6500 Slide Firmware + Product Code

Hey guys,
Can anybody tell me the latest firmware for the 6500 Slide, and a debranded UK/Euro product code for the phone?
Thanks :]

You need to go to a nokia care point and pay to have them install the language pack that you require,
note that if you later upgrade your phones firmware this new language pack will be lost

• Orange 6500 Slide Firmware change.

Hello,
I bought an unlocked Orange Nokia 6500 Slide without knowing about the Firmware. It is completely hideous. I'd like to have the standard Nokia Frimware.
Could anyone help me with this?
Help is very much appreciated.
Thank you for your time! :-)

If you get written consent from the operator in question, a Nokia service point may be able to flash the phone with the standard Nokia software. Note, however, that they aren't required to do this by Nokia and so may not do.
Any other method that may exist would invalidate the warranty - we are not allowed to discuss that sort of thing here.

Please help as the phone is very very sluggish and crashes easily.
Thanks!

My problem MIGHT be solved !!! The file "FW_E2000_1.0.03.002_US_20100907_code.bin" i previous downloaded from the linksys download page "http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/wireless/linksys/E2000" was 0 bit. This may course the "Upgrade failure" problem !! But i got 5.16 M when downloading direct from the link "http://homedownloads.cisco.com/downloads/firmware/1224655367476/FW_E2000_1.0.03.002_US_20100907_code..." which was copied from the same page. the following sticky post should answer your question about why your chinese language disappeared.
/discussions/board/message?board.id=swupdate&thread.id=29982
you can visit the nearest nokia care point to have that additonal language added to phone.

• Security Code 6500 slide

I don't remember chnaging the security code on my new 6500 slide, i want to clear my message log and it asks for security code, i put in the defaulf 12345 and it gives me "code error". can anybody help? thks

Don't try this too often. If you enter an incorrect security code 10(?) times, it locks the phone leaving a re-flash of the firmware at a care point to be the only solution.
In fact, if you don't remember the security code then that will be your only solution anyway.
If you do take it to an NCP, remember to provide proof of purchase demonstrating that you are the owner of the phone.

• Nokia 6500s1 (6500 Slide) RM-240 Firmware v10.00

Hi, I've noticed that the new firmware version 10.00
for the Nokia 6500s1 (6500 Slide) RM-240 is out.
Does anyone have an idea what is new in this version
and they've fixed in this version?

It's still not listed at the site, butt it's out there.
I've got the update by using nokia software updater.
When *#0000# is entered in the main screen of
my nokia 6500 slide it comes with a screen that reports this:
Nokia 6500s-1
V 10.00
06-03-09
RM-240
(C)Nokia
Variant: 00.00
Virtual Variant:
No virtual variant
Language:
V 10.00
06-03-09
RM-240
(c)Nokia
C
See also the attachments.
It's still a pitty that there is still no information aviable for
this firmware version, they need to be more open about it.

• Nokia 6500 Classic\Slide Firmware version 8.30

I've recently installed firmware version 8.30 on my Nokia 6500 Slide, can anyone tell me what the changes are in this recent firmware version?
Can't find anywhere what has changed in this firmware update, also not with Google.

I have noticed a couple of things:
1) When taking pics it looks like it has fixed the bug I had that I could not use the middle button sometimes when taking pics (was only intermittent)
2) It has a really annoying message when fully charged to say 'remove charger to save energy' which is very annoying!

• Why no new firmware for E71 (product code:0569371)

Now, normally I would not care but over the last couple of months everyone keeps blogging about the new firmware for their E71.
I have paid a full price for mine in the US (Newegg) so that I would not be constrained by some provider limitations.
Well, now I find out that everyone else in the world, including the US, but that one product code (0569371) has received their updates, some even two and I am still stuck on the original 1.0 release.
Can anyone one over there at Nokia explains this to me like a 4-year-old, why does Nokia punishes owners of this particular product?

Having exchanged a few polite emails with NA Nokia devission I got this today:
"Nokia is consistently working to improve our product services and realizes the software update is important to you. I regret to inform you, that I do not have a release date for the firmware update to your Nokia E71 device. Please continue to monitor the Nokia Software Updater (NSU) for updates for your device. "
So, I have decided to go on a mission to provide potential North America buyers of the Nokia phones sold in US about the support they can expect. Do I think this will help? I doubt it, but what else can I do? Class action suite?

You don't have to SHOUT ... !!! ;-)
The GENERIC-firmware of the 6630 is updated; this doesn't mean that the Operator-variants, i.e. Vodafone & T-Mobile, updated THEIR firmwares as well . . .
Nokia Software Uploader looks for the Production-Code of your GSM.
With NSU, you can NEVER change your Operator-Firmware to the GENERIC Nokia one!

• Firmware updates unavailable for most product code...

Hi,
it's over a month now that Nokia has released the latest 40.x.x firmware for its 5800 model, or should I say to a small, privilleged amount of customers? I have purchased a Nokia 5800 via Amazon.de, totally unbranded, product code is 0578314, and up to now, the new firmware is unavailable. Why does it take so long for the firmware to become available at least for the unbranded country versions? Technically, there seems to be no problem at all, since many users simply change their product code and install the new firmware, but I am asking here for an official way to get the new firmware in time. The massive delay in firmware updates for different product codes is simply a pain for us paying customers who want the latest features available.
Actually, Nokia already is using a similar system. If your phone is unbranded, you still have to consider if its a Regional or Country Variant (similar to the SE phones, and the China versions I stated above). There are basically two types of unbranded handsets: regional generic and country variants.
This fact is not clearly obvious when you buy a phone, so how does a customer know if he gets a CV (copuntry variant) or any other type of phone before buying? When I bought my unbranded 5800XM, I was still thinking that I get a perfect, free phone, and that firmwareupdates can be applied when available. It was absolutely not apparent to me that I would have to wait three months or so, before I can upgrade my phone to a new firmware, once it becomes available

• E71 - No firmware updates for product code 0569116...

I'v had an E71 for three months already. In this time two firmware updates have been released for the E71 (in general) but not for my specific product code. It cannot be a regional thing as other E71's in same region as me have gotten the most recent updates.
Also, network operator says it is not with them but that firmware needs to be released by Nokia.
This makes me very unhappy. Had the N73 before and frequently got the firmware updates.
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Thanks Mbamg
Thats how I understand the process to work as well, but it seems this is not the view of the operator (Vodacom, btw also South African)
According to this post in another forum http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=153716&page=3
Vodacom phones are not being updated but MTN phones are, though from what is written, it seems that Nokia themselves are unsure, first stating the firmware is only for european models, though unable to comment on why other South African model (MTN ones) are in fact being updated. At the very least, it seems that there is no version for Vodacom to test/release yet.

• [N95-1] Product Code 0548763 firmware 20.. when?

Hi,
I have a N95-1 unlocked Product Code 054876 and still the firmware is v12, from v11 to v12 it took some time but this long is too much, any ideas why this time is taking so long?
I know that Nokia release the firmware on a Region basis but this one is taking a whole life.
I checked in http://europe.nokia.com/link?cid=EDITORIAL_528996 and the latest firmware still shows v12.0.013.
Thanks.
S/

Thanks, but...
Why not waiting? because it is not a toy, is a business tool and after reviewing functionality and requirements price matched needs.
Why Nokia, again.. after reviewing market availability was the one with better functionality/price ratio for my needs.
And it is not a matter on supporting Nokia, was the best phone for my needs at the moment one year ago, but if you can point to a manufacturer without this kind of mishaps please let us know, so far my experience with Nokia had been better than with Motorola, SonyE and Samsung from the firmware support standpoint.
I had use Nokia, Motorola, SonyE, Samsung, over the years, and so far I have not found one manufacturer that match heavy users pace.
Thanks for the .5 cents.
