64bit Adobe Square & Hulu playback issues [SOLVED] for now

Back in mid September, I installed Adobe's flash player "Square" preview release. All was good including perfect Hulu playback.
As of this weekend, Hulu wouldn't play, and without a message as to why.
And yes, I'm aware of, and experienced the Hulu playback issue with the prior test version Adobe had available prior to Square.
Square fixed Hulu playback for me, but just temporairly.
Anyone else having this issues or is it just my system?

Apparently, RTMPE isn't functional yet, which Hulu now requires.
Hulu and Amazon which depends on RTMPE aren't currently functioning because there are some 64-bit libs that need to be integrated into the branch. That particular bug is set ToFix, but i can't speak to the timing.
Encrypted Real Time Messaging Protocol (RTMPE or RTMPTE) is a proprietary protocol created by Macromedia used for streaming video and DRM. It reportedly allows secure transfer of data without SSL. It is implemented in flash player 9.0.115 and some versions of Flash Media Server 3.

As of yesterday, Hulu is blocking the 64-bit plugin again.
This time it doesn't even give an error message, the video window just doesn't display.
I've gone back to the 32-bit plugin, which still works there.
Interesting, Hulu is blocking both 32- and 64-bit Linux versions of Square,
even though the release notes say that only 64-bit versions fail to support content protection.

I have been having some problems with my Wireless under arch on my lapotop, which is a HP Pavillion 15-n278sa. I've had the wireless working twice before, but a reboot broke it both times. The Ethernet works perfectly fine. The first time I have no idea how I got it to work, it was a combination of a bunch of different threads and eventually I modprobed the wireless adapter and it worked (this no longer works).
This is the output of when I try to connect to the wireless using wifi-menu:

If there is anything more I can provide I would happily do it, I really need the wireless to work under this laptop. I know it works, I have had it working under Arch and it works under Ubuntu no problem. I am not sure if it is a driver problem, or if it's a problem with netctl. It looks more like a problem with netctl as after netctl updated it started working, and after a reboot it broke again.

Time Capsule internet drop-out problem.... Solved (for now....?)

I am new here, but i would like to share my experiences with a problem a lot of people seem to have here aswell.
I got home last week after being abroad for work for two days, and noticed i couldn't get on the internet again. My system uses an iMac, TC and an internet modem i got from my ISP, which is a Motorola modem.
Hooked the TC up to the modem via ethernet and this has been working without a glich for about 2 years now. I first noticed the problem on my iPhone which was unable to get on the internet. Connected to the network just fine, but no internet. Very strange, as i had a solid green light on my TC.
Checked the internet on my iMac, and i found the same problem. Did a reset on the TC and the modem, and things seemed to be ok again. But.... after about 20mins. internet was not working any more again. By now i was getting rather frustrated, because in the AirPort Utility it said everything was working the way it should, including a solid green light on the TC.
Been going over everything i could think off. Soft reset, hard reset, going back to factory settings, resetting the modem. Just resetting the modem, just resetting the TC, resetting both at te same time. Nothing seemed to work, the problem kept coming back! Downgraded the software on the TC, upgraded again. Nothing.
Strange thing was, i hooked up my computer via ethernet directly to the cable-modem and internet was just fine, so no problem there, which was confirmed when i called my ISP (which is great... as long as there is no problem)
After 3 days i finally called Apple, and they were ok to help me. For free just for once (next time i will have to pay 49euros!!) and told him about my problem. He gave me all suggestions i already tried, except changing channels on the TC.
After the call i tried doing that, going from channel 1 to 6, but still... after 20 - 30 mins. internet would drop.
But.... i put it on channel 7 and for now it is working great again. (no loss of internet for about 36hours!!)
This seems to be THE solution for my problem. Apparently, one of my neighbours put up a device which was interfering with the signal of my TC, which caused all my problems!
For now i am really happy everything is back, up and running and i thought i just let you all know about my problems, and solution, because this forum has been a great help!
And... before i forget.... i am running firmware 7.3.2 now... because i read a lot of problems about 7.4.1 and things are running great for me now !!
Hope this little story can help someone else..... try change the channels TC is working on !!

Adobe Audition CC Playback Issues

Hi there,
My name is Lauren and I have been having some issues recently with Audition CC regarding playback. I've been using Audition (in the various versions) for about six years now and I have never had this issue with any of the other versions I have used.
So the issue is this: I will import an mp3 file of an instrumental I've created in a different program, and then record the vocals in a multitrack session in Audition. I make sure that no other programs that will use up my sound card are open at that time. (Like YouTube, iTunes, or any other type of recording software) I will record the vocals, and the playback goes smoothly until I reach almost to the end of the song; that's where things get odd. Once it hits that point, the playback is really skippy, and it sounds like how a scratched CD would.
I've tried exporting what I have done into an mp3 file, and play the file in Windows Player or whatever, and it sounds completely normal; it's just when the multitrack session is in Audition that it skips like crazy.
I've tried to do some research to figure out what the problem is, but I can't seem to find any answers. Would any of you know what the problem might be? Your help would be SO appreciated!

Yes, we need more details of the sound card(s) being use and things like drivers etc. However, a couple of comments:
First, turning off system sounds is absolutely necessary in Windows for any serious sound work. The bings and boops that Windows generates will all upset your sound work. Also, for a problem of a skipping playback, go to Edit/Preferences/Audio Hardware and (assuming you're using MME drivers) increase the latency setting. This will increase the buffer size and make your playback more stable.
Second, for Jammin101, when you say files won't play back, are you getting skipping like the original poster or no playback at all? If the latter, does the system just sit there and refuse to do anything or does the cursor move on the waveform display but not give you any sound?

Adobe Audition CS6 playback issue with Windows 8.1

After installing Windows 8.1, playback doesn't work in Audition CS6. I've tried deleting the program and reinstalling, but did not help. Can you help?

Try the following:
Open Audition and select Edit > Preferences > Audio Hardware. Try changing your Default Output to any other option, click OK, then go back and change it back to your preferred setting. You might also be able to switch the Master Clock preference at the same location, apply, then set it back.
While this is typically introduced by a change to the OS or device drivers, we are investigating to see if we can catch this situation and resolve it for a future release.

T43 dvd drive playback issues [SOLVED]

I have recently picked up a t43, and am having some downright bizarre issues with the DVD drive. The t43 has ide drives, but uses a sata-bridge from what I can tell - this essentially means that both IDE drives are seen as scsi. My hard disk is sda and my dvd-rw drive is sr0. The drive seems to work ok for playing music CDs and for playing unencrypted DVDs, but as soon as a DVD with CSS is in the drive, it starts going batshit, and fills dmesg with I/O errors. I've tried Arch, Edgy Eft, and Frugalware -current -- all suffer from the same problem. I have a fully updated Arch install on it now, FWIW. Running kaffeine or mplayer or dvdbackup from the command line fills the console with "failure to crack" messages. I have yet to see how it behaves when burning discs, but cdrecord -scanbus doesn't find a usable drive, so my guess is it may not be pretty.
However, I have only been able to find a single discussion about this issue, and that was on the Gentoo forums. There was no remedy found, though some folks thought it was region related, and others thought it was related to dbus versions. I've swapped the drive out, and the issue remains, so I really don't think it has anything to do with the drive.
Can anyone out there with a t43 or later thinkpad actually view encrypted dvds on it?

As I suspected, it wouldn't burn anything - after a certain amount of dicking around, I discovered that it's expecting to see an sg* device in /dev as a burner which isn't being created by default. I created a symlink from /dev/sr0 to /dev/sg0, and cdrecord can now see the device - for some reason it didn't like being told dev=/dev/sr0 though. As far as I can tell at this point the burner does/will work, or at the very least I've burned a single copy of tpowa's base iso and booted from it fine. I still have no idea wtf is going on with reading - nearly every account I've seen online says that "everything just works" after about 2.6.15 - I've seen about 5 different libata module options, and none of them have changed anything (as far as I can tell) other than I get a nice stream of errors on boot with a couple of them.
This is just a personal observation, but it would be really helpful if people had their blogs and wiki's setup to log dates of entries. Thinkwiki is great, but it's very hard to tell if what you're reading there is from yesterday or two years ago. Also, if you're writing a how-to guide, please don't gloss over what "just works" about something that has been known to not work once it is fixed, and don't say "it all worked OOTB" if you haven't even tested it. A personal gripe there, I guess, but I get a little annoyed when I rely on community reports that "it all just works now," spend $1k+ on a lappy, and discover that it does not, in fact, all "just work" now.
I'll keep banging on this, though, and I'll post more specific error messages later on.

Apple TV Home Sharing Issue (SOLVED for me)

I had been having problems with Home Sharing while other functions (Netflix etc) worked fine. My setup is wireless using Time Capsule. My network was "open" (password not needed). I had tried everything from recycling my DSL modem and Time Capsule and turning Home Sharing off and on (on my computer and the Apple TV) without success.
My Time Capsule has the ability to connect at 5GHz or 2.4GHz. Additionally, my networks may or may not be password protected. I finally changed to a network that required a password and my Home Shareing issue ended. Since that network change everything works fine.

I was going crazy trying to play music from my Itunes library and watch slideshows of my photos as, once started, the application would quit within a minute of starting. I called Apple Support and tried everything they sughgested - restart, restore etc. Finally, I turned my router off and let it reset. When I turned it back on. everything worked. I could have saved a lot of aggravation had I been instructed to do so originally.

DST issue solved for ACS 5.3 ?

The workaround mentioned in the article is to manually change the clock. So I was prepared to do this last weekend but to my surprise the winter-time was AUTOMATICALLY changed by the ACS appliance !
The configs on my side is:
clock timezone Europe/Amsterdam
ntp server x.x.x.x
Do I understand correctly that when 'clock timezone' is configured, the DST settings automatically are configured !

I'm ACS 4.2 you had to, I don't recall on ACS 5.x. You services need to have that though. I would have to look at my lab ACS. It won't hurt trying it first to see if it works or not.

[Solved for now] Sound pops on playback

I did what the wiki said to stop the sound from popping when playback starts, but it continues to pop. Anyone having similar problems--any advice would be helpful too.

It would be nice if you told us what you did and where you got the instructions from . But from what I'm presuming it's an alsa problem so did you follow the instructions from here ?

SOLVED (for now) MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010): Intermittent black screen or loss of video

I downloaded the display driver update from apple support and it didn't fix the problem. I had to download gfxcardstatus-1.7.5 and change the driver to Intel Graphics instead nVidia (wich is the one that crashes the screen)

Not able to install BB Link - maybe solved for now

first - please excuse my english if there are maybe some mistakes, it´s not my foreign language - i´m from Germany and want to give some response for all of those, who got the problem with the install-problem for this software.
I also got the problem with different errors while trying to install the actual version of link on my computer (Win 7 64bit).. I´ve got a previous version of linked installed while trying to update - main error during the installation was the missing network source - the installer meant.
I´m working in the 2nd-Level IT-Support, so sometimes i know what to do..
After many many tries and searching for potential solutions in different forums i got the following solution:
A clean deinstallation of the previous version is highly recommended. If you are not able to deinstall it through the control panel, try to uninstall it with a different uninstaller - in my case the IObitUninstaller from PortableApps was helpful. http://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/iobit_uninstaller_portable
It used to try the normal Deinstallation, when this is not successfull he is looking for another way where you´ll get listed all of the link files on your installation folder and your registry - try to deinstall it that way (be careful, backups are usefull..). If this also doesn´t work - give the microsoft fixit install and install tool one try - http://support.microsoft.com/mats/program_install_and_uninstall - i´ve got this link from another thread here.
Somehow this wasn´t the complete solution. After the Deinstallation (i suggest that one of these should be successful) the latest version doesn´t like to install. Different errors on my machine, f.e. network source not available, another try got the respond "there´s already another installation running" .... and many more .. forced me to check the possible reasons. With the process explorer i checked the running tasks - there was the windows installer still running some kind of installation of link.... try to kill these tasks (in my case this wasn´t successful - they are restarting immediately) - maybe you´re luckier then me. If it won´t work - Reinstallation of the installer is a possible solution. The Way you could to that you´ll find here: http://www.optimize-your-pc.org/fix-windows-installer-error-1719 - please be careful if you try to use the reg-tweak as described. It is also possible that you´re not able to find the key described /HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENT CONTROL SET\SERVICES\MSIserver\WOW64)- don´t worry ´bout that. I also needed to reinstall the installer.
at least - the source file i´ve downloaded also does not work. Tried to download it a few times and the installation still didn´t work. After that i tried to use an alternate Source for downloading.
After all these steps i was able to install it in the latest version.

[SOLVED for now] Suspend-to-RAM broken - immediately turns on again

Hi everyone,
Susped-to-RAM was working flawlessly on my lenovo IdeaPad S12 Netbook until recently:
When I Suspend-to-RAM (via KDE) the system apparently suspends correctly but then it instantly turns back on. So the problem is not that I cannot suspend but rather that the system turns back on immediately after suspending. Usually the system could only be turned back on by pressing a button on the keyboard or the power button (not by moving the mouse or opening the laptop lid).
I unplugged all attached devices, including mouse, keyboard, power supply and network but that doesn't help.
I'm pretty clueless what could cause this and would be happy if someone could point me in some direction. This used to work until recently but I don't know what update broke it.

Installation problems solved for XP SP2 systems.

I've been pulling my hair for days trying to install SC2, but had no luck.
The installation process DOES have a bug. Use the following tactic in addition to disabling any firewalls and virus programs:
Right-click on the installer file and select 'Compatibility' . Click 'Run this program in compatibility mode:'. Finally, simply select Windows NT 4.0 (Service Pack 5) mode.
Problem solved for now. Hope this helps.

This is very interesting akian ty - I will definitely try this at the weekend. I can install and run on a laptop with XP SP2 - and it had previous versions installed on it. However on the desktop PC I have not been able to install.
My problems have been with opening ports and appserver not starting. I will post back here how I get on with your tip. Thanks and also for the other suggestions that people have tried to help me with.

Video playback issues in Air for Android

Hello everybody
I am developing an advertisement application which plays multiple videos. I have faced a very strange problem: nor the simple Video nor the StageVideo are not visible when I run the app on target android device. I can hear the audio but the only way to get the video is to press back button and then get back to app but in this case the video goes over the UI. This happens only on a target device which is a chinese sibo android tablet. It has android 4.1 on board. I have seen a lot of people had the similar issues:

but the solution mentioned there - adding <containsVideo>true</containsVideo> to the manifest xml doesnt help
I am using adobe air 4.0 sdk and the air 4.0 runtime on the device. I have tried to change renderMode to CPU/Direct/Auto but it doesn change anything.
The other three android devices I have - toshiba thrive tablet(4.0.4)/ eken tablet(4.2.2)/ htc desire c(4.0.3) play all the video content without any problem.

All of these problems very important for our business. Often we cannot create stable AIR applications when we need to use videos.
Could you force for faster fixing these issues?

Adobe square ? loading for ie5 in 64 bit version ?

I needed an up
dated version of adobe flash for viewing online in 64 bit. when i went to square it stated it was in ie5 and that windows didn't recognize adobe as the maker, i love adobe but i use ie9 upgraded with 64 bit windows 7, once i loaded a program that put ie3 on my xp and it took 3 months to clean ie3 out, how can i get square for 64 bit in ie8 at least, 8 being standard with w 7

loaded updated version flash, still recieve no video, tried reloading square same problem, unknown maker an ie5 10.--.153 no results, shut down an started computer as final thought no video.
