6500 slide sms size indicator

Hi
I have a 6500 slide, and regularly send long texts, a friend was showing me her phone (Sony Ericson) has an indicator as to when you have reached the limit of 1 SMS message as you type. Having been cained by using my phone abroad this month, it would have been useful to have this indicator set up in my messages. I have looked in the manual, but not seen it there. Does the 6500 have that facility to set an indicator?

a single text message is limited to 160 characters. on s60 phones somewehre on the screen there is a 160 indicator and it depletes the longer your message, when you run out of characters it will show you 2 indicating that you have started your second message. look either on top right or left for the 160

Nokia 6500 Slide SMS retrival

I have a Nokia 6500 Slide that is unusable at the moment. There are a lot of very important sms stored in the phone that I would like to retrieve. I brought it to the Nokia care centre in Singapore but they were unable to help as they no longer have the software and hardware to service the phone.
Is there anywhere else I can send the phone to to retrieve the sms stored in the phone? I'm quite sure the messages are still in there; i just need to get them out as the data contained are of utmost importance to me.

Well there are data retrieval companies but they may charge a large amount to do so. But i can't name one as i don't know.

6500 slide sms problem

I got this phone today, all looks good except it wont let me send texts or some other features. I can call without problem.
The error in the notes of the messages which can't be sent is:
Message sending failed No network support for messages.
It's really annoying me I have tried changing the settings. Any ideas how I can fix this? Have contacted tmobile but don't want to have to said 5 days for a responce!

if at all possible try to go on tmobile support site and either have the mms, sms settings resend to your phone or look them up. this might just be your issue. try that first

6500 slide image size bug

Hi everyone,
when i receive multimedia messages with an image attached, the phone doesn't resize the image to fit to the screen so i can only see a small part of the image.
I have no idea how to fix this bug?

I have the same issue.
I've sent a picture to my phone from a nokia, a Motorola and an LG.
Only the nokia sent a picture I could view, both the others sent the top corner of the picture!
However, it is not a compatability issue as the the very same Motorola was sending pictures I could view perfectly, only a few weeks back and no settings have been changed since.
Help anyone???

6500 slide freezes when receiving SMS

hi,
I own a brand new 6500 slider, its only a few weeks old and it has a very upsetting bug.
when the music player is on and the keys lock automatically (set for 1 minute), and i receive an SMS, the phone simply freezes.
The keys are useless, the light wont even turn on when i open the slide, the screen still turns of in its fashionable manner... the only thing i can really do about it is removing and returning the battery to its socket.
Software version is 4.84.
Can anyone help me?

6500 Slide - Max MicroSD Size???

I'm receiving a new 6500 Slide in the next few days, and I'm wondering what memory card to buy.
I know its a MicroSD card, but I've read many contradicting statements on what type (normal or SDHC) it can be used.
I plan to get a 4gb MicroSDHC, but I can't find any support for SDHC anywhere on the 6500 Slide tech specs (but it says support for 4gb), and some reviews I've read say it doesn't support SDHC, but some do.
Can anyone tell me if I can buy a MicroSDHC card and use it without problems?

OK, What I said last is somewhat true!
The phone cannot tell you the size/used/free but it will read over 4gb. i have 6GB of music on my 8gb and it can read it all as far as i can tell, i went through the entire card (170 folders of music) and calculated the total (6000mb+) on my pc. although this slows media player down ALOT

6500 Slide + Mac = Update Issues

I'm wanting to update the firmware on my 6500 Slide, I'm on a Mac. I have BT, and the update section on my phone allows me to update using BT. I just can't find the darned software to download. The beta Mac software doesn't support this phone... LOL. Any help?

Unfortunately you would have to install Windows under BootCamp or use Parallels on your Mac to enable you to use Nokia Software Updater. Although there has been a menu option for updates over the air, in view of increasing size of firmware update and a reluctance for networks to embrace this feature it has never come to anything.

Nokia 6500 slide..Bugs and problems..

Just read some posts regarding the nokia 6500 and it seems i too am not alone with the problems on this model..
I have had nothing but problems with this phone and keeps freezing, cuts out whilst in the middle of a call and generally is the most problem ridden phone nokia must have ever produced.
I cant believe that a trusted company the size of nokia would allow a product like this to be released in the uk market.
I do also understand that nokia now have stiff competition from other manafacturers. And have to fight for the share of the market place. But releasing inferior phones that obviously havent passed the research stage Is hardly the way to keep the customers that they have..
I cant wait till my phone is repaired and put for sale on E bay..Anyone recommend a non nokia alternative...
Anyone considering a phone has to avoid a nokia 6500 slide.

6500 slide stalling when sending MMS

Just recently, my 6500 slide won't send MMS messages. It just seems to be stalling and then ages later, I'm getting a message saying that message sending failed.
I'm not always receiving MMS messages either - I get the same message - that message sending has failed.
If I try to resend or retrieve, it's just hanging and then telling me that it's failed again.
Can anyone help please?

hey thanks for helping! i appreciate it. well i dont know if my settings are all correct, but it seems fine to me. in my account, i did apply for texting for both sms/mms, and mms works if i put my sim card in my other phone, but for some reason this phone just wont work with mms. i dont think the 6500 slide was a USA phone so could that be the problem?
if i were to contact my service provider about this problem, could they help?
yes, i never did recieve the sms setting from nokia. i entered my number and all that good stuff in there about 5 times and never recieved an sms.

I haven't worked with FlashLite but I can tell you that the
fla size has
no influence whatsoever to the player behavior. These are
really 2
different worlds: author-time and run-time. The FlashLite
player has
absolutely no knowledge of the fla, only of the swf.
You should instead look into other areas:
* Are you using Flash techniques that use lot of memory or
are CPU
intensive? (huge bitmaps, heavy scripts, intensive alpha or
gradients, etc.)
* are you using actionscript functions that are not supported
by the
FlashLite player?
You may get better answers if you could describe what type of
problem
you are experiencing.

Problem with Contacts for 6500 slide

I recently bought a Nokia 6500 slide and i`m very pleased, except one thing.
I used to have some other phones, and all my contacts were on the memory of that phone (not on the SIM).
For me to have my contacts on the 6500 slide, i had to move all those contacts on the sim, then insert the sim into the 6500 slide and move them again from there to the phone memory (i hate having my contacts on the sim couse i can't add any aditional info).
Ok, so.. after i moved all my contacts to the phone memory, i saw that from about 200 contacts, i only have about 20. At first i thought "ok, there was a problem with the moving process and i lost them all..." I was just about getting over this, when I realized that those numbers that I lost are still in there, but i can't see them.
If I manualy enter a number of a contact that don't show in my Contacts List, when it dials, the number appears on the screen. Same if that contact calls me. I can't see them in the Contact List tho.
It's like there are hidden or something..
I tried changing the settings so that i can see only the contacts in the SIM (in which case, none apear), only in the phone (only those 20 or so appear) or showing both (still, only 20 or so appear).
The contacts are not in the SIM couse i tried putting the sim back in the old phone, and it's empty.
They must be somewhere in the phone. Is there a hidden setting that i can find, that allows me to see those contacts that I thought I lost? It's very annoying to wait till someone calls me so I can add his number again in the phonebook
To be more specific, let me give an example.
Let's say I had contact "John" with the number "12345678". Now I can't see it anymore.
If i dial 12345678 and then hit "Call", it apears like "Calling John"
If John calls me, it apears like "John" on the screen.
If i try to add John to the phone book I get a message like "A name is already entered for that number"
It's like... all the contacts are already there, but I can't see them

Hello and welcome to the forums;
First, you mention the error references a SIM card, however your profile says you have a Sprint device. A small problem there, and I would like to clear up any confusion as which device you have: a Sprint CDMA device, or one with a SIM card.
Second, have you tried restarting your device? Hold down the power button and move the ringer mute switch next to it back and forth 3 times, then wait 4-5 seconds for the device to restart by itself.
Try this, and let us know what happens.

With the new Keynote upgrade (version 6.1), the slide image size on handouts is very small, which makes it difficult to read slide content when compiling lecture notes for students. Is there a way to make the slide size larger while still keeping to a format of 3 slides per page with lines?

A number of posts have reported the same issue, two workarounds:
1
check the paper handling options or equivalent in your print dialogue box and set to scale to fit
2
in the Keynote option, in the dropdown menu in the Print section, select Individual Slides
then choose Layout, and set the number of pages, when printed you will have multiple pages on a single sheet.

Can't set the time on the 6500 Slide

I just bought a 6500 slide and can't do one of the most basic things - set the time!
I have gone to auto-update but it is shows the wrong time.
At the time I purchased the handset the sales assistant turned the phone on to check if my sim card was working but he may have saved the incorrect date and time.
I have managed to save the correct date but can't for the life of me now save the correct time.
Can anyone help?
