645 Combo not starting up properly!

Hey, I'm experiencing a really weird thing here, and it's driving me crazy. It seems to be working perfect when I start up, I can log in to XP and everything - BUT.. when the computer has been turned off for a little bit and I start it up again, the monitor never comes on, leaving it all black, and seconds later the computer restarts by itself, only to come back to the black screen.. and round and round we go! What's going on?
And if I restart it from there, it works again!! Maybe there's a loose connection somewhere? CMOS is cleared and everything...
Some specs: Pentium 4 2,2ghz / Kingston PC2700 256 mb ram / 60 gig Hitatchi HD but I don't think it has anything to do with that - I can switch to other hard drives and still experience this!
The one who helps me solve this can pick any ice cream flavor - it's on me!

alright, I have tried the following so far:
- Switched processor (to another identical one)
- Changed the disk to another one with just XP freshly installed
- Swapped current memory to another empty slot
- Tried another identical memory
- Tried yet another, but SDRAM instead of DDR
- Increased RAM voltage to what you suggested, NavJoe
- Tried running on another graphics card
- Disabled the CDRW-drive and floppy drive as well
- Switched to another PSU (also 300W)
And none of the above made any difference - The problem is still there ;(
But isn't it unlikely that I would need a different PSU, given that most P4 machines uses 300w today, and this is not an extreme machine in any way? Just a thought...

I am quite new in BEA product, actually with weblogic integration. I get an issue when I tried to start Weblogic integration.
I used Weblogic integration 8.5 on my Windows box and JDK 1.4.
When I tried to start it I get the folowing error:

First you can start witht he example server, after installation go to start menu --> example--> launch the examples. which will create a sample domain and brings up the server etc., If you want your own domain, using configuration wizard create a domain(follow the steps mentioned in edocs.bea.com) and bring up the server.

Oracle Database Not Starting Up Properly

On VMware there's a known issue with Oracle databases on a Windows client not starting up properly all the time and a manual startup using oradim -start -sid <whatever> is required to get it fully running. I kinda figured that I wouldn't run into the exact same issue on Oracle VM. I created a brand new Oracle VM Windows 2003 32-bit server, installed the Oracle drivers for paravirtualization, and whammo, the problem is still here. I didn't find anything in this forum about the database not starting up, so I'm wondering if others are running into the same problem and how to resolve the issue. Thanks a bunch for your help.

Right now, you're on supported configuration, you could either raise a SR to the support, or get help from your peer on Oracle Database General forum.
Ah, but it's not a Windows issue. On a non-VM Windows box the database starts just fine all the time. Again, this is a known issue acknowledged by Oracle on the VMware side, I'm just surprised it exists on the Oracle VM side.Again, give more details about this "known issue". Never heard about that, eventhough I've been around for years.
I was afraid you were going to ask that. I'll have to search for it again, but I think you can do the same as well....Well, I doubt you could find a Metalink note about Oracle on VMWare. So far, Oracle has always refused to support database on OS virtualized on VMWare (or any VM software other than Oracle VM). Based on that, you could be sure, your "known issue" is not an issue on Oracle VM.
If you want more help, again, give more details about your issue.

create a new boot.properties file with usernam & password
and
Make the backup of cofig.xml file,
then Edit the config.xml
PasswordEncrypted={ksskjfhsdjfsdfhdk} server="Admin_WLS">
replace with
Password="weblogic" server="Admin_WLS">
restart the WLS now

Have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

[Urgent] MacBook Pro is not starting up properly

I was recently doing work on photoshop and my MacBook Pro's screen went dark but the computer was still running. I restarted it and it was stuck on the grey screen after the apple logo showed up so I restarted again and notice the screen with the apple logo was tinted blue with small horizontal lines. After failing to start up properly multiple times I started it up in safe mode which worked but the were vertical blue bars then entire time. I later was able to start the computer up normally but the screen would glitch out and freeze after a short period of time. Soon even safe mode would glitch out if I did many actions quickly like open the dashboard multiple times or change spaces quickly and the screen would become a series of pixel wide blue and black vertical lines. What is wrong with my computer and how can I fix this so that I can start it up normally and resume work that needs doing urgently.
Here is what I have tried so far:
Verifying the disk in safe mode and nothing was reported wrong
Repairing disk permissions in safe mode
Resetting PRAM
What can I do to fix this problem short of a full wipe or trip to the apple store as I am currently abroad. I also do not have an install disk on me.

Macbook Pro is FIXED!!! FOR FREE!!! under warranty!!! Woooop Woooop!!
Macbook pro would not boot light on front and hardrive noise but nothing on screen...
So i took it to apple store and got seen by the head genius (hmmm).
And because it wont boot and they have the diagnostics to see if it is the graphics chip on a usb drive he could not confirm that because it cant read/start the drive... and told me he could do nothing and it would be a new logic board and cos i am out of warranty and applecare it would be £700.

So i took it to the "mac and pc centre" manchester a certified reseller service centre for a second opinion and see if they could repair for less...
So they confirmed the logic board needed changing but they asked apple if i could be done under warranty and apple said thats fine so its here after 2 days in the shop all repaired...i am happy...
Still gonna get a mac pro soon though..

Macbook Pro 2010 will not start up properly

My Macbook Pro suddenly stopped responding to my actions, which it had never done before (ex. my music on itunes would stop playing without me presseing anything). I shut it down forcefully. At first it did not turn on and was making these weird noises near the power button on the right side. Then I tried restarting it again, and after about 15 minutes was able to get to my desktop. However, I couldn't open any of the files. Now everytime I restart it, it keeps going in and out from a blank desktop screen to a blue screen. If i keep it like that for a while it does the same thing with my password box and the black screen. I tried resetting the SCM and PRAM. Nothing happened when I reset the SMC, but when I reset the PRAM it brought me to a different login, which recognized my keyboard and was responding right away. However, after inputting my password it just went to the regular black password screen and continued going back and forth between that and a black screen. Also my keyboard lights go on and off. HELP!!!!!!! I have two exams and 4 papers next week and I cannot afford to lose everythin.

you can try this: boot your MacBook Pro into Recovery mode by holding down a Command key and the R key as it starts up. Once the OS X Utilities menu appears, select Disk Utility. On the left-hand side of the Disk Utility window, select your internal disk’s boot partition (typically called “Macintosh HD”). On the right-hand side, press the Verify Disk button if it’s not greyed out; if it is greyed out, or if it reports that errors were found, press the Repair Disk button. Once the verification/repair is completed, exit Disk Utility and select Restart from the Apple menu to restart in normal mode. Does it reach the login screen now?

MacBook Pro does not start up properly after yosemite, I see a black screen. What to do?

Apple MacBook Pro 15 " 2.4iC2D/2x1Gb/160Gb/256V, 07-02-2008, always properly updated.
Lately Iphoto worked slow and stuck many times. After ugrade from Maverick to Yosemite had to upgrade IPhoto as well.
After that the laptop started 2 or 3 times, after that it showed me a black screen.
I succeeded to connect with a firewire cable the laptop to my Mac and could look into the laptop.
Unfortunately there was a power break, and I don't succeed in reconnecting.
The laptop stays warm and I hear (I suppose) the hard disk.
What to do? I want to find my fotos and put them on the Mac.

I went to apple today and they told me that the hard drive has unmounted itself. They have my macbook right now and they said they're going to replace the wire that connects the hard drive to the logic board and see if this solves the issue. If it doesn't work they will replace the existing 250GB hard drive in my macbook with a 500GB as they no longer make that size hard drives (cost of £130 for the replacement). The problem is that i dont have my macbook backed up so will there be anyway to get data off the od hard drive?

Computer does not start up properly

The Battery exploded in my older macbook (not a violent explosion, but it seemed to push out and was no longer flush with the bottom of the notebook, so I removed it. I plugged in the computer with the power adapter without a battery and it actually started once normally. I did a shutdown and since then, when I try to start it the white power light comes on, the sound sounds and the screen turns light grey, after about 20 seconds or so, the grey apple appears on the screen with the turning wheel symbol, after about 20 turns of the wheel, the screen goes black. Well, this time it started ok. The battery symbol in the toolbar has an X in it, obviously as it has not battery installed. Is it ok to use the computer like this?
Secondly, I purchased a battery replacement for this unit, when I tried it installed, it did not recognise the battery, it is the A1185 model number and fit perfectly in the slot. Any ideas on this?

I found your thread very helpful. I have a 2009 mac pro 3,1 that seems to be doing similar things. It was working fine then occasionally the screen would flicker and then freeze the system. had to power off to get out of it. Now it won't boot. I get purple and white vertical lines and the apple with the pinwheel. the pinwheel stops after a while and thats it. i tried booting from the cd and get to the harware test but the screen is split left and right. really unreadable. i suspect the graphics card (geforce ) so i tried booting without the card installed. i believe it still did not complete the boot. my question is should i be able to boot without a graphics card installed? any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Download and install the 10.10.1 update.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

IMac froze, and now will not start up properly

I left my iMac for about half an hour, and when I came back, it was completely frozen, and I had to shut it down by pressing the power button. I turned it back on, and this is what happened:
I heard the usual chime, and the grey screen popped up. However, the screen then went black, and then the grey screen popped up again. After a few seconds of solid grey screen, a little icon appeared in the middle of the screen. It looks like a little folder icon, and it alternately flashes the face from the Finder icon and then a question mark over and over.
I tried resetting the SMU and holding the Command-Option-P-R keys before the grey screen pops up, but to no avail. Any suggestions?

After taking it to the Apple Store Genius Bar, we were told that it was a hard drive failure. they booted the computer off their external hard drive with some kind of utility program. the iMac's hard drive did not show up as a drive at all. we were told, there was nothing they could do about it. we could go to a hard drive data specialist who could attempt to extract the data on the hard drive but it would cost up to $1000, but even then the chances of getting data back are not guaranteed. we basically need to get a new hard drive.
this is lovely... for a computer that is a year and a half old, you would expect a little more longevity and reliability in it's components. my old 450MHz G4 tower, that's like 8 years old, has never caused me any problems except for being slow in speed. makes me reconsider wanting to replace my old G4 with the next iMac release.
does anyone have any other suggestions and recommendations that won't cost a thousand dollars in recovery services? thanks!

Wiki will not start up properly, causing python to go nuts trying to restart it every 9 seconds.

Im pretty sure it has something to do with the wiki trying to start up, it only happens when the web service is running. python seems to be running something and the cpu spikes about ever 8 seconds. It spits up tons of errors in the system.log all the same. I don't know how to fix it, I don't even use the wiki, is there a way to keep it from trying to start? Any fix would be good. Thanks

Imac not starting up properly

When I restart my iMac it starts with a black screen and the word 'root' at the top left corner of the screen. What do I type in so that it takes me to the login page?
If anyone can help, greatly appreciate it...

Yeah it worked before...I forgot the admin password and the only way to change it was to reset it using the installation disk. I cancelled it before it completed and when I restarted the computer the black screen appeared.
