  • Installables for 32 bit windows machines

    Hello,
It seems SAP has stopped providing installables for 32 bit windows machines. IS it correct?
If yes which SAP versions can be installed on - Windows server 2003 SP2 (32 bit).
Can we have ECC6 EHP4 based on SQL database on it?
    Thanks,
    Ambarish

    Hi,
If you read the installation guide then following thing is mentioned there:
As of SAP ERP 6.0 SR3, you must install an SAP ERP system only on 64-bit operating
    systems.
For the dialog instance, you can still use a 32-bit operating system. Therefore, you
only see the folder Software Life-Cycle Options on the Welcome screen when you start the
installation from a 32-bit installation master DVD.
You might need to install dialog instances on 32-bit operating systems if you want to
use 32-bit SAP NetWeaver components, such as Adobe document services. However,
first check whether such 32-bit components can run on 64-bit operating systems. If
so, we recommend running these 32-bit components on a 64-bit operating system.
    Thanks
    Sunny

  • Using Acrobat 8.2.5 on a 64-bit Windows machine

I own Adobe Acrobat 8.2.5 Standard that I have used on my old computer.  However, it will not load into my new 64-bit computer.  Is there a way to make this work short of purchasing a new program?

    Hi alliembaker,

Is there any parameter settings that requires changes or verifications.
We are facing this using sqlplus as well as through JDBC connection.

Check profile assigned to user... there is a parameter idle_time.. increase this..

  • Can 32 bit OBIEE 11.1.1.5 be installed on a 64 bit windows machine?

We're having LOTS of problems getting the install of 64 bit 11.1.1.5 to work. Just as a curiosity - is it possible to install 32 bit OBIEE 11.1.1.5 on a 64 bit Windows 2008 server?
    Thx,

Got you, and thanks for that clarification. You want the Premiere - Premiere Pro CS4 & Earlier Forum. Not sure of the answer, but someone there can help you.

  • Installing developer workplace on a 64-bit windows machine

    Hi All
I've seen versions of this question asked in various forums before, but they were either unanswered or answered unsatisfactorily. I've recently acquired a new 64-bit hp laptop with 8 gigs of ram at considerable expense. It seemed silly to get a 32-bit system, this being the year 2009 and all. Besides, all that memory...
I was surprised to discover that the developer workplace (available as part of SAP Netweaver PI 7.1 EHP1 and SAP Netweaver CE 7.1 EHP1 install) would not install on my machine. I am running 64-bit Vista by the way. I could not wait for Windows 7, since my previous machine died and had to be replaced.
Now my question is: is there a way to get the developer workplace installed on a 64-bit OS like Vista and if so, how?
I've seen reference to a kernel patch in SAP Note 1040931 (NTCLUST.SAR) with regards to installing on Vista or Windows Server 2008, but I'm not sure how to use it, if it is applicable. The error I'm getting while running sapinst is:
Running msiexec failed with return code 1603: undefined
    Commandline was msiexec.exe /norestart /L sapmmcX86u.log /i sapmmcX86u.msi /qn
If you want the installer to retry, choose Yes. If you want the installer to abort the installation, choose No.
I cannot believe I am the only one running into this problem. Who wouldn't want to develop on such a machine??
    Please comment.
    Regards
    Johan

    Hi Johan,
I would recommend to run a virtual machine on your PC and install the Netweaver there.
I usally use VMWare Server with WindowsXP or SUSE there.
The advantange of this approach is that you can easily copy your installation later on and create sandboxes for any purpose.
Also you can easily move your Netweaver installation to other servers if necessary and you become independent of their host OS.
    Just my 2 cents.
    Cheers Frank

  • How to reference MS Access database in ColdFusion MX 7 on 64-bit Windows

    I am migrating customers from:
    Windows 2000 Server (fully patched)
    Internet Information Services (IIS) 5
    ColdFusion 5
    to:
Windows Server 2003 Standard x64 Edition (fully patched)
Internet Information Services (IIS) 6 (running in 32-bit
    mode)
    ColdFusion MX 7 (7.0.2) Standard
Unfortunately, some of these existing customers are still
using Microsoft Access databases instead of SQL Server. Having all
of these existing customers migrate to SQL Server is not yet
practical. On the old Windows 2000 / ColdFusion 5 server, they are
using OLE DB data sources to reference the MS Access databases
using the "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0" provider. None are configured
to use ODBC drivers when referencing MS Access or SQL Server.
I have yet to figure out how to get ColdFusion MX 7 to:
    - Create a data source that references MS Access databases on
    64-bit Windows.
    - Reference an existing MS Access data source created with
the 32-bit version of the ODBC Data Source Manager on 64-bit
    Windows.
A bit of background information regarding MS Access on 64-bit
    Windows:
    - At the time of this writing, Microsoft has not
created/released 64-bit drivers for Microsoft Access and it's
unlikely they ever will, for understandable reasons.
    - Contrary to seemingly popular belief, the Microsoft Jet 4.0
Database Engine does exist on 64-bit Windows. See the following
regarding version and file location information:
How to obtain the latest service pack for the Microsoft Jet
    4.0 Database Engine
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/239114
    - You CAN create MS Access based data sources within 64-bit
Windows, but they have to be made using the 32-bit version of "ODBC
Data Source Manager". I'm assuming these DSNs may only be used by
32-bit applications, but I have not tested that theory.
    32-bit data sources:
    ODBC Data Source Manager:
    %SystemRoot%\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe
    Registry location:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ODBC
    Default file DSN directory:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\ODBC\Data Sources
    64-bit data sources:
    ODBC Data Source Manager:
    %SystemRoot%\system32\odbcad32.exe
    Registry location:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC
    Default file DSN directory:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\ODBC\Data Sources
The 64-bit version of "ODBC Data Source Manager" (under
Administrative Tools) only show "SQL Server" and/or "SQL Native
Client" as options when creating new data sources, unless
third-party software is installed that supplies additional drivers.
The 32-bit version of "ODBC Data Source Manager" (by default,
there is no shortcut for this in the Start menu) shows the typical
drivers seen on 32-bit versions of Windows, including SQL Server,
SQL Native Client, Microsoft Access, Excel, FoxPro, Paradox, etc.
When using ColdFusion Administrator in ColdFusion MX 7.0.2 in
64-bit Windows 2003 (IIS is running in 32-bit mode to allow
ColdFusion MX 7 to function at all), two problems are encountered
when dealing with MS Access (and presumably other 32-bit drivers).
In both cases, ColdFusion is trying to reference the registry
location for 64-bit data sources instead of 32-bit:
    1. Creating a new data source within ColdFusion
    Administrator:
    Data Source Name: whatever
    Driver: Microsoft Access
    CF Data Source Name: whatever
Database file: (physical path to whatever.mdb)
(other settings are irrelvant for this example)
    Error generated when submitting:
Unable to update the NT registry.
    Cannot open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBC.INI\ODBC
Data Sources: Windows error number 5 occurred.Access is denied.
ColdFusion stores the data source, however a "verify"
    generates the following error:
Connection verification failed for data source: whatever
    java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia][SequeLink JDBC
Driver][ODBC Socket]internal error: Data source name not found and
    no default driver specified
The root cause was that: java.sql.SQLException:
    [Macromedia][SequeLink JDBC Driver][ODBC Socket]internal error:
Data source name not found and no default driver specified
    2. Creating the data source using the 32-bit version of "ODBC
Data Source Manager" then trying to reference it with ColdFusion:
    ODBC Data Source Manager:
    System DSN or File DSN:
    Name: whatever
    Driver: Microsoft Access Driver (.mdb)
    Database: (physical path to whatever.mdb)
(creation is successful within ODBC Data Source Manager)
Reference the above DSN within ColdFusion Administrator:
    Data Source Name: whatever
    Driver: ODBC Socket
    Error generated when submitting:
Error accessing available odbc datasources. - Cannot open
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBC.INI\ODBC Data Sources:
Windows error 2 occurred. The system cannot find the file specified.
ColdFusion MX 7 can't find the 32-bit data source on 64-bit
Windows because it's looking for it in the wrong registry location.
Can ColdFusion MX 7 be configured to look in
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ODBC
    instead of
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC
    on a 64-bit Windows machine?

    Paul,
Thanks for the insight on this. Regarding the initial problem
I ran into with creating Access based DSNs, very early-on, I
noticed there were two different driver options for Access
displayed within ColdFusion MX 7 Administrator:
    Microsoft Access
    Microsoft Access with Unicode
For reasons I'm am still baffled over, I somehow completely
forgot about and through the wonders of apparent tunnel vision,
completely overlooked the "Microsoft Access with Unicode" driver
option when I was running through my tests.
At your seemingly-obvious suggestion, I created a data source
using the Microsoft Access with Unicode driver and it worked
perfectly fine with the one customer's web site I'm using for
testing (of course, this is a copy--the production site is still
housed on the old ColdFusion 5 server). This obviously doesn't
actually fix the underlying issue with ColdFusion looking in the
wrong part of the registry on 64-bit Windows, but at least when it
comes to dealing with Access databases, your suggestion of using
the Microsoft Access with Unicode driver appears to be a functional
work-around. So long as there aren't any surprises waiting for me,
hopefully this will also work for the remaining ColdFusion sites I
have to migrate that are using Access databases.
Since you mentioned JDBC drivers in comparison with ODBC, I'm
pointing out a couple of references in case they're helpful to
    anyone following this thread:
ColdFusion MX 7 - About JDBC
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/coldfusion/7/htmldocs/00001736.htm
    Types of JDBC technology drivers
    http://java.sun.com/products/jdbc/driverdesc.html
    http://java.sun.com/products/jdbc/
I don't actually develop anything in ColdFusion, so I'm
dealing with all of this from a server administration standpoint
since we do have some domain hosting customers that do develop or
at least have existing ColdFusion based sites. I am all
too-familiar with the caveats of using Access in any kind of
production or heavily used environment and have spent years keeping
users away from ODBC. For ColdFusion users, that meant creating OLE
DB DSNs and often having to fix poorly written SQL statements and
fixing ColdFusion date-related values and boolean values (the
common problems encountered when switching CF / MS Access users
from ODBC to OLE DB). I can only recall running into problems with
a single SQL Server based ColdFusion site when migrating from ODBC
to OLE DB. That customer never did get their many coding problems
fixed, so they're the only ones still using ODBC in CF. I have no
idea what'll happen when that one site gets migrated over--if it'll
even work. Obviously a lot of things have changed between
ColdFusion 5 and the MX versions that have come along afterward.
Thanks again for the Access with Unicode driver tip and JDBC
info. It looks like I can finally start moving forward again with
    the site migration process.

  • INTERNET SALES B2B E-COMMERCE 5.0 FOR SAP on 32-Bit Windows

We are trying to install a central instance of the E-Commerce 5.0 for R/3 solution on a 32-bit Windows 2003 server, running on top of SQL 2005 32-bit Standard Edition. The Netweaver 7.0 Kit has an installation for IA-64 and X-64 but does not appear to have a 32-bit installation. Has anyone installed the E-Commerce 5.0 solution on a 32-bit Windows server? If so, on what DVD did you find the 32-bit Netweaver components for a centralized E-Commerce 5.0 installation?
Can someone also provide me with a link to the installation guide that explains what to install and how to install to a 32-bit Windows machine?
    Kind regards,
    Randy

    Don't do it.
We upgraded from 4.0 to 5.0 and went live on 32 bit and performance was horrible.  12 users pounding on a test system was not enough of a stress test.  When we had 100 prd users it was horrible and would crash the system. The IPC would crash.   Had an emergency upgrade to 64 bit and life is much better.

  • HP P1102W printer crashes print service on 64 bit Windows 7

My P1102W randomly causes the print service to crash taking support of all other printers with it. I found a way to restart the print service manually, but this is a real pain. Also, printing two sided works on my 64 bit windows machine, but doesn't work from my other PC (a Windows XP HP Laptop).  Single sided printout works from the Windows XP machine most times, but occasionally nothing shows up on the the printer, but there are no error messages.
Any chance that HP will fix the problems with this printer driver?

    Hello-

  • Can't get Speech.X32 to access SAPI 5.4 on a 64-bit Windows 7 machine.

I can't seem to get the Speech.X32 to work in a Director 10.1 projector or in Shockwave on a 64-bit Windows 7 machine. It works fine on XP and Windows 7 32 bit, but not on Windows 7 64 bit. I placed the following script in first frame of movie. On all machines it says it is available.
    on beginsprite
        if voiceInitialize() then
    alert "Text-to-speech is available"
        else
            alert "Text-to-speech is not available"
        end if
    end
However, I imagine this is just referring to the Xtra, not to the Microsoft SAPI. I can go into the accessibility features of the Windows 7 64-bit machine and use the voice. It just won't work in my projector or shockwavae movies. I have seen a number of discussions from gamers about loosing access to the voice option on Windows 7 64 bit machines. But none seemed to offer any solution. Any ideas?

  • Will WinHelp run on a 64-bit Windows 7 machine?

We have a client who cannot run our WinHelp products on a 64-bit Windows 7 system.  The Microsoft Knowledgebase article provides the WinHlp32 engine download but there no mention of whether this same engine will work on a 64-bit W7 system.
Does anyone have any experience of this?
As a footnote, we have another client who successfully runs the winhelp engine on a 64-bit XP system

    Hi there
I just tested a WinHelp file and it popped right open on my Windows 7 64 bit PC. Now it may have been an older 16 bit WinHelp file, but it worked. I think a 32 bit WinHelp file would be treated the same way Vista treated them. It would prompt for a download of the 32 bit WinHelp engine.

  • I  have a problem with the synchronisation of my iPhone and iPad with Outlook 2007 on my 64-bit Windows 7  PC. For several years, I have had no problems with the synchronisation by cord connection and iTunes between these programmes. However, a few months

I  have a problem with the synchronisation of my iPhone and iPad with Outlook 2007 on my 64-bit Windows 7  PC. For several years,
I have had no problems with the synchronisation by cord connection and iTunes between these programmes. However, a few months ago I decided to use Mobile Me. However, there were problems with duplication of calendars and then “rogue events” – which could not be deleted – even if deleted on Outlook and on the iPhone (or both at the same time) – they would just reappear after the next synchronisation.  All other synchronisation areas (eg Contacts, Notes etc) work fine.
I have looked for help through the Apple Support Community and tried many things.  I have repaired my Outlook. I have repaired my .pst file in Windows. I have re-installed the latest version of iTunes on my PC. I have re-installed the firmware on my iPhone. I have tried many permutations on my iPhone. I have closed down all Mobile Me functions on the iPhone. I have spent upwards of 24 hours trying to solve this problem.
What am I left with? Outlook works seamlessly on my PC. My iPhone calendar now has no events from  my calendar, but does not synchronise through iTunes. Nor does it send events initiated on the iPhone to the Outlook. I am at the point of abandoning iPhones and iPads altogether.  I need to have a properly synchronising calendar on my phone.  Do you have any suggestions?

In the control panel goto the "Lenovo - Power Manager" and click the battery tab, there is a maintenance button in there that will let you change the charging profile for your battery.   (from memory, so exact wording may be off)
The lower the numbers you use there, the longer the battery *should* last.    These batteries degrade faster at higher charge levels, however storing them at too low of levels is also not good for them... I've read that 40% is optimal, but just not realistic if you use your computer.

  • How to sync with vista 64 bit windows calendar and windows contacts

    Hi all,
I see the clear msg on the Palm site saying that 64 bit windows is not supported, but that is still my need and my goal.  I just bought a new DELL desktop and am transitioning to it, but this is a showstopper.
I want to ask if any user has suggestions or if anyone has insight as to if/when palm will sppt it.  Today its hard to buy a machine in a retail store that is not loaded w Vista64...and I spoke to Dell about this, since they need to warn people that the OS may prohibit a person from replacing his old Dell with a new one, but they say its a Palm/Msft problem.
My Tungsten E2 is important to me, and I want to sync it daily.  I am not very sophisticated when it comes to PC's or the OS's although i have learned a lot in the past 3 days.  I have no room to keep 2 machines, nor desire.  Any suggestions besides 'let the buyer beware'?

I've been a Palm user for only 1 Year now and am not impressed.  Sure the 755P was a flashy device with cool features.  However, now after owning the device for a short period I'm looking for updates from Palm which don't exist.  The browser in antiquated and doesn't support recent technology.  The email system is effective, however, hope you don't receive an HTML email because you can't read it in Versamail.  Palm is focused on trying to produce new devices which compete with the IPhone and Storm but aren't remembering that their loyal customers will continue to purchase devices from them if they keep them happy. Futher, after upgrading my wife's laptop to Vista 64-bit I find that we can no longer sync the device using the interface cable.
My advice at this time, is to stay away from Palm until they provide the service which customers have come to expect.  I note today 12/7/08 that Palm is selling at $1.42 a share when just 8 years ago Palm stock was selling for $472.50.  Don't you see the picture, people are interested in the new flashy devices, but, if you don't take care of your customer base which has been loyal they will jump ship and move on to the better technology which works.
How about providing the updates we need to work today.  It will help me make up my mind next year when this 2-yr contract with Alltel is up (and i become a new Verizon) customer.
The matter is all in Palm's hands.  I don't see this company surviving past 2010 unless they start taking care of people now.  My advice, stay away from Palm until they fix all these issues which people have identified throughout the web.
