64 bit support.

So I'm building a new system soon and since I've heard so much about  how great Arch is I'm going to give it a proper try. I tried it once before, got X up and running, desktop etc, but just gave up. since Ubuntu insist on using pulse audio and generally being shit, (well that's not true, it's ok, bit i am looking for more) i have been looking for an alternative to draw me away.
so my question is, what is the 64bit support like with Arch? I mean in terms of packages, are many written for 64 bit platforms? I wouldn't want to limit my scope for software by opting for 64bit, but I don't really have a choice considering..
I know in the Ubuntu repos there was a library that provided 32bit support on 64bit platforms, does arch have a similar package in it's repos? is it even practical?
Thank you.

There is practically NO reason not to use 64bit, if your CPU supports it.*
*Only exceptions being if you don't like using 32bit-libs for Google Earth or Adobe Acrobat.  Those are really the only apps that are not available natively for 64bit.

  • "Invalid Binary" error on app. Apple's reason is "Missing 64-bit support" due to changes from Feb 1st 2015

    Hello
Can anyone help me with an "Invalid Binary" error on my app.
    Apple's response is:
    Dear developer,
We have discovered one or more issues with your recent submission for "DPS Notes". To process your submission, the following issues must be corrected:
Missing 64-bit support - Beginning on February 1, 2015 new iOS apps submitted to the App Store must include 64-bit support and be built with the iOS 8 SDK. Beginning June 1, 2015 app updates will also need to follow the same requirements. To enable 64-bit in your project, we recommend using the default Xcode build setting of “Standard architectures” to build a single binary with both 32-bit and 64-bit code.
Once these issues have been corrected, use Xcode or Application Loader to upload a new binary to iTunes Connect. Choose the new binary on the app’s Details page in My Apps on iTunes Connect, and click Submit for Review.
    Regards,
    The App Store team
Can someone from the Adobe DPS team let me know how I can recreate the .ipa file so that it will meet Apple's requirements.
They seem to have moved the goalposts since I created the original .ipa file in December. I thought I'd submitted it, just went back through iTunes Connect to check info as I hadn't heard anything from them, then hit this brick wall. Any help offered would be much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Rebecca

    Hi
I've Updated App Builder, gone back to the DPS App Builder portal, regenerated new zip and ipa files and downloaded them.
I clicked the Application Loader 3.0 link, downloaded the latest Appication Version, clicked on the "Deliver your App" button, and submitted the newly built App that was built using 32.4.2 version. (All the app icons were listed as "stored on server" so I presume they are all ok). The .zip file appeared to 'deliver' to Apple successfully. I've tried to resubmit it but get ta "Redundant Binary Upload. There already exists a binary upload with build version..." error message, so presume the orginal binary upload was successful. I have no idea how I can get this app from the "prepare for submission", to "in review". The last time I thought I'd submitted this app I got as far as the "waiting for review" status, and no further.
At the moment I don't have a"+" button in the Build section - as mentioned on page 66 of Adobe's Step_by_step_guide_to_dps_se.pdf.
So I can't add the new .zip file to the iTunes Connect > My Apps portal in the Build section of the Versions tab.
I have put a support email into Apple, but don't expect a reply any day soon.
The problem with starting all the way back through the App wizard is that I really want to use all the same App Name, Bundle ID, and details etc.
Do you mean, going back to the Folio Producer Panel, and building a whole new App?
This process certainly isn't for the faint-hearted!

  • Sun Cluster 3.1 64 bit support  for Solaris 10

    Hi:
I have some questions when migrate SC 3.1 from solaris 9 to solaris 10.
    1) Does Clutster 3.1 for solaris 10 support 64 bit?
I have develop own resource type which is compiled with 64 bit mode, while cluster admin program is 32 bit based. E.g. /usr/cluster/bin/scrgadm
Will that cause any problem? For instance: 32 bit lib and 64 bit lib have the same name libscha.so will be loaded by 32 bit scrgadm and 64 bit my own developped resource type program.
    2) Can I download a Cluster 3.1 install-pkg for solaris 10, 64 bit supported., which means all admin files like scrgadm are 64 bit based.
Or only ONE Cluster 3.1 version for solaris 10 is deliveried by SUN?
    Thanks in advance!
    BRs
    //rdctahu

    Hi,
    Comments on your 2 questions:
    1) Yes. IIRC, SC31 for S10 actually supports ONLY 64 bit. To be clear, this means
Solaris has to be booted in 64 bit mode, but 32 bit applications would run just
    fine.
As for your RT being 64 bit, and scrgadm being 32 bit, no problem.
    2) See (1). You are good.
    Go for it.
    HTH,

  • Windows 7,  64 bit support to Crystal Reports XI R2 SP5

Will the Windows 7,  64 bit support to Crystal Reports XI R2 SP5  be added?
Moving to CR 12 is the only solutions?
    What are the options?
    regards,
    Srini

    Hi Srini,
No, XI R2 is getting close to legacy mode so no new OS platforms will be added unless some large Partner requests it. Cr 12 is the only option, R2 will likely anyways. It wont be officially supported but it should work.
    Thank you

  • Why doesn't elements 12 have 64 bit support for PC users?

Why doesn't elements 12 have 64 bit support for PC users? Most PC's these days are shipped with far more than 2GB of RAM. This move seems very limiting to those with high demands for RAM. Image sizes are only getting larger meaning more RAM needed for adjustments and editing. I have been putting off buying elements 11 waiting to see if 12 had 64 bit support and I am very disappointed to find it doesn't. I can't see myself buying 12 unless a 64 bit for PC is launched soon.

    Update? It's a major release, ain't it?
Mac got the 64-bit. Why? From Pete Green's announcement:
A handful of features from previous versions are not available in Photoshop Elements 12 due to new product support for 64-bit systems.
But, of course, Windows users have no such need...

  • Still no Vista 64 bit support?

I have been reading the forums with a rapidly sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach. After having a TX for only a year, I now have to find another product. I just bought a new puter, and it's running Vista 64 bit. I have had Palms for years, but since they seemingly have no plans to release the software for Vista 64 bit, even though pretty soon that's what everyone will have, my TX is useless to me. It seems that it's been more than a year since they said they were "working" on it, but I am thinking that was only the 32 bit version.
It's a shame, I really liked my Palm.

If you have read the forums, then you are also aware of the Bluetooth Solution which is available.
Because there really isn't anything more to add to the discussion (other than hoping maybe the new Palm OS under development will have 64 bit support), we'll close this thread.

  • When can we have Product Store ANE with 64 Bit Support

    Hi,
We are using Product Store ANE from Gaming SDK 1.4 . With the medatory  requirement of 64-bit support by Apple we are unable to submit our apps. Is it possible either to get the source code or a 64-bit ANE.
    Thanks
    Rahul

I created a hello-world application with only the productStore.ane and exported a release build, it failed again.
Then i unchecked the flag Hide-ANE-Library-Symbols and it was successful.
    Successful package :
Unfortunately i cannot use this option in the main app as a bunch of other ANEs will start failing.
Taking a very wild guess as this option was added from AIR 3.4 the current one targeting 3.1 might have something to do with it.
Anton Azarov did you try with the Hide-ANE-Library-Symbols checked ?
Abhinav Dhandh can you check if you guys can reproduce this and help me out.
    Thanks

  • Can I run Logic 9 with 32 bit support alongside Logic X on the same Mavericks computer?

    Hello friends,
I am upgrading from Snow Leopard and Logic 8 to Mavericks and Logic X.  It's my understanding that Logic 8 doesn't play nice with Mavericks, but I heard that the latest version of Logic 9 does.  I never used Logic 9 before, but it is my understanding that you could run Logic 9 in 32-bit mode and it should be compatible with all Logic 8 projects.  Is this true on Mavericks?  I am on the verge of setting up multiple partitions, one for Logic 8 on 10.6 and the other for Logic X on 10.9, but if I could launch logic 9 with 32 bit support on mavericks when I needed access to my 32 bit reliant projects, that would certainly be better!
Would both versions of Logic work on the same system together in the way that as I hope?  Obviously, I wouldn't need them both open at the same time, but I didn't know if one would work correctly after installing the other, etc.
Thanks very much!  Upgrading can be a hassle with consideration to legacy projects!   This would just be one step for me; it's a whole other question as to whether or not I could get the fxpansion vst wrapper working in Logic 9 on mavericks (surprisingly, it seemed to work with Logic 8 on mavericks, but the black curtain of Logic 8 almost makes it unusable).
    Thanks very much!

Thanks everyone!   I was afraid that I was going to have as much trouble as I did migrating from Logic 4 to Logic 7 (yeesh, what a mess that was).
Blueberry, are you warning about literally running both Logic 8 and Logic X simultaneously?   Because I don't imagine I would do that.  Could their be adverse consequences of merely having both installed?
It is my hope that I can gracefully migrate away from Logic 8/9 altogether, but the OCD in me needs to have adequate access to legacy projects in a pinch.
    Thanks again!

Does anyone know when 64 bit support will be written for the Media Manager.  I am currently using a work around by setting my phone as an external drive and Windows Media Manager to sync my music, but I would like to use a more intergrated piece of software so that I don't have to do so many different things to customize my Droid X.

  • CS5 and 64 bits support: what implications?

    Hi folks,
I would like to ask the question like this: does the 64 bits support mean i will have to purchase 64 bits machines for my CS5 copy?
    Thank you for your helps.

Yes, you will need to have a 64-bit operating system and a 64-bit processor.
For Mac OS, Leopard (10.5) and Snow Leopard (10.6) are already capable of running 64-bit applications, and any Macintosh sold in the last few years can run 64-bit software.
For Windows, you need 64-bit Windows 7 or 64-bit Windows Vista.

  • 10-bit Support from GeForce Card?

I've had Photoshop CC 2014 on my system for a while, and I was surprised to see an option for 30-bit color in the preferences. I have a GeForce GTX 970, and I thought 10-bit color was reserved for those with Quadro/FirePro cards. I'm on Windows 8.1 Pro with a 10-bit 2K BenQ CAD/CAM monitor connected with DP. With this option enabled, am I actually getting 10-bit color, or is it just ignoring that preference?
    Thanks!
    Mike

Don't pop the champagne right away. The pearly gate to 10-bit heaven is still not opening.
That checkbox just means Photoshop will deliver on its end, but the rest of the chain needs to be there as well. I can check that box too, but I know I don't have the video card for it although everything else is ready.
Quadro / FirePro still applies. There were rumors of the "high-end" Radeons getting 10-bit support, but that was based on a beta driver and never came to anything AFAIK.
Even when it all supposedly works, it's not all it's cranked up to be: https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1295887  (from post 17 and down). With a good monitor/calibration system banding is a non-issue anyway.

  • Standard version left behind on 64-bit support

How come 64-bit support is only available for the enterprise
    version?
I shelled out a lot of money for various versions of Cold
Fusion standard but now I feel ripped off.
64-bit support has been slow to come on CF and is not even
available unless you're an enterprise customer.
    What gives?

The following still run as 32-bit in the enterprise edition:
DataDirect Drivers, Verity Search functionality, and
    ColdFusion .Net integration.
With that said they should have included the 32-bit version
of any 3rd-party driver where the cost is an issue, Adobe would
explained why and we would understand. Instead they chose a path
    where they seem greedy.

  • Mavericks 32-bit support files?

I got a little ambitious and removed all of the 32-bit support files using a handy utility called Monolingual.
Turns out I need them to run Adobe Illustrator 5.1 and InDesign 5.5. I'm hoping I can use Time Machine to retrive the files I deleted... where can I find them in the System folder?

First, delete "Monolingual" and never install anything like it again. Then see below.
If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.9 ("Mavericks"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.
