64 bit Photoshop Elements 7

I can't seem to get confirmation about 64 bit support for Vista/Windows 7.  I am in the process of upgrading to 64 bit from 32 bit.  I have many conflicting stories about Elements 7 working with 64 bit.  I have all of my pictures on it and am worried about this transition.  Any input would be appreciated.

By definition, a 32-bit processor uses 32 bits to refer to the location of each byte of memory. 2^32 = 4.2 billion, which means a memory address that's 32 bits long can only refer to 4.2 billion unique locations (i.e. 4 GB).
In the 32-bit Windows world, each application has its own “virtual” 4GB memory space. (This means that each application functions as if it has a flat 4GB of memory, and the system's memory manager keeps track of memory mapping, which applications are using which memory, page file management, and so on.)
This 4GB space is evenly divided into two parts, with 2GB dedicated for kernel usage, and 2GB left for application usage. Each application gets its own 2GB, but all applications have to share the same 2GB kernel space.
There were memeory space extention technologies (/3GB boot flag and Address Window Extensions {AWE}), but none of the Adobe software is setup to take advantage of these.
So, bottom line is that PSE, so long as it's a 32-bit app, will not ever have more than 2GB of memory space in which to work.  This is true whether you're running on a 32-bit OS, or on a 64-bit OS in 32-bit emulation (which works fine - see my post above).
Note though that a 64-bit OS can provide the full 2GB of space to many 32-bit apps, so long as the system has enough memory.  My 8GB, Windows 7 system can run PSE (both the organizer and the editor) and Premier all maxed out at 2G each, simultaneously.  32-bit Windows would have had to swap to disk furiously to do this, so the performance is night and day different.
A truely 64-bit version of the editor would be a great add to the PSE product line!  Workign with some of the merge and group shot functions on high resolution images definately pushes the envelope on the memory front.

  • 64-bit Photoshop Elements 12 and Premier Elements 12

    Hi All,
I'm new here and I have not had good luck searching the FAQs so, here I am.  I have a new laptop with Windows 8.  I just purchased Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 and Premier Elements 12 and installed them.  My OS  is x64 but the install didn't give me a choice.  Now I notice that they are 32-bit versions installed.  Simple question...Do they come in 640bit?  If so, how do I get it?  64 bit can access more RAM so it would definitely be better.
    Thanx

    Ned,
Thanx so much for pointing me in that direction.  It definately says, " and in 64-bit or 32-bit mode on Windows 7 and Windows 8 & 8.1;" which means it should be able to run in 64- mode but I'm not sure how to make that happen.  I work for a software company and our software has two different versions that are installed.  So do you know if I have the wrong version or do they have some kind of switch that I missed setting on installation?
    Thanx

  • Is Photoshop Elements 10 available as Native 64 Bit?

I messed up the install on a Windows 7 machine of Photoshop Elements 10 by inserting Disk 1 and running through the install.  When I realized my mistake, I uninstalled from the control panel, inserted Disk 2 and reinstalled.  But I see that the install went into the "Program Files X86" directory, which is where 32 bit applications go.  Is there a 64 bit Photoshop Elements 10?  I installed Premiere Elements 10 next and it went into the native 64 bit directory "Program Files".
IF there is a 64 bit Photoshop Elements, could someone tell me how to install it?
    Thanks,
    David

Probably not. The tech specs do not list any 64bit support...

  • Photoshop Elements 10 missing QtCore4.dll

Just installed Photoshop Elements 10 onto a 64 bit machine, made the mistake of using disk one initially, used the Windows control panel to uninstall the 32 bit Photoshop Elements 10 and then installed using disk two.
When I try to run Photoshop Elelements it says it can't start because QtCore4.dll is missing.
    What can I do now?
    George

I have since found several other programs stopped working, so used system restore to take my machine back a couple of days.
Everything now seems to work fine.
Why did the installation of Photoshop 32 bit go ahead on a 64 bit machine, when 32 bit Premiere recognised the difference and refused to install?

The real question is whether Elements 7 will run on 64-bit Windows 7. The answer is apparently Yes.

You'll be able to handle images better if you upgrade the memory to 4 GB, of course.

  • No Audio with Video in Photoshop Elements

Some videos such as MVI do have the audio when I add the video to Photoshop Elements slideshow project.  There is no audio on 99.9% of the videos (AVCHD Videos .MTS files) obtained from my JVC camcorder and added to the same Photoshop Elements slideshow project.  Why one video had sound after being added to Photoshop Elements, I do not know.  However, when I open these same videos from my Windows explorer, they play with sound just fine.
    OS:  Windows 7
    Dell laptop purchased June 2010
    Internet Explorer 64-bit
    Photoshop Elements 8.0.0.0
    OS Version 6.0
    Built-In Memory 3.7GB
    Free Memory 2GB

There is limited support for video in PSE. The PSE/PRE combo gives the best input/output options including export to h.264, mobile devices, mp4 and burning DVD’s.

  • Photoshop Elements 11 no longer connects to Canon ImageClass MF4270 Scanner...

...and it had no problem doing so last week.
    Windows 8 64-bit
    Photoshop Elements 11 updated today
Canon ImageClass MF4270 with updated drivers
I was scanning pics no problem last week then all of a sudden today I can no longer import with WIA support.  At first the error message indicated that Elements couldn't connect at all.  Now after a fresh install of drivers and updates for Adobe & Canon it interminably attempts to establish a connection to no avail.  Did something happen between this week and last?  Thanks much for all replies

  • Can PhotoShop Elements Version 1 be installed on a Windows 7 64-bit computer?

I have been running Photoshop Elements Version 1 on a Windows XP machine.  I have a new Acer desktop pc running Windows 7 64-bit.  I am trying to install this old PhotoShop Elements V1 program from the original installation CD and as soon as I select "US English" and click "Next" I get a brief hourglass as if it is proceeding with the installation, but nothing happens and no message about failure comes back ... it is just as if I never put in the CD.   Is this ancient version of PE even compatible?

Its very old version of PSE, Its not compatible with Win 7.

  • Installing Photoshop Elements 2.0 on Windows 7 64-bit

Yes it's an old version but it will work on Win7 64-bit SP3, and it isn't feature-neutered and UX-impaired like subsequent versions of Photoshop Elements.
Yes copy the Photoshop directory (the one with setup.exe) from install disc to your desktop.  But before doing anything else, do this:
Make sure Internet Explorer is turned off under Control Panel:Programs:Programs and Features:Turn Windows Features On/Off  (use Chrome or FF instead - you know why)
If it's enabled turn off IIS as well.
Voila: Elements 2.0 installs and runs great on Win7 64-bit.  In fact it runs screamin' fast, especially with > = 4GB of memory.

Can I run Elements 2.0 on windows 8.1?

  • Photoshop Elements 10 on 64 bit Windows 7 installtion Problem

I purchased Adobe Photoshop Elements10, Trying to install on 64 bit Window7. I put Disk #1, computer started to process/install it and then asked me to Put disk # 2. I put it. It gave me the option of  ' Trial Version' only NOT for the purchased software. I had to select the 'Trial Version'. It later asked me the Serial number, I entered it, but it keeps saying 'Invalid Serial'. I checked and re-checked, serial number I entered is correct. But I am unable to install the software

Disc 2 contains the installation files for Premiere Elements.  Please see Can't insert disc 2 | Install Photoshop Elements 10 | Windows 7 64 bit - http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/cant-insert-disc-2-install.html for additional information.

  • Photoshop Elements 10 deinstallation, program not in system control (windows 7 64-bit)

    Hello,
maybe I oversaw the right answer, but I was searching for hours now and so I opened this "new" issue.
Several weeks ago I installed a full version of photoshop elements 10 on the 64 bit windows 7 system of my father and it worked fine.
Today my father treid to restart the program but could not find the icon, so i started the program by starting the exe-file in the photoshop folder. but the image processing and the organizer did not work. An error message recommended to download and refresh the application manager. I was not willing to do so so I decided to reinstall. By trying to reinstall the installation told me first to uninstall the existing version but there is no photoshop found in the system control also there's no uninstall file in any photoshop folder, so how to handle.
After downloading and refreshing the application manager now everything seems to run properly but I'm not satisfied becaus I don't understand what's ongoing on the system. Still I cannot find a photoshop installation in the system control. How can I reinstall if another problem occures if I cannot uninstall.
Please help me to gain a little more knowledge to handle those problems in future.
So the primary, cebtral question is: why can I not find a photoshop installation in the system control and how to deinstall photoshop in this case to reinstall it????
Thanks a lot for any hints,
    kind regards,
    Jörg

    Hello,
When you install any version of PSE <say PSE11>, the applications gets installed at (on 64 bit machines)-
    Organizer: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 11 Organizer\PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe
    Editor: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 11\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe
Welcome screen: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 11\Adobe Photoshop Elements 11
Note: On 32 bit machines, applications will be located inside Program Files instead of Program Files (x86).
Also when the installation is successfull, you will see the uninstaller present in Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features.
As per your case, you are unable to uninstall PSE11. For doing so, download the cleaner tool from: http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html.
Follow the guidelines listed on page. Once the clean up is successful, you can install PSE. I would recommend to install PSE using 'Run as Admin' (right click the setup.exe and click 'Run as Administrator'.
Do let me know if you face any issues.
