6500 classic-Profiles problem

Hello.
I buy my Nokia 6500c and i am very happy and satisfied. But!!!My Profiles(General,Silent etc)settings are constantly going crazy. All the time, all tones that i assigned to some profiles are no longer assigned to same profiles and i must do that all over again...All Profiles settings from time to time are going to Nokia automatic settings...What should i do???My curent software version is 3.21 .Thanks

Full reset & formatting will surely erase data, but I don't think the codes will work on that phone because it works only in S60 series.
Try removing battery for 15mins & putting it back if it will solve the problem. If not install your pcsuites then go to internet & check if you have a software upgrade for your phone, & upgrade it thru software updater. This will surely install a fresh firmware in your phone resetting also to factory. But have a backup of your phone first by use of pcsuites.

  • 6500 Classic Bluetooth Problem - 'error copying fi...

    Hi,
I seem to have hit a bit of a problem with my Nokia 6500c and have really been struggling to find a solution.
My desktop PC (Windows XP)has a USB Bluetooth Dongle which was initially used with Microsoft Drivers. Everything worked fine and I was able to transfer files both to and from the 6500c, however, the Microsoft Drivers seemed to only offer limited facilities.
I therefore installed the software / drivers provided with the dongle - Widcomm / Broadcom. Again everything appeared to work fine however, when I 'right click' any file on my PC and select 'send to bluetooth device - Nokia 6500' I receive a message 'error copying file'.
The devices have been succesfully paired and if I browse the phone's files and copy / paste or drag and drop the same file to no errors occur.
Everthing else on the bluetooth connection works without a problem.
    Any suggestion would be appreciated.

    Hi Yoshi,
Thanks for the reply - the Microsoft drivers / software were fully unistalled before I installed the Widcomm / Broadcom software and drivers. When using the microsoft package the dongle shows as a bluetooth radio device, installs 'darfon' drivers for the bluetooth device and uses generic microsoft drivers for the bluetooth enumerator. The Widcomm / Broadcomm package recognises the dongle as simply a bluetooth device with all facilities operating under broadcom drivers.
I actually think the problem relates to the make of dongle and the 6500c not being fully compatable as I have now tried using the Widcomm software with other phones and a laptop all of which are fine. I have also tried using the phone with other PCs which are not using the microsoft package and all is fine.
The dongle I am using is:-

  • 6500 classic microUSB problem

Hello. I think I have problem with microUSB connector. I think that it's worn out. Sometimes my connection to PC is breaking (device sometimes disconnects/connects), and sometimes earphones stop playing music, and start playing on phone speakers until I twist the cable a bit.
More recently I started having troubles charing my phone, since microUSB is the only connector on it. I thought I was having troubles with the charger, or with the battery, I even bought brand new charger, but the phone sometimes charged fully in matter of 2 hours, and sometimes I leave it over night, and it only charges a bit.
So, is there a way to repair/replace micro USB connector on this phone?

you will have to take it to nokia care and get assistance there. it does sound like the port itself might have gotten worn out.

  • 6500 Classic contacts problem

    Hi there,
I recently updated my firmware to v 06.61. This apparently removed all of my contacts from the phone. When i connect to PC suite however, it brings up all of my old contacts again. I didn't perform a backup before updating.
When I check the memory status, neither the phone nor sim registers additional contacts.
Is there a way of putting these again on my phone?
    Thanks.

    @n4cer
when u do a software update, all the data is wiped out in most cases which is y ur prompted to do a backup b4 updating.
the only other thing i can think of is if u have a copy of ur contact in microsoft outlook or lotus notes. if u do, then u can sync them into ur phone using the nokia pc suite
unfortunately, if u dont have a copy in any of those items above and dont have a back up anywhere, u will not be able to retrieve the data
u will have to key them all in again
if my post helped u out, please click the Star next to it to add some KUDOS to my name

  • 6500 classic - security settings problem

I have Nokia 6500 classic and I have a little problem with it. When I go to the Security settings menu Security module settings is not active. When I push on it it tells me to Insert security module. Can someone explain to me what should I do because there is nothing in the users manual about the security options.
    Thank you in advance!!!

If you don't have a security module (not many people do) then you will never need to use this option.
Security modules are expensive and are used by certain agencies that need heavily encrypted lines.

(1st make sure your finger is not covering the flash when taking pictures )
    1. Software version of your phone (press *#0000#)

  • 6500 Classic Problems

    Hello everyone!
My 6500 classic keeps turing its self off - usually during a call - for no aparant reason. It also keeps on losing reception when I'm not using it and then starts searching for reception again until it finds it?
It will do this once or twice a minute and then will work fine for hours on end before deciding to go a bit crazy again!
I have recently had the screen replaced after it cracked (without having actually been touched) but apart from that the phone has always worked fine and it has been treated well.
If you have any ideas about how I might fix it or what might be wrong with it I would greatly appreciate hearing from you!
    Cheers
    Jon

yes this is excatly my thought your better of going to a nokia care centre, than some guy that does unwarrantied work, this is why i asked where you got the screen done ,so its a trip to a nokia care centre to be fixed properly
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.
    Now using the Lumia 1520

  • Nokia 6500 classic Remote Simm Problem

I have a nokia 616 car kit and when I try and pair the 6500 it goes into remote sim mode, where I want to use Hands free but cannot find anywhere to chnage this.
Any help how to turn it off the nokia 6500?
    thanks in advance

The speakers on the 6500's are rubbish. Have got 5 X 6500 slides and 1 X 6500 classic at work. All have had both the speakers replaced, a couple twice, plus other issues.

  • 6500 Classic Menu Item Freeze

    Hi
I cannot change the ring tone on my 6500 Classic because the 'Personalise' option under each Profile choice does not work and causes the phone to freeze. This also happens with the 'Groups' option under Contacts. The only way to clear the freeze is to press the red on/off button, which takes me back to the welcome screen
Does anyone else have this problem?
These are the fixes I have tried so far:
    * Switch off and on
    * Remove battery and sim, then turn on
    * Check and update firmware/software to v3.21 (latest)
    Regards
    Paul

You could try "Reset to Factory Defaults" command first to normalize your phone settings.
Do you use any passwords/security codes on your phone or memory card? Try removing them first, restarting and then attempt to customize again.
Problem could also be caused by referenced objects (i.e. tones) that are corrupt or that no longer exist in the expected location (i.e. folder on memory card). If you have a card reader, try running a "Check Disk" command on your memory card by using a computer to fix any data problems that may be present on the SD media itself. =)

  • MAC osx SUPPORT for 6500 classic

i am a new owner for the 6500 classic and wondered why nokia dont list this phone under the mac support?
does any one have any recommendations of software/plugins i can download for mac tiger 10.4 that will sync with ical etc etc but that will work with a wide range of phones? or a generic syncing software. most dont seem to support the 6500 !!

I have downloaded two third party plugins, one from NOVA, only to find out that they don't work with iSync 3.0. Nokia of course told me it would not be a problem to get a plugin!!! Does anyone know where it's available?

  • Nokia 6500 classic & BMW

I have just received a nokia 6500 classic from Father Xmas! I specifically asked for this phone as I have an 07 reg BMW 3 series and the 6500 was recommended by them as a good phone to bluetooth with the car - also they supply a charging/USB cradle for this model. Anyway I have successfully managed to pair the phone and car but cannot get any of the numbers in the address book to bluetooth across. This means that I can't look up a number whilst driving but have to manually look up the number on the phone, write it down then dial in using the communication option in the car - not so good when travelling down a motorway.
I've noticed that someone else has asked a similar question about a Tom Tom but no reply was posted.
Any ideas/suggestions will be gratefully received!

You might want to check the BMW Bluetooth compatibility list. It is available at the bmw web site. The list contains the supported phones, features and firmware levels.
I have a 2006 BMW 5 Series, a 6500c and the BMW-Snap-In adapter cradle and the latest bmw-software in the car. Phone numbers work fine but the phone resets sporadically when plugged in the cradle.
Very annoying situation, since both BMW and Nokia blame the other party for the problem. I've told the BMW dealer that I'm completely sick of Bluetooth and my next car will definititly require a fixed phone implementation.
    Cheers,
    Lars

  • Nokia 6500 classic is being an Pain!

I've had a Nokia 6500 classic for a few months now and the main charger wont charge the phone. But on top of this the USB charger only charges the phone to about half way and then stops. Any ideas on how to get this phone charged, the only options I know is get a new charger or send the phone for repair, but I'm trying to avoid these if there is some other way.
    Cheers,

  • Color profile problem/question.

These two exports of the same file were taken on my spouse's D300s, and are good examples of a profile problem I cannot seem to solve.  This is the identical problem I also experience on the Nikon D700 and D3.  The following was exported with the "Camera Standard" profile, and notice the yellow sun reflection on the door panels:
The following was exported with a xrite generated lightroom profile. Notice the better overall contrast, but also the horrendous unnatural yellow on the same door:
This difference causes all sorts of distortion in natural animal hair that contains any red-orange.  I use these doors  because they are such a stark example.  Any attempts to correct with the WB will usually result in too much blue elsewhere.  Also I have created many test profiles under many light conditions (both manually and from LR), and they all cause this problem in all three cameras.  This is not a matter of one bad cameral, or one erroneously created profile.
I have two questions:  Does this example show up well enough to see what I am talking about?   If so, can anyone speculate as to the problem or solution?  Even guesses would be appreciated since I am out of my own, and not expert in this sort of thing.   Thanks!

George, thank you for this information. I have a couple of things for you to try and another question. The ColorChecker Passport color patches are small, so I would suggest trying to reshoot a calibration image with the ColorChecker Passport in the center and filling at least 1/3 of the picture width. In the image you provided the ColorChecker Passport is about 1/8 the image width and far left of center. I know, I know, it should not matter, but give it a try. This is what I'm doing to create camera profiles for all three of my camera bodies (Canon 300D, 600D, 5D MKII), and I have not had a single problem with "color matching" using this procedure AND what I will describe next.
Concerning white balance procedure you say:
Using the grey card of the same product placed just outside the subject crop.
I assume you are referring to the large 60% reflectance white balance card on one side of the ColorChecker Passport, but you do not mention how you set white balance. I suggest using the LR white balance eyedropper tool with the smaller 80% reflectance gray scale patch on the ColorChecker Classic target side. This is the 2nd patch from the left bottom in your picture right next to the brightest 90% white patch. Two reasons for doing this! A higher reflectance patch reduces the influence of camera noise in the image with the LR 5 x 5 pixels eyedropper tool. Here's a LR forum post with a heated discussion on these issues (or lack thereof): http://forums.adobe.com/thread/854734?tstart=60 The second purely empirical reason is the "Classic" target side provides me with more accurate white balance than using the larger 60% card. Perhaps this is a defect with my ColorChecker Passport target, but I don't know.
When setting white balance with the LR eyedropper tool I suggest taking at least five (5) samples of the 80% patch. I use the center, TL, TR, BR and BL corner areas of the patch. Do not use any reading that has a large variation from the others. Please remember that the eyedropper tool is sampling a very small 5 x 5 (25 pixels) area, and image noise or a target paint defect can give you a bogus reading. Write down the temp and tint for each of the five (5) readings, add them, and divide by five to get the "average" white balance temp and tint. Enter the temp and tint values manually into the white balance tool. I create a user preset for each profile which contains only the ColorChecker created camera profile and manually adjusted white balance settings.
I would also suggest you check the readings of all six (6) grayscale patches for neutrality (R=G=B) using your new camera profile and white balance settings. I have found in some cases using the 65% reflectance patch (3rd patch in) provides the most neutral “overall” white balance setting for the six (6) patches. This is despite the fact it contains more camera noise than the 80% patch next to it. Again, this observation is purely empirical – I am not writing a scientific thesis! It works for me and hopefully it will get you closer to what you want.
One thing I am going to do tomorrow is borrow a friends color checker to rule out the possibility mine is defective. It doesn't look defective, but the problem is so consistent.
This is a very good idea! Having worked in a manufacturing environment for over 45 years, trust me when I tell you defective product from even the largest company ends up in the consumer’s hands. Please let us know what you find.

  • Nokia 6500 classic, GPRS always connected?

I recently purchased a nokia 6500 classic on Three,
There is always a G in a box at the top of the screen.
Ive looked in the manual it means that there is a GPRS connection estabiashed, Ive looked through the settings i cant find any options.
how do i turn off the connection?

I've got the self same problem (same phone, same network).
You *should* be able to disable this, there's a menu option and everything, but it doesn't work (for me at least).
I've come to the conclusion that it's a fault with the firmware.
Don't expect a fixed version any time soon (if at all).
Be wary about beating your head against the brick-wall that is their *cough* customer services department. They've made me practically livid (and I'm generally a quite mild mannered person) by telling me all kinds of cr...rubbish about why this connection is there. Only ONE person has acknowledged that this might even be a fault. It's been away for repair for this matter (and some other issues) but still persists.
I wish you the very best of luck, my friend.
