64 bit Flash beta - where?
I have read about a beta version of a 64 bit Flash driver, yet when I attempt to access it to download, I just get into a loop of moving back and forth between various webpages when clicking on the links to the beta download. Has the file been removed?
Does anyone know if it's available to the home user for download and if so, where might I find it.
My thanks,
Mary

64 bit Flash crashing Firefox - Not just Arch
Hi everybody,
I was wondering if anybody else is having a problem with 64 bit Flash. This isn't Arch specific, as it has happened on a custom Ubuntu remaster as well.
The graphics card is on a laptop - Ati 9600 and it happens with vesa and ati/radeon drivers. I thought it was the graphics card or xorg, but this doesn't happen with a 32bit Dreamlinux with 32bit Flash.
Youtube runs fine, whereas sites like http://www.goober.com/ with flash video just shutdown Firefox. I'm wondering of there are different types of flash video, does anybody with more knowledge know about these things?
When Firefox is started from the terminal (to look for an error message) it just says segfault.
Thanks in advance for any advice.http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php? … 01#p587601

File downloads not working in Pepper-Flash beta 11.8.800.115 (chrome)
Pepper-Flash Beta version 11.8.800.115 was auto-installed in latest Chrome update (29.0.1547.57 m). This flash version does not display save/open dialog when clicking on a link that opens a file via flash.net.navigateToURL(request, "_self"). Request is an http get that calls a servlet that responds with a binary stream.
The follow are two separate workarounds that we used. We initially used the first workaround below until figuring out #2.
(1) Use the download function on a flash.net.FileReference object. The flow is not as nice, but works as long as the download occurs as part of a user initiated event, such as a button click. We added a switch so that this workaround was only used if the browser was Chrome, so that IE and Firefox kept the same flow.
(2) Embed a hidden frame in your html and make an ExternalInterface call similar to the following to target the download to it. We also have an exit page prompt, but targeting a hidden frame does not affect it:
ExternalInterface.call("downloadFileToHiddenFrame", url);
Javascript function...
function downloadFileToHiddenFrame(locationRef) {
top.frames["myhiddenframename"].location.href = locationRef;
One note, we always use application/octet-stream as the mime type for downloads to avoid the possibility of the file actually rendering in the hidden frame. After implementing #2 above, file downloads in Chrome now flow exactly the same as before the pepper flash issue surfaced.
Hope this helps. -

I need to install 64 bit flash player on my 64 bit system
How do I uninstall the 32 bit flash player that is on my system now?
Hi williew87663771,
What OS version do you have? On Windows and Mac the Flash Player installer is a universal installer that contains both the 32- and 64-bit players. If you have Windows or Mac the correct version is already installed. On Linux there are two different files and the installer type depends on the Linux distribution.

Installation of 32 bit and 64 bit Flash on same CPU
I have a 64 bit version of Windows 7 and an installation of a 64 bit IE 9.0 and a 32 bit version of IE 9.0 installed and running simultaneously on the same computer system.
After downloading the latest Flash player, installation went well for my 64 bit version of IE 9.0. I notice that my 32 bit version of IE 9.0 was not updated.
How do I get the 32 bit version installed.I attached two files. I don't know why they did not make it through the e-mail systems. I will attempt one more time.

64-Bit Flash-Player (Language: German - Deutsch)
Hallo,

Linux - after update to firefox 5 64-bit flash player stopped working
After updating firefox 5 (from stable repo) the flash player stopped working.
I have had installed the adobe flash player square (64 bit) - by following http://queleimporta.com/en/finally-adobe-releases-native-64-bit-flash-10-for-linux/ ...
The .so library is still on its place(/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so), though firefox does not seem to have flash player installed.
before update to firefox 5 it worked
system is Xubuntu 10.04Finally I've found out that it's possible to install flash from lucid repositories (which works... named 'flashplugin installer')... I've never noticed that before... So sorry for asking stupid question and thanks to anyone who spend some time even only by reading this thread.
//EDIT: so question 2 - how to tag the topic as solved? :) -
32 bit Flash version with Windows 7
Howdo
I am being asked by a supplier of an online technical test to install a 32 bit version of adobe flash player because the 64 bit version I have currently installed will not work. My environment is Windows 7 Home Premium, IE10. I have visited the Adobe download site, but that merely points me to 64 bit versions.
Any ideas ?
Cheers
RichardThank you for your reply.
The online assessment will not work. I suspect it relies on flash to run it. After I log in I proceed through a couple of screens which talk about the assessment. The screen supplies 2 buttons, 1 to start a practice session, another to do the actual assessment. I click the practice button whereupon a small popup window appears with a "please wait" message. This is quickly replaced by an errorpage.aspx which reports an error code. Following a link to an explanation of the error code it tells me this:
"This message is displayed when the connection to the assessment system cannot be established. A firewall or security software may be blocking the test from downloading or one of your browser software components is not up-to-date.
In order to overcome this problem, please ensure your version of Java and Adobe Flash Player is up-to-date. You can download the latest version for free using the below links:
Java: www.java.com/getjava/
Flash: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/"
In addition to this a link is displayed which helpfully attempts to verify environment setting. It opens another page which lists some current computer settings. Those checked as correct are given a green tick, those in error are given a red cross. Operating system and browser type are OK with green ticks, Flash plugin version and windows media player are marked with red crosses with links next to both to show how to fix them. The flash link takes me to another screen which displays this message:
"If you are using Internet Explorer (IE) please ensure that you use the 32-bit version. Flash is not compatible with the 64-bit version of IE."
Then it points to the adobe site to get the right download.
If my 64 bit flash also comes with 32 bit, how do I switch it on please ?
Thank you

64 bit Flash Player for Windows
Just in case anyone at Adobe actually reads this forum (which I doubt).
Why is it taking so long for Adobe to release a 64 bit Flash Player for Windows. 64 bit computing has been readily available to purchase for nearly three years now (Linux even longer). What are they doing at Adobe?. Is it because they think there is not enough money in it for them?
What a sad state of affairs.I have now been waiting over a year for a 64 Bit Windows flash player that will work on IE8.
I have had a 64 bit computer for two plus years and cannot understand the reluctance by the software market providers to support the ever increasing 64 bit community. Its rediculous it seems that they will not write these programs as there are not so many people using 64 bit and there are not so many people going for 64 bit because there are not so many 64 bit pieces of software out there.
I believe that it is up to the softawre writers to take the lead. Adobe being one of them. They are supposed to be a leading edge software provider yet they appear not to be able to provide 64 bit software, or at least not in this decade.
If you google 64 bit flash player it comes back with 14 million hit requests - surely 14 million is enough for Adobe to think about actually realeasing something.
I use Windows 7 64 Bit OS and it is the best OS I have used to date - rock steady and dam fast. I use IE8 64 bit as a browser and Firefox 32 bit so I can use flash. I have been having problems with the latest release of Firefox (3.5) so tend to use the IE8 more - this is very fast - But no Flash available!!!!!
It has been a very long time now - come on Adobe there are enough people out there wanting it - give us a date for a 64 bit Windows Flash player - preferably before then end of the year (2009) rather than the end of the decade - thanks guys! -
32-bit flash and java plugins freeze firefox and gnome on 64-bit linux
I have installed FC13 64-bit and am running 32-bit firefox 3.6.8 so that I can run flash plugin.
When I start 32-bit firefox 3.6.8 and go to site with flash or java applet, firefox locks up my gnome desktop necessitating a reboot of my computer.
Firefox 3.6.8 32-bit
Flash 10.1r82
Java jdk 1.6.0_15 32-bit
I have used a similar configuration on 32-bit FC13 with 32-bit Firefox 3.6.8 and everything works fine. No lockups.Hi!
I finally solved this problem. The 32-bit libflashplugin required a 32-bit libcurl library that is not installed by default on 64-bit linux systems (at least not on Fedora). Once I installed 32-bit libcurl libs, flash and java plugins starting magically working.
In my opinion, 64-bit Fedora has done a poor job with 32-bit compatibility viz a viz 32-bit libs. I will submit an improvement ticket to Fedora folks about installing more 32-bit libs on 64-bit distros.

First I apologise for having to create another thread but it seems the question was a little hard for them last time because they deleted the thread.
I would like to know why it's taking Adobe so long to create a 64 bit version of flash. I think we all know if this was Microsoft it would have been out not long after Windows XP 64 bit came out. Adobe however is still dragging their feet years after!.
Many of us are using 32 bit browsers because Adobe can't be bothered, well unless you run binux because they've got something out for that. One wonders what would happen to Adobe if Windows users just stopped buying their products and so they relied on binux customers who prefer open source!Hello Adobe? I know you're not busy. Definitly aren't, had atleast 5 years to make 64 bit flash and still havent. Answer the question.
