6300 - memory card issue

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could give me the idiots guide to putting new memory card into my nokia 6300 please. I have bought a SanDisk 2gb micro SD card but when I put it into the phone, go to gallery and the memory card icon it comes up with 'memory card not formatted' and then 'operation failed'. I can not find any option anywhere on the phone to format the card. When I click on options on the memory card icon it gives me all the options apart from the one to format the card. I still have my old card which works when I put it back in and has the option to format so I really am stuck for what I am doing wrong.
I hope someone is able to help this dumb blonde!!
Cheers x

try formatting the card with a memory card reader.and then use in 6300.
tongue is too confused on what to speak

  • Memory Card Issue with my BlackBerry Curve 9300

    Hello,
I have been using the memory card for more than a year. It's a SanDisk or a ScanDisk memory card. It's 8 GB. I didn't use the card that came with my BlackBerry Curve 9300 phone. I'm always trying to delete files or to copy files, most of them are music files from my laptop to the memory card via memory card reader.
Now I am encountering a message that I need to repair the memory card whenever I try to insert it to my phone again. And most of the time whenever the phone automatically repairs it, some files are corrupted or considered as a "lost chunk files".
How can I recover those files? And why did it happen or always happen in the first place?
According to this site, you need to reformat it: http://www.techtalkz.com/tips-n-tricks/1535-memory-card-corrupted-here-solution.html
So what I did is to copied everything to my laptop then reformatted it completely.
It kinda solved the issue but for how long will I won't be experiencing the "repair memory card" issue and the "lost chunk files" issue?
Do I need another program to reformat the memory card and not to use the one that comes with every windows computer?
Does using a memory card reader or using a memory card adapter (for the microSD card) corrupts the memory card?
I have been researching on how to completely recover the files but I'm a bit confused.
There are a lot of recovery programs out there.
Can you guys help me out here? Thanks.

I think you should try each and everyone of the solutions suggested in the link I provided, given that it covered both harware and software suggestions. And always reset the device by removing the battery whilst the device is powered-on. Leave the battery out for a minute or 2 after each step.
See if that resolves the problem.

  • Nokia C5-03 memory card issue

I have C5-03 for a couple of weeks only, but there's one annoying issue concerning the memory card (which came with the phone)
Sometimes (and it happens often and often) there's a message that pops up
"Can't remove memory card without selecting "remove memory card" first." In result the memory card is no longer acceptable.
At first I thought I haven't locked the touchscreen and I have accidentally pressed something. But this have happened last night, while my phone was on a shelf, and a few moments ago while it was lying on the desk next to me. I see the message after I unlock the phone. Restarting it helps, but it's not a solution.
    Any suggestions?

REMOVE THAT 2GB AND GO FOR 8GB OR 16GB .
use more memory FOR LONGER USAGE THEN THERE IS NO ERRORS AGAIN I AM ALSO HAVING C5 03 and using 8GB.......
IF ANY PROBLEM CAME AGAIN IN OUR MODEL PLEASE CONTACT ME KINDLY I WILL SURE YOU BEST SOLUTION  OK THANQQ...

  • Help! nokia 6300 memory card problem

i bought sd 2gb memory card and it won't let me download more than 500 mb onto it! the memory status shows that there is plenty left but if i try to download any more - or even move an image from phone to memory card - it tells me that operation failed! i did format the card and it didn't help
    help!

try to reinstall your current firmware (after backing up all your important data first) or see if there is an update for your 6300 via nokia software updater. but i think there is a problem with your memory card rather than your phone, as can happen with normal USB flash drives when copying files to them, they suddenly give up and start giving strange errors. so maybe try replacing your card with a better quality new one.
    hope this helps

  • Memory card issue- HP ENVY 15-j186na Notebook

    Product name: HP ENVY 15-J186na
    Product number: j2t71ea#abu
    Operating system: Windows 8.1
    Hi there!
I'd like to upgrade the memory, but I can't find the exact model, In the product page it says:
    Memory:
    8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3L SDRAM (1 x 8 GB)
    Memory slots:2 user-accessible
In the HP support software in my laptop it says:
    Memory slot 1: 8GB Samsung 1600MHz
Now HP recommends that we buy the same memory card from the same manufacture, and despite searching , this is the only one I've found that appears similar to the one I've got:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-original-204-pin-PC3L-12800-1600MHz/dp/B00I21G832
    It says: (Samsung original 8GB (1 x 8GB) 204-pin SODIMM, DDR3 PC3L-12800, 1600MHz ram memory module for laptops)
My question is, is it the same memory card that I have? Reason is that in the model page it says “ SDRAM” and in Amazon it says “ SODIMM” and I have no clue whether it'd fit or not.
If not, can you please help to find the exact memory card I have in Ebay, Amazon or any place that sells it in the UK.
Many thanks and excuse my illiteracy in this sort of thing !

Need to add this, I've ordered a new memory card. These are the specifications:
    Brand: Crucial
    Module Size: 8GB
    Warranty: Limited Lifetime
    Specs: DDR3 PC3-14900 • CL=13 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3-1866 • 1.35V • 1024Meg x 64 •
    Part number: CT5735670
Is it compatible with the memory card I already have?

  • URGENT: Memory card issue with the Sony Z7. SHOOTING TOMORROW. Any help MUCH appreciated?

Everything was going right with filming untill we filled up our 8g compact flash with footage.
We tried to download the footage to my laptop and delete the footage of the card. After doing this, however it still didn't allow us to film and said that the compact flash was full.
We then tried to reformat the card with both the laptop and the camera, but still said it was fill.
Any ideas why the camera/ memory stick is doing this?

  • 6300 memory card

I know that the book says that a 2GB card is the maximum that can be used in the 6300, but just wondered if, now that I have updated the software(firmware?) to the latest version, whether this has any impact on the size of card that can be installed? Anyone out there that can answer or tell me who to contact for an answer? Thanks

If the upper limit is 2GB, that means that the phone does not have an SDHC-compatible card reader in it, only straightforward SD. This also means that 2GB is the real limit and that it is dictated by hardware. 2GB is the largest non-HC size available.

  • Lightroom 4/5 does not recognize memory cards anymore

I signed up for the Creative Cloud $10 PS/LR deal earlier this week.  Previously I had LR 4 (and PSE).  I'm a longtime LR user.  The first time I used LR5 was today.  The problem I describe started happening in LR4 as soon as I downloaded CC, before LR5 was even installed, and is continuing to happen in LR5. I have (and have always had) the option checked for the import dialog box to pop up when a memory card is detected. That is no longer happening as of the CC download.  If I click on "import", it does show my memory card; the dialog box just does not automatically pop up.  When the memory card is highlighted on the top left of the import dialog box, it states that there are no photos.  This happens with all 5 of my memory cards, so I feel confident it is not a memory card issue.  If I go further down on the left side of the import dialog box, I can click on the drop down arrow for my memory card and it will bring up the folder that is on the card (where the photos actually are).  If I highlight this folder, the photos show up and I am able to import them.  At times, Lightroom sees photos on the card that are already imported but does not recognize them as duplicates, but not always.  I have searched for answers on this but have not found anything that pertains to my situation.  Can anyone tell me how to get my import dialog box to automatically open again when I insert a memory card?  Thank you.
ETA:  I am using a Mac running OSX 10.8.5.

The virtual keyword is classified as a "future reserved word". In the current AS3 language spec it does nothing, and can safely be removed.
    From the help:
"There are also several identifiers that are sometimes referred to as future reserved words. These identifiers are not reserved by ActionScript 3.0, though some of them may be treated as keywords by software that incorporates ActionScript 3.0. You might be able to use many of these identifiers in your code, but Adobe recommends that you do not use them because they may appear as keywords in a subsequent version of the language."

  • Why won't my Samsung intensity II not recognize a memory card?

I just purchased a Samsung Intensity II the other day. I purchased a memory card at the same time (16g, I think).
The card was put in the phone in the store by the sales clerk.
Once home, I 'formatted' the card. I hooked the phone up to my computer, and it the computer recognized the card, and thought it was dropping ringtones and pics onto it.
When I disconnect from the pc, and try to view and manage the files between the memory card and the phone, the phone insists no card is installed.
I've removed and reinstalled numerous times. The phone still won't recognize the card.
Here's what else is weird: when I INSTALL the card, it tells me the card has been removed. If I actually remove the card nothing happens.
I put the micro SD card into the adapter and plugged it directly into the computer sd-card slot. It reads it and I can add/remove files from it.

        Hi adagioinb,
This memory card issue is very strange! I understand that this a fairly new phone; however, I'd like to recommend doing a factory reset to clear any potential system errors. Please follow instructions at this link http://goo.gl/QSnVl to perform hard reset, and test. Keep us posted.

  • Nokia 5800 Restart Problem with the Memory Card

    hi,
i am facing a peculiar problem with my 5800.i hv firmware v21.
Whenever i restart the phone with the sd card inserted (it has around 35+apps/games loaded but 4.3GB of memory is free) ;the phone hangs up at the "nokia" screen & i hv to remove the battery.on ejecting the card & then restarting; the phone starts up fine.on inserting the card later after the restart; it is read without any problems by the phone & all the apps. work fine.i do not hv any apps loaded for start up.
i saw similar problems posted in some other topics for 5800;but could not get a clear idea whether this problem was occuring in other phones as well.Is it firmware related or due to large no. of apps on the phone?
    please help.

it is most likely the corrupt memory card issue, it happens quiet often. that is why back up is so essential to have especially of memories and such. for that i use share online and upload my pics right away to ovi or vox whichever.
the programs  you bought you should be just able to download once again and plug in the key you have gotten with your applicatioins. you should be able to recover all of your purchases. i am sorry for your pics for those can't be recovered
i always keep a separate email folder for all my application keys so i can find they easily as phones and memory does get corrupt. i can do it relatively quickly and have the info handy even on the go

  • Remote lock & Memory card corrupted issue

Remote lock & Memory card corrupted issue
    Hi Dear Friends,
You might have experienced the "Memory card corrupted issue."
Don't panic! The solution is here!
Your memory card is just 'locked', it isn't 'corrupted'!
For sure, this post would be of great help to you, if:
    • You have enabled the "Remote lock" feature of your Nokia device.
    • You have sent the remote lock message to your device and locked it remotely.
Finding the solution really took me a lot of time. I was inspired by various posts on the Discussion, and decided to find the official notes on the issue. So would like to thank those who shared their tips, and helped us solve this problem.
I'm using E66, (you might use something else), and would refer to E51's and E65's User guide so often.
Of course, I'm not going to explain the instructions, and recommend you to refer to your user guides when needed.
On the contrary, I'm going to explain what may not be mentioned in your user guides.
    Let’s Begin
    What Has Happened:
In short, you attempted to test the feature, your phone was locked, you keyed in the lock code, code was accepted, you used the phone for a while, switched it off, powered it on, you were prompted the Lock code, you keyed in the lock code, code was accepted, you attempted to view some stuff that was on your memory card, you didn't find it, you tried to run a program that was installed on your memory card, the program icon didn't open, you put the memory card in the card reader and connected it to PC, it was not detected, you went to Menu> Tools> Memory card> You saw "Memory card corrupted"!
Don't, don't select the Yes selection key if you got the caution message, "Memory Card corrupted, reformat it?" because your memory card isn't corrupted, it's simply being locked!
But you can't find the unlock memory card command in Menu> Tools> Memory card> Options.
    So? What to DO?
    1. (This step is optional) Disable the Remote lock feature.
(Refer to your user guides) and change Allow Remote Lock> to no.
Then, while the unit is on,
    2. Press the power key briefly, and select Remove memory card.
    3. Remove the memory card from the slot.
    4. Press OK if prompted.
    5. Reinsert the memory card in the slot.
    6. Reopen Menu> Tools> Memory card.
Is your memory card detected? If yes!
    7. Follow tips number 2 & 3 of What to Know section below.
Did you get "Password removed" message?
If no, be careful of the case of the first character.
If you had changed the Remote lock message many times, use the one that was practically sent to the device via text message.
. In case you had set a password on your memory card before, you may also attempt to unlock the locked memory using your own password, not the first eight characters of the remote lock message.
Step seven would make the memory card detectable to the connected card reader to the PC too.
    8. The memory card is detected temporarily, but it is locked and the "memory card corrupted" issue reappears every time you switch off/on the phone, unless you successfully complete step seven.
    What to Know?
    Official User guide Tips:
    1. Remote locking also locks your memory card. (E51 page100)
. Yes, the one mobile phone that sends your device the predefined remote locking message, receives the confirmation message in response, indicating, "Mobile telephone and memory card are locked". But it isn't written in E66's and E65's.
    2. To unlock the memory card, select Menu> Tools> Memory> Options> Remove password, and "enter the remote locking message as the password". (E51 page100)
. Yes, quite clear, but the quoted part ("enter the remote locking message as the password") isn't written on my E66's User guide, and there's a vague precaution on E65's, (refer to number 4).
    3. If the message is longer than 8 characters, the first 8 characters are used as the memory card password. (E51 page100)
. Yes, quite clear good E51, but I don't own you; I have E66 your little sister. I owe my memory card's survival to nice users on the Discussion.
    4. The maximum number of characters allowed is 8. Using more than 8 characters could prevent unlocking the memory card and require reformatting it. If reformatting the memory card is required, all information on the card will be lost. (E65 page28)
. Quite interesting, but it contradicts what good E51 says in number three¡!
. And it contradicts my own experience of the issue (and some other users' on the Discussion) too, since my E66's memory card accepted the 'first eight characters' of the 'ten-character long’ remote lock message that I had previously used to remote lock it.
. The first three tips are quite important and shouldn't have been excluded from E66's and E65's user guides. I don't have the time to download and review all the user guides that support this feature, but at least I read some user manuals and also got the impression (from the posts on the discussion) that there had been not enough information on E66's, E65's, E71's, N96's, and some others.
You may like to do a simple search on Google:
"The first 8 characters are used as the memory card password" site:nokia.com
Since the content of the user guides on the server seem not be searchable for any reason, you won't find any official support result except those of the good users on the Discussions. And the 'Nokia Site Search" brings no result too. (At least on the date of this post).
¡ Terribly sorry for those who have selected Yes to the Reformat caution message. It wasn't your fault. But there's an idiom that says, sleep on it! "Think about it for a while before coming up with a decision".
But now that you have tested the feature and know its solution, don't be afraid, and enable the Remote lock feature again! God forbid, but it may be needed one day!

Dear, I guess, / This article doesn't suit your case. / • You have not enabled the "Remote lock" feature of your Nokia device. / • You have not locked your device remotely. / Because you don't know where the remote lock is and haven't played with its settings. / You need to explain what has happened. / The only thing we get is that your memory card doesn't open. / 1. your phone model, e.g., 5130. / 2. What did you do recently that might have caused this issue? / 3. What methods did you try to unlock it? / Use some of the tips provided above. (except number 1). / Yours

  • Camera/memory card connection issue

I installed the packaged software that came with my Nikon D5000 camera and plugged the camera into the USB port using the included cable. My computer doesn't seem to recognize the camera at all. I tried a different cable and each of the 4 ports. The system profiler does not show any devices connected to the USB bus. So I inserted the memory card (ScanDisk 8GB) into the internal memory card reader on the side of my iMac. The card was not recognized by iPhoto, ImageCapture, or Nikon Transfer. The images on the card are all in JPEG/RAW formats.
Is this a software or hardware issue? Can I get the images onto my computer without purchasing an external card reader?

First, I do not have a Nikon (Canons only); however, there usually is no need to install the included software, which may or may not be compatible with SL.
My Canon also uses SDHC cards (and the format is .jpg, RAW or a video); I do not hook up my camera to preserve the batteries - instead, I do use a card reader (it actually came with the cards) and the card/reader icon immediately shows on my desktop.
So, do you have your Preferences set (in Finder) to show external disks on the desktop?
And, what are your settings in the CD & DVD Pane in System Preferences?
And, what are the settings in iPhoto Preferences?
You can set it up for a particular application to open as soon as a card is inserted - or not. I've chosen not to have anything open automatically; I prefer sorting the pics in Preview first and then deciding where/how they should be processed. Your camera is listed here as being supported:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3825
I would suggest first to check all the settings; if that does not work, trying an external card reader - they are rather inexpensive. Also, check to make sure that the software you installed is fully compatible with 10.6.6.

  • Nokia 6300: Lost memory card = Lost applications

    Hi
Does anyone know if I can download the Collection software that came on the included memory card of my new 6300?
I somehow lost the microSD card and no way I'm i retracing my steps to try and find it. Ive ordered a bigger memory card but wanted to download the applications that originally came with the phone.
I've tried a few routes Nokia/Orange but no one seems to know. I'm looking to anyone out there who may have an idea.
    Many thanks
    Barry

I had the same problem and contacted Nokia help email,
    Solution
    1. Install Nokia PC suite on your PC.
    2. Have original memory card with games etc on it in your phone.
    3. Connect your phone by cable to your PC and select Nokia mode on your phone and File manager in PC suite.
4.Select 'memory card' in the window that appears and select all folders on the card, transfer the folders to your 'desktop' on your PC.
    5. Place your new 1GB card into a usb card reader and transfer the folders from your desktop to the new card.
    6. Replace the new card for the old and all should be OK, you are supposed to be-able to transfer direct from the PC to your phone but the 'Games & Collection' folders won't move !.

  • Memory Card or Phone Issue????

    Hi guys,
I really need help so badly. I am using E71 and im having hardtime to transfer my files (photos, videos, and musics) from comp to my phone and vice versa. When i connecting my phone to comp using USB Cable the device will act as removable device in My Computer (WIN XP OS) when i open my Memory Card Driver all icons appear only as shorcuts, when i opened like for an instance "Images Folder" i was able to see my pics from that folder that taken from my phone. I tried to copy those photos over to my comp w/o removing them to its original device, that will work good. As soon as i disconnect my phone from comp and tried to navigate or open Gallery>Images, all pics will appears distorted and sometimes it will show a single pic taken with multiple or lots of copy with the same image.
Same with the musics, i transferred from comp to my phone memory card, it will transferred just fine but when i refresh the playlist/track it will appear "0 Copied". There was nothing that recover or recognize but when you connect again the phone to comp you can see the files that was been transferred but the problem is it seems not being recognize buy the phone. I had already reformat the card several times. Used internal phone memory only and took sample pics and transfer them it was look fine. I had tried as well to change memory Card but still doing the same thing. I even used memory card reader but same thing happened.
Another problem i currently experiencing is when taking pics/video using memory card, can take good pics but as soon as you go to the Gallery you will never see the pics/video that you took but when you connect the phone to comp files will show thats on memory card.....so weird!
I really cant figure out the problem and im very frustrated for what its acting. I am just thinking to totally RE-FORMAT my phone memory to start all over again. I wish someone can HELP me out with this issue im having...need an answer soon!! =(

Hi ajaydavidson..tnx for the ur info but unfurtunately i tried to use memory card reader already because i though it will will be easier for me to do that. Same thing happens, when i connect the card using card reader it card will appear as removable but icons inside appears only as Shortcuts Icons. I was able to open it and able to transfer filed from card to comp anf vice versa but the problem is as soon as i put the card back to my phone files wont ahow at all.. Images appear distorted and unable to refresh the my playlist. I am thinking maybe its a comp problem as well and need to be totally formatted. =(
Thanks for ur time to replay...^_^
