6500A Printer - Calibrate Media Sense/Spot Sensor

Hello,
I have a HP 6500A all in 1 printer. Recently it has been refusing to print, saying that there is a paper size mismatch. I am set to print on A4 and there is A4 in the tray so I don't see why there is an issue. After a little reading I see that the spot sensor may have to be calibrated but the only instructions I can find online to get into the service menu are for the older models with hard buttons.
Can anybody please tell me how to do this with the 6500A with soft touch buttons? Or any other light that you could shed on the situation would be much appreciated.

I’ve had my HP B9180 Photosmart Pro Printer for about 2-1/2 years. My computer operating system is Windows XP (with up-to-date service packs) on a Dell XPS PC. The printer is connected directly to the computer via a USB port. It is not connected to a network router. The printer stays on continuously, is very clean & dust free and kept covered when not in use. I use the specialty media tray almost exclusively for loading the larger/heavier media. The specialty media tray suddenly stopped working recently but all other printer operations continue to function properly.
When the tray is lowered, NOTHING HAPPENS. The printhead assembly does not raise up to prepare for loading the media and there is no sound, no grinding, etc. The printer screen does not change to instruct me to load the media and there are no error messages. It just continues to read “READY”.
I have examined the tray and it still lowers and raises nice & smooth. The guide grooves the tray rides on are clean & unobstructed. Nothing appears to be broken on the tray or in the grooves. There is a small plastic arm at the bottom of the outer left guide groove that I thought may start (?) the activation process of the printheads when the lowered tray rests on it. This arm is spring-loaded and appears to be working freely with no binding. Manual operation (with my finger) of the arm does not activate anything.
Early on, when the problem first started, I tried leaving the tray lowered and on two occasions, after leaving it lowered for as much as a couple of hours, it started working on its own. Since then, I have been unable to make it work at all.
I have tried:
Turning the printer off for several minutes, then back on.
Opening all doors to check for jams or anything unusual.
Lowering and raising the specialty media tray multiple times.
Using main tray (hoping it would maybe vibrate it into working).
Turning the printer off, unplugging everything for up to 10 minutes.
Downloaded & ran the HP Hardware Diagnostic Utility (Passed).
Downloaded & ran the HP Print Diagnostic Utility, v4.1 (Passed).
Checked printer updates. Firmware & updates are OK.
Posted on the HP Support Forum for assistance (no response).
I did not run the HP Home Network Diagnostic Utility because I do not have the printer connected to my network router. It is directly connected to my computer via a USB port.
This problem has come up on the HP Support Forum a few times but I don’t believe there has been a response. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

I just installed or used the same specification of Printer you mentioned above in fact all you need do is to first update your macbook pro afterwards connect your printer to your mac it will ask you if you want to download software for the printer click yes and in two minutes follow the steps and you're done. You don't need the driver nor do you need to download from an external source.

How to disable the ethernet media sense on Windows 8.1 ?

On Windows 8.1 we need to keep the network interface available for applications even with cable unpluged.
On XP, there is a working registry key for DHCP (used as a buggy feature?) :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters
Value Name: DisableDHCPMediaSense
Data Type: DWORD
Value Data Range: 0, 1 (False, True)
But on Windows 8.1, disabling DhcpMediaSense does not have the same behavior.

Usually the media sense is desired feature and there is no documented way to disable it on modern Windows. To keep a network permanently enabled, you can create a bridge that includes the physical netcard and use it as the network interface.

What does that mean? Have you downloaded the drivers and to installed them? Have you tried adding the printer with the AirPrint Driver?

Same problem with the same printer here.
When I send a photo from my phone (via ePrint) the result is not as clear as I would like.
In addition to settings for brightness, I would also like to know if it's possible to change the size of the printed photo. (if you print a photo from windows you'll get a wizzard that lets you choose from different sizes)

Media Sense and Silent monitoring

Hi,
Is silent monitoring isn't available now for UCCX 10.5 and we should order media sense for recoding or still uccx include silent monitoring ?
If still included. What is encourage me to use media sense ? I mean what is the benefits for media sense over silent monitoring.
Also can I use QM and AQM with media sense ? or it is used only by CR ?
Final question: Can I use media sense or CR as a recording solution for CUCM to record all calls or for on demand recording ?

May I know you installed Basic Print Driver or Full Feature Software?
I am not holding 7110 printer but I have access officejet 6700 and Photosmart 7510.
Anyway, you should able to see the similar print options if you did install full feature software.
When you print, under the print advance options, there is an option called. "HP Real life Technologies". You may on this option and it will "automatically remove redeye in photographs and to automatically adjust high-contrast photos to reveal details that are otherwise lost in shadows. I have attached the screen shot for your reference."

I am an amteur photographer and personally, I do prefer to do post processing jobs in Photoshop first and then use the printer just to print by choosing the apporopirate photopaper and using Best Mode.
May be you might have differnet preferences way of doing it. I am just sharing my way of printing photos
By the way, when you install Full Feature Software, you have the option to install HP Photo Creation Software which is very simple and easy to create greeting cards, photo books and many other things. Maybe you might give it a try if you have not tried.

IOS 5 won't find HP 6500A printer?

Upgraded to iOS 5 and iPad2 will no longer find HP Officejet 6500A printer. Worked fine automatically before upgrade. Something I need to change?

I would recommend:
Unplugging your printer and router.
Clear out all apps from the multi-tasking section of your iPad.
Verify in the Settings app of your iPad that Bluetooth is off.
Plug your router in and allow it to power on fully.
Plug you printer in and allow it to power on fully.
On the printer, navigate to the Setup menu, Web Services Setup, Product Updates, and Check for Product Updates to ensure the printer is up-to-date.

On ipad to hp 6500A printer, message says contacting printer, but does not connect.

New 6500A prints wirelessly ok from vista laptop and desktop. also prints from ipad printbureau app. but when printing direct from ipad email or pic, I get message that it is "contacting printer", but will not go any further to connect

I have the HP Envy--but it's at my studio and I'm at home so I'm going off memory here, and my understanding of networking is,shall we say, limited. But, as the HP Envy is an AirPrint printer, you don't need Print and Share or any of the other wireless printing apps (although I have Print and Share).
I have a WiFi iPad 2. After Setting up the Envy, I just joined a local wireless network using the Envy touchscreen and then joined that same network on my iPad. Then, when I choose Print in, for example, Pages, the Envy appears after the Select Printer option.
All I can suggest is to make sure the Envy has a connection to the same wireless network as your iPad. (in my case I have to select a local network which does not have Internet access as my Envy isn't registered on the university-wide network.)
(I did complete the initial setup of the Envy on my laptop (MacBook Pro) (and which requires a USB cable for setup) and that gave me printing and scanning options from my MacBook. I don't see how that would have any bearing on the AirPrint function from the iPad.)
(I do think that the Envy printer is an amazingly useful little printer, especially with the ability to scan to a flash drive or SD card.)

Printing booklet duplex on 6500a+ printer not working

Printing booklet in duplex on 6500a+ printer with the following print settings is not working. I have no problem printing this same booklet duplex on the 6500 base printer.
The problem wasn't the 6500a+, it was MS Word 2007. With MS Word 2010, it printed the booklet in duplex just fine. Here's the matrix:
MS Word 2007 and HP 6500, prints booklet in duplex automatically.
MS Word 2007 and HP 6500A+, must duplex manually.
MS Word 2010 and HP 6500, must duplex manually.
MS Word 2010 and HP 6500A+, prints booklet in duplex automatically.

HP OfficeJet 6500A Printer goes offline shortly after setup

Hi,
Question is: How do I stop my HP 6500A e710a-f printer from going offline? (this is NOT the 6500A+)
I have a Dell laptop running Win8.0, connecting wirelessly via a Huawei B593 LTE router. Printer is HP 6500A using the E710a-f driver. Printer is attached to the router via an ethernet cable.
I can create a new HP 6500A printer and print a test page over the wireless network. However, shortly after this, the printer goes 'offline'. I have tried to re-connect by restarting the Printer Servies, but - again - this only helps for a short period of time. i have also re-created the printer from scratch by deleting and then re-creating the printer. Again, the same result.
This should be a standard offering for what is an expensive home office printer with standard ethernet ports. Most home offices use wireless routers - so this should be a simple connection.
I have looked through the Forums, but not seen any definitive answer - a lot of suggestions over the last few years, but no straight answer. Apart from the guy who left and bought an Epson instead........!
It cannot be that hard to fix what should be a standard offering for this printer.
Can someone help me?

HP 6500A printer not found on Ipad

Purchased a new Imac and bought the HP 6500A printer which is one of the ones Ipad can use. I try to print but keep getting "no printer found. I know the printer has a wireless connection because I am able to print from my Imac. What am I doing wron?

First, have you updated the Printers firmware to the latest version? The Printer comes out of the box without support for AirPrint. You can run the update from the front panel of the Printer. There are some additional trouble shooting steps in my [FAQ|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2658560&tstart=0] thread. If you have verified you have the latest firmware, and have done all the trouble shooting steps, post back and we'll see what we can do.
