65 OR 90 WATT AC ADAPTER FOR HP DV9000???

I aquired an HP DV9000 laptop, used, that came with the wrong AC adapter.  It fits loosely and frequently comes loosened to the point that I have to wiggle it for it to provide power. It quit providing power completely a few days ago.  I am done with that adapter.
I started using the AC adapter from my HP V5000 and it is perfect, it seems?  It fits perfectly and provides constant power to the DV9000.
However, it is a 65 watt adapter, model # PA-1650-02H.  I have seen sites advertising the DV9000 adapter as 65 watts and also 90 watts.  I have seen some sites list both models - DV9000 and V5000 - using the same adapter and some sites do not list both models using the same adapter.
I am thinking since the DV9000 is a more powerful laptop it is wiser to go with a 90 watt adapter.  I am getting so much conflicting info, so I am confused as to which to buy for the DV9000?????
Thanks for your input!!!!!!

Hi,
I have a DV9700t. The AC adapter is part number 393954-001 and the spare part number is 394224-001.
My adapter is rated at 19V DC @ 4.74 amps ( amps times volts equals wattage) which is 90 watts.
I have another laptop that has a 65 watt adapter and when the battery is run down the charger get fairly warm until the battery is fully charged.
My recommendation is to go with the 90 watt adapter/charger.  It will recharge your battery faster.

  • Is it possible to use old Apple Flat Panel Display (62 watt power adapter) with MacBookPro 13" Mid-2012 running 10.8.4? Tried mini display to VGA cable

Is it possible to use old Apple Flat Panel Display (62 watt power adapter) with a MacBookPro 13" Mid-2012 laptop?  Would like to use larger screen when working at home.  I have a mini display port to VGA cable and have tried to hook up the old display but it seems not to work.  When I try to activate the screen on the old display-- a window comes up in the MacBookPro and asks me if I want to shut down the computer.  What little I have read it that the MacBookPro had Thunderbolt and the old display may not be compatible?  Any assistance would be appreciated.

    11.09.12 22:16:06,148 ClamXavSentry[286]: I will quarantine infected files
This doesn't have anything to do with your problem, but it will likely cause other issues with your e-mail.
Here's my standard recommendation concerting the use of A-V software to deal with potentially infected messages:
Never use ClamXav (or any other A-V software) to move (quarantine) or delete e-mail. It will corrupt the mailbox index which could cause loss of other e-mail and other issues with functions such as searching. It may also leave the original e-mail on your ISP's e-mail server and will be re-downloaded to your hard drive the next time you check for new mail.
So, if you choose to "Scan e-mail content for malware and phishing" in the General Preferences, make sure you do not elect to either Quarantine or Delete infected files.
When possibly infected e-mail files are found:
Right-click/Control-click on either the infection or file name in the ClamXav window.
Select "Reveal In Finder" from the pop-up menu.
When the window opens, double-click on the file to open the message in your e-mail client application.
Read the message and if you agree that it is junk/spam/phishing then use the e-mail client's delete button to delete it (this is especially important when the word "Heuristics" appears in the infection name).
If you disagree and choose to retain the message, return to ClamXav and choose "Exclude From Future Scans" from the pop-up menu.
If this is a g-mail account and those messages continue to show up after you have deleted them in the above manner, you may need to log in to webmail using your browser, go to the "All Mail" folder, find the message(s) and use the delete button there to permanently delete them from the server.
To fix the corrupted mailbox index(es), highlight each one that was corrupted and choose Rebuild from the appropriate menu.

    yes.
"For instance If you have a MacBook (13-inch Late 2009) that normally uses a 60W adapter, you can also use an 85W adapter with that computer. You would not use a 45W adapter with that computer; it would not provide enough power for that MacBook. Using an adapter of higher wattage than the adapter that came with the computer will not cause the computer to charge more quickly or otherwise operate any differently than using the adapter that came with the computer. • Looking for Power adapter for 23"

I have this beautiful 23 Cinema display just looking at me wondering why I don't plug it in. Well....
I got a great deal off Ebay but it didn't come with the white box that connects the AC / wall cord into the monitor [the seller was upfront]. My local shops says they are on back order and it will be two weeks.
If anyone has an extra one, even if used, I will pay you for it. Thanks for reading, have a great day.

Ask your local shop whether they can get you the power adapter for the Cinema Display 30-inch. Although slightly larger in size and power capacity (160 watt vs 90 watt) it is backward compatible and works great. If you're anxious to get up and running then that is the way to do it.

  • Apple MagSafe Airline Adapter for MacBook and MacBook Pro

Does the Apple MagSafe Airline Adapter for MacBook and MacBook Pro work in cars to in the cigerete lighter and how does it work on a airoplane cause in airoplanes there is only a mike connection thats about it ?

This is an alternative solution that works great for me. I always carry a small and lightweight DC to AC converter with me in my case when I'm on the road. It's a Wagan Tech Smart AC 100 USB that I picked up at Costco for under 20 bucks. 100 watt capability and allows me to use all my electronics and chargers on the road. I can use it to charge the cellphone, laptop, ipod, etc.
Even includes a USB port on the side for charging USB based products and also includes the aircraft adaptor (and of course a cigarette lighter adaptor) and everything fits into a small cloth bag (included).
    http://www.wagan.com/htmls/detail-2382.html
The link is for the newer 120 watt version but it looks identical otherwise. If you don't have access to Costco then check the link provided for either direct purchase or the availability of other resellers. There's a "where to buy" tab at the top of the screen. Cheers!
P.S. I just noticed that you are from the U.K. I'm sure this will still work as your MacBook charger should autoswitch down to 110v input, you'll just need to make sure you have the North American plug installed. If not, I'm sure there are similiar DC to AC adaptors available in the U.K. Hope that helps!

    HI darkraken:
Thank you for your post:  I am pleased to assist you!
I am sending you the link to the Maintenance and Service Guide for your computer.  click here. If you notice on page nine, near the top, it lists your adapter as External 65-watt AC adapter with 3-wire power cord.   The one listed in the link should be just fine.

  • What's the power Adapter for Macbook pro 13inch Mid 2012

What's the power Adapter for Macbook pro 13inch Mid 2012 with core i-7, 2.9ghz, 8Gb ram?
AFAIK it should be a 60wat Megasafe power adapter.
But mine shipped with a 45Watt Megasafe. I got it as a Gift from my friend.
    Thanks in Advance.

This should be my Adapter right?
    Yes.
There is a drawback in addition to taking a longer time to charge up your MBP.  In unusual instances when using your MBP with power adapter attached, and running a very heavy load on the CPU/GPU, the MBP will require additional electrical resources in addition to what the power adapter can provide.  It will then draw upon the battery.  What this means is that using a 45 watt adapter, these conditions are more likely to occur.
Using a 45 watt adapter should not harm your MBP as such.
    Ciao.

  • 45 Watt vs 65 Watt Power Adapter

Does anyone out there know if you can use a 65 watt power adapter with a 800MHz iBook in place of the intended 45 watt power adapter without damaging the computer?
I know the specs are 24 volts and 1.875 amps for the 45 watt adapter versus 24.5 volts and 2.65 amps for the 65 watt version.
    Your help is greatly appreciated.

Davida444, Welcome to the discussion area!
The wattage is different and your computer
will run very hot - its like having a lamp that says
use only 50 watt bulbs and you do a 75 watt bulb and
    eventually the thing shorts out.
Your analogy is incorrect. In this situation it is
more like having a car that can go 120 mph but you
only need to go 65 mph. There is extra ability but it
does no harm. In fact having the extra rating will
mean that the charger runs cooler than the original
    one.
I had to replace my 45w adapter and was told by Apple that a 65w one would work. Since using it, the battery icon has been slowly reducing in percentage. At first it was around 57% and although I only use the computer when connected to the mains, it now sits at 1% where it has remained for the last several days. I don't want to buy a new battery if the same thing will happen and I have noticed thatb the undrside of my laptop is getting very warm.
    Any advice is appreciated

  • Mag safe adapter for macbook pro 15 inch mid 2009 model

is it safe to  use a 60 watts mag safe adapter for my macbook pro 15 inch mid 2009 model. i went to istore to have a battery replacement and they advice me to change my 60 watts mag safe to 85 watts because it is not compatible.....

    use the 85w charger.
"Power adapters for Intel-based Apple notebooks are available in 45W, 60W, and 85W varieties. Although you should always use the proper wattage adapter for your Apple notebook, you can use an adapter of a higher wattage without issue.
For instance If you have a MacBook (13-inch Late 2009) that normally uses a 60W adapter, you can also use an 85W adapter with that computer. You would not use a 45W adapter with that computer; it would not provide enough power for that MacBook. "

  • Wrong 'mini dvi to video' adapter for my 12" Powerbook 1.33

I recently bought the M9319 mini dvi - video adapter for my 12" Powerbook 1.33 to find that the mini dvi on the adapter is a different size to the one on the computer and the adapters supplied with the computer.
I've been doing a bit of research into this and it seems a bit of a grey area. Apple have not made it clear in advertising this product that it is only suitable for the newest 12" Powerbooks and even state that it will work with a 1.33 machine in their following article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86507
Has anyone had a similar experience, or suggest an alternative product that will work? Did Apple make an older version that works with the 1.33?
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Graeme.

Just took the adapter to my local Apple store and they identified it as a mini VGA to video adapter - not what it said on the packaging!
I've noticed a few posts with this problem, so just double check before you leave the store that the packaging matches the product.

  • Apple dvi to video adapter for macpro working?

    hallo,
is it possible to use the adapter for the geforce 7300 in the macpro for pal video output? will it work? the apple store lists the adapter only for g5 and mini, but i see no reason, why it shoud not work with the gforce...
    any idea? thank you.

    macpro   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

I have wondered about that G5 support since others have had bad luck with Nvidia boards and the video adapter. e.g. it doesn't work with the 7800GT, which is a G5 board. All current ATI cards on their web-site show support for it but the MacPro card is not on ATI's site.
The adapter seems to have disappeared from the displays section of the Apple Store.
Another option is a VGA to video adapter
    <http://www.ramelectronics.net/html/PC-TVvideoadapter.html>
It costs more, but does a lot more, and should work with any video card.

  • Could I have got a new power adapter for free?

My power adapter for my mac stopped working recently and as far as I know I didn't cause any damage to it myself.
I read the following on the apple website:
    Additional Information
Whether your product is in or out of warranty, you can take your adapter to an Apple Authorized Service Provider or Apple Retail Store for evaluation and replacement if necessary. Pending the results of evaluation, you may or may not be eligible for a replacement adapter free of charge. Signs of accidental damage would negate any coverage. Be sure to bring in the computer used with the adapter; it is required to process potential adapter replacements.
Which seems to suggest that even out of warrenty, if the charger has broken of it's own accord you can still get a free replacement?
I took my adapter and mac to the shop, they said there were no signs of accidental damage but said I still have to pay for it. I referred to this statement from the website but they were very dismissive and kept saying it was out of warrenty. Perhaps i'm reading the statement wrongly.
Just wondered if anyone could clarify :-)

As you indicated, it depends on the results of the evaluation.
Apple takes responsibility when design faults cause certain failures, especially when it represents a safety concern. There have been a small number of cases where failure met certain characteristics that Apple deemed that it should not have happened, regardless of age or use.
I am reluctant to indicated the specificity of some of these issues, because for many reasons Apple would not want us speculating on the subject. Suffice it to say your product failure may not have met any particular characteristics associated with failures deemed to have extended coverage.
If your product failed for an unknown reason, or apparently a failure stemming from age or normal life expectancy use, and it was after the normal expiry of warranty, then no further consideration was given. You need to buy and pay for a new one, unless you yourself, can provide extenuating circumstances to consider.
