6280 Screen

I recently took my 6280 out of my pocket and was horrified to find a crack across the bottom right hand corner of the screen. I hadn't knocked my pocket against anything, so I wonder if there is a weakness with this model's screen. Has anybody else had this problem?
Also, would this be an insurance or a warranty claim?

It runs out in a diagonal pattern from the corner of the screen. I guess it probably has been knocked whilst in my pocket - unfortuneately, there's a £50 excess on my insurance policy, but that's the route I've decided I'll have to take.
thats the only route available to you. if it were a faulty screen, the crack would run in paralell with the edge of the screen.
diagonally across a corner is one of the strongest points on any surface - so it has taken one big knock

Hi, Something strange is going on with my 6280, after an hour i leave the phone on the table the phones screen wont go black, it stays on standby with i slightly lighted display it won't go black, Power save and sleep mode are on but it still doesn't go black like the way it used to.
Please help and i think it's draining the battery aswell.

6280 screen gone weird

currently have 2 6280 phones, never realy had any problems with them until today, this morning one of the screens goes all screwy, like a tv with the horizontal hold out, then the dam thing just goes off, all the sound works it will make calls etc, turn off take battery out for an hour fire up and the screens upside down!, and still going screwy everynow and then!
the phone is 3 months old on 3, gonna get in toutch with them but not holding my breath.
phone says firmware is v03.70, 20/03/06

Get it in to a Nokia Service Centre (www.nokia.com/repair) and ask them to take a look at it, unless it's been tampered with, it should still be under warranty.
Have you tried using the force to fix it?

6280 screen saver problem

i have a 6280 since the past monday and today i realised that the screen saver isn`t working, although it`s enabled in the Display menu. i tried to restore the phone to the factory settings and the problem persists. you know, at all nokia phones, after a while, the screen turns black and it displays the clock and maybe the date. mine doesn`t do this either.
can please someone help me!?

you won't believe it . it was the network . when there is no network the screen saver doesn't work. try yourselfes to see if it's true .

6280 screen brightness

My 6280 works o/k except for this abnormal (I think) behaviour.
When a key is pressed or the slide is opened, from keylock, the sreen goes very bright for about one second and then the brightness lowers to the normal level.
Is there anything I can doabout this as I need to wait for the screen brightness to drop to normal brightness before I can read it?

screen brightness cant be adjusted in this phone try a factory reset to see if prob can be fixed the code is 12345 if it still persists send it to nokia care centre.

Nokia 6280 screen

I have just got a new nokia 6280...which I love by the way! Just got 1 problem, if you leave it for a few minutes the screen goes black. i.e it shows the data time etc in the white strip for a few mins then goes all black.
I want to be able to see the phone status...e.g if i have any messages without opening the phone...Does this make sense!!??

Go to Menu>Settings>Display>Sleep mode and select it off. This will keep the white strip showing.

HELP!!! my 6280 screen is just black

since i swapped the front half of my 6280 with another (smashed screen) my screen is just black and i have to press it down to get it working, HELP PLEASE!!!!

I've experienced this before. The keypad lights up but no screen right?
I'm pretty sure your LCD's contacts are loose/faulty. You should send it in for repairs..

6280 Screen Damage, but need help from 6280 users ...

The screen on my 6280 is damaged (I can only see about a 1cm strip running down the right hand side but the rest of the screen is black).
My replacement is coming tomorrow, so I need to copy all contacts from phone to SIM. Since I can't see very much, can somebody tell me step-by-step (I am doing this blind!!!). By the way, my menu is in the list format.

ok i will tell you step by step!
ok on the list menu go up 2 times then press select
then press select again to go on names
press options with the right button
go 1 up and press select (to mark all)
press the right button again to go to options
then press select to move marked
then press select again for the first option to move the contacts onto the sim.

Any idea what is the cause? Is it a new LCD required? It cannot dial or anything but I cannot tell as no image

6280 goes white screen when I sync with Vista

Hi all,
My 6280 goes white screen and reboot when I sync after a 350 items uploaded to my laptop under Vista Premium Family Edition. I've got this problem either connected through the cable or bluetooth.
I use the latest version of PC Suite, but I do not have upgraded my 6280.
If someone can help me, thanks by advance.
(and of course, it worked perfectly with my old desktop computer under XP ...).

I mean to sync with the syncronisation feature (inside the PC Suite menu) to an Outlook 2002, under Windows Vista.
Anyway, I solved my problem : I had a corrupted record in my phone's contacts (the phone was always rebooting on the same record number, when I tried to export data). I have deleted all the phone's contact records and then reloaded them from Outlook, and now everything works just fine.
Backup, backup, always backup ...
The question is : how could I have corrupt a record in my phone's contact ?

6280 Time and date reset screen goes blank

Whenever I turn my 6280 off at night when I switch it on the next morning the time goes back to 00:00 and the date doesnt change automatically. Called up 3 and they werent much help at all just said to switch auto update of date and time on which I did and it didnt make any difference!!!! Has anyone else had any probs like this?
Also my phone occasionally cuts out either when I am on the internet or just when I am using it. The screen goes blank and then after a couple of seconds it comes back again. Apparently there is a firmware upgrade for the phone and the version I have at the moment is 3.36 does anyone have any idea where I can get this from??

Lower screen resolution on 6280?

I'm noticing that a lot of applications and games are designed for a low resolution screen. My 6280 has high resolution, so that apps take up only the upper left hand corner of the screen. Too tiny to read, really. Is there a way lower my screen resolution? Or is it that these games have to be resolution-aware? Thanks for any advice.

You have no choice for this matter, I guess, and you must succumb playing your low-res games in this manner. As manta have said, there are programmers who are pretty adept at changing the resolution covered by the application depending on the screen's native resolution.

SCREEN SAVER/WALL PAPER ON 6280

EVERY TIME I SWITCH MY 6280 ON,I HAVE TO RESET MY SCREEN SAVER AND WALL PAPER . ALSO MY RING TONE AND SMS TONE GO BACK TO DEFAULT SET UP.IS THIS COMMON OR IS THERE A PROBLEM WITH MY 6280.

This is for the wallpaper one:
Menu > Settings > Display > Standby Mode Settings > Wallpaper > On
Restart your phone and see if you need to set wallpaper again.
For the Screensaver:
Menu > Display > Screen Saver > On
Does it work properly now?

Broken screen on Nokia 6280

Help - I broke the screen on my Nokia 6280 and want to connect by bluetooth to try to retrieve some information. Could someone please tell me what keystrokes I need to use to switch on bluetooth?

Middle button for menu, press up then right, then the middle button to select, go 6 down and press the middle button to select, then select again, then select again, then up then select.
Now bluetooth is turned on.

Nokia 6280 broken screen

Through 3 I purchased a new 6280. Within days it fell out of my pocket with the result of a broken screen (only a minor crack but screen display completely gone). Would appreciate any advise on how to get it fixed or how to source a new screen?

I said TRS are a main repair agent for 3, I never said if they are good or not. Having been in the trade for more than a few years most of the big repair hubs are a bit useless. TRS do sometimes give prefferential rates to help 3 customers stay on line.
CRC are not without their problems either. Seen the mobile press recently ? What a really shocking state of affairs, but then again I'm not shocked, I always knew they were bad, it's just taken ages and ages to make it public knowledge.
Then there's MPRC in Stoke, then again part of Caudwell, so enough said.
The only ones I would trust with my own Nokia if I had to are some of the smaller independants or perhaps Intec in North London.
