how do u get camera off standby please
Hi peaches
You could try turning the phone off, take the back cover off, remove the battery and the sim card. Wait approximately 20 seconds then put the SIM card and battery back in, replace cover and turn the phone back on.

  • 6500 slide False Battery Level Reading.

    Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has had their battery level showing as full when it is actually very low.
This started happening after I updated my phone to firmware v 8.30, but probably more relevant after discharging the battery fully (as recommended)to improve battery life.
    Thanks.

I have a 6500 classic and the battery started doing the weird levels.
Showed that the battery didn't need charging as said was full but when took it off the charger it said battery low.
Would not charge even after being on the charger all night.
Sometimes works in the car charger (needed one as battery doesn't even last 1 day at work since bought the phone) but after showing 3/4 full, get 1 call and then beeps at me to show about to go flat.
Phone is only 1 year old.
Ordered a new battery so will see how it goes when it comes in on Monday....

  • How to use mobile camera 6500 slide as webcam

anyone can help me with this problem?i want to use my mobile camera nokia 6500 slide as webcam on pc.is it any software available for this application. i'm already know about mobiola and wwigo but i can't use them because my phone does not support sis file and my laptop actually does't have bluetooth.plz help me immediately

Nokia 6500 and many other Nokia models use the Series 40
    software platform. According to
    http://www.forum.nokia.com/Resources_and_Information/Explore/Software_Platforms/Series_40/
it is "the world's most widely used mobile device platform".
Many of the phones have a camera and they are even able to
do video calling (video telephony), e.g. Nokia 3120 classic,
as they have a front camera also.
I'm sure many users of such phones (including me) would like
to have an application that would turn the phone into a
    webcam device for a PC.

  • 6500 slide camera probs

Hello, I am new to this forum but am hoping someone can help me. I have just bought a 6 month old handset as a replacement for my own 10 month old handset which met with a rather unfortunate accident. I never had any probs with my own phone but this new one says camera on standby whenever you try & use the camera and nothing I do gets rid of this. From what I have since read on the net this sounds like a common problem and I was wondering if anyone actually has a fix it that works please.

It's a phone problem, a hardware, but unfortunelly, a general one. Here, in our shop, all 6500 slide have this problem, and lots of clients camed back with this complain..

  • 6500 slide camera capture

I have noticed that in all of the reviews of the 6500 slide I have seen all images of the camera application are in vertical mode, although the phone has a capture key that would lead you to believe that the camera can also support a horizontal mode as well.
If anyone knows if the camera application also supports horizontal mode (ie. all text and menus rotated to work in this orienation) I would really appretiate it if you could tell me.
Thanks, AndyMessage Edited by andycler on 02-Sep-200705:17 PM

Yes, the phone takes photo's in horizontal mode.
I found this in the 6500 slide's specs:
"Horizontal mode with capture and zoom keys allows you to use the phone like a digital camera"

  • 6500 Slide Camera Button ?

Is anyone having difficulty with the side camera button on their 6500 Slide.
It auto-focuses with the half way press without any problems, but I'm finding that you have to press it down really quite hard for it to actually take the picture.
What are your thoughts on this, is it a hardware fault ?
    Many thanks.

  • 6500 Slide Text Freeze

    Hi all,
I'm getting a problem with my 6500 slide, whereby the 2 blue buttons below the screen (the ones for options and clear/exit) just stop responding when I write a text message.
There doesn't seem to be any common factor that causes it, the only way i've found to get the buttons to work again is by closing and then re-opening the slide - this works 95% of the time.
I held on for the update, and put on v4.81 when it was release but still have the same issue.
Anyone else had this problem and found a resolution?
    Thanks
    Rob

Probably a hardware fault, I think you should take it to a Nokia Care Point. Repair will be free if your device is under warranty.

  • 6500 Slide Problems

    Hello,
I brought a Nokia 6500 Slide about a month ago, about a week ago all the buttons stopped working except for the End Call (red button), so i could only turn it on and off.
Couple days ago they started to work again, but then i came across another problem. Now everytime i switch the phone on if works fine for a couple seconds then resets to the starting screen and switches itself off.
    The software version is v8.3
Any help on this please ?
    Regards

Probably the best advice ever given to me about this particular model phone (Nokia 6500) was from a tech support guy, who i might add was very patient with a new user (yes new, not novice - don't assume i know nothing about phones) he spoke clearly and slowly these words.
"Ok sir, please give me another number i can contact you on"
    - so i gave him the number of my girlfriends phone -
-30 seconds later he calls back on the other number -
"Ok now go ahead and power down (turn off) your phone and allow at least 30 seconds for the power down to finish, now please go ahead and remove the back plate of your phone, now remove your battery and wait a further one minute while we discuss some other features you mentioned earlier" - so he was giving the phone time to go completely dead with no power (battery removed) and kept chatting to me about other features on the phone, while i presume he kept one eye on the clock- after about 3-4 minutes of discussing some other features on the phone, he said "Now go ahead and reassemble the phone, by putting the battery back in and replacing the back plate" -after i had done all this he said- "Now please turn the phone back on and wait at least 2 minutes before touching any other keys" -again he kept me talking about other features on the phone, whilst maintaining one eye on the clock- at the end of it all- "Please reset all your ringtones and personal settings the way you would like them to be" -again he waited on the line while i did this-"Now please if you have any other problems like this, please call us back" and to this day, i have not called them back.
Listen carefully to what a tech support guy says, follow his/her instructions to the letter and you too can have a trouble free Nokia 6500 like me.
Occasionally when my phone does this default reset - i feel as though it might be a problem with the interface between the mico SD card and the phone's ability to communicate between the 2. So a simple hard reset as described above almost always fixes the problem. Nokia's source coding would be older then most people who come on these forums - and have no doubt in saying that there may be some slight glitches in this particular release ... but a simple hard reset almost always fixes this particular problem.
Some programs that run devices are almost mechanical and if they miss a step, have almost no way of reverting back to the previous step, so resetting the phone will take us back to the first step and allow the phone to work it's way through it's own process until the glitch becomes evident again.

  • Phone update for 6500 slide

I have used Nokia Software Updater before to update this type of phone and it updated okay to the latest firmware.
But this latest phone it won't recognise, i am using a standard nokia USB cable and it does keep losing connection so i thought it could be a broken cable but i think it could be the phone not being recognized as it came from China and seems to have Chinese Network and Pinyin branding because if you do a factory reset it defaults to Chinese language.
I am able to use Virgin Sim card and also eventually got T-moble internet access on the phone.
    Software Details are -
    V 05.41
    30-11-07
    RM-278
    (c) Nokia
It always defaults to upper case when texting.
Will debranding get rid of the chinese?

Please, try the Nokia Software Recovery Tool first. Is your Nokia 6500 slide shown in the Nokia Suite or the PC Suite? If not, is your phone correctly shown in the Windows Device Manager? If not, did you right-click in the Windows Device Manager and select ‘Update Driver …’?

If you want to get rid of this uppercase stuff (because of Chinese), you have to change the set of languages. The set of languages are determined by the firmware variant. And the firmware variant is determined by the 7-letter (product) code which is printed on the label underneath the battery.
If you change the model code (RM-xxx) you break your phone because those firmwares do not fit to the hardware (frequency bands, …).
Okay, changing the product code, officially only Nokia Care Points do that, officially. It won’t fix your Nokia Software Updater issue but that uppercase stuff.

  • Adapter for MD-1 Music Stand for Nokia 6500 Slide

I currently Own a Nokia Music Stand MD-1 that has a Pop Port connection. I use it with my Nokia 6280 Phone. I am thinking of Upgrading my phone to a Nokia 6500 Slide and want to know if there is an adapter I can purchase so I can continue to use my MD-1 Music Stand with the new Phone as the connections are different on the base of the new phone. Has Nokia produced this or does anyone know where I can get one.

I've came across with people that encountered such problem after upgrading to latest version of pcsuite(foreign language version) & were able to recover by running the Pcsuite cleaner & installing the English version. Why don't you give it a shot.

  • Nokia 6500 Slide!

Please can tell me how the 6500 slide is?
Ive got a Luna at the mo,and im very happy with it.Only annoying thing is that it has NO memory expansion. So im looking for a replacement.Im thinking about the Slide, but i have seen today one which i could change with my luna, and the camera sucks! The photo quality is whorster then the N73 which i think is almost the same quality as the N95,and the video recording was horrible!!I thought the video recording mode of the Slide would be at 30fps,which would be similar to the N95,but it was the same as the 6300 and Luna for example. So how can this be?I really hoped that the pic quality was same like the N73 and the video recording same like the N95 or a bit less.So i dont know if it is the Slide i looked to which was bad(just 20 days old) or is it just how the Slide's are?If all the slide's are like this i will go for the ugly'er but much more quality baring N82 or the SE k850i.Can someone please answer this??

I never said it was the worst phone on the planet, I simply pointed out that it was not always a trouble-free model (you are lucky, you don't seem to have suffered the issue of the badly-fitting backplate whose metal protrusion didn't always contact with the circuit board switch leading to frequent failure to activate memory card access) and gave my honest opinion of it compared with the other phones that the original poster mentioned.
None of that should detract from your enjoyment of your phone; but the 6500 Slide's build quality (however good it may be) will never compare to the 8600 Luna that the other guy is replacing.

  • 6500 Slide Scratched Keypad !!!

I, like many, am a proud owner of a 6500 Slide.
Brilliant phone with it's 3.2 MP Auto Focus camera and stylish looks etc. However, after owning it for about a month now, I'm a little annoyed at how the keypad has been getting more and more scratched.
I know this is affecting a lot of owners at the moment and wonder what might be causing it, how it can be prevented, and what can we do about getting it rectified. Are Nokia even aware of this defect ?
I love the phone and don't realy want to give it up, but am a little annoyed that after spending a small fortune on a sim free version, that the phone can show this kind of damamge in such a short space of time. How much worse will it be after 6 months ?
    Any thoughts anyone ?

The only thing that you can do is to visit a nokia care point/service centre and show them the wear. If the phone is in overall good condition (apart from the scratches) then they will replace the worn part under warranty because you have looked after the phone.
The E65 had a similar issue with it's keypad and also had another wear issue with it's casing. I received a brand new phone under warranty from my local care point.
