6500 Slide terrible sound quality

Hello,
i just replaced my SE k810 for a Nokia 6500 slide. The problem with the K810 was battery which only lasted for one day. So i thought i`d give Nokia a try. Compared to the SonyEricsson phone, however the sound quality in Nokia is terrible. When i dial a number and press the call button the phone starts buzzing in my ear and the buzzing continues throughout the call. The sound that i hear is metallic and some of the tones seem to be missing at all.
Is this a common problem with this phone? I already returned the phone back to the service but as far as i know all they do there is updating the software, which does not fix anything. 6500 slide owners please comment on the problem.
TY

I agree, the sound quality, among other things make this the worst phone I have ever had. Nothing works on this stupid phone and no one wants to fix it because the say that it has been damaged by rain. Well, that is not strange when it is open in the top ( you charge the phone from the top, stupid feature). So I have a phone that I can't use...

  • Fiddling with volume slider and sound quality

In an attempt to bypass the infamous volume cap that plagues iPods sold in the EU, in the past I fiddled with the volume slider of many of my MP3 tracks, either directly or via third party applications (such as euPod). Afterwards I have changed my mind and reset the slider.
Later on, I have read a few sources claiming that the above procedure would cause a permanent modification of the MP3 file and/or affect sound quality.
I am somewhat puzzled by such claims... Am I really better off re-ripping all those tracks? Can anyone point me towards an undisputed “truth” on this matter?

The third one is a hardware issue: The earbuds jack
is very loose. Apparently, the iPod automatically
pauses playback when the headphones are disconnected.
Hence, I only have to wiggle the connector a bit and
the nano stops playing. This really would be annoying
if I were to go jogging with my iPod ...
hmmm.. that happens to my ipod too and i only got it for christmas. so i was a bit gentle with it.so hence it comes out very easily.
but whilst reading all the replys i decided to be harsher to my ipod and just push my earbuds in all the way..it worked!! that might be the same for u or i might have just been a bit too forgetfull and thought that my ipod was delicate coz its like.. so preety:)
lol im in love with my ipod ..
dont know if this helps..hope it does..

  • Terrible sound quality on my Satellite C50-AOG1

My speakers sound really tinny and the worst I've heard since I had a transistor radio in 1970. I went into the drivers download are but was not able to find anything to improve them. Using 8.1 doesn't help because I'm not sure where you find everything.
    Any ideas?
Anyone else found a shortcoming and solved it or just has a good idea please?

    Hi
Similar thread you can read here .
Problem is that many notebooks have small stereo speakers only and sound quality is unfortunately not so good.

  • Poor Sound Quality in Windows XP SP3

    Hello,
I have installed the latest Realtek HD audio codec driver, but the internal speakers still have terrible sound quality, it seems kind of hollow/tinny. Meanwhile, the sound quality coming through headphones is fine.
Does anyone have a solution? I've seen threads on other forums, but none have a solution, or otherwise the solution is to install the latest driver (which I don't think applies to me)
    Thanks!

Same problem here, I have a 24" iMac. I do however also manage a (2009) 21.5" iMac, though. Which doesn't have this poor audio problem in bootcamp.
I found the difference to be that the two have different sound hardware. The 21.5" iMac has like Cirrus Logic something or other sound and my 24" iMac has the RealTek HD sound.
Just plug in external speakers to the headphone jack, I guess. I have not found a solution either.

  • Nokia 6500 Slide!

Please can tell me how the 6500 slide is?
Ive got a Luna at the mo,and im very happy with it.Only annoying thing is that it has NO memory expansion. So im looking for a replacement.Im thinking about the Slide, but i have seen today one which i could change with my luna, and the camera sucks! The photo quality is whorster then the N73 which i think is almost the same quality as the N95,and the video recording was horrible!!I thought the video recording mode of the Slide would be at 30fps,which would be similar to the N95,but it was the same as the 6300 and Luna for example. So how can this be?I really hoped that the pic quality was same like the N73 and the video recording same like the N95 or a bit less.So i dont know if it is the Slide i looked to which was bad(just 20 days old) or is it just how the Slide's are?If all the slide's are like this i will go for the ugly'er but much more quality baring N82 or the SE k850i.Can someone please answer this??

I never said it was the worst phone on the planet, I simply pointed out that it was not always a trouble-free model (you are lucky, you don't seem to have suffered the issue of the badly-fitting backplate whose metal protrusion didn't always contact with the circuit board switch leading to frequent failure to activate memory card access) and gave my honest opinion of it compared with the other phones that the original poster mentioned.
None of that should detract from your enjoyment of your phone; but the 6500 Slide's build quality (however good it may be) will never compare to the 8600 Luna that the other guy is replacing.

  • Recent Warbly Sound Quality in iTunes -UGH! 'SUP?

For about 6 weeks now I've been experiencing really terrible sound quality (read: like running the songs thru a flanger and taking out the midrange) from songs played in iTunes, whereas they used to sound Excellent. When I open the same files (many AAC, AIFF, Apple Lossless) in Quicktime or Realplayer they sound perfectly fine. Weird. The majority of my songs were ripped from CDs. I haven't changed my EQ settings or done anything unusual other than download the most recent Mac software updates, iTunes included. What's up?
I've always steered clear of using Realplayer (ugh) but if Apple doesn't find a fix soon all those cool new iTunes features are going to go to waste. That'd suck big time.

I have the same problem. I don't think it's the audio enhancer, i disabled that but it hasn't helped. Still hear static from tunes in library. =(

  • Scratchy sound quality

I have a 30GB iPod and it has terrible sound quality. The music sounds staticky -- or as if it's being played through blown speakers. I've played it through three different sets of headphones and two home stereos, and they all sound the same -- crackly. Here's the rub: The songs that sound scratcy on my iPod also sound scratchy when played through iTunes on my laptop. And it doesn't matter what the original source was. Some soungs I've downloaded sound like this, as do songs I've burned from CDs.
Not sure if this is related, but the sound is also fairly muffled. When I play it through my home stereo (which is fairly high-end) I have to crank up the mid-range on the EQ to hear vocals clearly.
    What the ...?
    30

Wow! The EQ really *****, doesn't it? Turning it off made a huge difference. The sound was so bad beforehand that it wasn't even listenable.
The crackling sound is now gone. The mid-range is still kind of dull, but at least it's all clean now.
    Thanks.

  • Nokia 6500 Classic Sound Quality / Buzz

Hi - I have a new 6500 Classic - great phone, but a bit concerned about the sound quality during a call - seems very tinny.
Also - when the phone is on standby - if you put the phone close to your ear you can hear a very faint buzzing from the earpiece.
Are both of these normal with the phone or would there be a fault ?
    Thanks

The speakers on the 6500's are rubbish. Have got 5 X 6500 slides and 1 X 6500 classic at work. All have had both the speakers replaced, a couple twice, plus other issues.

  • MacBook Pro 13" Audio Output sound quality terrible after Lion upgrade

    Hi guys,
I have recently upgraded my 2011 MBP 13 to Lion, and ever since have had terrible audio out sound quality, i.e. it is 'grainy' and full of feedback - very unpleasant to listen to.
Is anyone else in the same boat and does anyone have the solution to my problem?
    Thanks,
    Sam

Sorry for the late reply, yes mine does does recover but I still think it is the same issue with different levels of severity.  This is a guess but possibly my higher spec Retina MacBook Pro can work its way through the issue where your 13" MBP can't or can't in a reasonable amount of time.
I have also thought that it is related to window server and was wondering if someone else would bring it up as semi-confirmation since 2 people would have to came to the same conclusion, yes I am weird you don't have to tell me.  I am thinking it is possibly related to the lower priority for background apps; it gets caught thinking every window is in the background, chokes, and does not know what to do which is why the cursor will still move since it never gets "backgrounded".  As for the caps lock, it is pretty much hardware based which is why we can have a virtual machine not read the caps lock on someimes if it is turned on when the VM is started.
I wish Apple would have more testers so things like this would not slip through.  I see more complaints like this when there are external displays on MacBooks than single display iMacs/Minis.  Something that may not be tested enough since it requires more specific circumstances.
Sorry, I don't know how to restart window server without the terminal.  I would have loved to test the theory since that would answer the question of what is at fault quickly.

I rented a movie on iTunes (Fast and Furious 6) in HD and the sound quality is absolutely terrible the sound is like 4 seconds behind can I fix it?

    Hi jvito2869,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  This article has some steps you can try if your audio is out of sync with the video you rented:

I play music on my hi fi via an airport express attached to my iMac.
Since installing maverick the sound quality is terrible and I get frequent distortion, which never happened before.
I have reset the airport express and reconfigure my wireless settings. I have also used Ethernet on its own but still get the same sound problems.
I would love to turn itunes sound off as you used to be able to do, but this I believe can't be done.
Has anyone else been having the same types of problem, and better still has anyone got the answer?

When the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) is connected by Ethernet, you will find an option in the AirPort Utility, labeled: Enable AirTunes over Ethernet on the Music pane. Just select this option to allow streaming iTunes via the AirPort's Ethernet port. You should also be able to disable the AX's wireless so that it shouldn't interfere with the nearby TC.

  • IMovie sound quality changes after export and is terrible

when i export my imovie the sound quality becomes bad and sounds like my speakers are blown but their not, it sounds perfectly fine in imovie but after its exported it changes to worse, anyone know how to fix this?

Check your audio levels. and if necessary, reduce the levels so that the audio stays under the 0 DB line. If you have audio that is yellow or red, reduce the level. This video shows an example of how to do this. Click on the video All New Audio Editing."

  • IPod touch sound quality terrible

    iPod touch sound quality terrible

Try another set of earphones to rule out the earphones as being the cause.
    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack or other hardware problem.

  • Poor sound quality in iDVD

When I previewed my music video in iDVD it looked and sounded exactly right but when I burned it to a DVD and played it on my home DVD player, the sound quality was not "CD quality". It sounded crappy like a cassette. I played the DVD on the built in DVD player in the computer and it played back perfectly. When I play commercial DVD's on my home player the sound is fine, CD quality.
So far I have not attempted to play the DVD on other DVD players but I will do so although I doubt it will help. A friend of mine claims that this is all the MAC can produce at this level and that IDVD5 is only good for "consumer" applications like family slide shows and home movies. I disagree. I feel that the music recorded on an iMAC should sound extremely close to the quality that you hear coming out of the computer itself. There has to be a reason for that much degradation to occur in the audio upon burning a DVD. Has anyone else experienced this problem with the audio? I may try to bring a data copy of the video to a production house and burn it there, bypassing iDVD. My feeling is that even home movies should have CD quality music. Otherwise there's no point in using MAC at this level if the sound quality sounds terrible on all players except the MAC. As a pro songwriter, I wanted to try my hand at making music videos at home. Well, the video looks great but the audio sounds terrible. HELP!
    iMAC G5   Mac OS X (10.4.4)   20"

Thank you for those reassuring words. I'll try to give as many pertinent details as I can. I created the project in iMovie and exported it to iDVD. The song was taken from my professionally recorded CD and was loaded to iTunes. It was recorded at a pro-tools studio at a 24-bit rate. It sounded perfect when played in iTunes. The DVD I used was 8X DVD+R. (pro-media brand) They were pretty cheap. Could that be the problem? I didn't actually change any export settings. They seemed to have all been pre-set (checks in blue boxes) to "highest quality". When I first opened iMovie I simply clicked on "audio" and chose one of my songs from iTunes Library. If you have any other questions, let me know. Please point out what to click on to find the answers. Access to the cool people on this board has given me new hope about getting the most out of my iMAC. It's an incredible tool that has inspired my creativity far beyond my expectations. (Garageband is a great bang for the buck..kind of like Pro-Tools Jr.!) I think I may take classes at the Apple Store in NYC. The "missing manuals" are really of very little value when tackling specific problems in detail.

I'v got te same problem with my 6500 Slide, is there a button combination that we have to press
to hard reset the 6500 Slide?!
How does the 6500 slide hard reset?
    That's simple.
All you have to do is:
From MENU goto SETTINGS, When there scroll down and select 'Restore Factory Setting'.
There are two options in there:
    "Restore Settings only"
    and
    "Restore all"
    Select "Restore All"
When done the phone will delete every thing on the Phone memory(C:\)(contacts,picture,messages etc)
and also restore phone to its original settings and will restart.
This proceedure is mostly common on S40 phone.
Hope this explain and solve the problem.
