64-bit Vista - "No supported disc burners found"

Hi,
I'm running Windows Vista 64-bit on an HP Pavilion dv9000t laptop. The model DVD-R/W drive I have is "Matshita DVD-RAM UJ-850S".
I'm unable to burn songs to CDs to make an audio CD. Under "Advanced in the preferences dialog, on the "Burning" tab, I see "No supported disc burners found".
I'm able to burn data CDs outside of iTunes. I also confirmed that I can burn audio CDs using Windows Media Player. I'm also able to import songs from audio CDs into iTunes.
Here are the results of the iTunes Diagnostics tool:

If you have multiple drives on the same IDE or SCSI bus, these drives may interfere with each other.
Some computers need an update to the ATA or IDE bus driver, or Intel chipset. If iTunes has problems recognizing CDs or hanging or crashing while importing or burning CDs, check the support site for the manufacturer of your computer or motherboard.
Failed while scanning for CD / DVD drives, error 2355.
Virtual drives can sometimes interfere with reading and writing CDs in iTunes. If this is a virtual drive and you are having problems with other drives, try uninstalling the virtual CD application.

Can anyone offer any help?
Thanks!

These Instructions will help you get iTunes working on a 64 bit OS.
Go to http://www.gearsoftware.com/support/drivers.cfm and download the newest drivers for Your Operating System (Driver installer for AMD64 and Intel EM64T processors. It’s the 2nd on the page).
Follow these instructions to uninstall the old Drivers. http://www.gearsoftware.com/wiki/index.php?title=DRIVERS:Windows_-_Updating%2C_removing%2C_64_bit_versions%2C_etc#Manual_Removal_.E2.80.9 364-bit
After the old drivers are removed run the installer for the new drivers.
After the drivers are installed reboot your computer.
Next Install iTunes.
After iTunes is installed DO NOT START IT UP.
Download this folder http://stahlhammer89.com/apple/CD_Configuration.zip
Unzip the file and Place the CD Configuration Folder into your C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes Directory
Congratulations, your iTunes installation should run properly now.

  • No Supported Disc Burners Found

Recently my iTunes started having this issue by telling me "No supported disc burners found". Mind you, The last time I've burned a disc was in early december. I'm not sure why it's not working since I don't burn discs very often. A solution would be greatly appreciated.

if you uninstall and reinstall iTunes you won't lose the music because the media folder is in an area that is totally seperate from the program and iTunes doesn't have a protocol to delete the media folder unless you specifically tell it to delete the media folder
so no worries just uninstall and see if it works

  • I can't burn a playlist to a disc, it comes up with no supported disc burners found, any ideas, i can't burn a playlist to a disc, it comes up with no supported disc burners found, any ideas

i can't burn a playlist to a disc from itunes, it comes up with no supported disc burners found, any ideas?

    Additional information:
-also ran "Repair" with new download of iTunes
-am using the same spindle of CDs that worked perfectly a month ago.  Tried another brand also to be safe.  None worked.
-ran CD/DVD diagnostics within iTunes with Apple Care - no issues apparent
-also tried write-speed 20X on advice of Apple Care (don't know why they thought 20X would be the magic number after the other 3 I tried didn't work)
-tried running itunes in another user account on the computer - same problem, same error code
-Apple suggested it was a copyright issue.  I can't even burn music that I created/recorded myself, so that doesn't make sense.
-They thought maybe Quicktime wasn't installed properly, so we checked a film in Windows Media - it played, meaning Quicktime was fine apparently.
    Solution:
Unclicked CD text option & Sound Check, ran burn from the File drop down menu (max speed) on a Philips CD-R and it worked!  Had been right clicking the playlist name and selecting Burn option from there.  That being said, it did not work on 2 other brands prior, with same settings.  Not sure why.  Just happy it's working again. Is it a brand issue?

  • Windows XP: Disc Burner or Software Not Found/No Supported Disc Burners

I am running Windows XP SP2 with all the latest updates on a Sony VAIO laptop. I recently upgrade to iTunes 7.3.1 and discovered that I was unable to burn audio CDs. iTunes does not recognize the CD burner in my laptop. I have other CD burning software (Sonic), and have successfully burned both an audio CD and a data CD using the software.
When I insert an audio CD, iTunes is able to recognize it and offers to import it into my library.
I searched the forums and used some suggestions from other users to revert back to the 7.2 and 7.1.1 software. The burner is still not recognized. I've even gone through the regedit exercise, removing anything related to iTunes, short of the files stored under My Music\iTunes.
I have an OEM desktop computer (Windows XP) that is also having the same problem (no disc burner found). The desktop is also able to insert an audio CD and have iTunes recognize it and offer to import it.
I would appreciate any help anyone can provide on this.

Gabrix is correct. It turned out the issue was with Daemon tools - which I had uninstalled, but which leaves nasty little drivers on your system.
Thanks for to some help from friends, I found this link: http://forums.techguy.org/multimedia/582230-problem-disc-burner-software-not.htm l which points both how to completely uninstall Daemon and how to update Daemon if you wish to keep it on your system.
I hope this helps. It's sure better than having my system reboot every time I try to run the diagnostics check.

  • Vista Home installer disc not found after partitioning

I don't get an error message but the "installer disc could not be found" message comes up every time I click on Start Installation in Boot Camp and the disk ejects. I repartitioned and am up to date on 10.5.1. I tried setting the partition from 32 to 64 with a 32 bit new Vista Home Premium one disc . I just got the iMac and haven't ever run boot camp before.
    Next steps?
    Thanks,
    Steve

Actually, Windows Anytime Upgrade is a mechanism built in all Vista editions except Ultimate (where it works slightly differently). It allows you to upconvert your present flavor of Windows into one of the upper-tier editions for a fee.
If you have Home Basic, Anytime Upgrade will let you go to Home Premium or Ultimate (you can do this in one jump, or two if you go to Premium first). Business users can only jump to Ultimate.
If you already have Ultimate, you can't go further, HOWEVER, you are entitled to two Home Premium upgrade licenses for other machines (which, incidentally, can be used on Macs provided the Macs are already running XP Home)
The 32/64 question gets decided only at the time of your original Vista purchase. Home users have to trade up to 64-bit (via mail-in) if they want it. Business and Ultimate users get the 64-bit version in the box. System builders can pick any single flavor in either 32- or 64-bit, but not both. The only other catch-22 here is that driver support is very spotty for the 64-bit version. Apple provides no support whatsoever for 64-bit Windows, but others have tried to cram together varying degrees of 64-bit support on Macs.

Windows Vista 64 Bit and Button Support?

Everybody claiming that Vista x64 (or Ultimate) can't be used with FN keys or Flash Cards is utterly wrong!
I have a Qosmio G30 running Vista x64 Ultimate, and have both FN keys, Toshiba Flash Cards and (partly) the hardware buttons at the top working.
After a lot of research, I found that Toshiba has released a 64-bit version of VAP called util_tvap_27581D. If you google it, you might discover it...

I'm trying to install Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit on a Late 2008 MacBook Pro running Lion. When I get to the partition step I get the message "Installer disc not found." I am logged in as an admisitrator. I'm using a brand new store bought DVD. Any advice?.

Hello @rossinnit and welcome to the HP Forums!
I'd like to help you get the Deskjet 2542 installed on your Windows 7 PC
I'd recommend that you download and run the HP Printer Install Wizard, and that will seek out the drivers online (from the HP web page) and download them for you and then start the install as well.
With that tool you can plug in the USB cable when it asks near the beginning to find the right drivers.

  • No 64-bit vista support...? Starting to question my relationship with Apple

Apple still isn't fully supporting 64-bit vista, and there is no word as to if or when they will do so. Every time I open itunes I have to tolerate the "not correct installed" message and the inability to burn CDs.
I've spent thousands of dollars on ipods, music, and videos. I did so expecting that apple would support me as a customer. It has been months since vista was released, and at this point apple is just being negligent in their lack of support. This is a main-stream windows operating system here. It is entirely reasonable to expect support for it.
I'm starting to reconsider my relationship with Apple. I certainly won't be expanding my library any time soon. Not when they have the ability to hold me hostage by limiting their support. I'm tempted to cut and run. I'll take a big loss on my library, but there may be no other choice.
People have posted links to some 3rd party driver you can install to work around the problem... but I'm not looking for a work-around. I'm looking for reasonable support from a company which has taken a good deal of my cash.
Apple, please do the right thing and resolve this issue.

    http://www.gearsoftware.com/support/drivers.cfm
these aren't 3rd party drivers that act as a workaround. these are necessary drivers to your computer that, for some reason, are absent from vista 64. because every other computer running vista 32 or xp has these drivers. i originally had 32 bit vista and had no issues with itunes. it was only until i got the 64bit version that i had any problems. but seriously, this is probably the only way you'll get around that issue. i don't see apple caring when they're spending all they're resources on releasing new ipods and iphones that have their own sets of problems.

  • Please help me with this error: "Apple application support was not found... Error 2"

Can anyone please help me with this error: "Apple application support was not found... Error 2"
I've followed the instructions by removing all Apple files from my laptop, but when I reinstall the iTunes software it still comes up with this message:
"Apple application support is required to run iTunesHelper. Please uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again. Error 2"
    Thank you

iTunes "Apple Application Support is required... Error 2" and possible fix.
I know this is a bit late but I came accross this thread trying to resolve this same problem and came up with a solution that worked for me, so thought I would share it here too. I hope it helps someone else.
I just resolved this on Win Vista (should apply equally for Win7 too). Please uninstall iTunes before proceeding though. I'll walk you through the process I followed, if you like you can jump straight to the Solution section.
    Problems:
The initial error during the installation of iTunes was:
An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,version="8.0.50727.4053",type="win32",publicKeyToken='1fc8b 3b9a1e18e3b",processorarchitecture="x86". Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT:0x8007054F
The error (after installing iTunes) when trying to run iTunes was:
Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again. Error 2 (Windows error 2).
After trying various fixes around the forums I came across this MSKB article, which relates to the first installation error:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2688946
This lead me to trying to install MS Visual C++ but I received the following error trying to install that:
Error 1935.An error occurred during the installation of assembly ‘Microsoft.VC80.ATL,type=”win32”,version=”8.0.50727.762”,publicKeyToken=”1fc8b3 b9a1e18e3b”,processorArchitecture=”amd64”’. Note: The installation of VC++ rolls back when it fails.
    Solution:
Through this error I found this MSKB article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/946414
The Automated MS "Fix It" msi package didn’t work.
Note: Please backup your registry first (see the above MSKB article for instructions).
I opened the registry and (as instructed in the MSKB article) deleted the following keys:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMPONENTS\
    PendingXmlIdentifier
    NextQueueEntryIndex

    Reboot and reinstall iTunes.
