6300 / 3110c Flight Mode and Screensaver / Powersa...

Hi,
I noticed something odd on my 6300 which I then also confiremed on my old 3110c:
If you are in Flight mode then the screensaver doesn't kick in and the power saver / sleep mode doesn't kick in. The screen goes dark, presumably the backlight get's switched off completely but the screensaver / powersaver doesn't kick in. In any other profile this works fine.

No, I'm afraid that isn't possible.
In order to send/receive SMS messages, the phone needs access to the network, which in turn is going to enable calls.
Also, given that your phone is a basic java-based phone and not a Symbian smartphone, it's unlikely that there's any 3rd party software to do this for you.

X11 in full screen mode and screensaver

I am having issues with the X11 utility running in full screen mode. When I return from the screensaver, the system returns to the mac desktop rather than X11 full screen mode, but the windows from the X11 session still appear on my screen but some appear completely white - I can't quit X11 because nothing appears above these white windows (including the confirmation window to exit X11) and I cannot move of these windows.
I have tried to use the Command-option-a keystroke with no success. Only after a significant period of time can I force quit from the Dock - but sometimes the white windows cover menus generated from the dock so I cannot access "Force Quit". I have been able to replicate this behaviour.
Is anyone aware of this issue and is there a remedy?

Does this happen if you activate screensaver then a minute later try to return from it, or only after waiting a while? Does your network connectivity change while screensaver is activated? Do you have the same problem if you switch to a different application before the screensaver activates?

NO CARRIER - Phone only works in 3G mode, and periodically loses signal

Hi.
Recently my iPhone 3GS has stopped working on the 2G network and has become somewhat unstable on the 3G.
After traveling i found my phone rendered semi-defect.
After a travel through 2 countries my phone stopped working on 2G network.
to be able to connect to a "roaming" provider the phone had to be in 3G mode.
the 2G mode is now not working at all.
Once in a while the 3G also sets out, and i have to put the phone in flight mode and back to be able to get a connection to the carrier. (this could be caused by a non 3G zone i guess).
I have done the following steps to try and resolve the issue.
1) do a general network reset (no resolve)
2) do a general phone reset (no resolve)
3) do a iTunes restore, where the phone was updated, and blanked (no resolve)
continue and restore the previous backup (no resolve)
phone is running OS 3.1.3
I have tried the SIM card in another phone, and the 2G works fine on the carrier side, so i dont find the SIM defective.
somehow i thing the phone has totally flipped the 2G settings, and i dont know how to resolve it.

The internet isn't the problem. The phone really only works when I am in Wi-Fi. The data is the issue. Yes I have tried all of these resets, lost all of info on the phone and I am very fed up. This has been going on ever since the wonderful roll out of ios7. When I 1st did the upgrade it deactivated the phone, I had to go to the store, luckily they were able to fix that. Ever since then though the phone is worthless. My question at this point is more related to this being a phone issue or a Verizon issue. I live in 80207 (denver) and work in 80202 (downtown Denver). I would really just like to know if this is a network issue here, or if Apple just ruiend a perfectly good phone to get me to "upgrade."
Is this a Verizon issue or Apple issue?

This is a strange problem and seems intermittent.
I place my phone in Flight Mode everynight and charge it on my night-stand. Most mornings I take it out of Flight Mode and the mails etc. from overnight start to arrive... As expected.
Sometimes; however, the phone is NOT actually in Flight mode, even though the airplane icon is displayed AND the Flight mode 'switch' is shown as active. This happened, again, last night and at 04:00 mails arrived and the phone was 'pinging' on the night-stand. I checked the phone and it was indicating Flight Mode (icon and 'switch').
I have searched and cannot find anyone reporting this.
Aside from the inconvenience it potentially leaves me breaching airline regulations if I belive the phone to be in Flight mode on an aeroplane and it actually isn't.
Any ideas?

Just to check, are you able to turn on/off Airplane Mode via Charms Bar / PC Settings as indicated by the guide below?

If Airplane Mode works when toggling it from other settings (except for the F7 key) then it's likely that the Energy Management driver is not synching correctly with the OS.
Things that you can try:
1. Follow this guide on how to create a System Restore point (for backup purposes) then uninstall the Lenovo Energy Management (reboot if necessary) and observe if you can now toggle Airplane Mode via the F7 key.
2. If same problem, consider installing the Lenovo Energy Management v1.0.0.24 and observe.

Problem with iPhone 3G 3.1.2 flight mode

Hello together,
since i updated to 3.1.2, i have a problem with the flight mode. I have a very old stereo in my bedroom (70s ghettoblaster with the iPod universal dock to listen to some music while falling asleep. Up to now, i just switched to the flight mode to avoid the GSM transmitter interference and for sure also avoid calls coming in over the night.
Up to 3.1.2, this always worked fine, except from the message that the dock is not designed for the iPhone appearing from time to time, no real issue, i got used to it. But since i updated to 3.1.2, i very often have the problem that i activate the flight mode and i still hear the very loud interference usual for GSM activity - really bad to fall asleep. So the iPhone doesn't reliably activate the flight mode, at least it doesn't shut down the GSM part. It's okay it this happens several seconds after activating flight mode, but the GSM transmissions appear several times within some minutes.
To really get rid of this, i need to reboot the iPhone.
This situation occurs every 2-3 days, even without the use of heavy applications inbetween.
Does someone else have this problem? GSM transmissions running even with the flight mode icon displayed in the upper status bar?

In case your phone needs service they will exchange the phone and not install a new battery. So be sure to have backup of all your data on the phone before you visit them.

Problem with Location Services in Flight Mode

Hi!
Several times before it happened, that the Location Services symbol appeared in the status bar during Flight Mode and only disappeared several minutes after leaving Flight Mode. Up til now this never posed a problem as I usually plug in my Z10 over night.
Yesterday before going to bed I had 30% left and thought, that this would be sufficient to survive the night and that i'll plug it in in the office. Alas, I was woken up at arround 6am by my phone turning itself off.
When I looked at the Device Manager i found something quiet startling: During the whole time Flight Mode was active (approx. 23:00 - 0600), Location Services where active as well, draining the remaining 30% of battery. (See pictures)
My Device is a Z10STL100-3, OS is 10.2.1.3175.
No App was running nor was an Active Frame open.
Does anyone have a clue, why this happened or what caused this? Anyone with similar experiences?
And more important: how can i fix this?

What can I do when my iPod was stolen while in flight mode?

so my hand bag with my mobile, my camera, some other things and my iPod touch 2G was stolen while it was in flight mode and stupid as I was, after restoring it and updating the iOs to 4.3.1 or so, I didn't install "find my iPhone" Is there any chance to find it via the registered serial number?
Does iTunes save/send the IP-number when attached to a new computer? And if not, why doesn't Apple provide this possibility? It would contribute to the "Find my iPhone" app.
Besides this I have set my iPod to only work with a 4-digit security code, but I've read on the web that it's quiet easy to remove the code and that then it's quiet easy to accsses all the data on the iPod
I'd be very thankful for any help given on this issue, as all my credit and debit cards were in that handbag, my id card, my drivers license, a (to me) very important lucky charm given to me by a person I love and miss so much (that's the biggest loss to me) and the iPod is the only trace I could find.

It does not. Only Apple knows as to why they chose not to implement such a feature.

It is easy to remove the passcode, but it requires the user to restore the device to factory settings in iTunes, which would in turn remove all data from the device. It's actually quite difficult to get at data stored on an iPod with the passcode enabled. You would need to be pretty knowledgeable with the device and how they work in order to obtain any of the data.
I'd be very thankful for any help given on this issue, as all my credit and debit cards were in that handbag, my id card, my drivers license, a (to me) very important lucky charm given to me by a person I love and miss so much (that's the biggest loss to me) and the iPod is the only trace I could find.
The only thing you can really do is change any and all passwords to accounts you may have used or set up on the device for security reasons. Other than that, I'm afraid you are out of luck.

How to turn off flight mode on my iphone 4s?

Go to your settings and make sure that you have turned off "airplane mode" and I'm not too sure what "restrictions" has to do with turrning off airplane mode because I cannot find a button on restrictions for airplane mode in "enable restrictions." If you are having problems making phone calls or turning on bluetooth or wifi, then check to see if you have turned off the services in your settings section under bluetooth and wifi and then go to go to settings to see if your cellular setting is on. Also make sure that you are not in "do not disturb" that may cause nothing to work.

N8 and Flight Mode?

My old Nokia 6300 had an option - Flight Mode, where the phone would disconnect the radio and other transmission possibilities that might interfere with the planes eletronic systems.
Some say it's a myth that such interference occurs - some don't. But just to be safe.
Is there such an option with the N8 or do you simply have to turn the phone off?

FN-F5 toggles both OSD and flight mode

On my X230 with Windows 8.1 pro, I installed the hotkey integration package in Windows 7 compatibility mode. The result is that FN-F5 seems to perform two competing actions simultaneously, or sometimes only a random one of the two - it sometimes launches the classic "TpFnF5.exe" OSD, which is what I want. Many times, it also toggles airplane mode and pops up the Metro wireless settings tab on the right side of the screen, which is NOT what I want. It would seem the keystroke is intercepted by two different apps?
I would like FN-F5 to behave the same way as on Windows 7 - show an osd menu and let me choose what I want to do. Any hints, anyone with similar problems?
The BIOS is from June if that matters.

I have a similar problem. I have T440s with WWAN module Sierra EM7345 and when I try to turn off WWAN module with button in F8 / FN+F5 utility the utility freezes and exits. I hava Windows 7 x64 Enterprise. I tried to reinstall the drivers for WWAN, the hotkey utility etc. and nothing helped. Does anyone know a solution for this problem. Tnx.

Wi-fi won't work in Flight mode

Hi everyone - was wondering if anyone here could help me. I'm planning on taking my iphone overseas without roaming and just using wifi for skype and messaging (ping, whatsapp etc.). However, when I put my phone in flight mode, even though it's connected to wifi, as evidenced by the symbol at the top of the screen, it fails to connect to any web page or receive my email and 'whatsapp' even goes on to say that I don;t have a valid internet connection.
I'm not sure what it could be...help would be much appreciated!

Just put in a SIM card you can buy in the destination country and put it in iPhone. Calls are then cheap.

My phone wont leave flight mode

For the past two months i've not been able to disable the flight mode of my phone (lumia 520). I'd not been able to put to on my mobile network no calls no texts etc.

Have you checked you are up to date with the latest firmware update and the latest system app updates from the Store. Also check that your microSIM card us cut correctly and that you have proper number activated.

Hello Everyone, Is there anyone else had same issue like mine? Two days ago, my LUMIA 625 turned into battery saver mode. So I charged it immediatelly. I charged my LUMIA in Flight Mode. After 100% charged, I pluged out the charger but forgot to turned off the filght mode. In stand by condition, I put my LUMIA on my desk and then go to sleep. When I wake up , I found my battery in 30%. Does the flight mode can drain the battery ( for about 10 hours ) ? Normally , my LUMIA can take up to 1 day for be 30% battery life from 100%. Some helps will be so helpful.

Flight mode will not drain your phone's battery. In fact, it should prolong the battery life of the phone as it deactivates the phone's connection such as Wi-Fi & cellular data. Try checking if there's an app running on the phone's background by going to Settings > Applications > Background task. You may disable some apps and monitor your phone if it will make any changes. For some battery tips, check this link: Battery: making it last.
