64bit version again

Hey! What about building a pure 64bit version for Linux?? I bet 90% ov Linux users use 64bit system, so why should we mess our systems with redundant 32bit libs? Having trouble building it? Having too little time for that? In the Linux world there is a way how to solve such problems.... Opensource the code! And you'll see how quickly someone will patch it for 64bit rebuild...

Unfortunately, they will never make Skype for Linux open-source. They are not losing any money with Skype for Linux as it is: we cannot sign up for premium accounts and, even if we could, a lot of the premium features do not work plus there are no adverts. Despite this, they are going to keep Skype for Linux closed source, never develop it and eventually tell us to move to Skype for Web. It is a shame that, throughout its history, Skype for Linux has been so neglected. It spent years as a "beta" version and now, the first "full" version is probably going to be phased out.

  • This iphone can not be used because the required software is not installed. Run the itunes installer to remove itunes, then install the 64bit version of itunes

This iphone can not be used because the required software is not installed. Run the itunes installer to remove itunes, then install the 64bit version of itunes
I keep getting the above error everytime I plug in my iphone.
I am not daft, I do have the 64bit version of iTunes installed already. When I installed itunes 10.5 and more recently 10.5.1 I got an error message that rolls back a section of the installation (The updater I think) before finishing off installing iTunes.
After the installation iTunes will work normally apart from when I try to connect a device. At which point I get the title error message and I can not sync my phone.
It's probably down to Itunes not installing properly however no matter what I try I can not sort the problem out. I've tried uninstalling all apple programmes followed by a registry clean, then reinstall. I've tried the same again but in a specific order. I've tried repairing iTunes, repairing the updater etc etc. Nothing seems to work. I'm out of ideas.
Has anybody had this problem? Please can somebody tell me how to fix it!
Getting an iPad this Christmas and if I can't sync that up to my PC I may just have to go over to ANDROID!!!

Is there a way to install this on its own?
Yeah, let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunes64Setup.exe installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunes64Setup.exe, and select "Extract to iTunes64Setup". WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunes64Setup".
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, does an iTunes install go through properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • I just got an iPhone 4s and when I tried to sync it with iTunes it said to uninstall and download the 64bit version. I uninstalled all ove my apple software before I could get it to install at all. Still doesnt work. Doesnt even recognize my phone.

I just bought an iPhone 4s yesterday and it wouldn't connect to the iTunes 10.6.3 I had already on my laptop for my husbands 3gs and my brother in laws iPhone 4. Neither of them ever had a problem syncing with itunes. When I tried I was told to uninstall itunes and reinstall a 64bit version. Took several attempts but I finally got it. Then it said that I needed to upgrade my apple mobile device support and for me to uninstall itunes again and reinstall it. I have done all of this several times and still cannot get it to work right. I have uninstalled every Apple software listed on my computer and had to reinstall it all. Help!!!!!!!

PES 2012 is no longer available in the US App Store and only on the British App Store currently.

That (an app no longer available) happens sometimes.
Your only way is if you have the appt on your computer such as in the recycle bin/trash or in a computer file backup. In that case move it to your iTunes library and sync.

When connecting my ipad mini to my lap top I keep getting an error message sugesting I need to install 64bit version of Itunes. I have done this repeatedly but the same message keeps recurring. Cananyone help? Thanks

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

I have the 64bit version of itunes on windows 7. When I connect my iphone5 it says that I don't have the correct software and that I need to install itunes 64bit! And I can go no further! I've uninstalled and reinstalled but it makes no difference. I have no access to other computers so at the moment I don't have a backup for my iphone should anything go wrong.
    Please Help!

    Hello ekbowers,
It sounds like you have installed the 64 bit version of iTunes, but you continue to the get an error message that suggests to download the 64 bit version any time you connect your iPhone 5.  I understand that you have already uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, but sometimes you may need to uninstall additional components related to iTunes to completely remove it from your system.
I recommend following the steps in this article to completely uninstall iTunes:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
Once you have completely uninstalled iTunes, you can download the 65 bit version of iTunes for Windows here:
    iTunes 11.0.4 for Windows 64

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

    Hello Negaz
When you uninstalled iTunes, did you uninstall it by using the article below or just uninstalled iTunes? The best practice is to remove not only iTunes, but also other associating software in the order that the first article give. If that does not work, then check out the second article for more troubleshooting options for connecting your iPhone to your computer.

    Can someone help me out?
    Thank you

To my knowledge there are no official MS Windows DVDs that contain both the 32 and 64 bit versions. There is a way to make a USB thumb drive that has both bit version on it but AFAIK this can't be done on a DVD disc even with a Dual Layer DVD disc.
For the Windows installer to function, actually boot the system to the install routine, certain files have to be on a certain area of the DVD disc. If by chance you really do have a DVD disc that contains both bit versions your Mac is only seeing the 32bit version on that disc.
You'll need to get a Real MS DVD of just the 64bit version or download the 64bit version ISO from My Digital Life and burn it to a DVD disc.

In fact i'm using a DVD with both 32 and 64-bit win7. But it's the only one I have. I don't want to install the newest Win 8.
So you're saying there is no solution for this?
Thank you so much for your response.

Is Adobe acrobat 6.0 CE compatibile with WIN 8.1 Pro 64bit version?

I don't think so.  You will probably not be able to activate that old of a version anyways due to it no longer having a supporting activation server.

  • 64bit version of Firefox soon?

I sometimes have a lot of tabs open in a window and Firefox doesn't seem to like that. Seems like a 64bit version would fix that issue, assuming memory limitations. I like Firefox and would like to continue using it, but would like a 64bit version.

That is something that has not had much work on it until recently.
IIRC work is being stepped up but I am not sure any Release is imminent.

  • XP 64bit version detection not working

None of the FAQs, tech notes or documentation explains how I can get the XP64 version of the iTunes installer - they only explain that I need it.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1426?viewlocale=en_US
This article implies that the itunes download page automatically serves the appropriate version based on your OS. It doesn't. I have tried it in IE7, Safari and Firefox 3. I have no other browsers. I am always served the 32bit version. It states in several places across the site that the 64bit version is called "iTunes864Setup.exe", but that isn't the version i'm given.
Can someone please give me a direct link to that exact file, as it seems quite clear that Apple are unwilling to do so themselves.

You need to download the Windows Vista 64-bit version of the installer and then click here for information.
