64 Bit Vista Driver for PCI Simple Communications Controller

I installed vista 64 and have everything working well, I think.  Only problem is this driver.  I assume it is the modem.  But I cannot find a 64 bit driver and doing the search online doesn't work.  Any ideas?
BTW it is a k100 57061330 machine

sm bus controller
other than that it's working quite well.

  • 64-bit Vista Drivers for PCI Serial device

I've just got an T500 and put Vista 64-bit on it.  I've found (I think) all the drivers for it that it needs, except that there are 2 drivers in the Device Manager that show as not installed/needing update they are:
    Under Other Devices
     - PCI Serial Port
     - PCI Simple Communications Controller
Anyone know what divers I should get to get these loaded properly or what devices/capabilities I am loosing because there are no drivers?
    Thanks,
    George

    George, welcome to the forum,
have you tried using ThinkVantage System Update to see if it can automatically find the drivers for you?
    Hope this helps

  • After Upgrade (8.6.1), computer wants PCI Simple Communication Controller

After an 8.5.1 > 8.6.1 upgrade, the computer wants to install a "PCI Simple Communication Controller", but can't find anything to install. The PCI card (6221) and all ancillary stuff seem to works fine.
This issue has shown up a few times on the forum, but the posts are old. Has there been an official bit of advice published about this?
    thanks
    Richard

    Hi Broken Arrow,
The PCI Simple Communications Controller is a generic name given by Windows to PCI boards installed in a PC when the drivers for the device are not installed.  Try following the steps below to determine what this device might be:
From Device Manager, find the PCI Simple Communications Controller entry.  Right-click on it and select Properties
Go to the Details tab.  You should have an entry that looks something like the following: PCI\VEN_1093&DEV_70B8&SUBSYS_00000000&REV_00\4&5855BE9&0&10F0
VEN means vendor, and DEV means device.  In my case, I have a VEN of 1093 and a DEV of 70B8
Once you have these two numbers, you can look up the device on www.pcidatabase.com
In my case, I receive the following result since my device is a Multifunction DAQ from National Instruments:
I suspect your device may be something else, such as an Ethernet Controller or a PCI modem.  If the product is indeed National Instruments hardware and you need any help finding the right drivers don't hesitate to post back.  If it is another device and you need help finding the right driver I would contact the vendor for assistance.

  • Windows 7 driver for PCI Simple Controller

I installed the Lenovo Windows 7 Professional upgrade on my R400 (7443-CTO) from Windows XP Professional.  The ThinkVantage tools repeatedly shows I need a driver for the "PCI Simple Controller".  I have been unable to find that driver on the Lenovo support site.  Any assistance to help resolve this issue would be appreciated.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

To create shortcuts or folders under the startmenu in Win7 you can rightclick "All Programs" under the startmenu. Then you can choose "Open" or "Open all users". If you choose "Open" you will be able to change the startmenu for the current user account only and when you select "Open all users" you can change the startmenu for all user accounts on the computer. The startmenu in Windows is basically just folders and shortcuts stored in a folder on your computer. The startmenu for all users are stored under "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu" and for the current user under "C:\Users\<useraccount>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu"
So let's say you want the "Thinkvantage" folder under the Windows startmenu where it should normally be after installing Lenovo toolbox and then the shortcut for Lenovo Toolbox under that folder. Then you can rightclick "All Programs" under the startmenu and select "Open all users" from the context menu. You should then see a explorer windows with the folder "Programs". If you open the "Programs" folder you will see the same contents as you see under the "startmenu -> All Programs". Since this is the area for the common startmenu for all user accounts there might be some more entries under the startmenu compared to what you see in this windows. By selecting "Open" instead of "Open all users" as explained above you should find the rest. So when you rightclicked, selected "open all users" and then doublecliked on "Programs" then you can rightclick somewhere in that window and choose "New -> Folder" from the context menu. Then you can give the folder the name "Thinkvantage". Then open the "Thinkvantage" folder and create a shortcut for Lenovo Toolbox. After you have done these steps you should find the Thinkvantage folder under "All Programs" and then the shortcut for Lenovo Toolbox under the Thinkvantage folder. This is how you can easily change the startmenu in Windows to add, remove or change entries under "All Programs".
Normally after installing Lenovo Toolbox it should be under "All Programs -> Thinkvantage" and not sure why that is not the case for you, but then you can add it manually like explained above. When i installed Lenovo Toolbox a shortcut and the Thinkvatage folder was created under "All Programs" during the installation. Also if you install the "System interface driver" and "Hotkey feature set" you can start Lenovo Toolbox by pressing the blue thinkvantage button on your computer. Unless you already installed "System Update 4.0" i would recommend to do so. System Update will find the drivers and software from Lenovo for your computer and give you a list where you can select those you want to download and install. System update will then download and install the drivers and software you selected and you don't have to download and install each one of them manually one by one. It will save you a lot of time. You can find system update for Windows 7 using the link below.

User Access Control is a new feature of Windows that started with Windows Vista so therefore you won't find it in XP. Only Vista and Windows 7 got UAC.
Yes it's a bit late over here I'm sure i will enjoy the weekend and hope you will do the same.

  • PCI simple communication controller driver

I have a 1156se, I had to install new windows and all the drivers are gone. I downloaded the network drivers you have here but still the adaptor cannot connect to the internet through wireless. It lacks all the PCI drivers. Where I can find them? Thanks

Hello , Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, both from other users, HP experts and other support personnel. I came across your post about the PCI drivers, and wanted to assist you! I understand that you installed a new Operating System.  Did you install Windows 7, or did you upgrade from Windows 7 to a different Operating System?  I recommend using the Recovery Manager to restore the drivers.  You can review these documents to help you, if needed:HP PCs - Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 7)HP PCs - Troubleshooting your wireless network and Internet connection (Windows 7) You can also have a look at the following resource:PCI Device Drivers Download (Not a HP supported Web site). Please let me know if this information was helpful by clicking the thumbs up below.
