64-bit Windows 7 on late 2009 iMacs only?

Question

In the Boot Camp Install-Setup documentation I read:
You can use a version of Windows Vista or Windows 7
with any of these Mac computers:
- A Mac Pro or MacBook Pro introduced in early 2008 or later
- An iMac or MacBook introduced in late 2009 or later
Is this true?
Is it really not possible to use 64-bit Windows 7 on a late 2008 iMac?

Generic, yes, but didn't take into account EFI64 (UEFI 2.x) req'd to native boot a 64-bit DVD of Vista SP1 or later. Apple has a list of those that are supported (actually, a list of UN-supported).

Vista user needs to click on the Fix-It button on the Microsoft support website after the upgrade failed at 62% to fix the issue and initiate the upgrade again.
