6288 - Photos download to different sizes using No...

When I downloaded around 70 photos to my PC recently the images were automatically saved at varying sizes. For example, using the slide show function some were full screen whilst others were 'stamp' sized and others half-screen??? Was it something to do with the way I took them or was it in the automatic downloading process (using Nokia PC Suite), or something else? Any help would be appreciated?

  • Photo books - many different sizes not possible?

    Hi. Does Elements 9 really offer only two sizes for photo books?
    I want to produce a photo book with multiple pages. But Elements 9 (German version) offers only two sizes:
    297 mm x 210 mm (A4)
    300 mm x 300 mm
    Above those two sizes i see the words “Print locally” (in German). These words “Print locally” cannot be changed. (I have an A4 printer installed.)
    I want to produce a PDF file in Elements and send it to an online printing service. These online printing services print photo books in many different sizes from PDF (i will not send it via Elements’ own system). Does Elements 9 really offer only two sizes for photo books?
    Am i seeing something wrong? I already changed the printer driver, checked preferences in Editor and Organizer, but found no way at all to get different sizes.
    Thanks for all hints!

    To merge the libraries manually use "File > Export".
    To save the high quality originals, set the export panel like this, with "Kind Original":
    If you have edited versions with added titles, caption, places, etc, use these export settings to save your work:

  • Does Small photo download affect site size?

    I have a trial .Mac account to hold pictures of my new home construction.
    http://web.mac.com/hawaiithad28
    It's close to full. I've already changed my iDisk settings to allow the maximum 70MB. I turned off picture downloading on all the pages, but it didn't seem to save any space. Does that make sense?
    I'm guessing that the Small size pictures are the same as the ones that are displayed on my various pages, so allowing the Small sized pix to be downloaded doesn't require any more space for the site.
    So turning off Downloading doesn't save anything, right?
    I assume changing the size of the Downloaded pix from small to medium would require a lot of additional space.
    Does anyone know the details on this?
    Thanks.

    So in this wonderful modern world of ours, Nokia City Lens will always be out of date. Great.
    What Nokia needs is to listen to local users and encourage them to respond and contribute. I could update my local municipality in a couple of days. Closures of restaurants, cafes and filling stations could be verified centrally (e.g. to prevent me trying to screw up a business I don't like or have a grudge against) and the correct info published in weeks rather than years!

  • Iphoto import imported my photos in different sizes

    I have transferred my iPhoto library from my old MacBokPro to my new one.
    Initially I used Migration Assistant which took 2 days but eventually worked.
    The problem is that when I click on a photo in the new library the photo is a very small version of the same photo from the old library?
    Not all of the photos are small so for example there could be 20 photos taken on the one day but 7 are much much smaller in the library on the new MBP
    They are both running iPhoto 9.5.1 and when I compare the info of the new photo on the new MBP to the old MBP the information is the same it's only the size of the photo in the library that is different.
    I'm concerned that the quality will be affected should I need to print down the track.
    I have spent days( not an exaggeration!! ) with Apple who have given me many different "remedies" none which have changed the size of the photos.
    The latest "remedy" was Airdropping the folder over again which re imported the photos exactly the same way as they did initially on Migration Assistant.
    Should I just stop wasting more phone time with support and just book a Genius appointment that way I can take both computers in and get it sorted out?

    which re imported the photos exactly the same way as they did initially on Migration Assistant.
    And therein lies the problem. You've imported one iPhoto Library into another. When you do that every version and thumbnail is imported like a distinct photo - hence the different sizes  -  you lose all your Albums, Keywords etc., the link between Original and Previews is destroyed, the non-destructive editing feature is ruined and so on. In summary: it's mess.
    To move an iPhoto Library to a new machine:
    Link the two Macs together: there are several ways to do this: Wireless Network,Firewire Target Disk Mode, Ethernet, or even just copy the Library to an external HD and then on to the new machine...
    But however you do choose to link the two machines...
    Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new Machine.
    Then launch iPhoto. That's it.
    This moves photos, events, albums, books, keywords, slideshows and everything else.
    I cannot stress enough: there is no importing involved. So, no drag and drop to the iPhoto icon, no drag and drop to the iPhoto window, no File -> Import
    Just: Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library'

  • How can I import a photo at the original size into a book page without iPhoto stretching it out?

    I have photos that are different sizes but cannot be cropped or stretched or the whole image can't be seen. Is there a way to import photos without ibook manipulating them?
    Also, How does one make a PDF of the book?
    Matthew

    Are you talking about iBooks Author? To make a PDF: File > Export or Share > Email PDF
    To constrain an image open metrics inspector and select constrain proportions.
    I just downloaded the programme and had a quick squiz of the Help menu.

  • Using elements photo-downloader

    I have just bought PSE 9 to g with Premiere elements 9, I had been only downloading video clips to my computer via elements photo-downloader, but now I'm putting on photos as well, the photos are now loading into the main file (I specified) on C that my video clip were going to - I guess it looks a bit of a mess, but is that normal, or is it possible to specify that photos download into a different file than the videos? If it is possible, how do I do this?
    Thanks.

    Open the Organizer and press Ctrl+G to bring up the downloader dialog.
    Click the Browse button and choose My Pictures or a folder of your choice (My Pictures is the best option as Adobe uses as the Watch folder by default).
    Then connect your camera or card reader.
    If you already have photos in folders Click File >>Get Photos >>From Files & Folders
    Browse to a folder and press Ctrl+A to select all images and click Get Media or Open.

  • Print Different Size Photo, one per page

    I am using PS5 in 64 bit mode.  I print on a Epson 3880 printer.  I shoot all photos in RAW.  I process all my RAW files in ACR accomplishing 80% of changes and the balance 20% in PS.  The output of my retouch is a Master Image (MI) File that I would like to print at different sizes.  I am starting to sell my images at Art Shops and Hops.  My customers would like to have different size images of my MI's  How do I print from the MI, different sizes images with a 150 - 300 ppi and maintain the integrity of the MI?
    I have tried the Image Tool but it will not let me print the image sizes that my customers want.  The Image Tool only allows me to change one dimension either (H) or (W) but not both.  Help.
    Jack

    If you want to print standard size images like 16x20, 8x10, 5x7, 4x6 etc these have different aspect ratios you will need to crop you image to the correct aspect ratio for the print you want or you could print different print sizes that have the same aspect ratio.  Like you camera most likely has a 3:2 aspect ratio if you use a DSLR. You could print all 3:2 aspect ratios image on you 3800. 3x2, 6x4, 9x6,12x8 15x10, 18x12, 21x14,  24x16... all that needs to be changed is the print DPI setting without resampling.    You have a 3800 that can print up to 17" wide.    You can print any size you want.  Some image cry out to be cropped.  They look best cropped for image composition is often best as some non standard aspect ratio.

  • Photo Download Size

    All photos were brought into the web page by using the iWeb "Media" button and navigating to the iPhoto library.
    Then, in iWeb, I go to *Inspector > Photos*
    Under "Photo Sharing," I set the Photo Download Size to "Original (Full Quality)."
    Then, I test my web page. The downloads are roughly 400K. As a sanity check, I go to iPhoto and export. As expected, the sizes are roughly 4 Meg.
    What am I doing wrong? What is it that I don't understand?

    Actually, the issue is even worse. As I indicated in the first post, I'm unable to allow full-sized downloads. Further, for those photo pages where I do not wish to allow any downloads at all, I'm unable to turn off the downloading capability! I discussed these issues with an Apple tech and he duplicated my results. He's now investigating to determine if there is any workaround.

  • IWeb 08 and Photo Download Size not sticking to Original (Full Quality)

    I am using iWeb 08 to post personal webpages and photo galleries but even when I select *"Original (Full Quality)"* under Photo Download Size in the inspector it slips off full size and make smaller pictures. I almost always want to offer full resolution image to my friends and family. Is there a way to make this work more reliably? Is it being fixed?

    I found in this iWeb test pertained more to the image pixel dimensions than the jpg compression level of the downloadable file as you found out.
    Happy New Year
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
    Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Will Aperture print different size photos on 1 sheet?

    In Aperture, is it possible to print multiple photos per sheet, with different sizes for each photo? Each photo may be unique, or I may want to use the same photo for each size. In the past I have used Qimage on the PC, and would like to know if Aperture can handle this as well.
    thanks

    I guess the light table, as a virtual table, is meant to be limitless in dimensions. I don't see a way to constrain its aspect ratio directly.
    But perhaps here's a workaround, certainly not ideal but perhaps at least useful: just make your viewer window the appropriate aspect ratio as the paper you want to print to. Eyeballing may work out fine, but to be more specific, you could start with a new version of an image and crop it to the exact aspect ratio you want. Then add only that one shot and make it large enough to fill the viewer window, adjusting the shape of the viewer window to fit that placed image closely. Now you can unplace that image and you're left with a blank light table, the viewable portion of which is the precise aspect ratio you need for your paper. So you can place your images to fit within that window -- if you end up going over one edge (that is, growing your table) you can simply right-click and "zoom to fit" which will fit all the images in your viewer window. The key is that the viewer window is the right proportion.
    I think an option to have the table constrainable in proportions is a good idea, but this might work in a pinch. Just an idea.

  • Exporting - photo dimensions different sizes

    I am new to Lightroom. When I export a group of photos some are around 3000x4000 and others are around 6000x8000.
    These larger sizes will not upload to my Picasa Web Albums.
    Why are they different sizes? Some are only taken on my iphone and are the larger size and others are on my SLR and are the small size.
    Thanks

    If you want to resize exported images you have to select any file format other than <Original> in the Import Dialog / File Setting / Image Format.
    For web-use you would select JPG. Color space for web use is sRGB.
    Selecting another format than <Original> will activate the <Image Sizing> and <Output Sharpening> sections of the Export Dialog.
    Select a size appropriate for the Picasa Album and select a Quality Setting - between 70 and 80 should be fine; and select output sharpening for screen.
    For sizes you can specify from several parameters. I find it most convenient to select 'Long Edge' or "Short Edge", specify the amount of pixels, and let the other edge fall according to the ratio of the image edges.

  • ICloud and desktop libraries different sizes / difficulties with full size downloads on iPad

    My Photos library shows up as 14,056 photos at 53 GB in iCloud whereas it shows up as 13,952 at 125GB on my iMac (1TB HDD).  I have checked "Use iCloud Photo library" on all my computers and devices's preferences and most of this data has been synched for several weeks.  So why the huge discrepancy in size?
    Also, since my iPad mini 3 has 128GB strorage I chose to allow it to download full size versions of my images to store locally ...which it never actually seems to do.  I always get the little white "loading" icon in the bottom right corner of any image I look at letting me know its downloading the full size from the cloud before I can see the full resolution.  Obviously I could not actually store 125 GB library on a 128 GB capacity iPad but since iCloud claims my library is only 53GB and I have 90 something gigs free on the iPad it should work.
    I guess I'm confused a to how big my library actually is and where the full sized images are actually being kept.  And ideas for how to solve this dilemma?

    Think you wanted your reply to be to pjonesCET1
    But, I will give an opinion on your post --
    You want to use Microsoft Office because of the robust nature of its elements.    Apples Iwork and prior to that Apple works - is at the level of Microsoft works - an stripped down piece of software that meets the need of many people.    Apple and Microsoft agreed to have a version of Microsoft office that could run on Apple devices.
    The of problems between versions of Maverick and Yosemite may have to to with apple releasing Yosemite before it was fully tested with Microsoft office - or the bug has been there awhile and Yosemite just brought it to the surface.
    In general - when new level of software comes out - its not a complete re-write.   Commented out code that was replaced with new code is removed, along with indicators for new code and history of what the problem is are removed - giving clean code.   If the language has new structure, the code may be passed through a converted that, depending on detail reformats code into new statement structure.
    Sometimes bugs are added because a certified programmer just can't read existing code even their own - or just ignore standards and use a new instruction that is incompatible with existing code.
    Microsoft does issue patches for existing software - so they may do that for your problem - but some problems can take a while to figure out just where they went wrong.

  • Photo Gallery thumbnails in business catalyst render in different sizes in different browsers

    Photo Gallery thumbnails in business catalyst render in different sizes in safari and chrome but are fine in firefox. What is the issue with Safari? I have tried the different algorithm options such as fill_proportional etc and firefox is the only browser that displays correctly. I thought safari was the most standards compatible browser - what's the problem here?

    Hi,
    If you have seperate XML file but with the same basic structure then you can change the XML a Spry dataset refers to and regenerate the spry region without reloading the full page.
    So on my photo gallery page I can change the album the photos are shown from via the seturl sprydata function as below.  dsPhotos being my Spry dataset that points to the relevant XML dataset with my image references and captions etc.  My XML is actually dynamically generated from Picasa RSS feeds (and RSS feeds are XML) but the principle will be the same with your static XML.
    First I add an event listener for when someone clicks on an album (the li tag within my div with the id "albums" holds a photo and title for each album.)
    function Albums()
    var myalbums = Spry.$$("#albums li", "TabbedPanels1")
    var rows = dsAlbums.getData();
    var setListener = function( element, value )
      Spry.Utils.addEventListener( element, "click", function(){ showAlbum( value ); },false );
    for( var i = 0, length = myalbums.length; i < length; i++ )
      setListener( myalbums[i], i );
    Then this is the code which changes the photo album to be shown. (when the user clicks the relevant album)
    function showAlbum(i)
    pauseShow();
    pImage = 'No';
    var rows = dsAlbums.getData();
    var albumid = rows[i]["albumid"];
    var url = "xml/PicasaAphotoFeed.asp?albumid=" + albumid;
    dsPhotos.setURL(url);
    dsPhotos.loadData();
    var rowcount = dsAlbums.getRowCount() - 1;
    var nextalbum;
    var navnext;
    var n;
    The page is here www.thehmc.co.uk/photo5.html is you want to see it in context.
    In your case showAlbum would switch between Frank.xml or Wolfie.xml depending on how you decide to name your xml datasets.
    Regards
    Phil

  • Adobe Bridge Photo Downloader Results without using Photo Downloader

    I always used the Photo Downloader to download files, rename them and organize them into folders named by date.
    I recently upgraded to a Network Attached Storage device that has a USB Port directly on the front of it and allows me to dump all my camera files straight onto the external hard drive. However, it does not rename them - so it uses the raw file names that the camera assigns them and doesn't organize them in any way.
    This is really handy for me as I don't have to copy 16gb of photos across a wireless network when I want to clear out a memory card. However, I haven't found a way to organize the files after the fact.
    Is there any way to have Adobe Bridge (or any other Mac software!) go through those files and move/rename them the same way that Photo Downloader always did directly from the camera? How?
    Thanks!

    If you are sure your files have the metadata, in other words you can place your memory card into a reader and the information is there,
    next step, is a total Bridge Preferences reset
    Start Adobe Bridge and immediately press Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS) until the Reset Settings dialog box appears. Select all three options--Reset Preferences, Reset Standard Workspaces, and Purge Entire Thumbnail Cache--and then click OK.
