6303i screen resolutiuon

Does anyone know how to change the screen resolution on a Nokia 6303i?  The clock, signal indicator and battery indicator on my mobile are rather large compared to the previous 6303i I had.  This is not in relation to the changing of font sizes for web, messages, contacts etc, thi sis the front screen resolution and font size only,
Thanks in advance.

I would also like a solution to this problem.  I used to have the older 6303 and much preferred the smaller clock in the right hand corner.
Also, the old 6303 used to display the contact name and time of anyone who sent me a text on screen before opening it and now on the 6303i it doesn't.  I find it useful at work when busy so I can decide whether to ignore it or reply to it without the fuss of opening it up first!  Seems like a step backwards if that feature has been taken away.

  • External toolbar....really!??

Hey thanks Adobe that you want us to pay for an app on an external device to have a feature that should've been in Photoshop long ago. Customizing the toolbar has been requested multiple times by myself and others and infinitely overlooked by Adobe. Why you would think a sensible solution is to require tapping on an external device is beyond reason.
Are you in touch at all with the screen resolutiuons that are standard now that allow for and almost require a scalable and customizable toolbar? I can have an endless number of workspaces, customize the hell out of the menus and keyboard shorcuts but not the most utilized part of the interface. ABSURD! You go to so much effort to implement or update obscure features and continually overlook an instrumental piece in the daily workflow of PS.
It doesn't take much imagination to see the overwhelming benefits this feature would offer. Try focusing more on how your customers are using the product and not how many things are in it to use. Expecting people to integrate an external device and take their focus away from the screen where they are designing is unthinkable. That's akin to using a Cintiq to only switch layers!!
Come on guys...other apps like PSP and Corel Paint have had this ability for years. Yes I understand there are keyboard shortcuts and quick keys on Wacom tablets but reality is most users do quick interchanges between keyboard and clicking the tools depending on the task at hand. Having toolbars we can customize to our workflow just like the workspace is a natural element to efficient use of Photoshop and other Adobe apps.

  • 6303i Classic : Adjust screen brightness

I have a nokia 6303i and am over the moon with it except for the screen brightness. I've replaced it with my old 6300 and the difference in screen brightness is very significant. Not a vibrant display at all. Is there any way of setting the brightness on the 6303i. Its so dim  that I am reconsidering the purchase.

Is  there a way to disable light sensor or atleast to increase some brightness. because my phones display is very dim. when i flash a light on light sensor, then the display brightness is normal. i think the ambient light sensor is making my phone brightness very dim for almost all the environments.

  • Could not connect Nokia 6303i via USB cable to Win...

    Hello guys in this forum
    Hello driver development group
This is not a question for help, but more a question for sharing experiences. I recently bought a new Nokia 6303i, worked a little bit with it and finally I wanted to connect it to the PC to enter the contacts from my old phone with the computer keyboard instead of the phonebook keys.
Well, the installation sounded quite easy at a first glance: Download the Nokia OVI suite, connect the Nokia phone to the PC and go on. I did that way, but it just did not work.
The PC I'm using is an Acer laptop, Windows 7 64 Bit system, MS Office 2003, Visual Studio 2003/2005, Firefox, Thunderbird and VMWare Workstation, Comodo Firewall and free-av virus scanner installed. Nothing special, nothing I could not handle, especially no games or other special hardware drivers that could interfere -- most software is installed in virtual machines, so the main computer is rather "naked". I connected the phone to the PC in the "Mass storage mode" to get a drive letter, and installed the OVI suite from the SD card. Worked quite well, and finally I re-connected the phone to the Windows PC.
The phone was detected as "NOKIA" in the Windows explorer. I chose "PC Suite" on the phone and started the OVI suite - but nothing. OVI suite told me: "Detected device: NOKIA. Phone is not in PC Suite mode". Eeeh?!?
I tried it several times, but no chance. Although "PC Suite" was active on the phone, the phone was not recognized. Ok, I though, either a problem with the drivers or a hardware problem. So let's see what an older operating system would tell me. I switched on a Windows XP 32 Bit system in my VMWare virtualisation software and connected the phone. The phone connected but did not directly work. I had to use the "mass storage mode" setting to get a drive letter. I installed the OVI suite that was shipped on the SD card (which deleted itself from the SD card later -- baaad habit, I was hopelessly searching for it later on, but ok...). Then I disconnected the phone, reconnected, chose "PC suite mode" and... perfect, stable connection, OVI suite was working totally fine! So I disconnected the phone and closed the VMware machine again.
Ok, so a problem with Windows 7 64 bit. I deinstalled the OVI suite, downloaded the most recent version from the web which obviously was said to support Windows 7 64 bit, installed, reconnected the phone... nothing. Same situation as before.
I deinstalled OVI suite again and downloaded/installed the most recent version of PC suite -- which was said to contain all connectivity drivers including for Windows 7 64 bit. I connected the phone started PC suite and... well, phone detected, but used in "compatibility mode", although the "PC suite mode" was chosen on the phone. But ok, let's see what I can do in the compatibility mode. Full of hope I clicked on the "address book" in PC suite. The phone reacted, it said "PC suite mode activated". Hoping... Hoping... then it said again "PC suite mode activated". Eeh? It is already activated!?! 10 Seconds later: PC tolds me: "Phone could not be switched to PC suite mode. Shhhhh*t!
I googled as hell, and then I saw that I should use the PC suite cleaner before installing. Ok, PC suite deinstalled, PC suite cleaner used, PC suite reinstalled, phone connected... nothing, same behaviour.
Next tip I read: Install the connectivity driver manually. Ok, everything deinstalled (and I mean, everything! All components in the program list that were entitled to be from NOKIA: PC suite, the two drivers and something else I cannot remember). I downloaded the connectivity driver, connected the phone, phone was recognized as "NOKIA" like before. I installed PC suite again and... nothing. Same behaviour. Arrr*h!
The final tip that really helped: I read somewhere in the web that Windows 7 was using the wrong drivers. I took a look in the control panel, looked up the NOKIA phone in the device manager, took a look to the drivers, and indeed. The driver that Windows 7 was using was somehow from 2008!?! So that was an internal driver of Windows 7 and not the newly installed Windows 7 driver which I manually installed!
I clicked on the button "Update drivers" for the "NOKIA" phone and manually chose the connectivity drivers in the "C:\Program Files\NOKIA\Connectivity..." or-something-like-that folder. Suddenly the phone was re-recognized: "NOKIA phone USB parent". That was new!
But now, the PC suite on the PC did not recognize the phone at all andmore. Hmmm, a new look to the device manager revealed the reason: A couple of new devices were detected, but all with an exclamation mark. Drivers not found. But with a little bit of luck... I opened every such device in the device manager and told Windows to update the drivers. It asked me for a path where the drivers were saved, and here I just specified the path of the nokia connectivity drivers again (this "C:\Program Files\NOKIA\Connectivity..." or-something-like-that folder). That worked! Now I got one after the other the COM-port driver, OBEX and etc...
At the end I startet PC suite... whahoooo, it works! Phone connected and address book editable! Uff. Nice.
    So a deep driver problem.
Then I did a near-mistake: I wanted to update the operating system on my NOKIA phone. I installed the phone update manager in Windows 7, left the PC suite, started the update manager and it immediately recognized the phone. I started it and in told me: "Do not touch the phone or anything", time 15 Minutes. I waited and waited and saw the phone screen disappearing, but ok. I saw the USB drivers being disconnected and trying to be reinstalled, but Windows did not recognize it. But I did not touch anything. Then, the Hiobs-message from the update manager: "Phone disconnected during update. Please swich on and reconnect". Whaaaaa?!?!?
Ok, disconnected the phone, switched off, switched on, reconnected. But Windows 7 did not recognize it correctly anymore. Some unknown devices in the device manager, only the "NOKIA phone USB parent" was still working correctly, and there was now an unknown device which I was not able to activate by specifying drivers manually (it was most likely a USB flash device what I figured out later). And the phone behaved strangely, sometimes crashing when hoovering through the menues... EEEhhh.....
Ok, emergency plan, phone nearly destroyed. I again turned on my VMware and connected the phone to the OVI software in the virtual Windows XP. Still worked fine. I clicked on the update menu item of OVI suite. OVI suite was detecting the phone software, downloaded the new version and started to update. Again it told me: Wait 15 minutes, do not touch anything. And I did. I saw Windows reconfiguring its hardware settings as new hardware was detected, and there were problems in installing a "USB flash device", but the software did not cancel. And finally: Update successful! Uff... I checked the phone (*#0000#), and it was ok. Uuuuh.
Then I switched off the virtual machine, conected the phone again to Windows 7, but there was still a driver problem. Most devices had an exclamation mark. I manually deinstalled all the NOKIA drivers in the device manager and actuivated the "Delete driver from system" checkbox whereever possible -- including the "NOKIA phone USB parent". I removed the phone from the USB cable and plugged it on again. Now windows re-recognized it as "NOKIA" phone, but again used its own internal -- wrong -- driver set. I switched the driver again as described above to the Nokia Connectivity drivers in the program folder, got again the "USB parent" and the unknown devices, manually specified the drivers for the unknown devices by using the path to the Connectivity drivers and finally I got the situation from before the update: Nokia PC suite running fine, I can access my contacts and do anything I like in Windows 7 64 bit.
That was a nightmare and took me about two days intensive research and testing. What a mess...
I hope I could help anyone of you with this when you have trouble installing the PC/OVI suite in Windows 7. And don't try to update the phone in Windows 7, it's dangerous at the moment!
Probably you guys from the driver development can take a more close look to Windows 7 64 bit and its own pre-installed drivers. Does anyone of you have similar experiences?
    Best regards,
      Mighty Knife

Uhm, I'm experiencing the same problem with some Linux relase. Unfortunately I was unable to solve the problem if not installing a windows emulator. Maybe you're already familiar with it, but it seems the only solution. Through google I found this, I hope I made you a favor.

  • 6303i Clock issue

I recently bought this 6303i classic mobile and found the digital clock in the Home screen is shown in bigger fonts in the middle aligned left. I tried to change some font settings and clock mode settings only to find its helpless.I can change de color of that font used for clock but not fonts.
I can either make the digital clock on or off in the home screen. I enquired in one of the Nokia Care centre, and they could not give me any solutions.
Is there anybody here to gimme a solution for this.

You will most likely not get an answer from Nokia here as this is a user to user forum.

  • Nokia 6303i, calendar, date with a note highlight

    Hello,
I just got a nokia 6303i as a work phone, and was wondering is there any way to get dates with notes or meetings highlighted in month view? In my current settings the dates get only bold marking wich makes very little difference. I need to see in a glance if I have something scheduled for a particular day, not by trying to determine if it is in bold or not.
Tryed out a couple of themes, none of them had it.
Tryed carbide.ui s40, but could not find an option to highlight dates with notes.
P.S. ataching an S60 calendar screen shot, wich has a red triangle in the corner for dates with notes or smth... So i need that in an S40, how hard can i be?

RKu2, this is not possible with the Nokia Suite. Although, it is a hot topic since the introduction of Symbian^3. Actually, this is a very hot one. However to summarize, there are alternatives for syncing the several calendars in your Outlook:
Mail For Exchange plus PC Suite
OMA DS (SyncML) plus PC Suite
OutlookAll2One creates one calendar in your Nokia
Winfonie mobile not sold anymore, creates one calendar in your Nokia
Mobile Master €30, creates one calendar in your Nokia
    CompanionLink Professional US$129
Please, test yourself because I could not test all of these alternatives myself. Furthermore, do not forget to feedback us your results.

  • Nokia 6303i freezes after startup

    I have a Nokia 6303i.
I was deleting my messages (more than 800) , and somewhere on the middle of the proccess it froze.
I removed the battery and tried to turn it on again (with and without SIM), it just shows the home screen, works for 5 seconds (sometimes not) and it freezes.
What do I need to do.
Any way to hard reset or ...
    I forgot to say
when it turns on this message appears
    "Supportive file. Nothing to display."
I tried to reset it using *#7780#, but it freezes while reseting.
    Thanks in advance

Remove the memory card if there is one then remove the battery for a minute or two and try restart again,if this fails i would take it to a nokia care point.
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

  • 6303i screensaver doesn't work

I got a new Nokia 6303i at the weekend. I like it so far the only problem is none of the installed screensavers seem to work. I have tried all of them including the digital/analogue clock ones and none of them work. Have tried changing the power saving and sleep options to see if this affects the screensaver but no luck.
All that happens when i leave my phone alone is that after 20 seconds or so the screen dims, then after another 20 seconds it dims some more and thats it. The backlight is off and you can still faintly see the phones wallpaper but no screensaver ever comes on.
Anyone else had this problem or got their screensavers to work?

I too have a problem with clock after backlight turning off. Without SIM card all orderly that is to say: after keyboard lock and unhooking backlight contrasting watch remain on screen and symbols of the key and other symbols, which are displaced on 2 lines downwards each minute. Probably for prevention of the burning-out the screen. In mode "flight" too okay. In usual mode through after 2 minutes on dark screen appears the started white field, shifting watch upstairs, whereupon screen gradually completely goes out. And after that blank screen.

  • 6303i Display after Update

After installing software version 10.80 on my 6303i, I have lost the use of my screen saver and power saving mode. If you don't use the phone for a while the screen saver (if you have enabled it) would kick in after a certain amount of time (user defined) and shortly after that the screen saver would turn off and you would get a digital clock that moved from top to bottom of the screen. However this does not happen anymore. Has anyone else experienced this ?
    Thanks.

    Nokia 6303i

Similar problem, while trying to update to 8.2 on my iPad wirelessly (probably when the App store site went down), I was also left with a black screen.  Tried resetting, the pole symbol came up but no indicator bar showing progress.  Although iPad plugged in, after trying reset a number of times, it appears my battery has drained and iPad will not take a charge. Ouch!
I've tried connecting by cable through iTunes but the iPad is not recognized by iTunes
Any help or suggestions muchly appreciated.

  • 6303i classic not connectes via USB

My new 6303i will not connect to the PC via USB. Is there a special driver for my WIN7 installation? OVI Suite is installed.
    What else can I do?
    Regards for help.

PS Screen says No connection possible

You are correct, charging is using the charging port and also using a USB cable. It is strange that the accesories page for the 6720 only lists chargers that plug ionto the charging port. See link below.
    http://europe.nokia.com/find-products/accessories/all-accessories/power
Maybe someone with a 6720 can confirm this.
I just checked the phone spec here and it only says "2mm charger connector". It normally says "usb charging" if usb charging is possible.

  • Nokia 6303i classic software update

    Hi,
I bought new nokia 6303i classic mobile phone. Currently my software version is V06.61 . But when i browse internet that current updat reaches V 7. How can i update ? When i try to update , it shows that you have installed latest software. No updates avaliable. Help me

I have the same problem as well, any answers, furthermore it no longer saves the settings for wallpaper/screensavers
    Tamburaan wrote:
I upgraded the software for Nokia 6303i classic from V 06.61 to V 07.10. It was a mess after that. All my phone settings, contacts, messages, calendar entries, logs, everything were wiped off just like that. Either I did not notice this warning or nokia itself has missed out to highlight that this will happen.
Anyways, my major concern now is that I have lost the default applications and games that came along with it (sudoko, calculater, etc). I have tried to install it from many sites but it does not suit even though it is listed for this model. (via nokia PC suite)
Does any one know how to fix this? I desperately need atleast the calculator which came along with the phone. I have tried to reset it to factory settings – ALL – but nothing helped.
The clock will always show right in the middle left of the screen and you cant put it up right on top I guess.

  • Windows Blue Screen Error Message Appears As Soon As IPod Connected

Everytime I connect my IPod to my computer, I get the Windows Blue Screen error message. Thought it was the cable, so plugged cable in by itself. No problem. Uninstalled IPod and ITunes software and then plugged in IPod, still got the Blue Screen. The Blue Screen says something about "recent plugged in device problem". It is not the cable, it must be the IPod. Did not have this problem when I bought it. Tried it on labtop and get the same error message. I can't do updater or anything that requires me to plug the IPod into a computer because the Blue Screen appears immediately. When I unplug, the Blue Screen remains and locks up the computer so I have to restart each time. I have tried everything I can think of. Please help.

Hi Mike thank you for replying,
I am not able to start the computer in safe mode, safe mode with networking, last good known configuration etc, Each time it quickly blue screens and restarts about two secs into the process.
I was unable to try a clean OS install from the disk as it gave the blue screen error shown in the original post. The same thing happened when I tried to use the repair option on the XP home disc. So i can't get into the computer at all to start diagnosing the fault, the only clue I have is the error message, and after searching the internet I haven't found much enlightenment from that yet.
If you can help me out or suggest where to search it would be much appreciated.
    Thx

Can anyone please help me with a way of opening images in CS2 where after opening they will appear in the middle

I can drag and maximize so they appear in the middle, but on reopening another image they default to the top left again, I would like them to always
    open in the middle?
    Thanks

Still having problems?  I was struggling to find any documentation for CS2 online, but realised that my bookshelf goes back to Photoshop 6, and I have Martin Evening's Photoshop for Photographers CS2.  Unfortunately, I could see nothing in any of the Preferences tabs that would help.
At this stage I don't really know what you have tried?  You should try to reset your workspace, and if that does nothing, reset your preferences.  The usual way to do that is to hold down Shift Alt Ctrl while opening Photoshop, but I don't know for sure that worked with CS2.
Bernie Ecclestone would only need a tiny exec jet, unless he wanted to take his wife along. ;-)
CC is Creative Cloud, and Tabs are those things you see along the top of the screen in your web browser when you have more than one page open.
