgrade any firmware - am with Orange
    Adrian Biggs

let's not confuse Nokia PC Suite to this yet. When you are only using the phone, what you say is that the messages you send do actually apprear in the receivers phones, but your phone screen does not show "message sent" and the icon indicating that a message is about to go is not there ? That sounds strange, maybe you can restore factory swettings to your phone with *#7370# and see if that helps ?

  • Nokia 6280 connectivity cable/PC Suite

hi! i have a new 6280 and have installed all PCSuite and cable drivers software and updates. i have a CA-53 cable. below are all the specs. i followed installation instructions correctly. when i get to the Get Connected setup window, i click "cable connection", then "next" and connect the phone and cable to the pc. nothing happens in this window, but i get a windows error message that says "the device has malfunctioned" and "windows doesn't recognise it."
after a minute or so, my phone sees it has a cable connected and i choose the default mode, but still the "Get Connected" setup window doesn't see it, and windows gives the same error message bubble as before.
i tried selecting the phone in PC Sync, but it doesn't find my phone.
i also check the settings for "cable connection" in the Connection Manager, but the configure button stays deactivated. i've tried rebooting, uninstalling/reinstalling, but nothing works to continue with the setup. the only thing that seems to have worked is in "My Computer" i can see the Nokia Phone Browser and access that. but it only shows how to add a new contact or write a text message.
now i'm just wondering if i need to have my phone chip card activated, meaning that it's online and can make calls. well, it won't be activated for another week. is that what this is all about? if it is, it's not clear in the setup. it only states that this section of the setup is for connecting the phone to the computer, and no mention at all about connecting to the internet or my phone line provider.
all i want to do is continue the installation of the software and i want windows to recognise it.
i checked the help files and did as they say. the device manager has no listing of any nokia products - wireless or otherwise.
please can you tell me what to do? thanks.
    Operating system:

Bluetooth stack: Microsoft Bluetooth stack Version 5.1.2600.2180

While phone connected to PC, right click My computer - manage - device manager and see if there are any unknwn yellow question mark devices. If yes, highlight it - right click - uninstall.
    Boot PC
Also battery boot your phone and run factory settings to it.
Now connect the phone again and see if it pops up the question about the USB mode right away (that is how it should work and not wait for a minute to appear.
I have 6280 and I tried to connect it without the SIM card and it connected normally. I also got the question in phone about the USB mode immediately.
But, I don't know is there a difference if you connect the phone to PC first time ever without a SIM
If it continues to be so that the USB mode does not pop up, I would consider taking the phone to a service center.

  • PC Suite:Restoring backup to new phone 6280

I've had a 6280 for ages, using it extensively, it developed a fault and was due to be replaced, so backed up via PC Suite (latest version 6.82). Now won't restore to new 6280 phone, even though it's clearly there as being backed up (approx. 9583kb).Starts going gets to about 20% on contacts then just freezes. Please help. I've looked at questions but can't see what to do. Thanks

Hi, Contacted ClubNokia, who sent me a link to: Contact Transfer application which should assist with extracting your contacts from the backup file.
Please note that this application requires PC Suite 6 .82 to be installed and will only restore contacts from the backup file, no other content type will be restored. The backup file must be located in the default location used by PC Suite which is as follows:
    C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Nokia\ContentCopier
This application does not delete any data from the handset before restoring the contacts from the backup file. If a contact that is present in the backup file is already on the handset it will be duplicated during the restore process. We would therefore advise you to delete any contacts that you know are included in the backup from the phone so that they are not duplicated. Only contacts from backup files of the type .nbu can be restored using this application.
PLEASE NOTE: ***The Contact Transfer application does not replace Nokia Content Copier and is not officially supported by Nokia***
This did the trick! So I'm back up and runnning. Thanks

  • Suite still failing to recognise 6280 on XP

For a very long time I used PC Suite 6.7 which was supplied with my 6280 upon purchase. I just got a new comp using the same software (XP Pro) and proceeded to try install and update the latest Suite programme. I have tried every suggestion on this site and as a result fear i may be overlooking something simple!
After sucessfully installing the programme (ie no errors apearing upon boot up) the 6280 is recognised by the computer by saying Nokia "6280 parent hardware recognised". Windows starts up the "Found new Hardware Wizard" offering to look for software. PC Suite loks and looks and can't find the phone. I have tried all 4 USB ports, rebooted, repaired, tried installing the old 6.7 off the CD and updating. No matter what I can't get the new comp to recognide my phone!

And I should add, I know I need to let the programme know which USB port it is looking for but Suite only lets me tag Comm Port 1. There are no other options. For that reason I tried all ports. My last comp only had 2 ports where this one has 4. I have always been a Nokia user but after purchasing the 6280 and now this I'm losing patience very very quickly.

  • 6280- bluetooth videos to pc- nokia pc suite

I have sent a couple of videos from my phone, to my pc, via bluetooth. I tried opening them- no luck. I tried to open them using Nokia PC suite. They still wont open. I get and error message saying 'The content format of the opened file is not supported'. They are 3gp files...just little videos I have recorded my self on my nokia 6280 which are then not supported by Nokia PC Suite. There is also no option (that I can see) to change the format (tried looking under file, save as!)
    Any ideas people???
    XXX

In actual fact I had this problem a couple of days ago, it seems as if the files transferred over from phone to PC (be it via cable or bluetooth) cannot be played on a PC...
    Has anyone successfully done this?
My video clip was approx 6MB and doesn't play with PC Suite, Media Player, Real Player, Quck Time or WinAmp.
Using Nokia Multimedia Player V1.1 in Nokia PC Suite V6.70.22. The error message I get is:

  • Restore 6280 data to 6120C Via PC suite

    Hi,
I have a 6280 that I backup using PC Suite, I am interested in buying a 6120 Classic, if I do will I be able to restore my data from the 6280 to the 6120 with them being different os?

Nokia PC Suite handles both of the phones, so you should not have any problems doing that eventhough the one is a Symbian phone and the other one a Series 40 phones.
Experience and persistence are second to none just ask user one.

  • Things you need to know about 6280

Hi everybody, I used to have a 6680 and I say this with regret. Why? I gave it to my girlfriend as a gift. Now that was a good sturdy functional phone. Now I bought a 6280 from Vodafone. I wanted a N70 but the Vodafone representative recommended this one. I chose to go with the 6280 because the N70 looked a little bit too fragile. She also said there are no significant differences. Well, she couldn’t be more wrong. Let me tell you why. The first thing I should mention is that 6280 is not a symbian phone! This, for who knows what it means, it is a lot. I wasn’t aware. You cannot switch between applications for one. So now since I bought it, I gave it a go, see what it is all about. Nice graphics, big screen, no problems (I read here somebody had some). The first annoying thing that hit me is the back light. Goes out in an instant. Or 10 seconds they say. Depends on how you measure time. The problem is you cannot adjust that. Neither the contrast. Nor the luminosity. Some people find these features useful. Nokia seems doesn’t. Some people said on this forum that the sliding front does not have a good grip. Mine seem to do. Navigating through folders is somewhat frustrating but this is subjective. Another thing you should know is that you cannot set the memory card as the default storage space and the phone memory is small. Just about 5MB free with … nothing on it. But I guess you can get around that and be happy with what you have. Now for the real problems. One big issue for me was synchronizing with Outlook. I got it working in the first try. No problems there. But when checking the contact list on the phone … well, disappointment. The 6280 does not record company name, job title and birthday. This is a huge problem for somebody well organized like me. Birthdates are saved in calendar but they do not show up in the contact details. Try finding a birthday through the entire calendar! Second thing that got me down is that the contact phones have no area codes. This you might say “well, it’s ok”. Not if you modify something and then you get your contact updated in Outlook with no area codes. Again BIG problem. My second frustration was with the email accounts. It was hell to figure out how to configure and then I realized. If you have multiple email accounts … you should get another phone. 6680 is good. I assume any symbian enabled phone will do. Not this one. You cannot have all the emails grouped or in separate folders at least as it is on s60 phones. No. here you have to go to “Menu – Settings – Configuration – Personal Config Settings – select other email account and activate it”. Then you go back and go into the email folder. Good job Nokia! I think they could have found a worst sequence to do it. Also, get this, I assume (99% I know) that the emails get stored in the phone memory. You have no way of moving to memory card and no way of reading office or pdf files. Note that on symbian there are applications to do it. As for the battery, I don’t know yet. It did not last one day anyway but I gave it a good run and I know it will improve after several recharges. The good things I know about this phone is that the video has a good quality. I cannot say for pictures because I do have a professional digital SLR camera and I cannot compare without being mean. It is still a phone. The radio is average. Good enough I say. Small note to end this. The phone should have predictive text input. Should, because it is not in the menu. A problem that a firmware update should resolve. I don’t know to what version since I might have the last one. It is: v 03.60 10-02-06. I would buy another model. If you are like me, pay attention to all I had to say. Cheers!

Good posts a lot of information I needed or to know, or more so wish I'd known prior to purchasing the 6280. Came across this post while trying to find resolutions to a number of the 'problems' with this model that you've listed, or for accuracy's sake functional and features missing from this phone or poorly develop, in comparison to other models.
Fact: One 'bug' that hasn't been raised in these posts is the management of a contact thumbnail's through PC Suite does work. Adding a thumbanil on the PC doesn't appear on the phone, and adding a thumbnail on the phone doesn't appear on the PC.
Oppinion: The lack of management/handling of Company name & Birthday were the killer for me!
Fact: Also I've only had the phone about 2 days now and I've had it just stop and mysteriously restart on me about 4 times. Admittly I've been using it a lot but not doing anything out of the ordinary to expect that.
Oppinion: On the plus side the screens resolution great, and the photos very good for a phone. Neat little cropping tool, but nothing to rotate. Although the camera doesn't have a protector the case can be replace fixing and scratches! The phone is generally pretty responsive, boots and shuts down very quickly too.
Oppinion: I'm probably being over critical here but the video call's camera at half arms length barely shows your whole face, at full arms length it's 'closer' to what you'd see on a passport. Although at this distance viewing the person your calling is more difficult. The phone has a good digital zoom in-out feature during a video call. But given the small portion of you shown under normal circumstances I don't imagine this would get used often. Admittly it was entertaining to keep the phone where it was and zoom in on my eye, but it's entertainment value will wear off (or maybe i could call me iridologist).

  • Is There A Fix For The Looping PC Suite 6.84?

I can no longer use my Nokia 6280 with my PC, since I upgraded to the latest build of PC Suite. I get a looping that completely disables my computer that involves the Microsoft User-Mode Framework.
    Here is my configuration -
Microsoft Windows XP Build 2600 Service Pack 2
Nokia 6280 with no firmware updates
Nokia PC Suite 6.84.10(the latest download from Nokia)
The looping starts as soon as Nokia PC suite loads on start-up. I have to shut-down the computer and reboot without loading PC suite to use my computer. Makes no difference what connection I use(cable, Bluetooth, etc)
I removed the offending PC Suite upgrade and reloaded the software from the CD that came with my phone which is Nokia PC Suite 6.6.18 and it no longer works with the phone with any connection method.
Can someone please advise on a fix?
    Thanks.

    Good day,
Sorry to bother everyone since I finally found a fix.
I am using a Toshiba Satellite M60 with Window XP and the Nokia 6280. I upgraded the Toshiba BlueTooth Stack from 3.10 to 5.10.06 and the looping stopped. It was not easy getting the BT Stack update from Toshiba since they do list an updated BT Stack for the M60. I was able to use the latest BT Stack for the A200 as the upgrade path, which worked fine.
    Hope that helps. Thanks.
