648 Max - Identifying but not using both RAM modules

I'm totally new here, just stumbled across this forum while googling for a solution to my problem, so please excuse my lack of proper terminology if that should occur.
I have the following system (data obtained from Everest 2.20 and own brain):
P4 2,80 GHz, no OC, no HT
2x Crucial PC2700 DDR-DIMM 1024MB 2,5-3-3-7 @ 166 MHz
MSI 648Max (MS-6585)
PowerColor Radeon X1950Pro AGP 256MB GDDR3, no OC
Thermaltake Toughpower 850W Modular
Hitachi Deskstar T7K250 160GB IDE
BIOS (this is my weak spot...) Everest says BIOS type AMI, dated 28/1/2003, no info other than that
WinXP Home SP3 + all updates AFAIK
In general, the system is originally ready-built Fujitsu-Siemens system from 2002 (i think), but heavily modified by me (RAM upgrade, HDD upgrade, several GPU and PS upgrades).
My problem is that the computer only occasionally uses both RAMs (i.e. showing 2,00GB RAM in My Computer's properties). More often than not, however, it only shows 1,00GB RAM. AFAIK this problem is pretty recent, and did not occur when the RAM was new and installed by me. I have tried to systematically testing the two different RAM modules separately in each of the three DIMM slots, and the computer booted and ran Windows desktop at idle without problems in all configurations. I therefore dismissed the possibility of both MB and RAM failure, and reinstalled both modules in DIMM 1 & 2, where they have always been located. The computer ran with 2,00GB of RAM for a day, then reverted back to only 1,00GB the next morning. Tried moving the RAM in DIMM 2 to DIMM 3, and the computer ran another day on 2,00GB. However, this morning it was back to 1,00GB again.
Through all this, Everest 2.20 has always detected both RAMs in the correct slots, but have displayed 1024 and 2048MB memory on the System Summary page. Rebooting the computer without dismantling it and fiddling with the modules does apparently not change the usable amount of RAM back to 2,00GB when stuck at 1,00GB.
Anybody know what the issue might be (since none of the components seem to be faulty by themselves) and how to solve it? Please keep in mind that my BIOS skills are shoddy at best (but successfully flashed the BIOS once by help of an official guide, no stability issues after the upgrade), so detailed instructions regarding that might be a bit over my head. The same goes for overclocking or manually adjusting any voltages or freqs, which I've never tried.

EDIT: Apparently a total power-off reboot (power down, PS power switch off, push and hold power button till lights go out, switch back on, power up) seems to reset the RAM to the correct amount of 2GB. Any clues?

The voltage to the memory might need to be raised one notch. That adjustment is done in the bios.

This is for a retail motherboard. I do not know if your motherboard has this in its bios. It is in a section under Frequency/Voltage Control

Cannot restart using 4 RAM Modules on 655 Max HT Ready (MS-6730)

When I use four 512MB RAM modules, my computer starts up and works fine. The only problem is, that I can't restart the it (D-LED boot-error: Memory Failure). To make it run again i have to turn it off and unplug the power cable.
When there are only two RAM modules installed (slot 1 & 3), everything works fine.
What settings do I need to make in the BIOS that it works with all 4 memory modules?

i exchanged two of the kingmax modules by veritech modules and everything works fine now. instead i got problems now with an MSI 648Max-L Board from which i took the veritech memory......
so if anyone else reads this:

Corruption? - LIN_ATTACHMENT_RECORDs found but not used

Hi,
Since moving to GW 2014, a horrible problem has returned. We've used
GroupWise for as many years as I can remember, and some years ago, we
noticed on a regular basis, that emails were becoming 'corrupt' after
GWCHECK contents scheduled maintenance jobs had been run.
By 'corrupt', I mean we noticed numerous emails in shared mailbox folders
(not always shared folders though) were showing as 'posted' items, and the
header and property information was missing. Occasionally, all that remains
is a posted note with the subject, but most of the time it's the attachments
that are missing.
Now, our end users rely heavily on these shared folders, and there own email
mailboxes alike.
I assume the part of the GWCHECK log that refers to this behaviour is
"LIN_ATTACHMENT_RECORDs found but not used". I assume this because it
appears in GWCHECK content check logs occasionally, and when I first noticed
this issue all them years ago, it was present in the logs then too.
Can anybody help me out here? What is happening, and why? I will be under
real pressure to explain and solve this as soon as it is noticed once again
by my end users, and I can see from the logs that it's happened 3 times
since moving to GW2014...
Any help very much appreciated.

Hi Andy, sorry for the delay.
This error from previous years, was attributed to something going on with
the filesystem. However, just like back then, there is no AV or 3rd party
product touching the GW filesystem, so I have to assume it's not that. The
file systems is EXT3, the server was built by a consultant, so I'm not
certain any specific tuning was done with the server. Back in the NW days,
NSS settings were essential to optimise performance.
The filesystem is not accessible to anyone.
Hardware - it's a VM on VMWare, the data is on the SAN, not dedicated
storage to the VM itself. It's the latest SP's of both SLES and GWise, as
far as I am aware, it was built less than 2 months ago.
The SR is open with Novell now, but they are waiting for me to try some
things that need to be done out of hours...
"1. Delete all the scheduled maintenance from the admin console.
2. Wait for 10 minutes
3. During non working hours, bring down the POA and MTA and any other GW
agent
4. Rename the wpcsin, wpcsout from teh PO folder
5. Rename the wpcsin. wpcsout, MSLOCALfrom the domain folder
6. Restart the Agents
You can then use schedule one maintenance on the PO to check if all's well."
I'm not sure if any of that will change things, will keep this thread
updated though.

Is there any way to have an ipad wifi 3G but not use the 3G (therefore avoiding the extra data plan costs) and just use the wifi?

i am looking to buy an ipad 2 or the new ipad (preferably 32gb) but dont want to buy the 3G version as i have unlimited data usage in my mobile phone plan, i know the wifi only ipad is generally cheaper, but i was wondering if there was a way to buy the ipad with 3G capabilities but not use the 3G and avoid the cost of paying the extra unnecessary data plan? (I know this is a really weird question but i have the opportunity to buy a 3G ipad and was curious of the possibility? any help would be greatly appreciated. cheers

Can I install the creative cloud on multiple machines but not use it or pay until activate it

I would like to install the Creative Cloud software on several machines now but not use it or pay for it on all the machines until the person using that machines needs it then they can pay to activate it. Is it okay to have the software installed on lots of machines but not activated?

If the software is installed on the machine and it is not activated, you would not be able to use it once the trial is expired after 30 days.
Whenever, you wish to use it, you can buy it and can start using it.

If you made backups of all of your photos and your catalog file using some third-party method (i.e. not using the PSE catalog backup command), then you should be able to restore everything.
Step 1. Put the photos in the EXACT SAME LOCATION as before. For example, if they were in subfolders of C:\Users\<username>\Documents, then they must go into the exact same subfolders of C:\Users\<username>\Documents.
Step 2. Move the catalog file to wherever you want it to be, and then double-click on it.

648 MAX-L will not install xp

I recently built my new system
P4 2.4ghz
MSI 648 MAX-L
80gig Maxtor HDD
256 mb PC 2100DDR RAM
Radeon 9000
Soundblaster Live 5.1
I tried to install Windows XP Pro but my system hangs up at "setup is starting windows xp" in the BSOD. Since then I've installed Windows 2000 Pro (although it is running with many errors). Every time I try to install Windows XP with a clean install my systems hangs up at the BSOD, if I try to an upgrade install I get various error messages but I am never successful at fully installing Windows XP.
Please help me if possible....... X(

After Effects not using free RAM?

Just like to ask question regarding after effects and ram usage.
I remember before I installed the app Memory Booster - that allows you to keep track of how much ram, there was a healthy use of RAM there from after effects.
But i noticed today, whilst rendering and doing background cache rendering, the free RAM still available stays at around 4GB and I am wondering why it's not using this free RAM to help faster rendering?
this is my current multi-processing/ram settings on AE- essentially it should be using up to 6.5 GB of RAM as i allocated as I need faster rendering? Just wondering why it's staying stuck at around 3-4GB of free RAM on my system when it could clearly be used by AE. I want AE to use the RAM as it is the only running program on my system when i work!
Memory Booster down to 3.18GB with one safari tab open for Adobe forums, when exiting, it jumps back up to 4GB free RAM

Logic 8 not using all RAM

I'm running Logic 8 on a MacPro 8-core with 13 GB of RAM, but Logic always crashes once it's used about 6.5 GB of memory. I'm trying to run a lot of sample libraries and plugins at once (Vienna Instruments, EWQLSO with Kontakt2, Stylus, EXS24 instruments, etc.), but it reaches a limit and crashes, telling me "could not allocate enough memory" and other memory messages like that. How can I get Logic to use the rest of my RAM that's just sitting there?

Ok here's your first problem... 13 gigs of ram. If you read and pay attention to Apple's info, you'll see that they highly recommend you pair up the RAM chips and use the same ones, otherwise you're using 64bit memory addressing as opposed to 128, which of course means processing things faster. Look at your RAM configuration and look at which ones are not paired up, I'm thinking you have a pair of 512MB DIMMS in there which should be taken out, yes you'll lose a gig, big deal, you'll gain speed.
Second, Logic can't use more than 4 gigs of RAM. It's not a 64bit application. 64bit as it's compiled, I am not talking about the audio engine. The fact that it reaches 6.5GB is because EXS24 has its way of starting up more processes which can use 4gigs of ram Each. Logic itself is not using the 4 gigs.
The reason you crash is because one of the plugins you're using is not written properly to let Logic know that it's running out of RAM, and hence Logic tried to take up more and crashes because it can't address more than 4gigs of ram, and when it does... boom. As an example of that, BFD 1.5 used to be like that, until FX rewrote their code to work properly, and now when BFD2 tries to get above what Logic is capable of, it stops loading samples and throws up a little popup telling you you're running out of memory.
Your problem is not logic, it's one of those plugins which is not written properly.

Cineware Not using enough Ram

Hey all, I have 24gb of ram and after effects projects without Cineware use 20gb of that combined (aeselflink+cache etc) in general.
With Cineware, only 8gb or ram total is used with aeselflinks using on 133mb (vs. .4 gb) with Cineware itself only using 400mb.
Is there a way to up the ram usage or does Cineware/Cinema 4d lite bottleneck everything? Is Cinema 4d lite crippled in ram usage? I've experimented with allocating more ram /cores to other apps but doesn't seem to help the render time or the 12 gbs of ram left on the table doing nothing.
Any insight on how to get it to utilize more ram or does the c4d plug in cap everything since it's free?

AE tends to use all the RAM it's allowed, but only if it needs it. Cineware needs a lot of CPU resources to render. It may not need the RAM at all if it's waiting on the CPU to calculate something.

My AirPortExBS n-type will create a network, but not use it to connect to the Internet

I just got a new AirPortExtreme, n-type, and I can create a successful network but cannot use it to connect to the internet. I can do both with my old APEx, g-type. I can connect to the internet directly via Ethernet.
I've been in chat all **** day with Comcast, who insist it's Apple's fault, despite all the evidence to the contrary. They just want an excuse to charge me a setup fee. Jerks.
Salient points:
g-type wireless network (while it's useful to tell the two apart, I'll miss the whimsical UFO-shaped device) works.
n-type device will create a network my MacBook can detect, but it can't access the internet. I got my APExpress in the mail (two days later, even though they were ordered at the same time) today and I haven't tried bridging that in yet, too many headaches already, but I can print wirelessly over the new network when my printer is attached to the square APEBS.
I have power-cycled the **** things almost a dozen times at the behest of my Mac's setup guide and Comcast's chat people.
My best guess is that my modem, because I did not buy Comcast's (jerks) "Wireless Self-Install Kit" is somehow not compatible with the faster AirPort... though why it wouldn't broadcast at the 2.4Ghz band, at least, I don't know.
I will be thoroughly grateful if you guys could help me out here. I've never had a problem with any of my Apple products before, so this is a little disturbing.

It is not possible to use links to object without Id field. U can pass other values but Id is important- based on that only OnDemand identifies the record.
So what i would suggest is
1) Either use Id along with SR Number in ur source system.
Since what i understood is u are not creating new SR so u have the Id of the SR. Along with SRNumber save Id also in the external system
2) Or use Webservices to query with SR Number for the Id then use it in the link.

I can receive and send mail using my comcast app but can only receive mail using the mail app but not send.

Been there and done that with the Comcast email account on my iPad. Specifically ...
Check the outgoing mail server setting. Make sure that your username and password are in there.
Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional.
