6500 classic - becoming hot and battery life

Anyone else finding that their 6500 becomes hot near the earpiece during calls and that the battery life is very poor - I get only about 24 hours on stanby with very minimal use and all the usual power hungry elements already turned off.
I have already had it looked over and repaired by my operator but still same problems.
anyone had similar issues and resolved them?

Yes. I had my 6500 slide in Steel delivered just over a month ago and had read many worrying reviews about the battery life. I'd also read many reviews that said the opposite though.
After carefully charging the Li-Poly battery for a good 16 hours on the first charge, the phone managed a paltry 24 hours just like yours. I continued for 6 days completely discharging the phone and then recharging it fully to no avail. I turned off all the power hunger features (3G, Bluetooth, Screensaver etc ) and turned on the power saving mode. Still nothing.
I called my operator who claimed they'd never heard of this sort of problem. I demanded a replacement battery immediately, which duly arrived two days later. Transit seemed to have scuffed the edges of this battery as it had simply been thrown in a paper envelope (no bubble wrap) but I noticed it was a Li-Ion battery unlike the Li-Poly that Nokia issued in the box.
This has TRANSFORMED the battery life. It will run for up to 6 days with normal use eg. Permanent standby, a few calls, lots of music on the commute, some texting and the odd Photo (I'm impressed with the camera).
Get a replacement battery ASAP, I'd go for the older LI-ION even though it's a bit heavier. With all the Stainless Steel you don't notice.

this happened to me a while back, even after replacing my battery. what might be happening is that there is a print job waiting in the que which could be hogging up a lot of CPU (why this happens is beyond me)
anyway, the way i fixed my issue was going into the activity monitor and sorting the processes by CPU load. if you see something taking up 95% of it, try and quit the process. my battery life jumped back up to 3 hours after that

I have the above phone its over a year old, the last 4 days the battery life is awful lasting about 4 hrs max if I don't send or receive calls less if I do. I have to keep charging it and when I put it in my pocket it feels really warm/hot? Try Backing Up and Restoring your device via iTunes first, it could be a software issue causing the phone to work harder than it needs too.

Make an appointment at the genius bar and get the phone replaced. It will cost you US$149 for an out of warranty replacement.

After updating my iPhone 4s to iOS 6.1, my phone runs hot and battery life is down to only a few hours. Any idea how to fix?

I installed iOS 6.1 to my iPhone 4s and the next day, the battery drained in about 6 hours, where it used to last all day or longer. I also noticed today that it is running very hot. I disabled location services to see if that would help but it doesn't seem to be making a huge difference. Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks!!

I have the same problem since updating to 6.1.1. The battery has never been great but since the update it is ridiculous. It drains by 40% in an hour with no use at all and all background programmes closed.

Help! This new version of Lion is making me miserable. The fan runs constantly, the computer is hot and battery life has dropped to under 2 hours on a fully charged battery. I updated yesterday, nothing but misery today. Even running the mail program alone make the fan run like I have everything open. Using Pages, iPhoto, and iTunes simultaneously makes the computer blistering hot.Yesterday, I could use all three without any trouble. Any suggestions to either jettison 10.7.3 or how to fix without any expense? I updated to Lion 10.7.3 and started noticing my fans running on high all the time and my battery would drain 2-3x faster. I was going to take my computer into an Apple store until I found this thread. I did the SMC reset by shutting down my computer, plugging it in, and then pushing down shift+control+option while also pushing down the power button. Nothing happens on the screen and the computer did not turn on. I then released all the buttons at once after holding them down for 10 seconds.
After that, I simply turned my computer back on and everything seems to be working fine. The fans are not blasting anymore. I have a newer MacBook Pro where I can't access my batteries. The SMC reset may differ for other types of laptops.

IPhone become hot and the battery drop

My iPhone is having problem. My iPhone is 3Gs, 32 GB, OS 4.2
My problem is: the phone suddenly become hot and make the battery drop, and it's already happened for 1,5 weeks. It seems my iPhone is reading something (perhaps some application) but I don't know what.
Can someone help me?

There is some application that is stuck trying to send data. The most common app to have this problem is email, but first try a full reset (if you haven't already: Hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons until an Apple logo appears, ignoring "Slide to power off",
If this doesn't fix it next try the following:
Go into Settings/Mail,Contacts,Calendar. Tap each email account that uses PUSH and turn it off (turn off the ACCOUNT, not PUSH). Close Settings and open the email account; verify that the account does not appear. Then exit Mail to the Home screen and do a reset again.
Once the phone comes back on go into Settings and turn the email accounts back on. Fully charge the phone and test it again.
If you still have a problem you may have to restore the phone. Connect to iTunes and click the Restore button. If you have previously restored or updated and that did not fix it this time set up as a new phone.

Firmware Upgrade and Battery Life?

Since the firmware upgrade on my Macbook in early February the fan appears to be running at full speed all the time and battery life is crap! Has anyone else noticed this? Is there a fix/workaround available please?

Sounds more like an app stuck processing that shouldn't be....does happen from time to time. Behing hot means it is constantly processing.
To fix:
Try a reboot (described below).
Think of it this way, the iPhone is more of a computer than a phone. It suffers from being a new OS and nobody can deny there are not bugs and memory leaks. The longer left running, the more things start to fail or slow down (I have had the iPhone since day one of original phone and I am just speaking from my experience). Thus I equate it to like when Windows95 came out...not sure of your age or if you remember those days...but back then it was a running joke of how many days you can keep Windows 95 running before you had to reboot. I am sorry to say but the iPhone is the same way right now (but getting better with a few hiccups back during the 2.0 release). So for me, I reboot daily when I leave in the morning and take it off the charger. By doing so I rarely see any lag or problems.
A reset/reboot is:
Go to Home Screen
Press and Hold Home Button
Keep holding and press and hold Lock Button
Keep holding Both
You will see Slide to Turn Off (Don't let go to slide, just keep holding)
The phone will turn off (in time, but screen will look like it has some white lines)
Keep Holding
When you see the Apple Logo, you can let go.
Turning off via the Slide to Turn off while good and fine to turn off, is more like the Sleep Mode on a computer. Thus any locked up issues in memory remain when you turn back on. A reboot as described is like doing a real Turn off and Turn On on a computer.

Do Not post stuff about how Airplay doesnt work, because i dont have Apple TV and dont need to hear about it.

If you have an external drive equal to or larger than your internal HD, clone your internal to it with either Carbon Copy Cloner or Super Duper. Test the clone to make sure it's bootable. Then upgrade either one. Try it out first.

Well, you don't say what happens when you try to delete the account. So I don't know what else to recommend. However, if your phone is not charging, is that the mains charger or the computer USB? Also, if it not showing any change to battery percentage, then something is wrong with the software. The next step in user troubleshooting after the reset is a restore from backup. However, considering the condition of the phone right now, I would be more than willing to say your backup is going to be corrupt. But you can try. If that does not fix the device, then you restore as new, not from a backup. If the phone works, then you can try restoring the backup again, but if it messes up, you are going to have to restore as new again. If the restore as new does not work, then you need to make an appointment at the Genius Bar or Authorized Apple Service Provider to get the hardware checked.

Settings>Notifications>[Turn off any notifications you don't need]
Settings>General>Software Update (Make sure you're up to date)
Settings>Brightness & Wallpaper> Auto-Brightness on (And that your brightness is not to the max)
Settings>Privacy>Location Services>Turn off/Stop apps from using it
Settings>Bluetooth>Off
Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Fetch New Data>Manually
Settings>Wi-Fi> Off (When you don't need internet when you're out and about)
To stop overheating, note these:
Operating Temperatures: 0° to 35° C (32° to 95° F)
Non-Operating Temperatures: -20° to 45° C (-4° to 113° F)
