I have a 6303i Classic handset and installed the Nokia software and drivers all OK I can sync the mobile contacts, calander, etc with my laptop but I see there is an options to sync with Outlook which I have tried but it says the phone is not supported.. now is this a case or is there a problem with the sotfware/drivers or phone settings. Also have a problem sync'in with the laptop bluetooth. Laptop can connect to other devices and it's on XP Pro

This is not a common issue with the phone model in general.
Common causes of purer than expected battery life can include poor signal reception (if your operator has a poorer than average signal in your area, the phone will be hunting for a signal more often which uses more battery power), or and also Bluetooth being left on all the time.
If you want a refund, then your recourse is with the retailer who sold it; but you would be better advised take the phone to a Nokia service point, they would look at the phone under warranty. They will fix the phone, if fixing isn't possible they replace it.

Poor JPEG Quality in 6303i Classic

Is there any way to change the JPEG quality ratio in 6303i Classic. The 3.2 MP camera's excellent details are totally lost due to lossy JPEG compression (the phone, by default, saves with 60% quality ratio)
Or is there any other way to retain the quality of photos?

Also check whether the quality is good when viewing it in actual percentage, are you changing the dimensions of image after loaded?

Nokia Messaging 6303i classic - no e-mail alerts

Hi all,
I have a problem with Nokia Messaging on my new phone - Nokia 6303i classic. The problem is that I can't enable the e-mail alert option - when I tick the "Alert me for new e-mail" option, it says "E-mail alerts not available. Alerts option ot available". My e-mail account is in Gmail. My service provider (VIVACOM, Bulgaria) says that they support Nokia Messaging and that it's up to some settings (which they apparently can't figure out!). I have all the necessary settings to access the internet and the phone browser works great; Nokia Messaging also works - connects to my Gmail account, receives messages, the only problem is with new e-mail alerts.
I know 6303i doesn't support multitasking - could the problem be related to this (e-mail client unable to run in the background)?
I used a Nokia 2330 before and it had a native e-mail client with far more capabilities - no problem with e-mail alerts, could edit (copy/paste) received e-mail body text (a very useful function which lacks in Nokia Messaging!) - can I get that on my 6303i instead of Nokia Messaging?
Phone firmware version: V10.80/21-01-11/RM-638
Nokia Messaging version: 1.3.49

I recieved an update from Nokia support center. For everyone wondering, here's the deal, as far as I get it 6303i comes with embedded Nokia messaging application instead of the usual s40 native e-mail client; that's why there's no e-mail alert tone option in the profiles' settings. However, when you try to enable e-mail alerts from inside the Nokia Messagign application, you get an error message stating that this option is unavailable. What I could make out is that, as s40 doesn't support multitasking, Nokia Messaging can't be left running in the background and therefore can't alert you on new e-mails. As I see it, it's a design failure.
Nokia, if you couldn't make Nokia Messaging e-mail alerts work in s40, why didn't you just leave the good old native e-mail client, for crying out loud???!!!

6303i Classic - no option to change Right Selectio...

Just been upgraded to a 6303i Classic. I want to remove Web (which I won't use) from the Right Selection key and put Names there like it was on my old 6230.
The manual says I can change the Right Selection key in Settings, My Shortcuts. I see options to change the Left Selection key and the Navigation key, but there is no option to change the Right Selection key.
The software is on version 6.84. I attempted the update to 7.10 using the phone's own updater, but it came back saying no update was available.
Grateful for any thoughts from the world out there .....

I too have the same problem with no Right Selection Key. When I contacted Vodafone, they said that it was Nokia responsible for setting it that way.
Who do I contact now? Is it possible for someone/company to change it?
This is the first time I have had a Nokia phone, unfortunately I'm not impressed with it so far

I bought new nokia 6303i classic mobile phone. Currently my software version is V06.61 . But when i browse internet that current updat reaches V 7. How can i update ? When i try to update , it shows that you have installed latest software. No updates avaliable. Help me

Radio reception problem on 6303i classic

The radio reception on my new 6303i classic is crystal clear most of the time on most radio stations. However the receptions is intermitantly interupted on only a couple of stations. This interuption is only for a brief moment every thirty seconds or so, but is quite annoying. It is unusal as it only apper to affect a couple of radio frequencies I can receive.
I've check I've tuned the phone to the correct frequency and also checked (by using my old nokia phone) that there is nothing wrong with the particular station and also to eliminate the possibility that the issue is due to my location.
I sent the phone to be tested but it has come back all clear - is it possible that that there could be a fault with the phone which only affects particular frequencies and that when the phone was tested, it was tested on a non affected frequency and that is the reason it showed up not faulty?

I’m having the same problem with my 2730 Classic. The radio cuts out for 4 seconds at a time on some frequencies, and 1 second at a time on another. This can happen up to 4 times every minute, and happens at irregular intervals. I upgraded the firmware to the latest version, but it made no difference.
I’ve seen several threads describing the same problem on various phones, but although there are suggestions for possible fixes, none is familiar with the problem so there are no answers.
I thought that perhaps bumping this thread might bring it to the attention of someone who knows the problem and has a solution.

Can't update 6303i classic

Ok, then everything AGAIN.
I tried to update my 6303i classic from V 09.83 to the newest update that is available, but 3x without success. My ovi suite is up-to-date. The error code is: 12017
What shall i do now?

i got the update through nokia software updater, and many of the bugs that i kept complaining about are gone,
use nokia software updater for the update, it's easy and it's clean,
there are always problems while downloading through ovi suite,
nokia software updater is available on nokia website, it's a one time download and you can use it to update the device software if it's available for your device

Manul Setup of SyncML on 6303i classic

How do I manual setup syncml for calendar and contacts on my 6303i. If I go to Data Transfer, server sync it says No settings found Contact your service provider. If I try to edit server synhronisation it tells me to contact service provider for synchonisation settings. I have the settings I just want to be able to enter them.

Since purchase and use of my Nokia6303i Classic Gold on 03 Sep,2010, I have been receiving SMSs showing erratic time of receiving. At times showing five hours behind time from the actual time of receiving the text SMS. I have checked with trial SMS being sent from another mobile number, from the same room, the SMS is being received in my mobile phone instantly, but the time is shown on the SMS receipt page by at least two to three hours behind.
Please help me with some suggestions to rectify the problem.

6303i Classic modem doesn't work - why?

In the 6303i user manual: "You can use your device as a modem by connecting it to a compatible PC. For details, see the Nokia Ovi Suite documentation"
Based on this I just bought a 6303i and wasted a morning trying to get the modem to work. I can connect to it using Hyperterminal, interrogate it, find out what network it's connected to (AT+COPS), what the call quality is (AT+CSQ), but as soon as I type ATD [phone no] it returns ERROR.
Why does AT+CSQ, +COPS etc work but ATD doesn't?

nowadays, nokia phones which comes with computer compatibles(connectivity) and gprs enable, also can be used as a modem.
I hope you are not typing your phone no. in atd command. it should be somewhat like *99#(contact your sp).
to use your phone as a modem, no need to go such detail(but if for some reason you need).
and there are lots of thread/topic on this forum

6303i classic not connectes via USB

My new 6303i will not connect to the PC via USB. Is there a special driver for my WIN7 installation? OVI Suite is installed.
What else can I do?

You are correct, charging is using the charging port and also using a USB cable. It is strange that the accesories page for the 6720 only lists chargers that plug ionto the charging port. See link below.

Maybe someone with a 6720 can confirm this.
I just checked the phone spec here and it only says "2mm charger connector". It normally says "usb charging" if usb charging is possible.

6303i Classic : Adjust screen brightness

I have a nokia 6303i and am over the moon with it except for the screen brightness. I've replaced it with my old 6300 and the difference in screen brightness is very significant. Not a vibrant display at all. Is there any way of setting the brightness on the 6303i. Its so dim that I am reconsidering the purchase.

Is there a way to disable light sensor or atleast to increase some brightness. because my phones display is very dim. when i flash a light on light sensor, then the display brightness is normal. i think the ambient light sensor is making my phone brightness very dim for almost all the environments.

Software update for nokia 6303i classic

in this phone all the software are of old version due to which many features are not there in this currently it is using ver 7.10 and it is older version
so we want some new software update for it more than ver 8.0

Which "many features" are you talking about?
What exactly is missing in 7.1 that's been added in 8.0?
