64 bit itunes

When I try to open itunes (sometimes) I get a message saying I have to unclick the "use 32 bit option".  It already is unclicked.  Rebooting, restarting doesn't do anything.  I have to reinstall itunes.   What goes?

Same problem but something strange just happened. After trying 3 or 4 possible solutions for hours I had just about given up. I downloaded itunes 11.1.5 for one last time but from a different server. No luck with Firefox or Chrome, but with Safari I had no problem. All started right up... don't ask me how. All is running beautifully, itunes 11.1.5 on OS X 10.9.2 Mavericks. Just thought I would let you know even though I know it is more luck than a solution.

  • Cannot uninstall 32 bit iTunes on Windows 7 64 Bit

Just got a new computer with Windows 7 64 bit. I transferred my programs over included the 32 bit version of iTunes. I want to install the 64 bit version, but when I run the 64 bit installer it gives me an error message that I have the 32 bit version and that I need to download the 64 bit version. I tried to uninstall iTunes from the Control Panel, but I get the same error. Can anyone help?

Scraping a 32-bit iTunes out of a 64-bit system can be tricky.
Perhaps let's first try this. Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from Microsoft:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
Now run the utility ("Start > All programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC, and try another iTunes (64-bit) install. Does it go through properly this time?
(If you get another error message on the reinstall attempt, let us know what that one says too.)

    Current System Setup
Microsoft Office 2013 Standard Edition - 64 Bit
    iTunes 12.1.2.27 - 64 Bit
    Windows 8.1 Professional Edition - 64 Bit
    Current Issue:
Outlook Calendar and Contacts stopped syncing several weeks ago.  When it stopped the computer was setup with and had been setup like this for a very long time with no issues.
Microsoft Office 2010 Standard Edition - 64 Bit
    iTunes 11.x - 64 Bit
    Windows 8.1 Professional Edition - 64 Bit
Went to the local Apple Store.  The tech blew away iTunes completely, even taking out the library xlm, and all supporting Apple apps.  Nothing worked.
Went to the Microsoft Store at the same mall right after the Apple Store.  He blew away the C:\Users\XXXXXX\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\ folder and all of the subfolders.  FYI...That folder was 10GB in size.  Still no luck.
I updated the computer to Office 2013 Standard Edition - 64 Bit.  No luck.
I read multiple articles with people having similar issues with different degrees of success.  I checked everything from the PST file default, Firewall Settings, Outlook Trust Center, etc, etc.
The one thing I see missing in Outlook is the "iTunes Outlook Add-In".  It is not listed in the COM-Addins section at all.  I have not found any reference to how to bring back this COM-Addin to Outlook for iTunes or if it is necessary for this version of Outlook and iTunes.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hmm, have you looked at Troubleshooting Sync Services on Windows with Microsoft Outlook 2003, Outlook 2007, or Outlook 2010 - Apple Support yet?
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • Ipod Touch and Windows 7 64 Bit - Itunes not recognizing

I have Windows 7 64 bit operating system. I have been struggling with getting my Itunes and Ipod touch to work together - somewhere an update or upgrade screwed things up.
Right now, I have Itunes 10 64 bit installed on my computer. When I plug in the Ipod touch to sync, I get a message in Itunes telling me that this Ipod requires the 64 bit Itunes and I need to remove and reinstall the 64 bit version of Itunes.
Needless to say, I've removed and reinstalled the 64 bit version 3 times. Still won't recognize my Ipod Touch.
    HELP!
    HP Desktop

    Hey!!
Well ... After about 3 months of searching, going to the apple Genius bar... (seriously they wanted me to delete my stuff... I couldn't live without my books I downloaded from drinkmalk.com which is now defunct)
So.. I am running a Dell Studio 1557 Windows 7 (no SP installed yet), 64 Bit and I own a 3rd Generation Ipod Touch, 32 Gig and had many of the same problems. In my case... I was able to update software, but I couldn't sync music onto my ipod or transfer purchases I would get: Internal Device error, operation failed... etc etc.. .every sync error you can think of...
MAGIC FIX (For me.. and other users)
    1. There is a known bug that says its a chipset issue (Just google Ipod sync chipset issues and realize you aren't alone)... Most likely you don't Have a PCI card slot to put a new usb thing on... so.. that is a no go...
    2. SOLUTION (that worked for me) - UPDATE THE BIOS on your PC. If you go to your computer manufacturer's driver site... you can search for these updates. Chances are... you have the version that was installed on your computer that is out of date (its not one of those things that automatically updates). For the most part, you never really need to update it since it doesn't affect regular functioning... most people update it on the advice of a technician. Either way, I went to the Dell support site, looked up my laptop and found the install file.
WARNING BACK UP YOUR HARD DRIVE AHEAD OF TIME IF YOU DECIDE TO DO THIS!! ALSO, RESEARCH HOW TO MAKE A BIOS RECOVERY DISK IN THE CASE IT CRASHES.. BETTER YET, CONSULT YOUR LOCAL GEEK FOR SUPERVISION, IF FOR ANY REASON THE BIOS UPDATE FAILS AND IT DOES HAPPEN SINCE WE KNOW PC's are WONKY... YOU MAY RISK BRICKING YOUR COMPUTER... Just google "Bios Update Failure" to see the horror stories..
However.. that said and done.. I updated it ... made the mistakes above and was able to get my computer back by leaving the battery out for an hour, pressing the power button for 30 seconds and restarting ... after the failure scare... saved me 200 bucks from dell customer service
Good News: With the updated bios... SYNC WORKS PERFECTLY!! I can put music on, transfer stuff out... no errors!! =) JOY!

  • Unknown error -50 while syncing CONTACTS in Windows Vista 64 Bit & iTunes 9

My operating environment: Windows Vista Home Premium 64 Bit; iTunes 9.0.2.25. iPod is Classic 80 GB, setup for a hard rive also. Music sync is fine. iPod plays the music tracks fine.
Problem: Few days back I tried to sync my "contacts" from my Windows Mail. This worked fine. But, I noticed that my Contacts in the Windows Mail had dupicates and not in proper sequence (last name, first name). So, I spent a lot of time in fixing the records in Windows Mail. I then re-synced the revised Contacts with my iPod. The sync process ended quickly normally, but, nothing changed in the iPod - still showing old records. I tried this sync process couple of times, but no chnage!
Next, I went to Windows Explorer and opened the Computer, and RT-clicked on the iPod icon and opened the properties and deleted the file shown on the hard drive/iPod. and then resynced again. Now I got an error message: "The ipod "--------" cannot be synced. An unlnown error occurred (-50).
Can some one please tell me: 1) how to sync the contacts so they show my new, revised contacts? and 2) how to get rid of this -50 error?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
I unfortunately have no solution but same error is occuring on mine as well. Also Vista. It happened first 2 days ago after having sync my ipod to latest software 1.1.2 I have then updated to iTunes 9 but no change. Music is seeming to update but the error maintains. If we as user have no idea whom could we contact at apple to get pro help? I mean we are purchasing expensive stuff and we could expect some help. all the best Matt

I have 32 bit itunes on a 64 bit Windows. Can't install 64 bit itunes because the 32 bit willl not uninstall.

    Excellent news.
That one can sometimes hit people if they've used the PC Mover utility to transfer a 32-bit iTunes program onto a 64-bit system. Similar issues can arise if a 32-bit Bonjour or 32-bit AMDS get transfered across to a 64-bit system by PC Mover, so it might pay to keep a weather eye out for that (if you've used PC Mover).

  • ITunes 12.1 has static-y music, the 64 bit iTunes for old video drivers did NOT fix

Playing music on my iTunes has all of a sudden become static-y as of the 12.1 update, I looked for a while and found the "64 bit iTunes for older video drivers" and found that it fixed the problem for most people, I installed it and tried playing music, it's still static-y, I've changed my audio bitrate playback and bits per sample and nothing has changed, does anyone have a fix?

Did you see if changing the Play Audio Using select in Edit > Preferences > Playback to "Direct Sound" resolves the issue?  Otherwise you may want to consider rolling back to 12.0 and waiting until a future release is shown to resolve the playback issues in 12.1.  See Turingtest2's notes on Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for steps needed to completely remove all installed iTunes components, and for links to the 12.0 installers.

  • Windows 7 Pro (64-bit), iTunes 10 and AppleTV (160Gb)

I'm trying to move my iTunes collection to a PC running windows 7 pro (64bit) - a machine I'm happier to leave on 24/7 than my iMac.
I've a fresh install of windows and installed the latest 64-bit iTunes. However, the PC doesn't display the AppleTV under the devices options in the iTunes UI.
My iMac, connected alongside reports that it is there which suggests that the problem is not in my router etc. but just with the Windows PC config.
I would have thought that the likely candidates are Bonjour setup (which is just the default install from iTunes) or the OS firewall config.
Any ideas why this doesn't "just work" by default? Am I expected to manually revise the bonjour TCP/UDP setting in Windows personal firewall etc? Should I be re-installing Bonjour?
I've looked on the forum and there doesnt seem to be a definitive answer. Given I'm using a fresh install, I would have expected this to be more straight forward.
    thanks
    Tim

I can but fonts, bullets, etc will not properly embed unless I save my file as a postscript file and run Distiller.  Distiller then allows me a pdf that I can send to the commercial printer.  However, Distiller will not  run if I  use the Adobe PDF printer.  Adobe no longer supports MS  Publisher but there is a work around by saving publisher as a postscript file, then use Distiller I can send the newspaper to a commercial printer.  My concern is that if I upgrade to Adobe XI standard or pro will I be able to use this work around?  This has taken me hours to figure out and now that I have the program working with Acrobat 9 standard and MS Publisher 2007 I would hate to have to spend hours figuring this out again.  Best question, I guess, would be how long Adobe will support Acrobat .
    Thank you very much.

    Hi, ATPMolloy.
I certainly understand your frustration and will do my best to help.  I see you have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes with no change in results.  I have attached an article below that specifically troubleshoots this issue that you are experiencing.

honestly on a Windows I do not know how, there are programs that you can download that will tell you, and there are unix scripts that can tell you. to find out how, you might want to talk to somebody who owns a windows and is proficient in using it.

When I plug in my iphone 4S to my 64-bit computer a error box comes up in my 64-bit itunes that reads (This iphone cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the Itunes installer to remove itunes, than install the 64-bit version of itines.) This just started a few weeks ago. I've done a system restore on my computer, deleated and reinstalled the 64-bit itunes several times, did a registery clean, rebooted. Nothing seems to work it will not pick up my phone.

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • Installing 32-bit  itunes on a 64-bit system

Apple's web site keeps installing 64-bit 9.0.2 itunes on my system, which uses Windows 7 64-bit. iTunes does not work properly, not adding entire folders to my library. My guess is that the 32-bit version is more stable, as is the case with IE 8.x (64-bit has "issues").
The problem is, how do I force Apple.com to download the 32-bit version of the software?

+how do I force Apple.com to download the 32-bit version of the software?+
You don't. itunes is still a 32-bit program. It's just the drivers that are 64-bit so they will work on your 64-bit system.
If itunes isn't adding folders to your library, it might be because it doesn't like the MP3 headers. Here is a good explanation of that, and what to do.
    http://trevinchow.com/blog/tag/mp3-tag-validator/
It talks about songs not playing in itunes, but it's the same situation when they won't get added to itunes.

I have a similar question.  I am trying to install 64-bit iTunes on Windows 7 Professional.  I click on the download button and specify some folder in which to save the installation file, iTunes64Setup.exe, and Apple thinks it has downloaded iTunes64Setup.exe, but that file is not where I asked for it to be put (or anywhere on my hard drive, if I search for it).  I have tried downloading to many different places, both with and without requesting news, updates, special offers, etc., and have had no luck at all with anything I tried.  This is extraordinarily frustrating and I have wasted a lot of time.  Please help me get iTunes64Setup.exe onto my computer somehow.  Thank you.
