64 bit installation in Lightroom 2 for MAC

The readme file that came with Lightroom 2 for MAC states:
"Mac: Lightroom 2 is a 32-bit application by default. For customers using OS X 10.5 on an Intel-based computer, Lightroom 2.0 can be used as a 64-bit application by selecting Adobe Lightroom 2 in the Application folder, choosing Get Info(CMD I) and un-checking the Open in 32 Bit Mode option".
Sorry but I don't follow these instructions. The dmg file does not include a Get Info (CMD I) file. Installing Lightroom 2 to the application folder works fine, but I only find the "Adobe Lightroom.app" file. Right clicking this app file and selecting Get Info brings up the file information window, but there is no box to uncheck to turn off the 32 Bit Mode option. I don't find anything of use in the "application support file" either.
Help! What have I done wrong or am I looking in the wrong place?
iMAC description: OS X version 10.5.4; Processor 1.83 GHz Core Duo; Memory 2GB; Grpahics card ATI Radeon X1600; 128 MB VRAM; Resolution 1440 x 900; Depth 32-bit Color; Home hard drive 124 GB free with Lightroom 1 & 2 installed.

Thanks for all the responses. Didn't realize Core Due processor was not 64 bit capable. Assume that is why I don't see a check box for "Open in 32 Bit Mode" in my "Get Info" window.
Sincerely,
Jim Strain

  • How do I import from Photoshop elements 12 to Lightroom for Mac OS?

How do I import from Photoshop elements 12 to Lightroom for Mac OS?

I never did it from Windows to Mac.
I assume you need to move everything to Mac PSE12 (or PSE 13) by downloading the 30 day free trial of PSE 12 or 13, and then once everything is working, use File->Upgrade Photoshop Elements Catalog in Lightroom. Your tags and albums will remain intact. I believe the face recognition transfers as well to keywords, but the location in the photo of the face will be gone as Lightroom has no such feature.

  • Adobe Lightroom for Mac OS version 10.6.8?

Is there an Adobe Lightroom for Mac OS version 10.6.8?  I have a trial one but can't download it onto my computer

    Hi jdnels37,
Here are the tech specs required for different versions of Lightroom.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/system-requirements-lightroom.html
You can try with Lightroom 5, though it is not tested & approved with 10.6.8, if that doesnt work, go for lightroom 4.
    Link for downloading the trial:

  • Lightroom for Mac, PowerBook G4, Operating system OS X 10.2

    Hello all
Is there a version of Lightroom that can be downloaded for Mac, PowerBook G4, Operating system OS X 10.2. I have tried Lightroom 1.1 but that needs 10.4 or above. Any advice is appreciated.

No way. A lot of the system-level things that LR requires are 10.4 only.
Time to upgrade your machine ;-)

  • Installation of CS6 for Mac trial version seems to have stopped?

Trying to download trial version of CS6 for Mac and have got to installation of Acrobat X Pro.  The download says it's 85% complete and the time is getting increasing longer has been installing for 2hours and the time to complete is currently showing 23 minutes and increasing.

Adobe only sell the latest version of Creative Suite which is CS6 so you can't buy CS5 anymore. Upgrades are also only available from CS5 to CS6 so CS3 wouldn't qualify anyway.
I'm afraid you are out of luck.

  • HT4410 how to download win 7 64 bit home premium drivers for mac pro

You should visit the Boot Camp forum rather than posting here in the Macbook Pro forum. There are multiple threads about your issue going on right now. https://discussions.apple.com/community/windows_software/boot_camp

  • 64 bit OS and Applications for Mac Pro

I was all set to replace my ailing G5 PM with a MBP when Apple released the Mac Pros today. I originally bought the G5 because I wanted to be able to run 64 bit software when that became the standard. With the switch to 32 bit Intel chips, I thought that was no longer a concern. With Woodcrest chips in the Mac Pro, however, I guess it is.
When the 64 bit Leopard is released and developers also release 64 bit software, will it all run on the 32 bit MBPs? Apple has said that the 64 bit machines will run 32 bit software side-by-side, but I am worried about compatability in the other direction.
    Dual 2.0 G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I'm an active ADC member, paid developer account through for work, though I do not believe it's up on ADC yet to download for dvelopers as preview release. It would be in the next week or so i'd think once they get it out to the higher-priority accounts/users. Apple was giving out a developer preview with all technologies and xcode3.0 and do-ddads to attendees at wwdc today after the keynote. i was lucky enough to be attending wwdc for work with my boss and another employee (at first i 'uged' it, but it is great so far! can't wait for tomorrow).
basicly you are right, its developer only (apple obviosuly and soon ADC members) as well as the dev preview that was handed otu at wwdc today

  • 16 bit printing in Lightroom for Windows

According to a Lightroom 2 video from NAPP about printing, Scott Kelby states that 16 bit output is only available if you have OSX Leopard because it is an operating system specific feature, and Windows does not support 16 bit printing. However, Canon supplies a Photoshop plugin with the iPF5100 printer that supports 16 bit output regardless of the operating system in use. So I'm just curious why Lightroom doesn't support 16 bit output for Windows, but Photoshop does?  Or am I missing something?
I've also asked the question at answers.microsoft.com if Windows 7 is going to support 16 bit printing, and a Microsoft MVP said "If a 16-bit print driver is created for the printer, 7 will not stop it from doing that. How an image is converted to print is not an OS limitation. The print driver does that."  So who am I to believe?  I would imagine that if Windows was capable of 16 bit print output then Adobe would support it on the Windows platform right?  So if anyone from Adobe can answer this question, I would greatly appreciate it.
    Regards,
    Dean

When it comes to printing, LR talks to the OS, and the OS talks to the printer driver. Therefore, if LR supports 16-bit printing, the driver supports 16-bit printing, but the OS only supports 8-bit printing, then there's no benefit. The Canon PS plug-in is different because the OS is not involved; the plug-in is effectively talking directly to the printer driver.
That said, I do not know for certain which versions of Windows support 16-bit print paths, not having investigated the matter myself.
(I also humbly suggest that it's not as big of a deal as you might think. One the list of technical matters that factor into print quality, I'd have to rank 8-bit vs 16-bit printing as being pretty far towards the bottom.)

  • How to Uninstall Lightroom for Mac

I just upgraded to Version 2, I want to uninstall version 1 without effecting V.2, Ive looked everywhere for the uninstaller, to no avail.

    hamish niven wrote:
Neither of those methods will competely remove lightroom 1.0 from your mac, there is a super little app that uninstalls everything related to a program, library files, caches, etc etc
Its called appzapper. It traces through all the relevant files and removes them all.
I dont know whether lightoom 2 uses the same caches, etc etc
    Just my observation

Then maybe you should NOT be recommending this. Good way to lose Presets, Galleries and other related items. Just do as the earlier repliers suggest.

  • Iphoto, dxo, lightroom for MAC

    Good day,
What is the best way to have photos (already in IPhoto), be thereafter processed by DXO and later by Lightroom and back to IPhoto as finished photos??.
I know that IPhoto allows one external processing but doesn't allow two.
    Best regards
    Ray.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
    1. Lightroom is, like iPhoto, a Digital Asset Manager, not a photo editor. LR cannot process photos that have not been imported to its database, just like iPhoto. LR is firmly focussed on the Raw shooter, and frankly, I don't understand why someone would want to use iPhoto if they are also using LR (or, indeed, Apple's Aperture). Think of it this way: they both do essentially the same job, but LR does a whole lot more (and is rather more expensive too.)
If you do want to use iPhoto for books or somesuch, then I would process the photos in LR and afterwards export them to iPhoto using a plug in such as *_this*_
    2. I'm not familiar with DXO but it too seems to be a Raw processor, so again, I would process the pics with this prior to importing them to iPhoto.
    Regards
    TD

  • Downloading lightroom for mac.

ive just bought myself a new mac, can i use my old license number to download lightroom on this, or do i have to purchase it all over?
also, how do i find my old license number if i have deleted the mail?
    thanks!

Yes you can redownload the version you had before.
If you need your serial number and you registered your copy before, Adobe has a record of it. Sign in using your Adobe ID and you should be able to retrieve your serial number.

  • Lightroom for Mac 10.6.8

    Hi,
I have a MacBook Pro 10.6.8. I noticed that I do not have the requirements for LightRoom 5. Is it still possible to acquire LightRoom 4 instead?
Thanks in advance for the information,
    Pierre-Olivier Gaudreau

You will be able to upgrade to 5 or 6 when you get your new computer if you buy the FULL Lr4 now. (I see it is still available in several places on Amazon)   It all depends if you need Lr now and how long it will be before you upgrade to a new computer.

  • LightRoom for mac not keeping serial number

Anytime a user runs LR for the first time after a reboot it asks for a serial number. this is true for both local administrators, Open Directory Admins, and non-admin users.
I called Adobe, but because it's a volume educational license, it has to go to Tier 2 and they charge for that.
