6300 Problems - is it the firmware ????

Now to some other details.
It was purchased as New From Carphone Warehouse,as an Unlocked Phone (ie Not tied to any Network). I am using an Orange SIM
According to most reviews - Phone is suppose to come with 3 games: Snake, A football game & A flash game (Soduko I Believe) - Mine did not have these games installed
According to Nokia Site - The highest avaliable Firmware for My Phone is V4.70 - My 7-digit Phone model code is 0521830 (so how is it I have v4.71 ???)
Now the problems/Queries
1) Why are the games missing/not installed ??? & where can I get them if they were supposed to be ??
I did find out that a 6300 is 'similar' to a 6233 & that you could download the games from that Phones support page (at one time) - which I found & tried but although the football game works - the Snake games fails with a fault. Is this because I have v4.71 Firmware ??
2) On setting up the left softkey 'GOTO' options - I deselect 'Voice Mailbox' and save the changes. I have discovered that when the 'Auto Keylock' comes on OR the screensaver kicks in - The 'Voice Mailbox' option reappears on the Left Softkey - Why ???
3) When using MobiMB to change my Operator Logo (to something I prefer) - if the phone is switched off or reboots itself (ie it 'crashes'), I 'lose' my operator logo despite the graphic is still on the phone (I get a Yellow Folder with a ? on it).
I know Mobimb is not supported by Nokia - but why does this happen ??
4) When setting up my 'Radio' stations manually - I did an Autoscan & had phone fill in the one it found - but when I tried to add a Manually setup station although phone said 'saved' etc - it wasn't.
In fact most manually setup stations seemed to have a trouble getting saved - I had to use an old copy of Oxygen Phone Manager to set them up
Are these problems due to the fact that my Phone should have V4.70 firmware yet it has V4.71 ?? (I haven't tried a Firmware check etc through PC Suite as I'm scared I may damage phone)
Did CarphoneWarehouse automatically installed the updated v4.71 firmware to their phones because of the 'Battery Life' & 'Memory card' problems I've read on the Forums ??
Is V4.71 only avaliable to Repair people & not to the General Public ??
If it IS avaliable to General Public (as it seems to be reading the forums) then Why does my phone 7-digit number say it's not
Despite these 'minor' problems - I do like the phone, just find it frustrating that these problems exist.

Thanks to Andy29b - he had sent me a copy of the Games/Applications that he had, since he mentioned to store them on the memory card made me think to look at the one that came with the phone & Yes there they were (I never looked at it since I brought a larger card at the same time) - all the games & application were on my memory card.
I never thought that they were there because I upgraded from a 6230 & that phone never allowed you to 'play games' from the card
Did you buy the phone as new, & is the memory card the one that came with it ?? - It has 'NOKIA' stamped on it & is 128Mb
As for the 'Inappropiate image' I'm guessing you referring to my Operator Logo. what size SHOULD the operator logo be for a 6300 ?? - All I did was make a graphic that showed up clearly on screen, but then - if it wasn't the right size - how is it I can I tell 'MobiMB' to use it as one & it shows up OK ?? - I only lose it if I turn the phone off

Menu > Settings >Disply > Standby font colour
Well it works for me - but all it seems to change is the colour of the Date displayed on screen - no other text is changed (eg Softkey text or operator logo)
As for storing game on Memory card or Phone memory - I do not know for sure.
Technically using a devices own memory is usually quicker to access than using a memory card memory, but in the case of phones dont' know
- I'll hazard a guess that if you store games on a memory card - when you open it, it gets transferred into Phone memory anyway, you play the game using phone memory,, then when you finish game - any info needed saving is then transferred back to the memory card.

N73 - Another Problem after upgrade the firmware t...

Except the slow contact search problem (solved by Unplug the battery), I still suffered from some application install problems.
1. Whenever I restart the phone, a message 'Installing' always poped up, and the phone not responding for around 2-3 minutes. And then an error message 'Unable to complete ....' prompted.
2. The K-Mobile Client application losted after upgrade, and I tried to reinstall it , but resulted error by 'File corrupted'

Usually that annoying installation process in the beginning can be removed by deleting that installation file in MMC>\Private\10202dce . Most of them does not have the real title of the application. To delete the right one, you need to go to the application manager first and look at the title of the application that cannot be installed nor removed. Ones you know the titles, plug in ur phone to ur computer and browse MMC>\Private\10202dce , some title of the applications from the application manager should be listed there. Delete whatever you find is listed "not installed" in application manager (app cannot be installed or removed), but first make sure to make a backup of it somehow just in case you make an error. After you delete the file/files restart ur phone. The annoying installation process should not appear anymore. Note that by just removing that file may not fully remove the files it created. For advice, if you install applications in ur phone make sure you have backup of them stored in ur computer so that if the installed applications in ur phone stops working properly all you need to do is to reinstall using the original/backup sis files.

Forcing iMac DV 400MHz (Early 2001) reflash the firmware

My firmware has somehow become corrupt. The machine still functions, but firmware related things such as the kernel panic image being corrupted and unreadable and some strange option-boot screen behaviors (including the Open Firmware screen coming up if booting from a linux operating system). Is there any way to force the firmware to bypass the version check and reflash anyway? Are there any other possible solutions to my problem? Thanks in advance.

If the firmware is actually corrupted you don't have many options. There is no way for a user to force a firmware update. The only solutions that I am aware of are (a) replace the motherboard or (b) take the iMac to an AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider) where they will probably replace the motherboard.

Hi, i have problem updating my 8GB iphone4(IOS 5.0) to IOS 6.1.3 .after i adress the update file downloaded in the directory, itunes says "the firmware is not compatible"

first i used the itunes method of updating, but it keeped showing error 9006. then i read somewhere on the internet that downloading the update solitary and placing it in this directory will solve the problem:
(on windows: user/AppData/Roaming/apple computer/itunes/iphone software update)
but after that when i open the itunes, instead of automatically detecting the update (to which i was promised on all the stuff i read about error 9006) it just doesnt do anything. and when i hold SHIFT and click RESTORE, it just says: "the iphone could not be restored because the firmware file is not compatible"

Just to confirm is your iPhone jailbroken?. Now in terms of error 9006 in the article http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694 it says this:
Errors related to third-party security software
Error 2, 4 (or -4), 6, 1000, 9006
Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
There may be third-party software that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting a TcpWindowSize entry into your registry. Your default packet size being set incorrectly can cause these errors. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet size modification for assistance or follow this article by Microsoft: How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
Verify that access to ports 80 and 443 are allowed on your network.

Problem updating Nokia N97 firmware over the arir ...

OK here goes,
I'm having some real problems updating the firmware on my white nokia N97
I recently bought it of the web as a 12 month contract onto t-mobile (not there website though) in th uk
After noticing some problems i googled and noticed a firmware update had been released on 1st july 2009
I tried to get the firmwae over the air (OTA) via typing in *#0000# and selecting check for updates. I get no updates available for nokia and t-mobile (unsure what the difference is?)
So i heard try using nokia software updater.
i downloaded latest version 1.6.13 and installed it on a windows vista 32-bit home premium laptop ok
i have also installed all of the stuff that came with the cd with the phone (ovistore etc )
when i plug the phone into the laptop i get four options (PC, media, usb and something else) first time it ran it installed the necessary drivers and so therefore when i now plug it it just connects as expected.
so the laptop is detecting the nokia n97 at this stage
when i then load nokia software updater click next i put the phone into general mode on full charge with a sim card in it and click next again to detect the phone is pc suite mode
after about 2 minutes it says it can detect the phone although i can go to my computer and traverse the folder view!
i can even set it off looking for the phone pluggin it in and the autoplay options of vista will kick in in the background detecting the phone (ie outisde scope of nokia software updater)
i have tried all different connections mode pc suite mode etc different profiles nothing. tried it onto different pcs with different windows version on it. tried reinstalling software updater
my software version is 10.0.012 and my product code is 0587240
interestingly when i goto the can i update on nokias website it says no i have the latest version when i supply this information. weird
im kinda in catch 22 because there is a bug with pc usb detection of the phone in version 10 but i cant update to version 11 because of this bug
its driving me nuts any help greatly appreciated

It will break your facebook as you have re-formatted the C: drive of you phone. Was you facebook installed to the E: drive by any chance?
Go to OVI Store and re-install it.
It may be work installing it from OVI Store then un-installing that one to clean off the mess you have been left with post formatt and then re-installing it fresh from OVI Store.
As I always say. Before doing a re-format always uninstall all apps/widgests before doing a hard reset or factory reset.
I also do a this and a factory reset before firmware updates to clean my phone. Should really do a hard reset/format as this would be cleaner still, but tehn I would have to do a lot more set-up afterwards.

This may indicate a hardware issue with your device. Follow Troubleshooting security software issues, and restore your device on a different known-good computer. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.

Problem updating the Firmware on a PCI-7334

About me: I am pretty new to the Labview/NI landscape so I may be missing something here! That said im very technically aware in general and believe I understand what is going on here.
Background: This NI PCI-7334 board has been taken from currently unused project stock so current physical condition of board is not really known (ie was not recently working) although it appears to be in good physical order.
Attempting to setup a new Labview 7 Express development environment on new PC hardware with a clean build of Windows XP Pro SP1 along with 1 x IMAQ PCI-1411 and 1 x IMAQ PCI-1408.
Attempting to update the PCI-7334 with the latest firmware in NI Motion 6.1.2. I select the option "Update All Firmware Sectors" f
rom the firmware tree by right mouse clicking. It starts off with the buttonless (ie No Cancel Button) file transfer progress dialog box. But after about 30 seconds I keep getting the error "Error configuring the board for download. Please ensure that the board is in a reset state and that no other application is communicating with it."
Existing Firmware versions are listed in NiMAX as:
68331 - 6.00.3012
DSP - 6.00.3008
FPGA1 - [BLANK*]
FPGA2 - [BLANK*]
*Listed in tree without a version
Unusually under the General listing I get "0" for the device serial number!
When I go into the "Status" area and choose the "Reset Device" option I eventually get these status lights (red):
Ready to Receive
Power Up Reset
Modal Error Message
0x80 Move Complete Status
I have tried removing all other cards from the PC to ensure there is not a compatability issue.
At this stage it would appear that it is a hardware problem so I was wondering what options I have available to g
et this card repaired. Is repair by NI economically viable or is a new puchase a better approach? IE are repairs done at a fixed price or based on materials and labour?
Please advise!

I agree with your diagnostics. It looks like something went wrong during the last firmware update. The only solution for this problem is to send the board for repair.
NI has fixed prices for repairs which are much cheaper than buying a new board. Please contact your local NI branch for details.

CR52-A4 - Problem updating the firmware

I've just bought a CD-RW (CR52-A4) and it seems not to be able to recognize some CD-RW (Nero InfoTool reports some CD-RW 10x as 4x and some CD-R 52x as 16x). My firmware is 1.10 and I'm using Live Update to upload 2.20. When I use Windows I get a popup error windows "Send Data to Device Error") and when I try the DOS boot disk with the same firmware I have a similar error (Write Buffer Error).
Does someone have the same problem? (and the solution ;-)
On Linux too, CD speeds are not correctly detected (BTW, are there Linux software to upgrade the firmware?).

Problem with the firmware update...

Now I have a new problem... I had the Xserve on my intranet so long that when I went to update it and plugged it into the Internet, there seems to be a firmware update. I started the update, and its supposed to come up with a status bar, but so far nothing. It's been 4 hours, and the screen is not getting a signal. I'm afraid that if I turn the system off and the system is actually upgrading the firmware that will mess up the system royally. I'm going to leave it for the next 24 hours, but if it's still sitting there chugging away with the blank screen, I'm going to have to turn it off.

For anyone who may end up with a similar issue and finds this. Your firmware update probably didn't work correctly, download the Apple Firmware Restoration CD. Make sure you find the correct version for your computer, like my version was 1.4.

Hey, i tried this, twicebut after iTunes downloaded the update, it still says "firmware file is corrupt" even after i have deleted the folder. Im on a windows operating system (my friends - GO MACS!!) and it wont work. Im trying to fix this for my friend, i was considering just formatting itto FAT32 with the explorer thingy. but that might make iTunes not recognize it. Any advice would be benificial!!

Any fix for MacPro Fan problem caused by the last firmware update?

My macPro's fans have been going balistic on restart from sleep mode ever since I loaded that last firmware update that was supposed to address the MacPro fan control.
Any word on a fix... Is this overspeed damaging my hardware?

It is a bug in the firmware update because my MacPro never acted this way before the update was loaded...
Many have reported the problem... and some have not experienced it... Go figure.
Logic says this is not a bug. A bug with the firmware update would be universally felt, no exceptions. Firmware doesn't change its format out of the blue when it chooses to. What it does say is there are some Mac Pros that for whatever reason are not getting sufficient cooling in their position on the desk/floor, or the climate they are being used in. Since Apple does not publish the temperature limits internally for its machine, the best thing is to report this problem to AppleCare, even if the hardware test comes out negative.

If the problem is sending to just one address and it has worked in the past, I don't know if this will work. I posted this to another thread yesterday for someone who had the same problem you are having and it worked for them. You can take a look. On the iphone i went Settings>Mail, contacts calanders>choose relevant account (if you have more than 1)> accountname>accountname> scroll down to 'Outgoing Mail server' and click on SMTP >click on your Primary Server >
My #Username and Password were showing 'Optional'. Filled them in with the correct details (email account login) and that fixed problem.

So what? The second-hand shop you bought it from didn't follow the right procedures. You also didn't follow the right procedures to make sure that iPhone was not in Activation Lock. It's like buying a car for cash but not getting the title signed over to you. It's not your car if you don' have the title. And that's not legally your iPhone if the previous owner's Apple ID is still registered to the device for Find My iPhone/Activation Lock.
Only a proof of purchase from the ORIGINAL retail store would do any good at all. Return the device to where you bought it and demand your money back. If they refuse, either get a lawyer and/or turn in the device to local police. If you're in possession of stolen property, then the cops won't care about where you got it from.
