6500 slide battery

How long should the battery last?
My battery lasts for 3, maybe 4 days, is that normal?
Ny old nokia 6060 lasted for at least a week and a half without charging, and i used that one more than the 6500...

Im on V04.81 RM-240 and i can access those 3 options:
- "dual mode";
- UMTS;
- GSM;
I do not think it could be the version, cause mine is older than yours and has this option. If your phone support UMTS(3G), select this option, so the phone stop searching and do not drain your battery life.
After performing this action, post your results here, to everybody with same problem knows if it works.
I think it could help.

  • 6500 slide battery issue

Got a new 6500 slide on thurs, charged it overnight as was told by shop, and by friday night after checking out the phones features, sending around 15 txt, and receiving 1 phone call, i get the battery low sign...
Looking at the specs on the website, its supposed to have 13.25 (i think) days standby time, so with minimal usage, around 6 days? I cant even get one, what should i do?

    Hi,
I had my 6500 slide in Steel delivered just over a month ago and had read many worrying reviews about the battery life. I'd also read many reviews that said the opposite though.
After carefully charging the Li-Poly battery for a good 16 hours on the first charge, the phone managed a paltry 24 hours just like yours. I continued for 6 days completely discharging the phone and then recharging it fully to no avail. I turned off all the power hunger features (3G, Bluetooth, Screensaver etc ) and turned on the power saving mode. Still nothing.
I called my operator who claimed they'd never heard of this sort of problem. I demanded a replacement battery immediately, which duly arrived two days later. Transit seemed to have scuffed the edges of this battery as it had simply been thrown in a paper envelope (no bubble wrap) but I noticed it was a Li-Ion battery unlike the Li-Poly that Nokia issued in the box.
This has TRANSFORMED the battery life. It will run for up to 6 days with normal use eg. Permanent standby, a few calls, lots of music on the commute, some texting and the odd Photo (I'm impressed with the camera).
Get a replacement battery ASAP, I'd go for the older LI-ION even though it's a bit heavier. With all the Stainless Steel you don't notice.

  • 6500 slide battery drain

I have trawled the internet looking for a solution to this problem all to no avail.I have found many people with the same problem and not one definite solution. This must be a major problem with this phone that  you would think a company the size of Nokia would be able to sort out.The phone had worked perfectly since i had it about two years ago, then all of a sudden the battery life deteriorated dramatically. It went from lasting about three days to lasting about 10 hours.Thinking this was the battery giving up the ghost i purchased a new one and was surprised that i had the same problem with the new one. When the charger is plugged in ,it charges up to full with an on screen message to unplug the charger as the battery is full.I have updated the software and turned off all major drainage items as suggested in other posts but i couldnt really see it being any of these as the phone had allways worked fine before. As i said before there are many people that have the same problem with this phone and no definite solution to it, hope someone can help.

Though not a definitive answer, if possible charge with another compatible charger and see if it makes any difference..
If it does not and since you have tried all other possible solutions..most probably its a hardware issue..

  • 6500 Slide No Low Battery Warning Tone

    Hi,
Does anybody know if the 6500 slide has a low battery warning tone function? If so how can I turn it on?
    Thanks,

So it won't harm the battery to regularly charge it up when the battery level isn't at a low charge?
Yes. Ironically, modern batteries liked to be always charged - at least partially.

That is applicable and advisable for old batteries - early Nokia batteries - and especially NiMH and NiCd's. But not for modern batteries at the present.
Also, can it do harm to charge for say 30 minutes and not until it's full?
No. It won't pose any harm. As I've said, modern batteries like to be charged partially.
    Hope this helps

  • Charging a New 6500 Slide

Handbook suggest around 90 ,but I'm hearing 16 hours to charge a drained (brand new) battery? Is there a problem with the 6500 slide? After an hour of charging I removed the lead and the phone is dead! New phone arrived this morning. Something seems amiss!
    Any ideas

A new battery requires a 3 full charge & discharge cycles before it attain it's full power. It takes 2hrs more or less depends on charger & phone model. If you put it on charge for an hour & removing it make the phone dead, its either the battery or the phone power circuitry is defective.

  • 6500 slide issues (list it here)

I hope to create a single thread to list and discuss all issues users are having with their 6500 slide.
    Let me start with mine:
    V 0.380
    10-09-07
    RM-240
    Variant: 255.02
    1. sometimes the buttons (numbers or options) becomes unrepsonsive; give it a wait and it works again.
    2. Ringtone and Message Alert tone goes back to default; or display some weird alphabet+numbers after a while. And i had to manually set back my favourite ringtone for both calls and message. This happens to the default 'General' and renaming MyStyle1.
    3. do you find the battery lasting? not for me.

I got my 6500 slide 3 days ago and I have the same firmware version as you - as well as some of the same problems.
The screen/buttons hang, and I have to wait or press the end button repeatedly to get back to the main screen and start all over again. A few times I had to repeatedly push the unlock + * buttons to unlock the phone. I also have problems viewing my contact info in the PC Suite...
And I have scratches on the "2" key on the number pad. Is this just "wear" or is it a defect, as I see this problem reported by many others. I'd like to know so that I don't look like I have OCD when I go to the store for an exchange.

  • 6500 slide freezes when receiving SMS

    hi,
I own a brand new 6500 slider, its only a few weeks old and it has a very upsetting bug.
when the music player is on and the keys lock automatically (set for 1 minute), and i receive an SMS, the phone simply freezes.
The keys are useless, the light wont even turn on when i open the slide, the screen still turns of in its fashionable manner... the only thing i can really do about it is removing and returning the battery to its socket.
    Software version is 4.84.
    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks,

  • 6500 Slide terrible sound quality

    Hello,
i just replaced my SE k810 for a Nokia 6500 slide. The problem with the K810 was battery which only lasted for one day. So i thought i`d give Nokia a try. Compared to the SonyEricsson phone, however the sound quality in Nokia is terrible. When i dial a number and press the call button the phone starts buzzing in my ear and the buzzing continues throughout the call. The sound that i hear is metallic and some of the tones seem to be missing at all.
Is this a common problem with this phone? I already returned the phone back to the service but as far as i know all they do there is updating the software, which does not fix anything. 6500 slide owners please comment on the problem.
    TY

I agree, the sound quality, among other things make this the worst phone I have ever had. Nothing works on this stupid phone and no one wants to fix it because the say that it has been damaged by rain. Well, that is not strange when it is open in the top ( you charge the phone from the top, stupid feature). So I have a phone that I can't use...

  • 6500 Slide Limitations on Message Recepients

    Hello,
I had used N72 and then shifted to 6500 Slide recently.
What annoys me is there is a limitation of 20 receipients for a text message.
Even if my mailer group is more than 20 it accepts only 20 recepients.
My software is 4.84 and i am facing Handset HANG during call.
This is very sad part of 6500.
    Any solution available for this.

You could try turning the phone off, take the back cover off, remove the battery, memo card and the sim card. Wait approximately 10 mins then put the SIM card and battery, memo card back in, replace cover and turn the phone back on.
dont attempt a self fix take it to a nokia care centre to be fixed
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

  • 6500 Slide Problems

    Hello,
I brought a Nokia 6500 Slide about a month ago, about a week ago all the buttons stopped working except for the End Call (red button), so i could only turn it on and off.
Couple days ago they started to work again, but then i came across another problem. Now everytime i switch the phone on if works fine for a couple seconds then resets to the starting screen and switches itself off.
    The software version is v8.3
Any help on this please ?
    Regards

Probably the best advice ever given to me about this particular model phone (Nokia 6500) was from a tech support guy, who i might add was very patient with a new user (yes new, not novice - don't assume i know nothing about phones) he spoke clearly and slowly these words.
"Ok sir, please give me another number i can contact you on"
    - so i gave him the number of my girlfriends phone -
-30 seconds later he calls back on the other number -
"Ok now go ahead and power down (turn off) your phone and allow at least 30 seconds for the power down to finish, now please go ahead and remove the back plate of your phone, now remove your battery and wait a further one minute while we discuss some other features you mentioned earlier" - so he was giving the phone time to go completely dead with no power (battery removed) and kept chatting to me about other features on the phone, while i presume he kept one eye on the clock- after about 3-4 minutes of discussing some other features on the phone, he said "Now go ahead and reassemble the phone, by putting the battery back in and replacing the back plate" -after i had done all this he said- "Now please turn the phone back on and wait at least 2 minutes before touching any other keys" -again he kept me talking about other features on the phone, whilst maintaining one eye on the clock- at the end of it all- "Please reset all your ringtones and personal settings the way you would like them to be" -again he waited on the line while i did this-"Now please if you have any other problems like this, please call us back" and to this day, i have not called them back.
Listen carefully to what a tech support guy says, follow his/her instructions to the letter and you too can have a trouble free Nokia 6500 like me.
Occasionally when my phone does this default reset - i feel as though it might be a problem with the interface between the mico SD card and the phone's ability to communicate between the 2. So a simple hard reset as described above almost always fixes the problem. Nokia's source coding would be older then most people who come on these forums - and have no doubt in saying that there may be some slight glitches in this particular release ... but a simple hard reset almost always fixes this particular problem.
Some programs that run devices are almost mechanical and if they miss a step, have almost no way of reverting back to the previous step, so resetting the phone will take us back to the first step and allow the phone to work it's way through it's own process until the glitch becomes evident again.

  • Phone update for 6500 slide

I have used Nokia Software Updater before to update this type of phone and it updated okay to the latest firmware.
But this latest phone it won't recognise, i am using a standard nokia USB cable and it does keep losing connection so i thought it could be a broken cable but i think it could be the phone not being recognized as it came from China and seems to have Chinese Network and Pinyin branding because if you do a factory reset it defaults to Chinese language.
I am able to use Virgin Sim card and also eventually got T-moble internet access on the phone.
    Software Details are -
    V 05.41
    30-11-07
    RM-278
    (c) Nokia
It always defaults to upper case when texting.
Will debranding get rid of the chinese?

Please, try the Nokia Software Recovery Tool first. Is your Nokia 6500 slide shown in the Nokia Suite or the PC Suite? If not, is your phone correctly shown in the Windows Device Manager? If not, did you right-click in the Windows Device Manager and select ‘Update Driver …’?

If you want to get rid of this uppercase stuff (because of Chinese), you have to change the set of languages. The set of languages are determined by the firmware variant. And the firmware variant is determined by the 7-letter (product) code which is printed on the label underneath the battery.
If you change the model code (RM-xxx) you break your phone because those firmwares do not fit to the hardware (frequency bands, …).
Okay, changing the product code, officially only Nokia Care Points do that, officially. It won’t fix your Nokia Software Updater issue but that uppercase stuff.

  • 6500 slide keeps switching itself off

Just got my shiny new 6500 slide which keeps switching itself off. The only way of switching it back on when this happens it to take the battery out, put it back in and then press the power button. It happens about once or twice a day and it seems to be when the phone is charging.
Anyone else experiencing this? Is there a way of resetting the phone to prevent this happening?
I'd really like to fix it without the hassle of going back to the shop and trying to demonstrate a very unpredictable fault.

I would definately take your phone back and get it replaced. I had problems with my 6500 slide, every time i turned it on & off i would have to resest the time & date. I purchased my phone from an internet retailer and they exchanged it for a new one, so far i have had no problems...

  • Bricked nokia 6500 slide due to cable disconnectio...

well i was updating my old nokia 6500 slide and my computer randomly disconnected the phone making my phone go corrupted, so now whenever i turn it on all i see is a blank screen with a backlight, ive looked all over the internet for a fix and sadly i could not find one, so now im hoping somebody on this site can help me fix it.

blazekid your phone is bricked the only way to make it work again is to take it to Nokia care. Or remove your phone's battery and then re insert it after 5-10 minutes. If This doesn't work you have to do the First one.

  • 6500 slide appears to have died

I'm absolutely devastated! My trusty old 6500 slide appears to be dead.
When I switch it on, it's like it's trying to boot up but then the screen sort of pixelates and then goes white then it switches off.
Does it sound like it's beyond repair?
    Any advice greatfully received.
    Thanks

try remove battery and memo card for ten mins then reinsert battery and see what happens,if no change send it to a nokia care point it can be repaired .

    Hello,
I've recently got a new 6500 slide, it's an O2 model but I'm using it on Virgin (or T-Mobile as the phone tells me!)
Anyway, it was fine for a couple of weeks and I'm very happy with it generally, until yesterday when mid call the other person could no longer hear me, and now the same on every call I make or receive. It seems as though the microphone has just simply given up, I've tried taking the sim and battery out for a few minutes - just on the off chance really but as I thought that didn't work!
Also, and this isn't so much of a problem, just strange - whenever I take the cover off the back I lose my wallpaper!
    Anyone got any ideas.....??
