According to Apple.com there is discrepancy regarding to color display.

The palmOne Treo 650 is 65K, but does not provide satisfying video quality that 5g does.

IMac 20" with only 260,000 colors?
A German online magazine just reported (http://www.spiegel.de/netzwelt/tech/0,1518,544580,00.html) that the iMac 20" model can only display 260,000 colors due to a different TFT technology compared to the 24" model.
I am rather irratated as I wanted to buy a new iMac 20" model soon, and the Apple store says that even the 20" modell could display millions of colors.
Does onyone had the chance to compare both displays side by side for example at editing photos? The article says, serious and professional photo editing would not be possible with the 20" model.pEst31 wrote:

They don't specify like you did that it's not for serious and professional photo editing, they just say photo editing. So if I want to edit photos professionally, that makes it sound like I can! On top of that they advertise both screens as having millions of colours, so on this particular point, Apple has no defence if the 20" iMac has only thousands.
Of course the majority of LCDs used with PCs are the same lower spec panels; but at least their users can choose to upgrade.
The comments at AppleInsider on last weeks settlement were interesting reading. I.e. actually a display only shows shades of Red, Green and Blue and uses separation to trick your eyes into seeing other colour:

How do I transfer my checked songs from one computer to another - tried exporting library playlist etc but no luck! Please help! I have 26,000 songs - 17,000 are selected and I can't run down the list on my new computer and re-check 17,000 songs! Thanks!
Make a smart playlist of your whole library but only checked songs - #4 on http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1801
Highlight all files in that playlist, then drag to the other drive. This isn't preserving any playlists or whatever, just copying files from one drive to another.
You might want to delete the smart playlist this once you are done because it will probably gobble up resources with that many files. -
Firefox uses 100,000 K - 200,000 K memory even in safe mode; hangs and freezes periodically
In the past week or so I've been experiencing regular freezing and hanging, but only when Firefox is open. The freezing and hanging can affect other programs, but it always starts with Firefox. It can be either a) the browser stops responding, dims white, and the spinning circle appears, b) browser stops responding as does the task bar, can't click on any other open windows and sometimes the task bar dims as well, or c) the screen freezes entirely, with mouse movement not shown (although the mouse does move--it appears to freeze, but if I move it and wait, it'll be wherever I moved it) and if I was loading a page, the loading circle in the tab stops moving as well; it's as if a screenshot has been taken and replaced the screen.
I'm thinking this has to do with memory usage; Firefox uses 200,000 K memory normally, and starting in safe mode only drops it by 20,000 K - 30,000 K.Hello,

My Scenario is like this:*
Hi i have 2 fact tables fact1 and fact 2 and four dimension tables D1,D2,D3 ,D4 & D1.1 ,D1.2 the relations in the data model is like this :
NOTE: D1.1 and D1.2 are derived from D1 So D1 might be snow Flake.

There are various ways of handling performance issues if any in OBIEE.
Go for caching strategy for complete warehouse. Make sure to purge it after every data load..If you have aggr calculations at higher level then you can also go for aggregated tables in OBIEE for better performance.

Altering row limit from 5,000 to 1,000,000
I'm using Oracle SQL Developer Version 1.1.3. I have used the menu to get 1,000,000 rows as the result of my query but nothing appears. When I reduce that amount by a factor of 10 (but not more than 100,000), many data rows are suppressed. Please assist.SQL Developer

Yes, we do - check your worksheet preferences.
Max rows to print in a script: Limits the number of rows displayed.
Max lines in script output: Limits the number of lines output.
If you want a file, use the spool command and we'll write everything to the file regardless of that setting.
Neither of those 'suppress' any rows from a worksheet query for me.
Maybe we are talking about different things?
I read OPs post as performing a simple query in a worksheet:

I set both 'max rows' and 'max lines' values to 50 and exited then relaunched sql dev.
I used a worksheet and a simple SELECT * query to select ALL rows from a table with 4000+ rows. The result window shows them being fetched 50 at a time and NONE of them are suppressed as more and more groups of 50 (my array fetch size value in preferences) are fetched. and the result window fetches them 50 at a time just like the fetch value is set to.
No rows are being suppressed. If I do a CTRL-END and go to the END of the result set I see the end of ALL 4000+ rows - no limit of 50 and the count shows the correct total number of rows.
I don't know if OP is doing the 'script' thing you refer to - don't know for sure. The usual thing I see is someone not seeing a particular row in that first 20/30/etc that gets returned and wondering where it is. Usually it is because they think that a query will return the rows in the same order that the user inserted them - which it won't of course. -
New iMac, startup failure, question mark: TH00-9.000 TH0O-9.000

My new alu iMac worked for 3 weeks. Today it suddenly crashed. Now the boot process stops with a flashing question mark.
Disk Repair didn't find any harddisks to repair.
System Profiler stated "There was an error while scanning for Serial-ATA devices."
AHT reports the following error code: 4sns/1/40000000: TH00-9.000 harddisk failure.
The error appears during (or after) the main logic board test while the fans spin up.
Looking closely the space between the zeros in TH00 is significantly smaller. So maybe it's not a zero but an upper case O.Please look over the following Apple Advice letter:

My guess is the internal HD has crashed, this of course would be covered by your 1 year warranty so you should contact Apple immediately for repair. Please remember hard drives are not made by Apple and they do fail. Some last weeks some last 10 years, unfortunately they are very unpredictable. While this is frustrating this is why you have a warranty. If you have been using Time Machine then once the internal drive has been replaced restoring will be painless with TM.
If you have added an external HD or have a flash drive inserted in one of the USB slots that can confuse the machine so it doesn't know where the startup volume is. Try re-starting by holding down the Option key, if the machine sees start up disks it will highlight them, then choose the internal HD. Once the machine has started then go to System Preferences-Startup Disk and select the internal disk.
If that doesn't work please post back and let us know what happened. BTW you don't state where you are located but you may be covered by AppleCare. Look in your owners manual for the phone number in your area and contact Apple, you have 90 days of free telephone support.

True, PSB is the only format will take it to those limits, iirc. I didn't think he was anywhere near it. I wonder how portable it is? Do programs outside of Photoshop read it? I'm thinking if you needed it printed professionally.
What amount of ram should you have for a 10 GB psb? What is the recommended scratch space?

One thing about PSB is Mac/PC thumbnails. Since Apple is not rendering them yet. Quicklook does that. Ardfrey codec for Windows when you need it at the desktop level. -

I am working with images around 4,000 x 4,000 pixels. Upon resizing, images get pixelated. HELP!

What does "pixelated" mean? sorry, this is far too vague. Any resizing operation causes resampling no matter whether it's up or down, but specific procedures affect it more than others. Conversely even "scaling" your image in the comp preview to display it smaller in your comp at 50% or whatever res you use will introduce further artifacts, not to speak stuff to do with pixel aspect ratio conversions, hardware accelerated display and what have you... You need to provide a lot more info and screenshots. We don't even know what version of AE you are using on what system. As a start, set your comp res and zoom to 100% when you do your scaling and judge quality this way. Everything else would be pointless. If you still see issues, clarify and provide the necessary details.

sync between desktop and iPad
Sorry, been away for quite a while....to clarify....
When you sync photos from iTunes, you overwrite the last set of photos that you synced unless you select them to sync to the iPad again. All photos have to be included/selected in every sync, and if any photos are not selected to sync, those photos will be erased. Since the photos no longer exist on your Mac, it is impossible for them to reappear on the iPad when you sync again. You have nothing to worry about ad long as the photos have been deleted from the Mac. -

Aperture 3 hanging when working with 120,000 image library
I love Aperture. Have used Aperture since v1, now on 3, Snow Leopard 10.6.6. MacPro 3.0 with 20GB RAM and four 7200 3TB HDrives. Shoot a Nikon D3 and others.
I have a big referenced library running internally on Drive 2, images are internally on drive 4. About 120,000 in total, mostly RAW (NEF).
For some time I have had hangs, spinning ball. Some will clear, but most will not, requiring force quit.
I have repaired permissions, on hard drives as well as in Aperture.
Hangs happen when I click on a Folder, or sometimes when selecting image.
I moved everything to a Referenced system to correct this problem, but seemed to not solve things.
I do also use Aperture to catalog Photoshop files, so dont know whether this creates an increased RAM or CPU issue.
Have sent crash reports to Apple, but not heard back yet.
I shoot professionally, sometimes 2,000 per day, so need this to become more reliable.
Any suggestions.

I have found leaving the Activity Monitor on, where I watch the RAM / MEM usage, is a clue as to whether its still thinking.
I do the same. In addition to AM, I use +iStat Menus 3+, a nifty system-reporting menulet. Recommended (just a satisfied user).
I also need to tell you I do allow my assistant, using a 27"iMac, to access my MASTER LIBRARY from her computer. (Different Aperture 3 version, and mine is shut down).
Supposedly this is ok (acording to Apple) but I am v suspicious. Sometimes it takes forever to load, and I have seen "strange" things like keywords go missing.
Until you have everything working well ... can you refrain from opening your Library using different program installations? I think you are right to be suspicious. (And trouble-shooting strategy would favor limiting problems and then bringing things back as a way of isolating the cause.)

I don't think Library size is the problem.
I wish I could limit my Projects to 500 Masters, but most of the shoots I do are sports, where I will shoot 1,000 to 3,000 images in a day or two.
However, it can be done if this is the issue.
It could be voodoo, but it has become part of the more-or-less generally accepted best practices. You do know that in addition to selecting multiple Projects in order to see all of their images in the Viewer, you can also put Projects in a Folder and just select the Folder. Selecting a Folder in the Library Inspector will show the contents of all Projects and Albums "held" by that Folder. You might -- as an example -- make a Folder for a game, and then put each quarters' shots in its own Project.
I run dual monitors. HOWEVER, I am suspicious of my NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT card. 512 VRAM, 1920x1200 dual outputs. Not sure if this is my problem.
However, I can run Photoshop 5, DW5, InDesign, etc, along with the normal appls, with no problem. Sometimes I have 15-20 PSD files open, and I never use all my RAM.
I run huge Library on a machine w. 4 GB RAM. I don't think your RAM is the source of your problems.
I can't with any expertise address the issue of the video card. My hunch is that this is one of the rough edges of heavy Aperture use, but it's just a hunch.
Rejected/Trash. I find it takes forever to empty Aperture Trash. Have you found that> Did you know you have to empty twice, from Ap AND from OS10.6?
IME, it gets better if you do it often (all the way to system Trash). I have in past had to wait hours for the Aperture Trash to empty. Haven't seen that is a while, though.
Im going to try and move the MAIN LIBRARY to another, newer, drive. See if this works.
One of the biggest advantages will be the defragmentation of the hundreds of thousands of Library files.
I have wondered whether I should invest in a Solid State Internal drive.
Thoughts on that?
Go for it. I will buy one the day I can afford one. I am sure it is the very best performance investment you can make for Aperture.

In Lightroom 4:Mac OS 10.6.8. I have an expecially large image (scanned) which is 10,000 X 14,000. I have edited it but when I try to print or export the image, it starts to "Rendering Page" but gets stuck and is unable to complete the task before it times out. When I use normal sized photo images (raw), it works fine. I suspect the problem is related to the size of the file. Is there some way I can reduce the size of the image while in Lightlroom? Or is there any other solution?
You originally posted on a thread that really wasn't related to your problem, so I branched the discussion.
Check the Windows System Event Viewer to see the details of the crash, most importantly the name of the faulting module.
Most crashes on Open or Save are due to OS bugs (especially on MacOS) or bugs in third party extensions to the OS open and save dialogs. -

Leopard is still as completely broken here as it's been since the beginning. After a pause of a few weeks when I did a clean re-install of 10.5, it's back to the routine of multiple daily OS freezes.

I will be issuing a fix later this week. You can disasble this by removing the MT_iCal.MTExtra file from ~/Library/Mail/Bundles/MailTags Extras folder.
