64 gb Ipad 2 now only has 13 gb available. Help Me.

I have a 64 gb ipad 2 on 5.0.1 firmware. When i plug it into itunes it only recognizes 13 gbs. My computer only recognizes 13gb. I restored it multipole times but still it only has that much space. I have no idea whats going on. Please help me before I break it in half.

When connected to iTunes, what does it show on the memory bar at the bottom of the iTunes screen?
If 64GB, restore as new, i.e. without your backup.  Don't sync anything... see what it says when factory fresh.
If still a problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar and get it replaced under warranty.

    You may have to do this several times.
    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
    i have updated my ipad and now it has a passcode that i have not set up so i do not not have the passcode to put in and now it is disababled! HELP!
    FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
    DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note:
    1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
    2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
    3. Repeat the process if necessary.
  • IPad 2 now only displays in landscape mode.
    My iPad 2 now only displays in one landscape mode. It won't change the screen when I rotate the iPad. Is this an iOS6 glitch?
    The button right above the volume button (slide) can be for quickly silencing your iPad or for locking the screen quickly. You can choose whichever one you want through the settings, and you can also manually lock/unlock the screen in the settings.
  • Loaded itunes on a new computer, and synced ipad.  Now only those few songs I had on the ipad are in my library.  But all of my ipods (3) have my full music library.  How do i get all my songs moved back into my library from one of my ipods?
    I installed itunes on a new laptop, with Windows 8, and synced my ipad.  Now my music library has only those few songs I had synced to the ipad, or roughly a quarter of my original library.  My ipods (all three) still have the full library, but everytime I try to sync them, I am asked if I want to delete all of the contents and replace with the (much smaller) itunes library.  Of course I don't, but how do I "reverse sync" and replace all the music contents of my library with the contents from one of my ipods?
  • I have the ipod touch 64 gig and it only has 59 gigs available
    i originally had the 32 gig itouch and it only had just under 30 gigs avaiable. but i exchanged it for the 64 gig version and yet it only has 59 gigs avaiable. why are 5 gigs remaining since its obviously not due to software or anything. seems like a big rip-off with nearly 10% of the memory missing.
    so in other words apple purposly misleads cunsumers?? one would assume that if you purchased something with 64 gigs of memory the "true" storage space would be something nearing 64 gigs. then minus whats needed for the OS. We're not talking about a 500 gig harddrive where a little space loss doesnt matter much (though it is still rediculous) if apple knows that there is only going to be 59 gigs available to the consumer then advertising 64 gigs is fraud. it should be advertised as 59 gigs and priced accordingly. seems to me that maybe they are trying to save some money by cutting corners, im just surprised this hasnt become a massive issue. 64 gigs is a pittling amount of space but theres no choice as they dont have a larger size. but to then suddenly say well thats not what you actually get and lop off 5 gigs for NOTHING. 1 or 2gig for the sake of the OS i could understand completely but 5 gigs for absolutly no reason is just plain stupid.
    Again this is just me but a company that knows its customers are not going to get what they are advertising is just plain wrong.
    We are fellow users here on these user-to-user forums, you're not talking to iTunes Support. It's not a good idea to post your email address on any public forum (unless you like spam emails).
    There is also no need to shout, apart from anything else it makes posts difficult to read, and may also mean that people don't reply to your posts.
    iOS devices (iPads, iPhones, iPod Touches) don't need authorising/deauthorising, that only applies to your iTunes account on computers. If you have already 'deauthorised all' in the past 12 months then you will need to try contacting iTunes Support and see if they can 'deauthorise all' again so that you can then reauthorise the computers (up to 5) that you still have and need : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page
  • My 320GB external drive for Time Machine now only has enough capacity to keep a backup of one day. All my other backups are gone.  What can I do to fix this situation?
    I've been using a 320GB external drive for time machine for the last several years.  The backups always worked fine and when necessary I was able to look at & restore older data from the time capsule.  Recently, I keep getting the message that a backup cannot be completed and an older backup will be deleted. Usually this wasn't an issue because I still had several months of information on disk.  Now a one-time backup takes up 315GB and therefore I only have a backup of the previous day.  I don't understand this because I thought that the backup only saves information that has changed and doesn't copy everything everytime.  What do I need to do to get my backups to a reasonable size so that I can keep at least 1 month data stored on it.?  Please don't tell me I need a larger drive ... that would be too easy.
    Get a larger drive for your TM backups.
    The recommended size is 3 times what you are backup. So if 315 GB is a backup then you need a 1 TB drive.
  • My ipad is now only showing a black screen with the apple icon and doesn't appear to be charging despite being on the AC adapter all day
    My ipad had an icon on it after being on the charger all night that indicated it needed to be plugged into itunes.  I did this, and then it said it was going to do a restore, I confirmed I was ok and then left it on the computer all day and now the best I can do is get the apple icon on a blank screen.  It occassionally changes to show that it has no battery and then goes back to the apple icon.  How can I restore it?  Any other ideas?
    (A) Charge your battery
    (B)Try and force iPad into Recovery Mode:
    1. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
    If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
    2. Connect USB cable to computer, leave the other end alone
    3. Press and hold the Home button down and connect the docking end of cable to iPad
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect To iTune" screen
    5. Release the Home button
    6. Open iTune
    7. You should see "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode"
    8. Use iTune to restore iPad
    Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad
  • My 16gb iPad mini 2 only has 11.6 gb of free storage, while iPad 3 has 13.x gb of free storage.
    Why is my iPad mini 2 free storage so much smaller? I read online that other people have about 13-14gb free storage while I only have 11.6gb free storage, and I'm keep running out. Is my iPad mini 2 normal? I feel like I have an inferior iPad from other iPads. I don't know if other iPad mini 2 has similar free capacity.
    All models which are the same will have the same space available. However, depending on how you use it and any possible corrupted files, your own free space could vary. To get it back like all others, and to get rid of any possible corrupted files, you should reset your iPad back to its original factory condition. Then you can see how the empty space compares to all the others. But, be sure you do your backups, first.
  • How do I change my iPAD 2 to US, from UK?  I want US content and apps.  Although I live in the US, I set it up when I was in the UK on a trip, and now only access UK stuff.  Help?
    I recently won an iPAD 2 on a trip to Europe, and registered it while staying at my sister's house in the UK.  Now I'm home in the US, I can't seem to access content / applications that are intended for the US market.   How do I reset the iPAD so that I get US content, rather than UK?  Would a total reset back to factory settings do the trick?  Would I then have an opportunity to set up the iPAD from scratch, registering it in the US?  Thanks.
    What you want to do is go to Settings>Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID. Then tap View Apple ID. Enter your password. Then go down to Country/Region and you can change the region in there.
    However, you must have a valid credit card registered to an address in the U.S.
    You may also need to go to the App Store and change the country/region in there as well. When you tap on the featured tab in the App Store - swipe down to the bottom and tap on your ID in the left corners and follow the procedure above.
    I am curious - were you using a credit card register in the UK?
  • Ipad2 now only has grayscale screen colors after 8.1 update
    WWhy is my ipad2 screen diisplay black and white only after iOS 8.1 update?.......grayscale and inverted color options are turned off.
    its the iOS 8.1 causing that issue and there's nothing that can be done until hopefully Apple fixes it in a future update. I don't have a grayscale issue on my iPad 2 with the iOS 8.1 update instead all shadows and reflections within a picture show up blue which makes it nearly impossible to watch a movie or video. Don't bother with restoring your iPad as I have tried it many times nothing works. Apple didn't do their research as the iPad 2 doesn't seem to be capable of running iOS 8.1.
  • Auto sync now only has 2 tabs?
    has "automatic sync" always only had 2 tabs in itunes? or is this new with itunes9 ?
    using "custom sync" still has the 6 tabs as expected.
    maybe my memory is failing, but i thought the 6 tabs were there with auto sync also ? so that you could choose the priority of what was actually syncing ?
    See This
    Auto sync had 3 tabs, which tab has disappeared, I don't auto auto sync so I haven't noticed, I'm guessin' the movies tab.
