64 bit Ubuntu 10.10 FF 3.6, top menu does NOT function nor does mouse right-click, all other applications O.K.

Running 64 bit Ubuntu 10.10 upgraded from 10.04
Running latest 3.x.x Firefox
On rebooting this morning the top menu does not function at all, nor does mouse right-click.
Did 'complete removal' in Synaptic and reinstall to no avail.
Thunderbird and Google Chrome functioning fine.

Fixed!
open a new instance of Firefox (ctrl-N). You will notice all is working now. Close the old instance, so whatever Firefox remembers as your last instance is the new, good one. Worked for me. This problem seems to have been around a while already, this fix dates from November 2010...

Or you can actived the right button on your magic mouse and click on they icon in the dock. then you select "stop" and it's out of your dock.

How to put a JFrame on the top of all other applications

when some message is received, I want to put an existing JFrame on the top of all other applications. So that the user knows that some message has arrived.
I tried toFront(), but it blinks the JFrame on the taskbar never comes on the top of other application.
Any ideas.

On Windows 98 the toFront() method works, but maybe not exactly how you expected.
There seems to be a delay of about 20 seconds.
If your frame has not been active within the last twenty seconds then the frame is displayed when the toFront() is used.
If the frame has been active within the last 20 seconds then the icon will flash.
I believe this behaviour is to prevent frames from poping up all the time. Here is a simple program that shows this behaviour:

How can I get the scroll bar to go to the top or bottom of the page with a right click command?

When I right click on the scroll bar nothing happens. I have to spin the mouse wheel repeatedly to get to the top or bottom of the page. I just switched from explorer. I'm used to being able to do this. It's much less time consuming and frustrating. I hope someone can help. Thanks.

You can hold down the Shift key and left-click the scroll bar to go to that position.
If you set the Boolean pref middlemouse.scrollbarPosition to "true" (default on Linux) on the about:config page then you can middle-click the scroll bar to go to that position.

a friend borrowed my laptop and when it got back to me, the top menu bar is invisible whenever i'm browsing or opening application. it only appears if i move my mouse over to the top... i want it to be permanently visible all the time so i don't have to move my mouse over all the time. Your friend must have installed some third-party hack to make that happen.
There appears to be a lot of Google hits on the subject.

I closed the address, search and other bars, ..all I have showing up top is the tabs bar, and right clicking anywhere up top does not give me the option of reopening these other bars. Help!

If you press Ctrl+n to open a new window, does it have all the menus and toolbars?
If you restart Firefox, does the display return to normal?
If those don't work, you could try Firefox's Safe Mode. This will let you temporarily disable add-ons to work around any problem there.
You might want to back up Firefox before using Safe Mode. For help with that, see [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information].
Next, try starting Firefox in Firefox
[http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode Safe Mode]. Be careful not to "reset" anything permanently if you didn't back up.

Hi Thank you, the apple mobile service links did not work, i had tried them all. however that same link with the previous versions worked. I had to download the one below and I can at least use itunes.

File, edit, etc options no longer at the top of the screen since upgrade. My right-click doesn't work so I need the File, Edit options. How can I bring them back?

The menu toolbar is hidden at default in Vista. You can use F11 to show it temporarily. Please also read this article:

Laptop Touchscreen does not function Windows 7 64 bit

I have owned several HP laptops over the years yet find HP's lack of support very troubling.
I purchased this laptop brand new in April 2014 and when I called HP Support the tech told me the warranty is expired!
I am currently very frustrated with the touchscreen and the outcome of this issue will make or break my future HP Purchases so I hope this can be resolved without great frustration.
I own an HP Pavilion Touch 14 Notebook PC Model #14-n028La and it came preinstalled with Windows 8. LIke most of the world I hate Windows 8 so I installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit. Everything worked without an issue EXCEPT for the Touchscreen. At the time there was a help forum article that explained what the issue was and which drivers were needed to resolve the Touchscreen issue and it worked perfectly. I can no longer find that HP Help Article and have recently re-installed Windows 7 64 bit. I have once again lost all Touch Screen functionality.
I need to know how to make the touchscreen work in Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit.

Try quitting the iTunes application, then pulling the com.apple.iTunes.plist file from ~Library/Prefernces/, to get to that file, click Finder > Go > hold Option + click Library > Preferences.

One of the Windows 7 features is the pop up box icon at the bottom toolbar which displays which pages are open when scrolling over it. After installing Firefox 4 this function does not work anymore, instead it was replaced by Firefox tabs above.

I believe you are talking about taskbar previews. To enable them you need to change a hidden preference.

Crystal Reports 2008 is the only version that is tested / certified and supported on Windows 7.
Another thing that I noticed from your post - Crystal Reports XI does not work with VS.NET 2008 - are you sure that is the version you are using? Which versions of our .NET assemblies do you have in your project?

My menu bar is missing but when I right click in the top section and see all of the toolbars the menu bar has a check by it but does not appear. Hitting alt does not make it appear either...any ideas?
