650 1 gig vs 650 2 gig

I recently purchased a Pavilion Quad edition, fully customized and decked out. However, when I was choosing the gpu card, it neglected to change from the 650 1 gig up to the 2gig. What I'd like to know is just how much of a difference is this going to make performance-wise and if I should replace the laptop or not. I am a bit of a gamer but I don't game often (these days). Games that I used to play include Just Cause 2, Skyrim, Bad Company 2, Batman Arkham Asylum and City. At the very least, these games need to be able to play well because I freakin love them ._.

My apologies, I meant to include an answer to that question in addition to the information I provided. I still believe you may be better off, if it is an option for you, to get the best video card you can in the beginning in the long run.
This might not be the answer you are looking for, but it really depends on the game itself. Some games work fine with less than 1GB of video memory while others need 1GB as a minimum. It ranges from game to game and from studio to studio. My advice is to look at some of the games you are interested in and compare the system requirements to your system. Most provide a minimum requirement with a recommended specifications list. I would compare your system to the recommended list.
For me, I always opt for the most I can get in a video card for the long run. What may work today for games may not provide the same experience for games a year from now. For the time being, I do have a 1GB video card in my desktop at home (the card is about two years old) and it is still providing satisfactory performance today. However, it is a desktop so it does work differently than a video card in a notebook.

Things have been running a bit slowly on my mac of late, several months after having installed 8 gig of fresh ram

Good evening, folks.
I'm running with a 13 inch 2011 macbook pro. Some months ago, I upgraded from 4 to 8 gigs of ram. Things were snappy and running very smoothly, however, over the past several weeks or so, I've noticed a decline in efficiency. I do run my chrome browser constantly, usually itunes is open, but beyond that my applications are open only when they are in use. I do have usually 2-3 spaces available as organization of my display. I've ran an EtreCheck report, however, I don't know how to interpret it. Any help?

By cable standards it's not very fast. Assuming it runs at top speed with no hiccups at either end you can download about 650 KB/s. So, that suggests it will take a little over two hours. Of course transfers are rarely ever perfect, so could take more than two yours, realistically. My pipe is about four times faster than yours, and I've seen the download take twice as long as it "should."

Is it really possible to upgrade from a Treo 650 to a Treo 750?

I am not a very happy customer at the moment, but any help would be greatly appreciated. I upgraded from my old Palm Tungsten to a Zire, then to a Cingular Treo 650, combining three devices into one. I have since discovered that the Treo 650 seems to have a faulty transmission mode, as I can rarely be clearly understood by whomever I call. Am on the second (or third, I have lost track) and continue to have the same problem. I get five bars of reception but can't be understood on the other end. A bit of a problem when one is trying to call 911. Am constantly told I am "breaking up". The repair shop says it "Can't duplicate the problem". OK, then I do not want to give up all the info I have stored in the fool thing, and the 750 seems to have a different system, so I thought I would try that. All the stuff I could find seemed to indicate it wouldn't be a problem to upgrade. When the 750 arrived, I tried to install the software from the CD on my Windows XP computer. No dice. Setup encounters an error and closes. Can't even look at the files, because setup tries to run any time I access the CD. From any drive. Gave it to my girlfiend to check on her computer, and the CD seemed to run fine. Other CDs work just fine on my computer. Must be some kind of conflict, but what? Tried calling the AT&T number that suggested they could help with setup, and was first connected to the business center, they routed me to the laptop center, who routed me to the network center, who said they would have to bring in the Palm customer service and connected me to a Mac guy that dumped me back to a menu that took me to someone for whom English is a second language with whom I was trying to communicate over a very poor satellite connection. They made no sense anyway. telling me first that I couldn't have two desktops running (wrong, my girlfriend has my old Zire and the CD worked fine) and then insisting that the serial number on my device had to start with a P, when it clearly does not have any alpha characters in it. Gave up on that route of assistance. Managed to get the new ActiveSync installed from my girlfriends computer over the network. Great. Now let's get my 650 synced with Outlook (which I have not used at home) and see if we can move on. Nope. First I have to update Outlook 2000 from the old Win98 to my current XP. Find the old CD, and square that away. OK, now sync to Outlook. Nope. The sync program gives an error, saying it will only sync with Outlook 98, 2000, and XP(2002). Good grief. I have Outlook 2000, and the software apparently does not recognize it. If the Palm doesn't work, there is no reason for me to keep this phone, and I am very close to returning it and abandoning the Palm entirely when I upgrade to something that works, although I dread re-entering all that information.

Thanks for the feedback. Today I installed an Enterprise version of Office 2007 I purchased a while back, but had not yet installed. Microsoft presented a few challenges, but they were quickly resolved. I then downloaded the appropriate conduit from Palm, and synced the 650 with the handheld overwriting the computer. Then used Active Destop to sync the 750. Satisfied I had moved as much info as possible, I called AT&T and had them move the phone number to the new Treo.
Bonus! When the guy at AT&T called me on the new phone to verify it, he said it sounded better than my landline.

Hello mlazaretti. Vacation time is awesome. (Especially a road trip!) Since you will be going out for two weeks, you never know if having extra data may come in handy. I highly recommend switching to the next tier up so this way you have more data. This way it is only $10.00 more versus $15.00, and you dont have to worry about overages. Then change back at the start of the next billing cycle.

If I were you I'd install a small SSD as the boot drive from OWC:

Then put a second large conventional drive either in the optical bay (Data Doubler) or in an external.
You don't say which MBP you have: Size, CPU type.
Also when you upgrade you could see if you can salvage your data from your old HD. Can you hear it spin up? If so Data Rescue IV.

FYI: I have been using boot camp with windows 7 and started getting a kernal_data_Page_error and it would reboot windows, i was trying to do a chkdsk on the next reboot, but thats when i started getting this issue. Prep your new drive:
Drive Preparation
1. Boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID (for Intel Macs) or APM (for PPC Macs,) then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
After formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer. Install OS X.

Can anyone help me get a HotSync between a Treo 650 (Verizon) and a PC running Windows Vistra to exchange Calendar/Date Book data?

For whatever it is worth, I've had no Hotsync problems with the Address Book, To Do List, or Memo Pad Apps. I upgraded from the Beta version of Palm Desktop for Windows Vista to Palm Desktop by Access, Version 6.2.2 late last summer. HotSyncing worked fine for all Apps for a few days, but Date Book Syncs have failed since 09/16/08, as shown in the abbreviated log shown below:

To the best of my recollection, the 9/16/08 Date Book HotSync failure shown above roughly coincided with the onset of similar failures when I have attempted to HotSync the same Treo with the Windows XP Pro box I use at work. I don't know whether the HotSync failure on the Windows Vista Box I have at home preceded the failure on the XP box I use at work or vice versa, but I have to wonder if a HotSync failure for an App on one box can trigger similar failures for the same App when one attempts to HotSync it on other boxes. I've trolled this help forum and haven't found any leads. I really need to get my calendars at work and home back on the same page, so I would greatly appreciate suggestions. jfzaehringer

There may be database corruption causing the issue. Click on the following link for the program called DbFixiT. This program has a trial version that you can download and install on your Palm OS device. The trial version will scan for database corruption and then report the corruption. You can then find the records causing the problem and fix them yourself or you can purchase the program and have it automatically fix the records.

P55 GD80 and i5 650

hey everyone .... I just picked on this system board (P55 GD80 and i5 650) off eBay, after set up on the system, I when to install windows 7 at first it did not see my USB key (used to install windows 7) due to the fact I don't have a CD-ROM.
After a lot reading I seen somewhere that it was due to the BIOS ver. so I updated it to lasted ver. Ok so now it boot to USB key and windows install starts, but about 45 sec into the install it lock up.
I have checked the BIOS and made sure it was set to IDE and that the harddrive was working (tried 2) same issues. at this time I'm trying trouble shoot if it the CPU or systemboard. I ran memtest for 36m with no lockups, also used the USB flash thingy off the forums that took a little time it self. With no lock ups. It can set in BIOS all day and is fine ..... the mim. I try to install window BOOM lock up.....
any ideals?

Can you just do a careful CPU socket inspection in terms of bent pins. Its a long shot, but have a look.
If you knew someone that had a P55 board, then you could at least have tried to boot it with that persons harddrive.
The fact that it does read the USB and see it makes me believe that the USB ports are not dead and that this may be a HDD issue. Your Windows gets stuck at the point where it tries to start installing on the HDD. Either your HDD connections need to be rechecked or you may indeed have a defective SATA port controller.
Have you tried different SATA cables and different SATA ports ?
- Supports six SATAII ports by P55
- Supports two SATAII ports by JMicron 322, support SATA RAID 0/1/JBOD
Ensure that your SATA drive is connected to one of the Intel P55 SATA ports for initial installation.

i am a newbie and i apologize in advance for my ignorance.
i am now on my second treo 650. both have had the same problem. i am not getting all my texts from other verizon friends. on their phone it says it went though, but i never receive it. on my old phone i could take out my battery and then it would come through after the phone restarted, not so on my replacement. i am just not getting them. the sound on my sms is not working all the time either.
i am getting a little frustrated considering i pay for texts i am not getting and i never know i am not getting them until someone asks me why i didn't respond!

Macbook Air memory is soldered to the logicboard.
You can only get 4GB or 8GB (2012 Models) in the Air when you order it that way. Otherwise, you're stuck with 2GB.
