64bit 11g ODAC

Hi,
I am looking for the download for 11g ODAC install (ideally XCopy) but the latest one I can find is 10.2.0.3.02 rather than the prefered 11.1.0.7.20. Does anyone know if this is available and if not when it is likely to be.
Thanks in advance,
Chris

ODAC 11.2 xcopy (32-bit and x64) will be available on OTN at the same time a production version of ODAC for VS 2010 and .NET 4 is made available.
Oracle will have a ODAC beta for VS 2010 and .NET 4, which will be pretty short. So get your feedback in quickly. Afterwards, we'll release a production version that will include xcopy.

  • Tns problem with Oracle 11g ODAC 11.1.0.6.21 with Oracle Developer Tools

    I installed the full
Oracle 11g ODAC 11.1.0.6.21 with Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio
now I am at the good old "[ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified]" error.
I copied the same tnsnames.ora as used on the db server
    onto the client "C:\Oracle\product\11.1.0\client_2\Network\Admin".
The host name is right since a normal ping works. TNSping is not available.
but I get the [ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified] error.
The listener is running and the instance as well since it all works on the source server.
    I tried it with
    SET path=c:\oracle\product\11.1.0\client_2\bin
but tnsping is still not recognized.
sqlplus works on the other hand when I set it to
    SET path=c:\oracle\product\11.1.0\client_2\
    what is going on...

    hey
u can post your query here, and i think everyone here is to share opinion so do not hesitate to do so and please try to google before posting here,

they always tend to discouraging people here on forums, and i think they are vvolunteers to reduce crowd here on forums, inspite of there experience and people respect them they can not control their anger
so please post you tns here, i think there are ways to ask people to google and search docs first, but not like this

  • Installing Oracle 11g ODAC 11.1.0.5.10 Beta

    I've installed Oracle 11g ODAC 11.1.0.5.10 Beta.
It came back with installation successful.
How do I get the Oracle Database Server(Oracle ODP.NET) to appear as one of my datasource choices?
I added the Oracle.DataAccess.dll (v. 2.111.5.10) to my bin folder. I restarted VS2005, dropped a gridview on the page, selected NewDatasource. My only options are for Microsoft.

This step by step tutorial should help you out:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/net11gobe/building.net/vs_otn2.htm
There are parts of the tutorial that you can skip since you are only interested in ODP.NET showing up as a data source and using it within a gridview.

  • Oracle 11g ODAC 11.1.0.6.21 on Windows 2008 Standard server gives TNS error

    Hi,
I have Oracle 11g ODAC 11.1.0.6.21 installed on my Application server that has 32 bit Windows 2008 Standard. The Oracle database 10g is installed on another 2008 server. On database server I can connect using SQLPlus. But on application server I cannot connect using ODAC SQLPlus. I have given correct service name in tnsnames.ora file.
Error is ORA-12154 TNS: Listener cannot resolve service name
What's wrong? Is 11.1.0.6.21 not meant for Windows 2008? I did not get any errors while installing.
This 11.1.0.6.21 works perfectly for me on XP machine.
I have browsed this forum but not getting clear steps to peform.
Can someone guide me what is needed?
    Thanks
    Shrini

    Hi,
The request to connect from the client is reaching the server but it seems the parsing of the service name is either wrong or the information is correct. Here are a couple of suggestions.
If you have a good known set of sqlnet.ora and tnsnames.ora files on another client where the same connection descriptor works, then backup the curreny client network config files and copy the good known files to the Windows 2008 web server where you see the error. Make sure you recycle the worker processes once the files have been copied.
Try to connect via Ezconnect and by pass the config files to see if you get the same error.
    //hostname:port/servicenameofdb
where hostname is the machine where the target database is running
port is the port on the DB machine where the tns listener is running and listening
service name is the service name of the target DB
Use this syntax in the connect string box when attempting to connect from SQL PLUS out of the ODAC home.
You can also run lsnrctl utility on the server and vertify there is a handler for the service name or instance that is the target,

  • Oracle 11g ODAC with Oracle 10g Database

    Hi,
I am trying to work with SDO_GEOMETRY from .Net.
When selecting * to a DataSet exception is thrown - Unknown column type.
So, i saw that Oracle Data Provider for .NET 2.0 11.1.0.6.20 supports User Defined Types. My question is this:
If i will install only ODP 11.1.0.6.20, will my system still work with everything else from 10g version?
(It's very hard to convince bosses to transfer all DB to 11g just because of UDT, so it's not an option).
    Thanks in advance,
    Max

I also just discovered this thread:
Which version of ODT should I use?
    That does it for me.

  • Windows 7 64-bit and need to install both 32bit and 64bit Oracle 11g client

    Hello
First I am sorry for asking what is probably a common knowledge answer from most in the forum. I just cannot find a straight forward answer searching these forums or via google.
We have Windows 7 64-bit planned as our next desktop upgrade. We have several Oracle databases, and all of the client software in our environment is 32 bit.
I want to try and be ahead of the curve so I want to deploy the latest 64-bit 11g client instead of our current client (10g 32bit).
The simple question is this: Can we actually do that with our 32bit application suite or do I need to install the 32bit client for 32bit applications side-by-side with the 64bit 11g Oracle client for future 64-bit clients?
For a follow up to that, if I do, then does anyone have good instructions on that? I found one article on this but it seemed custom and made use of the mklink command, so I have my doubts this is correct.
    Thanks

Thanks for the tip. What I wonder though is should I do that or does the 64-bit client have a 32-bit layer that works with 32-bit applications or, am I forced to still deploy a 32-bit client because of my 32-bit software?
    Thanks

  • Memory leak in OracleDataReader with UDT in 11g

    Hi,
Can someone confirm that the following code is leaking (hugely!):
    command = new OracleCommand("select c.polygon from spatial c", connection);
    reader = command.ExecuteReader();
    while (reader.Read())
    reader.Dispose();
    command.Dispose();
    where polygon is SDO_GEOMETRY.
Memory consumption for this code in Task Manager is +100MB above "normal" and it does not drop after calling Dispose() methods. I've also noticed that this "leak" is proportional to FetchSize. GC.Collect also does not change anything.
Is it a bug of 11g beta or am I missing something?

I'm not sure what do you mean by ODAC 2007. I couldn't find anything useful on your website regarding "ODAC 2007". I'm using Oracle 11g ODAC 11.1.0.5.10 Beta and I'm particularly interested in SDO objects. Based on your code samples I created strongly-typed C# classes for SDO objects and everything works like a dream (apart from this memory leak). And the performance is just OUTSTANDING! Keep up the good work!
BTW: Congratulations regarding ODP.NET API for binding UDT with C# classes. It's very intuitive and easy to use even if you want to create C# classes from the scratch, i.e. without any wizards. Did I mention performance? :-)
Many thanks Kiminari for your reassurance: it means a lot to me since I can now keep working on my project without any worries (I need a stable version of ODP.NET with UDT before Q2 2008). I was thinking about using OLE DB but the performance was horrible due to marshalling, passing untyped objects, etc. But you've just saved the day, and for development purposes the leaking version is absolutely fine.
Just small questions: when can we expect "ODAC 2007" or at least another beta? More less? Any estimations?

  • Can I use Oracle 11g Developer tools with 10G and XE

Hi, I want to use Oracle 11g ODAC 11.1.0.6.21 with Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio with 10g and Xe . Will there be any issues. I want to do so because I am not able to see Oracle Database project in Visual Studio when I install Oracle 10 g developer tools wherein I see that in Oracle 11g developer tools. Please suggest.

No there are no issues. Just be sure to install ODT in a separate location than where XE is installed.

  • Difference between ODAC 11.1.0.7 and Win32_11gR1_client

    Hi,
What is the difference between the two installations? If I need ODP for .NET components and install Oracle 11g ODAC 11.1.0.7.20 software, then do I miss any components which are part of Win32_11gR1_client download?
    Thanks for any help,

    Hi;
    Please see below thread

  • Oracle 11g Instant Client availability on Windows

We have just installed and tested new features on Oracle 11g Linux and Windows.
We had a problem in the deployment phase, we installed the Oracle Instant Client in Windows connected to Oracle 11g Server with Linux.
The systems seems is not working correctly, when will be the instant client 11g for Windows available?
We have a urgent need to know it.
    Thanks a lot.
    Stefano

I don't think the instant client is available yet for windows nor linux.
As for the 11g client beta on windows, you can get it via ODAC.

  • 11g client connection to XE fails

    Hi,
I have installed the 11g client beta and Oracle XE on the same system running Vista Ultimate.
The 11g client can connect to Oracle 9i running on remote systems.
The XE sqlplus can connect to the local XE instance (and remote Oracle instance).
When I try to connect my application to the XE instance I get an exception:
    Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleException: ORA-12532: TNS:invalid argument
    In sqlnet.log I get:
Fatal NI connect error 12532, connecting to:

When I change HOST and SERVICE_NAME it works perfectly well to connect to a remote Oracle instance.
Disabling the local firewall does not help.
In the PATH, the 11g client path comes before the XE path. (No ORACLE_HOME set)
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

Strange. I have 10g XE with the 11g ODAC beta, but I can connect using localhost as my TNS host name. Another solution may be using the IP address for localhost: 127.0.0.1
One thing to keep in mind is that SQLPlus comes with 10gXE, not 11g ODAC beta. So, the version of SQLPlus you are using is really from the 10g Home.
    Ming Man,
It sounds like you need to copy over a tnsnames.ora file to your new ODP.NET 11g Home or some other general Oracle connectivity configuration not set.

  • Need a clear step by step on the right way to install

    Hi,
I'm trying to setup new SQL 2005 servers. I'm migrating from an old 32 bit SQL 2000 server. I have Linked Servers to Oracle 8i and also Reporting Services reports connecting through Oracle connections.
On the new servers, I'm dealling with 64bit Windows 2003 Server. SQL 2005 Enterprise 64 bit on the db server and SQL 2005 Standard 64bit on the SSRS server. Oracle is now 10g.
Trying to get the Oracle drivers installed on the servers so that everything works is just driving me batty :(
We've downloaded 64bit and 32bit 10g Oracle (some articles I read said they should be installed side by side), ODAC and ODP.NET.
I'm afraid we're not really Oracle DBAs doing this. I'm a SQL developer with a fair amount of SQL DBA experience (just always on 32bit so I'm covering new ground here with the 64bit considerations) and the DBA in IT that's working with me is an Oracle DBA that's only recently had to start touching SQL servers. Between us, we know enough to bash around and force things to sort of work, but I know we're doing it wrong!
Can someone give me a clear step by step of what to install on each server and in what order so that the Linked Servers and SSIS connections work with Oracle on the db server and the Reports work with Oracle on the SSRS server?
    Thanks in advance.
    Tim

Actually, here's what we found works after many trials and errors, reading many Oracle posts, and a support call into Microsoft.
On the server, we had to install:
    64bit 10g client
    then 64bit 10g ODAC
    then 64bit 11g ODP.NET
This allows both SSRS and SSIS to correctly access the Oracle provider. However, if you plan to actually work on test SSIS package or SSRS reports from within Visual Studio.NET ON THE SERVER, you have to also install the 32bit 10g client and ODAC. Otherwise, VS.NET can't see the 64bit drivers and won't execute the pacages (or reports) correctly.
So, on my production server, I'm installing only 64bit stuff to keep it cleaner, since we won't be doing actual dev on the prod server. But on the dev server, I want to retain the ability to test packages from the server so we're running 32bit and 64bit Oracle clients side-by-side.
    Cheers,
    Tim

  • Bi publisher report, data table, column label displays last character

    Hello all,
I have created various reports on BI Publisher (win2008 R2 64bit 11g (.1.1.5) version). After altering some access rights, all the reports that include data tables display only the last character of the column label. All the column data is reported correctly.
    example:
    - TotalNumber -
    4234
    234
    4
    became
    - r -
    4234
    234
    4
Any ideas about what is going on???
    Thank you

    Thanks for the suggestion Simon.
I just created a view based on the 46-column SELECT statement from dual above and then set "SELECT * FROM myview" as the Source Query.
Unfortunately I get exactly the same error.
    Thanks,
    Andy
