64 bit to 32 bit Photoshop

I got a Wacom Cintiq Companion 2 (Windows 8 OS) and installed Photoshop CC onto it. I've had some lag issues while working in Photoshop, and found out that its because of the 64bit version of PS. I hear that 32bit version of PS runs smoother, is there a way to downgrade from 64bit to 32bit Photoshop? Please help.
Thanks!

Hi Ivan
I have a CC2 Companion, and it runs Photoshop 64bit OK.  Not great, but OK.  Is it specifically the lag issues?  One thing I was advised to do was turn off Windows Ink in Wacom Preferences.  I'll paste the post from the Wacom tech, but I'll tell you now that it made no difference.
On your 1st thread: I see that you're speaking about 'obvious' lags and general workflows functions are making the tablet difficult to use, all these with PS CC2014.
For such issues with Photoshop CC 2014:
1. Uncheck ‘Use Windows Ink’ in the tablet driver (Wacom Tablet Properties> Mapping> uncheck ' Use Windows Ink')
2. Create a file that contains instructions to revert to the WinTab functionality.
How to create the file and where to put it:
a. Create a text file in a text editor such as Notepad.
Type in the following lines:
# Use WinTab
UseSystemStylus 0
b. Save the file as a plain text file named PSUserConfig.txt .
c. put (copy) the file into the Photoshop settings folder: C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2014\Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 Settings\
Restart your Photoshop CC 2014, check the pen pressure/ overall performance.
Have you tried your CC2 connected to a desktop system?  That's where I am having serious issues.  Brush lag is just about livable with, but things like pan and rotate canvas are so bad as to make it unusable.  What model do you have?

    Hi Hardy Tasso,
Are you seeing this problem since first launch of PSE13 after installation or recently?
    Please try:
Keep Ctrl + Alt + Shift keys pressed while launching PSE13 Editor and click OK on the dialog that comes next.

  • Photoshop Elements 32-bit to 64-bit

I just purchased Photoshop Elements for windows 7 32-bit but I need 64 bit. Am I able to convert from one to the other?

    Hi,
Which version of PSE you have?
PSE13 comes in both 32-bit and 64-bit while PSE12 and older versions were 32-bit.
If you are on a 64 bit machine, you would need 64-bit version of PSE13 while on 32-bit machines, 32-bit PSE13 would be required.
    Thanks

I may have just solved my own problem. Right after posting this I googled bezel lightroom and found this: Flickr: Discussing The word 'bezel' appears in the taskbar. in Adobe Lightroom
I changed the setting in the view menu and now everything appears to be working fine. I cannot explain why it stopped working before because I hadn't made any previous changes to the view options.
Still am curious about the memory usage, though.

  • Lightroom Linked to Photoshop CS5 32 Bit not 64 Bit

    Hello.
On my computer I have Lightroom 3.6 64-bit, Photoshop CS5 32-bit and 64-bit. When I'm in LR and click to edit in Photoshop, LR brings up the 32-bit version rather than the 64-bit version. What can I do to fix this?
    Thanks,
    Chris

    Chris,
As a workaround, you could bring up Photoshop 64-bit manually and leave it running. I think that when you do an Edit in Photoshop, LR will send the file to that one.

  • Mode Change 32 bit to 16 bit

Mode Change 32 bit to 16 bit seems to be a bug.
When changing from 32 bit to 16 bit, CS5 opens an HDR sscreen and doesn't allow the change.

    Thank you!

That's normal as 32bit contains way more colors than 16/8 bit so it opens up the HDR Toning dialog so that you can tell Photoshop how you want it to handle all those colors. The change to 16bit happens after you click on OK in that dialog.

  • CS4 stopped working in Vista 64 (both 32 bit and 64 bit)

Photoshop CS4, both 32 bit and 64 bit have been working great until after the Adobe update process loaded 11.0.1. When I try to start either the 32 bit or the 64 bit version of CS 4, I get the opening screen and then an error message that says, ..."Photoshop CS4 stopped working", and it closes the application.  CS 3 still works fine.  CS4 Bridge works fine.  I have made no changes to PS CS4. Any ideas?

In the event of a situation where the application is unavailable for de-activation, you need to install the program again and, when prompted for activation, call the special (not customer support) number on the screen.
I have never had to try this, but that information has been posted several times.

  • 64 bits or 32 bits

    Good evening
On my desktop I have the two 64-bit versions and 32 bit Adobe Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator.
Could you tell me the advantages and disadvantages between these two versions.
    Thanking you
    Ulysses

To give you the 10,000 ft view of the advantages and disadvantages of the 32-bit versus the 64-bit versions of these products …
The real difference between the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of these products is the ability to use much larger address spaces with the 64-bit version. Generally speaking, for most documents and images, you will absolutely not see any performance advantage with the 64-bit versions of the applications (and in fact, there could be a very minor but measurable performance degradation with 64-bit). The advantage of the 64-bit versions is that they can directly access orders of magnitude larger virtual memory space. Typical 32-bit applications can only access a 2 GB virtual memory space, regardless of how much physical memory you have installed on your computer. This may sound quite ample, but when you are dealing with very long and/or very graphically-rich InDesign documents, for example, that 2GB memory is chopped up into temporary document storage, screen buffers, placed imagery temporary storage, and work spaces for a myriad of internal functions including layout, color management, content placement, PDF (and DPS and other format) export, printing, etc. Prior to InDesign 9, it was not uncommon to need to regularly exit InDesign and restart the program to reclaim these workspaces to avoid out of memory messages – these were not messages about being out of physical memory, but rather virtual memory. With the new 64-bit version of InDesign, these issues are of the past. Illustrator documents may be complex, but with rare exception contain only one artboard and typically don't have the same virtual memory issues. On the other hand, if you are a user that runs Photoshop with large number of layered, large, high resolution images open, the additional address space of the 64-bit version may be necessary for you as well.
Disadvantages of 64-bit are relatively few. If you use plug-ins for which there are not yet or might never be 64-bit versions, you might be stuck using the 32-bit versions for the time being. An example of this under Windows would be availability of a TWAIN scanner plug-in for Photoshop 64-bit – it doesn't exist.
All this being said, unless you have plug-in compatiblity issues, the 64-bit versions of Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign are mature and very stable and thus recommended. (Personally, I've hidden the Windows Start Menu items for both 32-bit Illustrator and 32-bit InDesign and have suffered no problems.)
Be aware that going forward, the 32-bit versions of these applications will eventually be dropped.

  • Why 32-bit and 64-bit versions coexist?

    Hello
I am using 64-bit windows 7 machine and have master collection CS5.
When I install CS5, I notice both 32-bit and 64-bit versions are check. If I install 64-bit PS, would the 32-bit program be useful at all?

TWAIN (for scanning) is probably the main 32 bit only plugin which affects most people

  • Is my Adobe CC for photographers license still valid if I change from Windows 32 bit to 64 bit?

I've bought a license for Adobe CC for photographers (costs 10$ a month), and now going to upgrading my operating system from Windows 7 32 bit to 64 bit. I know that there is a 64 bit version for Photoshop, don't know about Bridge. So, is my license still valid if I upgrade, or do I have to buy a new CC program for photographers for the 64 bit version of Photoshop??
    TIA

    Good to know information :
You can install and activate Creative Cloud subscription Apps on 2 computers. (Either on Mac or Windows  as per your choice) .
Either it may be 32 bit or 64 bit , it does not matters, the subscription will be counted based of number of activation done as per Machine ID's.
Before , you upgrade the computer to 64 bit, better to Sign out from Creative Cloud desktop application.
If the Machine ID changes just in case , it will be counted as 2'nd activation.
Sign in, Sign out | Creative Cloud desktop app
Even though, if  you had exceeded Maximum activation limit(Already activated on 2 computers) , still you can reset the activation count to Zero, so that you can again activate CC subscription on any of 2 computers as per your choice.

  • CS5 64 bit and 32 bit versions

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I didn't find anything when I searched.
I've just bought a new 64 bit PC and intend to upgrade from CS3 to CS5. However, my laptop is 32 bit. My question is, does CS5 come with both 64 bit and 32 bit on the same disk?
    Thanks for any help.

Yes.  The default for a 64 bit system is for Photoshop to install both 32 and 64 bit software, and you want both so as to maintain compatibility with old plug-ins.

  • How do you switch between 64 bit and 32 bit? (Win 7)

I have searched here, Adobe Support, read the User Manual, and can not find any information on how one changes from 64 bit to 32 bit.  I am trying to create Time Lapse sequences and CS 5 tells me I have to be in 32 bit mode.  How do I get there? I am running an HP Pavilion dv7t-3300 i7 QuadCore with 4gb RAM and Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.

Similar concern here. No 64 bit version. I purchased the Photoshop CS5 downloadable upgrade. I  have installed the program but only see the 32 bit version. Image  / Mode shows 8, 16 and 32 bit versions and no 64 bit.
Start Programs offers only a single version of Photoshop which based on the splash screen is 32 bits. Did I miss something during the install?

  • Merge to HDR Pro is resulting in a different image, and the 8 bit and 16 - bit sliders don't preview

In Cs6 whenever I touched any of the sliders the image in the preview panel changed quite nicely, now when I start the HDR Pro it comes up with a black image in the preview panel. Thats easy to fix though I switch from 16 bit or 8 bit to 32 bit the preview shows up and I can click on the 16 or 8 bit modes and it shows a preview. Then when I adjust any of the sliders nothing happens. I can play with the sliders as much as I want nothing happens. I have been using the 32 bit mode in cunjunction with the 'tone in ACR' setting which gives great results, but now I wanted to play with the scott5 preset. If I click ok it creates the image beautifully. So not only won't it preview but my image is completely different to what is in the preview panel.

I am looking forward to an anwer concerning the HDR preview-result-difference as well... Since some posts suggest to check out the color profile of the input files, i did so: they are both sRGB. And the immense change of saturation and brightness (in other examples even worse than below)  couldn't be explained by a different profile anyway, IMHO.
    working parameters:
    Adobe Brigde CS6 (Tools/Photoshop/HDR PRO)
    Adobe Photoshop CS6
    sRGB both input and output...
