6500 Slide micro SD card issue?

Just brought the 6500 Silde in St Maarten it seems to a really nice phone bar a few bugs I can live with except for one.
When you set the phone up and load images/mp3's to the micro SD card it works all fine and well until you put another SIM card in and the phone no longer recognises the SD card until you put the original SIM back in again. This is an issues because I move countries alot and use local SIM cards where ever I am.
Is there a fix or someway to over come this? I checked all the security side of thing but didn't see anything that resembled a lock on access to the SD memory??????
Help?

Horton,
to make sure that it has a format that is suitable for Macs, put the microSD card in its adapter and insert the adapter into your MacBook Pro’s SD card slot. From Finder, press Command-Shift-U to open the Utilities folder, and run Disk Utility.app in that folder. When you start Disk Utility, it should show all of your drives —  your internal hard drive, your internal SuperDrive, and the microSD card — on the left-hand side of its window. Presuming that it does show the microSD card, select it, then select the Erase tab that appears on the right-hand side of the window. Select one of the formats in the Format dropdown menu [“Mac OS Extended (Journaled)” is fine if your microSD card will only be used on Macs; “MS-DOS (FAT)” would be better if you need to use it on other devices also], give the microSD card a name in the Name box, and press the “Erase…” button to format it. When it finishes, close Disk Utility, and the microSD card should appear with the name that you just gave it on your desktop.

  • 6500 slide Micro SDHC cards

Please can you let me know if Mirco SDHC 4gb cards are compatible with the 6500 slide??? Thanks

    Yes they work.
Just make sure you buy a good brand like sandisk or kingston to avoid problems. Unbranded cards tend to cause problems, especially the ones being sold on ebay.

  • Nokia 6500 slide & micro SDHC compatibility

    hi!
I just got my nokia 6500 slide & wanted to pair it up with a good memory card (I was thinking 6 GB, initially, then I read some of the comments in this board and desisted).
hence, I was wondering whether it accommodates 4GB Micro SDHC cards, which are slightly larger than the regular Micro SD cards. While going through previous postings I found two contradictory comments (one says yes, the other no), so I wanted to double check with current 6500 owners before buying my own card.
    thanks!

oh , its been a while , I'd like to thank you all for replying to my query above , ive already got the phone ... no problems of resetting ringtones/themes so far.. unless ofcourse yes you remove the backcover and your tones/themes were stored on the mc , mine are on the ph.memory.
overall good phone.. though it hangs when manual tuning the Radio FM.
I've not got a microsdhc card for it yet.. ok to the above post im assuming it wont take a 4GB KINGSTON microSDHC or it wont take in Kingston as a brand...
I'm going to bite the bullet and try out what Knapjee here tried - sandisk 4gb microsdhc .. though i'd like reassurances.
    Cheers for now ,

  • Nokia 6500 Slide Micro SD Password Problems

Was having problems with my Nokia 6500 slide so brought it into my nearest repair store and the upgraded the software (so they told me). As you know I lost all my settings and anything in the phones memory but I had taken out my microsd card before this and when I put it back in it was asking for a 'password' which I never had in the first place!!!
Now all my memorable pics and videos seem to be gone forever unless I can open it.
Tried passwords like - 1234,12345,.adgj,00000,5555,9999,password,5y5tem,nokia,memcard etc.
I also tried to open it on my laptop which it kept flashing on and off so couldnt open it!!!
Any suggestions would be very helpful

  • 6500-slide sd card

    Good evening
    I have a nokia 6500-slide with a card(map) sd of 256mb,
Everything worked marvelously and since yesterday my telephonne does not want to recognize any more the card(map), he(it) did not fall, I have make nothing of special with, somebody has an idea?
    Thank you

There have been some issues with the memory cards on the 6500 Slide. When the battery cover is removed, the memory card is deactivated.
On the back of the battery cover, next to the hole for the camera lens, is a a protruding metal piece which holds down the switch on the circuit board that creates the contact with the memory card, allowing it to be activated.
Check that the back is fitting correctly - if not, it will not be making contact with the switch. Failing that, it is worth getting the phone checked out by a Nokia service point. Don't try to adjust anything on the phone's body yourself, if you cause further damage you will invalidate the warranty.

  • Where is Micro SD Memory Card? Nokia 6500 slide

    Hi guys,
    I need some help please.
I bought Nokia 6500 slide today and on the box says that it contains:
    Nokia 6500 slide
    Nokia Battery BP-5M
    Nokia Charger AC-4
    Nokia Wired Stereo Headset HS-47
Nokia 256 MB Micro SD Memory Card MU-27
    Nokia Mirco USB Cable CA-101
    Nokia TV-Out Cable CA-92U
    CD ROM
    User guide
Everything is there except Micro SD Card. Is it somewhere inserted in the phone or it should be in the box? I am confused. I am worried because I don't think they sold me brand new item as I think box was open before they brought it to me.

    Hi,
Remove the back cover and you will notice next to the camera lens a silver plate. The memory card should be in there. By holding the phone so that the camera lens is at the top and the battery is facing downwards, you can put ur fingernail carefully at the top of the silver plate where there is an indentation and slide the cover down without removing the battery. You can then remove the memory card once you manage to get the silver plate to pop upright..
    Hope this helps.
To insert ur sim card, you need to remover the battery. The sim card compartment is just below the memory card slot. When you need to get the sim card out, use the little metal slider beside the memory card slot to push the sim card out of the slot.
    Mojo!

  • 6500 slide display screen issues

Hello, first post and first problem with my phone so far, i'm still trying to figure out whats wrong with it.
I bought my slide from a cell phone vendor in Singapore, and thankfully i have insurance so if anything is unfixable my insurance will take care of it, but i haven't looked into what id have to do to get that done since im here in the us.
My problem is this. Recently, my screen or display is starting to do some weird stuff. Sometimes the screen just goes all black, and i cant see anything on it, i can see that it is backlit, that there is at least power going there, but no picture, and sometimes, the normal image of the phone is seriously distorted, like someone switched the colors on a laptop display from 1 million to like 36 colors, not cool. While this is happening though, all the functions of the phone are operating, i can hear when i enter in numbers, and i can dial my voicemail, and im sure if i could remember the key sequence to say....play a mp3 i think i could do that as well. This seems to happen when i slide the phone out, but not always, sometimes the slide will be in, and it wont show anything, and then ill slide it out and nothing happens, so nothing concrete but this is happening. But it always consistently comes back at some point. sometimes ill just leave the phone slid in with the screen black, and eventually it will come back....
When i had first got my phone, something similar to this had happened, but never for longer than a few seconds. A couple of times after i had been using a bluetooth stereo headset, i had switched off the headset, and then later wanted to reconnect it, but the phone for some reason had it still listed in actively connected bluetooth devices. So i would cycle bluetooth off and then on again. After turning blue tooth off, the phones screen would blank, as if it was restarting, and then i would wait a second, and then the normal stuff like icons and network and all that stuff would come back, like it was thinking real hard or something.
I thought that it might be software related, i have some games on my phone, and maybe there were problems caused by them, or i thought it might be because i had been using a 6gb hcsd micro card in the phone. I had been using it in the phone for a while, with no issues whatsoever, but then this started happening, so i took it out and put in a 2gb micro sd card that i have as well.
I just finished installing the latest phone software, and i had done this once before, when a new version came out, so now i have the newest phone software available. Now....after i did this successfully, i examined the phone again, slid it in and out, and the screen went blank a few times, then came back a few times. I decided to shut off the power and then turn it back on, and it seems, as if this is not happening any longer, though i think pessimistically that it might happen again.
If anyone out there has experienced something similar or exactly like this, and has found a solution please let me know.
I'm worried that it is hardware related, or permanent damage to whatever counts as a phones bios or firmware, but i cannot be sure.
Any help or info is greatly appreciated,
    Thanks,
    Ian.

    Hi all.
Thank you both for your input as far as my problem with the phone is concerned. I had done some reasearch on the problem, and due to the fact that i am in the United states, i decided to see if i could get the phone repaired here locally. I found a place that works specifically on nokia phones, and they looked at my phone and said that they thought that it needed a new flex cable and a new lcd screen.
I was unable to find parts that i could buy singularly from any vendor, although i was able to find parts for my phone at a website called http://www.tessco.com/
The people i brought the phone to said that my phone needed a new audiovisual flex assembly, and a new lcd screen, as tessco calls them here: look under flex assemblies. they do not sell lcd replacement screens apparently.
    http://www.tessco.com/products/bmd/listItemsForSelectedCategory.do?bmdTypeId=007_26&mfgName=007_26_N...
I could not buy my parts from tessco because they will only do batch orders of 125 or more for each part. So, i looked around on ebay, and found 2 auctions where i found an lcd screen, and an AV flex assembly for my phone.
    here are the auction links
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=120217680995&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=002
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=110206704806&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=001
i purchased these two parts and the repair guys here locally said they looked good. They repaired my phone using them, and when it was done, apparently they said everything was fine.
Shortly thereafter, i was using my phone, and the same problem keeps on happening. The screen is still going black intermittently, and it is driving me insane.
What i am thinking is that something that i DIDNT replace is defective, but no one can seem to figure out what that is, or doesnt know.
If anyone can contribute some info to my problem, please help.
    And thank you.

  • 6500 slide usb issue?

Recently purchased a 6500 slide and have been loving it (despite it's hefty weight for such a small phone) but have a query about it's USB port.
Does the phone charge via the micro usb port?
I bought a car charger that plugs into the usb port but it doesn't work. Thinking it might be the phone i plugged into my pc with the data link cable. I was able to transfer files to and from the phone and memory card but it still didn't charge while it was connected.

maybe the 6500 slide can only be charged through the USB port using specialised car kit?...i have not charged the phone using the USB cable yet~but try to think: if the cable has to do 2 different tasks(file transfer and charging) at 1 time, wouldn't the transfer rate be extremely slow?..

  • 6500 Slide: problem with micro SD and back cover

    Hello everyone,
My name is Shamsul. I live in Malaysia. I just got myself a 6500 Slide a couple of days ago.
I'm having a problem accessing files on my micro SD card.
It seems that when the back cover is opened it deactivates the micro SD by removing pressure on a tiny switch next to the micro SD slot.
My problem, I think, is that my 6500 Slide's back cover doesn't close as tightly as it should that when I'm playing music from the micro SD, the music gets cut off because of the movement of the back cover.
Music from the phone's memory can be played without interruption. Music from the micro SD card will play uninterruptedly if I keep some pressure on the back cover.
    Please help.
    Thank you.
    Regards,
    Shamsul Sulaiman

  • 6500 slide issues (list it here)

I hope to create a single thread to list and discuss all issues users are having with their 6500 slide.
    Let me start with mine:
    V 0.380
    10-09-07
    RM-240
    Variant: 255.02
    1. sometimes the buttons (numbers or options) becomes unrepsonsive; give it a wait and it works again.
    2. Ringtone and Message Alert tone goes back to default; or display some weird alphabet+numbers after a while. And i had to manually set back my favourite ringtone for both calls and message. This happens to the default 'General' and renaming MyStyle1.
    3. do you find the battery lasting? not for me.

I got my 6500 slide 3 days ago and I have the same firmware version as you - as well as some of the same problems.
The screen/buttons hang, and I have to wait or press the end button repeatedly to get back to the main screen and start all over again. A few times I had to repeatedly push the unlock + * buttons to unlock the phone. I also have problems viewing my contact info in the PC Suite...
And I have scratches on the "2" key on the number pad. Is this just "wear" or is it a defect, as I see this problem reported by many others. I'd like to know so that I don't look like I have OCD when I go to the store for an exchange.

  • My 6500 slide could not read my memory card!

    Hello everyone,
My 6500 slide works fine until now. All of sudden, The phone does not read my 1 GB memory card. It said "No memory card found" when I try to check phone memory. Data storage also not available. Please help!
    sondang

Take the back of the phone off.
The window in the back, which has the cover for the lens, has a rim around it.  Part of this rim is raised up - this is the contact to enable the phone to see the memory card.
What happens over time is that the case on the phone may become compressed and the contact gets flattened down.
What you need to do is slide a thin flat blade scredriver under the raised part, and carefully twist the blade to raise the contact upwards, very slightly (~1mm).
Put the back of the case back on the phone.
    Worked fine for me!

  • 6500 slide battery issue

Got a new 6500 slide on thurs, charged it overnight as was told by shop, and by friday night after checking out the phones features, sending around 15 txt, and receiving 1 phone call, i get the battery low sign...
Looking at the specs on the website, its supposed to have 13.25 (i think) days standby time, so with minimal usage, around 6 days? I cant even get one, what should i do?

    Hi,
I had my 6500 slide in Steel delivered just over a month ago and had read many worrying reviews about the battery life. I'd also read many reviews that said the opposite though.
After carefully charging the Li-Poly battery for a good 16 hours on the first charge, the phone managed a paltry 24 hours just like yours. I continued for 6 days completely discharging the phone and then recharging it fully to no avail. I turned off all the power hunger features (3G, Bluetooth, Screensaver etc ) and turned on the power saving mode. Still nothing.
I called my operator who claimed they'd never heard of this sort of problem. I demanded a replacement battery immediately, which duly arrived two days later. Transit seemed to have scuffed the edges of this battery as it had simply been thrown in a paper envelope (no bubble wrap) but I noticed it was a Li-Ion battery unlike the Li-Poly that Nokia issued in the box.
This has TRANSFORMED the battery life. It will run for up to 6 days with normal use eg. Permanent standby, a few calls, lots of music on the commute, some texting and the odd Photo (I'm impressed with the camera).
Get a replacement battery ASAP, I'd go for the older LI-ION even though it's a bit heavier. With all the Stainless Steel you don't notice.
