6280 - Quirks & Reboots while playing MP3

MP3:
I received an MP3 (it's a "chavie" version of a Gwen Stefani song) from a friend who has a Motorola. The MP3 plays fine on his phone, but every time I play it on mine, at around 8.5 seconds, the phone reboots. I forwarded it to a different friend with a Nokia (not sure of the model#) and it played fine. She forwarded it back to me, and alas, it still doesn't want to play ball...
I have just played it back on my PC and at that exact point, I hear a blip in the audio. Nokia PC Suite just blanks for a split second at the point, but winamp makes a "digital noise" if that's the right term!
QUIRKS:
When the radio is on and keypad locked, pressing the "red" button turns the radio off... With my old 6610i you had to unlock then hold red.
When the slider is open and the phone is locked, you HAVE to press Unlock then * to unlock it, I'm so used to pressing Unlock then OK (when the slider is closed)!
There is no way of getting the very top line of the display (signal/battery/[G]/Bluetooth/Selected Profile/Locked - to wrap to a second line - there's no point having text there if you can't read it!
Any suggestions?
Thanks,

Sister,
That could easilly be down to the physical size of the excel file (I often open HUGE files and my PC grinds to a halt) - In the majority of cases, Excel will carry on trying to open the file (a quick Ctrl+Alt+Del to bring up the Task Manager sould kill the unresponsive application) - unless it's Windows ME/98 or lower which aren't as stable as 2000 onwards.
As you say there's nothing in the wild as yet, that doesn't mean there's nothing in the pipeline!

  • IPhone keeps going into recovery mode while playing mp3's through Ford SYNC

    Hi There,
    I have a 2008 Ford Focus with the SYNC iPod connectivity. I have the latest SYNC software update installed in my car.
    Twice now while playing songs via the USB connection with SYNC, my phone has suddenly dropped into recovery mode when it finishes playing a playlist.
    Can anyone offer a solution ? It is really annoying having to restore my phone all the time

    Ooops sorry about that. It must've been 8.1.2 then? I honestly don't remember.. I wasn't paying attention when I updated since I regularly do it for my iPad, other phones. Anyway, whatever is the latest version of the iOS, it got me stuck in recovery mode.
    really sorry about the 8.2 Info

  • IOS 8.02 update cause iPad Air to auto reboot while playing games and always 'No Sim installed' appears

    I have updated my iPad 3 and iPad air to the latest update iOS 8.02 sinice a week ago. The iPad 3 is okay while the ipad air is having problems. Firstly it randomly auto reboots and apps auto shuts as well. Secondly the 'No Sim installed' always appears while using the iPad. Anyone having the same problem please advise how to solve these problems. Thanks.

    Using the battery level meter in this manner is comparable to using your car's fuel gauge to calculate miles per gallon. The only thing that matters is the total amount of operating time from full charge to auto-shutdown.
    Use the wall-mount charger that came with the iPad and charge overnight.  Do NOT use an iPod/iPhone charger.  Do NOT use a computer's USB port.  Then, operate it normally until auto shut-down (ignore any low level alerts that may appear).  An irony is that doing that test to determine the total operating time is also the procedure necessary to calibrate the battery level meter.
    I'm not claiming that you do not have a problem.  I am stating, however, that we don't yet know.  If the above test does, in fact, indicate a problem, read this.
    Also, according to Apple:
    Use Your iPad Regularly
    For proper reporting of the battery’s state of charge, be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).
    Elsewhere, Apple elaborates and explains that two half-discharges (or four quarter-discharges, etc.) equals one full discharge.

  • ITunes locks up and forces hard reboot while playing video

    I am running iTunes 8.2.1 on an iMac G5 running Leopard 10.5.7. About 80% of the time I watch video through iTunes, regardless of whether or not the video came from the iTunes store or elsewhere, the computer locks up after a few minutes of playback and I must do a hard reboot. The mouse still is responsive, but clicks are not registered and no keystrokes cause any response. When played through Quicktime or other video playback applications, these lockups do not happen.
    Has anybody else experienced this problem? What can I do about it?

    Ronald hello,
    Shut down and restart your computer with the Command key and the letter 's' depressed.
    At the prompt type or copy and paste (don't forget the space)
    /sbin/fsck -fy
    hit return key and wait for all clear to be displayed then type.
    reboot
    hit return key
    Check the pemissions are set correct on the Apple installed software...
    use 'Disk Utility' from Applications > Utilities > select HD... select 1st aid. repair permissions... if repairs are needed run again until none are repaired... do not worry about messages 'we are using special permissions etc... they are OK Quit when finished.
    Use BatChmod to set correct permissions on your home ~ Music folder
    This compact GUI will perform the same tasks as a 'terminal command line'
    drag the complete Music folder with libraries and iTunes Music folder inside to the BatChmod Icon and drop....
    check path is correct.... tick if not already.... Owner=R W X, Group=R, Others=R,
    then tick 'Apply ownership and privileges' tick 'Unlock" ... click Apply...
    provide password... all done very quick...
    come back and let me know how it all goes now ... TP

  • K9N SLI Platinum reboots while playing games

    Hello,
    System config
    Athlon 64 3800+ x2
    K9N SLI Platinum (Bios version 1.1)
    2 * 1024 ocz 6400 gold memory
    80 gig sata 1 drive
    nec dual layer burner
    Xfx 7600 gt xxx
    floppy
    PSU Coolmax AP-450 (CX-400)
    The system is stable when I browse email and such, but as soon as I play games I'm getting reboots. Blue screen of death a couple times. I bought a couple more fans for my case (waiting to see if it makes a difference when it arrives). It may be getting to hot. I have been reading and perhaps the PSU is not good enough or compatible. I haven't checked the memory yet, But i would think that it would reboot consistantly not just in games if that were a problem. Does anyone have a solution for me?
    Thanks,

    I had the same problems as you have.
    The fix I did was, downloaded the drivers for AMD dual core processors from the AMD website.
    Make sure you have your RAM set to 2.1V.
    It's nothing to do with the PSU.
    "It's nothing to do with the PSU."
    cant agree, there is alot of issues with the same symptoms. it may crap or overload PSU also.

  • Memory leaks while playing mp3 in air 1.5

    Hello,
    I am trying to develop an mp3 player using Adobe Air (html + javascript). When I repeatedly load files using Sound class, memory usage is constantly increasing. I have observed this on OS X 10.6. using Activity Monitor. Air runtime is 1.5.3.9120
    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Load the sample below with adl
    2. Click on play. Observer memory usage of adl in Activity monitor
    3. Click on stop. The memory doesn't get reclaimed.
    Keep repeating steps 2 and 3 and observe the memory in Activity monitor.
    Any ideas as to why this happens? What am I doing wrong?
    Regards,
    Sasa
    The example:
    <html>
      <head>
        <script type="text/javascript" src="AIRIntrospector.js"></script>
        <script type="text/javascript" src="AIRAliases.js"></script>
        <script type="text/javascript">
          function play(){
            var req = new air.URLRequest("file://test.mp3");
            snd = new air.Sound(req);
            //channel = snd.play();
          function stop(){
            //channel.stop();
            //channel = null;
            snd = null;
          function init(){
            document.getElementById('play').onclick = play;
            document.getElementById('stop').onclick = stop;
        </script>
      </head>
      <body onload="init();">
        <div id="play">play</div>
        <div id="stop">stop</div>
      </body>
    </html>

    Normally I would agree about letting the gc collect. However, in my case, memory usage increases to 300 MB after 8 hours of playing. It seems that GC didn't collect or I have some more leaks.I didn't have the time to investigate this some more.
    However, if gc doesn't collect for such a long time (possibly because there is more than enough free memory), I would prefer to invoke collection myself. If for no other reason, than because it doesn't look good for the end user to have perception that my app is using 300 MB when other applications are using only couple of MB up to 100 MB in the worst cases.

  • How to make the pic showed on ipod 5th while playing mp3

    can anyone teach me the way as captioned, very appreciate your help.

    Assuming you have artwork within iTunes, try this
    Open iTunes and select iPod in the iTunes Source list. Then click the Options button.
    Choose “Display album artwork on your iPod.”
    To see album artwork on your iPod:
    1 Play a song that has album artwork.
    2 From the Now Playing screen, press the Center button twice. If you don’t see artwork, either that song doesn’t have album artwork, or you need to set iTunes to allow iPod to display album artwork (see above).
    If you do not have art within iTunes, select the songs within iTunes library. Right click and then click on get info. This will give you an option to paste some art in. (You can copy art from Amazon)

  • [SOLVED] unable to play mp3 or flac files in mpd, .dts files play fine

    I had a perfect running mpd setup before I tried to fiddle around with some dependancies to get xbmc-svn to compile without errors. I installed some AUR packages (ffmpeg-svn, x264-git, libva-sds, libvpx, libid3tag).
    After that I started to experience trouble with mpd, it start fine and says it plays audio files just fine but whenever i play a mp3 or flac file the progress bar just looks like it's playing the file but I hear no sound. Whenever I play a .dts file i hear the sound correct.
    I'm very curious to why this happends.
    I rolled back the packages mentioned above but the issue remains unsolved.

  • Crash and restart while playing audio book with Media player

    Hi,
    I'm currently trying to play an audio book (approx. 4 1/2 hours length) ind m4b-format.
    This file plays well with iPod, SE K850i and iTunes on Mac.
    The file begins tp play properly on my Curve too.
    But when I try to go to some part of the book after around 3h or later (by using the scroll bar of the media application),
    I sometimes get a prompt telling me, that I'm using a invalid file format (though Media plays it from 0h on without problems).
    In addition, the Blackberry freezes, the LED on top lights red and the Blackberry restarts!! Wow!
    I can reproduce this with different audio books, all playing well on the other devices I use.
    The m4b files are creaated with Audio Book Builder and contain no DRM rights as they are not downloaded from iTunes Store or audible.
    I'm using a Blackberry Curve 8310 v4.2.2.176
    Micro Edition Media Version 1.1
     Allthough I think that my curve should crash while playing a simple audio book, I would even be gladif you could lead me to a third-party software which supports audio-books properly, so at least I can
    hear my Audio books while there is no patch for the curve available which solces the problem natively.
    Allthough I think that my curve should crash while playing a simple audio book.
    Thanks for any help in advance.

    You are talking about a specific audio file format : m4b. It stands for "MPEG4, Part 14", which is not currently supported by the Blackberry Curve. The list of supported file formats, including mp3 and "MPEG4, Part 2", is available here :
    Supported media files
    I don't know if there is a Blackberry application that can read that m4b format. You can, on your PC, convert the m4b file into a regular mp3 file, then transfert the mp3 file to your blackberry. There are many free tools to do that, I'll give you one : LameDrop. Its a small square, you drag'n'drop your files on it et voilà.

    Hi. I use Adobe Acrobat XI pro to make a PDF ebook embedded with audio. It works really well on my computer-I can read the book and hear the auto play mp3. The problem is, when I send it to my customers, they have difficulty hearing the audio. A few of them say they have Flash player on their PC and somehow they still can't hear, some say their Google Chrome browser tells them they've already got one flash player while they try to download one. For me, I had to download two versions of Flash player to be able to access to the audio. I don't know what the problem is, is it because it's the latest version of Adobe Acrobat XI pro that people with older version of Adobe reader or flash player can't open it properly? Or is it something else? How can I make sure every customer with different system can access to my books? Hope to hear from you ASAP! Thank you very much.

    And how are the customers accessing the PDFs?
    What devices are they using?
    What program or apps with versions are they using?
    I this age of other then PDF eBooks formats and reader program and apss for computers and mobile devices for these formats I would look at creating the books in one or more of the eBook formats.
    Google Chrome and FireFox both have their own version of a PDF reader plug-in and they are well known to be less capable than Adobe Reader. It is possible to configure these products to use Adobe Reader.

  • Safari no longer plays mp3 files (OS X 10.9.5 Safari 7.1). Help!

    I have a 6-month-old MacBook Pro (13" Classic) running OS X 10.9.5. I use Safari 99% of the time to browse the web (version 7.1). Quicktime Player 10.3.
    All of a sudden (this week), Safari has stopped playing mp3 files. I have always been able to click on a link to an mp3 file and it would play in the browser. Now, this has stopped working. It does open a black page with the audio scroll bar showing. However, the arrow will not respond if I click it and it just says "Loading..." forever.
    What's up?!

    Force quit Safari and relaunch it while holding down the shift key.
