6310i Bluetooth

I am using a 6310i and trying to set up with a BT4517T headset.
I have fallen at the first fence!
Having accessed the Bluetooth menu (and turned BT on at the phone) there do not appear to be any further submenus like Search for audio devices.
Whic should appear.
Headset pairs with BT on the computer so I know it is working.
Any advice please.

What that's blue tooth headset designed for(PC/Laptop or mobile phone)? There are blue tooth head set for PC/Laptop only, they don't have profile that's needed to be use on moble phone; & for mobile phone it can't be used in PC/Laptop likewise.

Can the Bluetooth on the above phone be upgraded, so that it stays connected to Bluetooth devices like car hands free kits

Not sure what you mean by upgrading but you can't really upgrade the bluetooth version on your phone if that is what you mean. Regardless, it should still work properly with any car kits and headsets are are compatible with it.

Could someone please tell me how i connect my 6310i to my computer in order that i can transfer information from the phone onto the computer. I have tried and failed.
    thankyou

Are you sure you installed the correct version of PCsuite for the 6310i?
Also, you will need to have bluetooth enabled on both the phone and pc first. On first connection, you will have to pair the two devices first.

  • Multiple problems with PC Suite 6.80 and bluetooth

After several frustrating hours with a spiral of problems, I hope someone can see a way to get this (rubbish) PC Suite software working with my 6230i phone. - System is XP SP2 on a Dell Inspiron 8600 with bluetooth built in. - Syncing with Lotus Notes 6.5 - PC Suite version I'm attempting to get working is 6.80.22 (latest as of 9/6/2006) Started with PC Suite 4.88 installed (for a 6310i phone - was trying to find a way to move contacts). This software however, had stopped working for this phone.... Day 1 - Installed PC Suite 6.8.22 (as well as 4.88) and after while got this working (sort of) - at least I got the Sync function to work OK (not the contacts list however for example) Day 2 - updated an address on PC and on phone and tried to Sync - alwasy just sat there trying to connect - nothing has changed since yesterday. (selected two way updated in advanced properties) (several hours of wasted life on a sunny evening later) Read all the stuff on this board I could and decided that problem might be because the System Info showed that I had Widcomm and Microsoft bluetooth installed. So: 1. uninstalled 4.88 version 2. Didn't read instructions carefully enough so didn't uninstall 6.80.22 3. ran the Nokia PC Suite Cleaner 3.3 (selected Other - said Yes to deleting .exe, no to deleting .dll's - wouldn't have got this if 6.80.22 was uninstalled) 4. installed 6.80.22 - tried 3 times and kept getting an error about missing components in the .msi file. Downloaded new copy, reinstall - same message, try once more, suddenly install works without error! 5. Try to connect to phone - now get error saying "no available connection type" - i.e bluetooth not working. - check System Info - "no supported bluetooth Stack" is listed. (Had both Widcomm and MS before) - check I CAN connect to the phone using e.g. bluetooth icon on and using say the "Audio gateway" function - so bluetooth IS installed OK - just PC Suite doesn't recognise. 6. Uninstalled PC Suite 6.80.22 7. Ran Nokia PC Suite Cleaner 3.3, selecting "other" 8. Install PC Suite 6.80.22 9. Try to connect - exactly the same problem as before. 10. Try to activate MS bluetooth - using CP-> System-> hardware-> device manager-> bluetooth devices-> properties -> driver -> update driver as suggested elsewhere but find that after “bluetooth devices” I have to select “Dell TrueMobile Bluetooth Module” befpre driver-> update driver (which tells me that it is updated – though at least twice before I have found newer drivers after being given this message) 11. Go to bed after 6 wasted hours. (sorry if there is no formatting in this - there was when I typed it, but the preview shows none and I can't seem to add any spaces, lines etc) Thanks Andrew

    Hi Manta
After a downward spiral where the BT stopped working at some point during an install/uninstall, so i tried to follow some of the guides to sort out removing Microsoft BT and only having Widcomm - however at almost every turn there were problems, error messages not anticipated etc. to the point where nothing worked....
Eventually thought to go back to a XP restore point which got the BT working again. (Microsoft and Widcomm drivers are both installed as before).
Then had to run PC suite 4.88 to remove (kept getting error messgaes by doing it from add/remove in ctrl panel) and then had to reinstall PC suite 6.80-22 and removing it also gave unanticipated error messages.
Did as you suggest and ran the cleaner through every stage (requiring 4 or so "installs" of this software and 3 reboots if you do as the software tells you..)
Reinstalled and it almost seems to work as well as it did when I first installed it - apart from now I can't sync my calendar - get a message about the server being down even though it clearly isn't as I can use my email and calender though the Notes client without a problem...
    Dodgy PC suite software again??
(I've also noticed that if you have tried to sync and it fails and then you try again, it pretends to have done a sync but in fact as long as the fail message is on the phone screen this will lock it out from another sync function...though this is not clear on the PC)
If you or anyone else has any idea about the server connection failure message I'd appreciate hearing about it - and I'll go and have a look throught the boards to see if anyone else has seen this.

  • How to change the bluetooth name? in my pc,

    Hi there!
How to change the Bluetooth name for my N70.
I can change it in my N70, but the first installed name still pops up on my computer. Can't find it anywhere so i can have the same name in my phone as on the computer. Is there some kind of registry that keeps the first name maybe??
    Any ideas?

I am not sure about how to change SERVICE_NAME in PL/SQL Developer (if at all it can be done in that ), but you will have to change the SERVICE_NAME in the TNSNAMES.ORA file.
    1. Locate the entry for PLSExtProc in the file tnsnames.ora at:
    $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/tnsnames.ora
    2. Change the SERVICE_NAME = ORCL
    3. Save and reconnect

  • N8 - Use of WLAN rather than USB lead or Bluetooth

Is there an application available for the N8 to allow the use of WLAN to copy files across to a PC, rather than having to use Bluetooth or the USB lead.
I quite often use Bluetooth to transfer files such as Images but WLAN would be much faster.
    History: Always Nokia since 1994 including Nokia 2140, 7110e, 6150, 6210, 6310i, 6230i, N82
Current: Nokia N8 (Anna - I have no intention of going to Belle) - and delighted with it!

Dukto http://store.ovi.com/content/67131?clickSource=search will do that. You will need to also install it on your computer, link is in the store description. There was an issue with it defaulting to C: on the phone and filling the memory when transferring files to the phone, so make sure you check the settings - Although I think the developer was intending to solve the problem with this newer release - there is a thread about this somewhere on here, a search for Dukto should find it.

  • Bluetooth Help Needed!

    Hi,
Sorry if this is in the wrong place. If you move it can you please message me and let me know as I am new here.
I have windows XP, a nokia 6111 and I have a wireless dongo bluetooth version 3.
I keep getting this error when I try to connect my phone via wireless bluetooth to my laptop:
"Cannot use the connection type. Check that all the needed hardware, software and drivers are available"
I realise people have already asked about this error but my question is does anyone know where I can update my bluetooth stack software as I understand you need version 4 and I'm hoping that will solve the problem if I can find it. I have tried looking but can't see an upgrade anywhere on the Toshiba site for bluetooth stack.
    Can someone please help?

  • Connecting laptop (XP) to Yoigo with 6310i (open)

From a Bluetooth DUN icon I can get the phone to start to access the network. In 'Navegador' mode (wap browsing, I think, this is a Spanish service) it works fine, so I have money on the SIM card and can connect via my phone without Bluetooth. So Bluetooth works, and we can access the network.
I believe that I have to set the phone to Internet to work with the laptop, which is what I am doing.
When I try to connect the phone says:-
    Connecting...pause....Connect with Laptop?
    I then 'Accept'
Phone - "Connected to Laptop" for 2 seconds then "Creating GPRS connection" then "Subscribe to GPRS first" at which the connection drops out and I get an error messge on the Laptop "Error 734: The PPP Link control protocol was terminated"
I thought that I must be subscribed to GPRS given that I can browse happily on the phone (In Navegadoe mode, not in Internet mode) and see the news, etc., with G on the display signifying GPRS.
What could be meant by "Subscribe to GPRS first"?
So near, but yet so far?
    Many thanks for your help

I've found the answer so for the benefit of those who follow....
In the Nokia 6310i there are TWO places where the GPRS modem needs to be specified. Under "Settings" and under "Services" All of the internet and data stuff is carried out under Services and the modem was correctly specified in there but on the off-chance I re-typed the designated name under Settings > GPRS modem settings > Edit acess point and I changed the name for Access Point 5 (an arbitrary one) to 'internet' which was the correct designation for the Yoigo service. Then the thing worked perfectly.

  • 6230i Bluetooth connectivity problems

    Sorry for long posting...
I have recently purchased a 6230i to replace my 6310i.
I previously used a CA-42 USB cable for the 6310i but that is reported by the 6230i as incompatible - grrh.
And now I am trying to set up the Bluetooth connectivity.
I have (eventually) managed to get the 6230i paired to my Laptop using a Belkin USB Bluetooth and the Belkin software running on WinXP (IBM T41 laptop). PC Suite runs but seems to be a little unreliable over Bluetooth - will address that by sourcing a DKU-2 cable.
However, I have problems with pairing the 6230i with my Sony HBH-600 headset (works perfectly with 6310i) I can get the 6230i to discover the headset either by searching for audio enhancements or by setting up a new pair, however it always fails to set up the connection (never asks for passkey).
Similarly I cannot get my Ipaq 5550 to pair with the 6230i. I can start the pairing from the Ipaq which finds the 6230i but the 6230i never acknowledges the pairing attempt which then fails. If I start the pairing process from the 6230i it finds the Ipaq and attempts to pair but never asks to setup a passkey - the Ipaq does not seems to receive the pairing attempt.
I have set the auto connect option to yes and no with no difference.
    Any suggestions ?
Needless to say all this worked perfectly with the 6310i.

    Further to original post
The Bluetooth connectivity all works between the IBM T41, Ipaq 5550, Sony HBH600 headset and a Nokia 6810 phone.
So the problem appears to be the Nokia 6230i phone.
Further research gives some rather disapointing information.
    http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=2629
If you have problems performing pairing between an iPAQ 1940/2210 and the Nokia 6230 and continually get an error similar to "Cannot pair devices for security reasons" then it's related to the problem outlined in that document.
This is a Hardware issue and not a software issue related to the WIDCOMM BTW-CE Product. There are two types of keys that can be used for pairing:
    - Combination keys
    - Unit keys
The key type that is used is pre-set in the Bluetooth Radio Firmware. The WIDCOMM BTW-CE Bluetooth software
does not control this setting. The radio on the iPAQ 1940 uses unit keys by default. These Nokia phones reject the use of unit keys in pairing because it is not as secure as combination keys.
Users of older HP iPAQ models should check the HP Drivers page for the latest OS or Bluetooth software for their devices.
I note that my Ipaq is older than the two models mentioned and that my headset is 16 months old. So it looks as if the 6230i is going back - stupid no backwards compatibility.
thanks to Geekzone for the info.

  • N80 Bluetooth Connection to Blackberry

Has anybody managed to connect an N80 to a Blackberry using Bluetooth?
I tried to send my brother some podcasts via BT over the w/end and kept getting "Transfer failed". The N80 and Blackberry paired no problem, but just wouldn't transfer files.

toekneem did you get this resolved fully?
If so, can you send any links to Toyota Site stating 'fully futureproof' etc.
All I got was that they only recommend phones that have:-
    Object Push Profile 1.1
    Handsfree Profile 1.0
    Bluetooth 1.1
Bluetooth 2 devices that are backward compatible are not recommended.
I was also told that there is a disclaimer after the 'futureproof' statement saying that the above is subject to change etc etc etc and they WOULD NOT be upgrading these. Some help would be appreciated!Message Edited by tazdevil_1974 on 02-May-200703:50 PM

  • Bluetooth. 2 simultaneous connections

    Hi
I'm planning to upgrade my phone (currently a 6310i which does almost all I want....cameras and radios I don't need.
What I would like is to be able to pair two bluetooth devices. These would be phone modem to connect to net to update Tomtom traffic info and handsfree headset.
So both would be paired at the beginning of the journey and would like phone to handle switching between the two , without manual intervention.
Does anyone know of a phone model that will do this? E60 seems the only one I've found and mobile provider's responses so far aren't reliable.
    hope someone can help.
    dave

@mac_freak:Look what I have just found in the FAQ section of the Nokia N80 support pages:
Q: On my device, can there be several active Bluetooth connections at a time?
A: Yes. For example, if you are connected to a headset, you can also transfer files to another compatible device at the same time.
Note: Some active connection might limit establishing another connection. E.g. if your phone has an active connection to headset you can not connect your phone simultaneously to car kit.
So it appears to be a problem with car kits only, this is why I have no trouble with headset and GPS receiver. I hope this sheds some light on this matter.

After installing 10.4.7, I lost BT connection to my cell phone. The phone still shows up in the BlueTooth Setup Assistant, but the Assistant freezes in the "Gathering additional information.." stage.
The phone is a Nokia 6310i with firmware version 5.52.
Does anyone have a similar experience? Everything worked just fine with 10.4.6.

My Nokia 6310 (not "i") still works with 10.4.7 on my PowerBook Ti without problems.
