6509E Fan tray 1 mode change failed

I have just installed a CEF720 8 port 10GE with DFC   WS-X6708-10GE card in an existing 6509E Chassis and it shuts down due to inadequate cooling.
I have another 6509E Chassis with exactly the same setup and it works ok with that. Both are brand new.
The one transfers to High power mode and the other fails when trying to swap to restricted mode.

Hi see the below information:
About the Fan Tray Mode: This high power mode may change to restricted power mode depending upon the environment temperature, the fan may be working at High or Restricted mode depending on the cooling needed at the moment.
Restricted Power mode: This is a default mode for a fan-tray operation. This mode ensures that there is an adequate amount of cooling provided to the chassis to keep its temperature in control.
High Power mode: This is another mode which is used for future line cards if there an increase in temperature due to addition of modules. In our case, this mode only gets in use when there is WS-X6708-10GE module inserted. Logs are getting displayed as new module is causing rise in chassis temperature and fan-tray has to accommodate more cooling thereby changing its operating mode.
The WS-X6708-10GE requires 84 cfm. Installing a second fan module in the chassis should bring the chassis cooling capacity up to 84 cfm per line card. WS-X6708-10GE is supported in non-E Series chassis at operating temperature up to 40 C only.
Hope this helps.

  • URGENT: Can (no) Fan tray in a 6509 cause power problems?

    All,
I'm about to install a 6509-E with two 10/100/1000 Blades and two SUP2's (running cat6000-sup2k9.8-1-3.bin)
They're all brand new. With the Enhanced chassis they ordered the wrong fan tray and as I write a courier is bringing over the correct Fan Tray within 2 hours. The config must be up and running by tomorrow morning and as my schedule is very tight I wonder if I still can make it. Besides that I want to check if all blades are responding well.
Problem is that the line cards are not booting in any case, the supervisors does! Do not worry about the heat; a powerful airco is blowing enough cooling through the chassis and the system is powered off after a few minutes.
The errors spitted out after boot and when entered when powered on:
    **** elbid_get_common_idprom_size error
    **** elbid_get_common_idprom_size error
    **** elbid_get_common_idprom_size error
    **** elbid_get_common_idprom_size error

Is that typical when booting with no fan tray? Or are the two line cards DOA?
    On the CCO you find:
SYS-1-MOD_PWRSPROMFAIL: Power mgmt sprom failure for module [dec]
Explanation: This message indicates that a serial EPROM read on a module has failed; [dec] is the module number. The module is powered off.
Recommended Action: Contact your technical support representative
That really helped me a lot!! Doh!
So my only hope is the Cisco Forum, meaning YOU guys!
I hope someone provide me an answer within 2 hours because if they will be DOA I can blow off the migration.
    Thanks in advance!
    L.

    Hi :
It appears that the card is not supported in the code you are running. Could you quickly tell me the part # of the card. I am suspecting you have the new WS-X6148A-GE-TX ( notice the A ) , that card is supported in 8.4(1).
    Check the release notes.
    http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/cat6000/relnotes/ol_4498.htm
The message says that the system is unable to read the idprom on the line cards and the reason for that would most likley be the lack of support in that code for that line card. Fan tray being hot swappable suggests that the cards should atleast be detected even when the fan tray is not there.
    Hope this helps .

  • Bypass High Speed fan tray req for Sup720

Anyone use the command to disabled this feature? What's the command? What's the procedure (boot ROM)? How long can the system run without causing damage? Immediate need to boot until high fan tray can be delivered.

The command is ALLOWANYFAN=1 in ROMMON. I did not have to use set to add variable, but use it to view. I'm not sure if it's case sensitive. I used all upper case and alarm indicators went out on sup module. Here's some log outout. Notice the temp rising. (The chassis powered down sup module after approx. 5 minutes without these commands. Notice the logg buff output warnings).

    Enable mode authorization faile
I have checked his user info and group info in tacacs.

It seems that you have command author configured that is why user in not able to issue it.
What kind of user is it ? Admin or normal user.
To make him login you need to make changes in the command author set.
Make one command autho set in acs --->shared profile componenets.
add-->give any name "Full access "---> Put radio button to permit and submit.
Now go to that group-->Under Shell Command Authorization Set---> Choose--->Assign a Shell Command Authorization Set for any network device and select FULL ACCESS from list and submit apply.
Now it should let you in.
Caution : This is let that uses to issue all commands
Also provide me more info if you want user to deny some commands. We need to set up command autho set accordingly.

User Password change fails in OWA with this error: Your password couldn't be changed. Make sure the old password you typed is correct and that the new password meets the minimum security requirements.
We are migrating from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013.  Have mailboxes in both environments.  OWA 2007 password changes succeed (user mailbox is still in Exchange 2007).  When the user mailbox is moved to Exchange 2013, password changes fail
    with the above error.
We have the Exch 2013 servers are on Windows 2012 and we are running Exch 2013 CU3.   We have made changes to the Default Role Assignment Policy to prevent users from changing Contact information and setting user photos, etc.  We are not exactly
sure when user password changes stopped working, or even if they ever did work, although we recently installed our Prod Exch 2013 servers alongside our 2007 servers without any RBAC delegation implemented and a quick test of a user password change was successful.
I reversed all the changes to the Default Role Assignment Policy but the password change still fails.

    Hi,
Please try the following steps in your CAS server:
    1. Click Start > Run and type regedit and click OK.
    2. Navigate to the "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchange OWA" key.
    3. Set the ChangeExpiredPasswordEnabled value from 1 to 0.
    4. Close regedit and re-open it.
    5. Set the ChangeExpiredPasswordEnabled value from 0 to 1.
    6. Close regedit.
    7. After you configure this DWORD value, please reset IIS. The recommended method to reset IIS is to use IISReset /noforce from a command prompt.
Here is the similar thread about password change issue in Exchange 2013 CU3, please refer to:

  • Gnu readline with vi mode change visualization

After a lot of searching how to get some kind of vi mode indicator working with GNU readline I've decided to hack readline myself. It's working fine for me and because I'm happy archlinux user I've decided to share my findings here, so maybe somebody will find it useful too.
there is a patch to readline needed - I've created AUR package readline-vi-mode-changed-hook
additional logic / configuration to provide your visualization
To not double post what I've already wrote in more detailed way, here is the link to my personal blog where I've documented the whole thing.
There are however few things still bugging me and maybe somebody will be able to help me with that. The particular thing which I would like to solve is to get escape sequence for changing cursor color working inside screen and tmux. I've found trick for screen but what is expectable is that when switching windows the cursor color is not reset by screen to last color set in particular window. Because cursor color sequence is not really a standard nor part of termcap / terminfo I feel it will not be so easy / possible ?

Sara wrote:Am using this with GNU screen, and it works great (no change in cursor color, of course, but I think I actually prefer that, as it isn't inconvenient to look at the window title in DWM). Thanks for sharing the patch--I don't know how I ever lived without it
Well I started with the window title as I use Xmonad, then I realized that looking up or down on screen isn't very convenient for me (mainly because of a big screen I have) but it's still fine, so I was thinking about visualization which would be closest to the prompt location, cursor color was natural choice however it is not very reliable in terminal multiplexers and in general. The latest and my favorite now is the change of prompt itself (eg. bold version).
Anyway thanks for feedback, firstly when published this I thought nobody is using VI mode with readline judging based on almost no feedback at all. It's cool that at least somebody found this patch useful .

Would you be interested in porting this to NetBSD editline (libedit)?
Open/FreeBSD also use it, just in case that qualifies as incentive.
I don't use any application which uses editline. I know it just in the meaning that it is implementing similar functionality as readline do. I guess then some applications usually can be compiled with readline or editline (if author thinks it can be useful based on different licenses and so on) ... does the *BSD systems do it that way ? Anyway I have editline in my mind if I would maybe implement some application where I would need readline functionality. Readline is fine but to be honest I found the source code of it not very nice. So to your question ... as I'm not user of the editline so far I am not planing to port this patch there anytime soon.
Just out of my curiosity which let's say well known applications can be compiled against readline and editline, is it out of box provided by upstream or usually patches are done for it. How it works in *BSD then ? In my archlinux box I frequently use mainly 2 readline applications (bash, i/python).

  • IMac tries to start in safe mode but fails.

I have a Mid 2010 iMac running Maverick. I added 16gb of ram to the 4 existing which I have done on many Macs. It started up but after a minute or two it forced restarted on its own. I then tried it a few more times and continued to crash then restart. I started it in safe mode. It nearly loaded completely the safe start then shut down. Any time I now try to start it, it does the same thing, starts in safe mode then fails. I have taken the 16 extra gas of ram out and it still fails to load. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Have you tried repairing the disk? I know it seems simple but sometimes this can be the problem.
Hold down Command+R when starting the computer, select repair disk from the menu.
This won't delete any data and may not work but it's worth a try.

  • PJC Calendar setDate Wrong date format. Date change failed?

Forms 10.1.2 using forms demos pjc code.
The calendar pjc I added to my form works except I can't initialize it with a date. If I try to initialize a date it always produces 'Wrong date format. Date change failed.' error.
In a post-query trigger, I initialize the calendar's date using:
    SET_CUSTOM_PROPERTY('PJC.CALENDAR',1,'setDate',to_char(:lead.date_received,'DD.MM.YYYY'));
In the java console, this yields:
Warning: Wrong date format. Date change failed.
Warning: Wrong date format. Date change failed.
I get the same result when using a hardcoded date like:
    SET_CUSTOM_PROPERTY('PJC.CALENDAR',1,'setDate','01.12.2006');
What is the flaw in my incantation?

    Hello,
This is the syntax used in the calendarpjc Forms demo:
call the setDate method on the calendar PJC via the PL/SQL built in
        set_custom_item_property
convert Oracle date to String recognised by Java
      procedure setDate(d in date) is
      begin
        set_custom_property(lGlobals.hCalendar,1,'setDate',to_char(d,'Mon DD, YYYY'));
      end;     Francois

  • How to control item between Form mode change

    Hi Experts
I am using B1DE to do something like some item's enable status will be changed following the Form mode change.
For instance, add a new matrix into system form, if changing the Form mode to Find, I want to disable this matrix, if changing to Add mode, the matrix should be enable.
Do you how how to do this?
    Thanks
    Tim

    Hi,
You need to capture Menu Event in your code and can make matrix either editable or non editable.
Sub MenuEvent(ByRef pVal As SAPbouiCOM.MenuEvent, ByRef BubbleEvent As Boolean)
            Try
                Dim oForm As SAPbouiCOM.Form = objMain.objApplication.Forms.ActiveForm
                If pVal.BeforeAction = False Then
                    If pVal.MenuUID = "1281" Then                // For Find Mode
//make matrix editable or non editable
                    End If
                End If
            Catch ex As Exception
                objMain.objApplication.StatusBar.SetText(ex.Message)
            End Try
        End Sub

  • History Panel Option to ignore Layer Blend Mode Changes

Using shift+plus and minus keys to see various layer blend modes eats up my History. Not quite sure why it even records... you can't use the History Brush to "blend" previous blend modes. And it is not difficult to go back to a previous blend mode. I'd like to see a History Option to ignore Layer Blend Mode Changes, like you have for Layer Visibility Changes.

OK. Changes in the Blending Dialog don't record in History until committed. Thanks!
But I don't see a way to quickly go through the various Blend Modes like you can with Shift+ plus/minus keys. I really like that keyboard method to rapidly view and compare various Blend Modes.

  • Question about X-Fi mode changes and relay clicks

    Hello,
I've been having a heck of a time getting my new x-fi elite pro to work nicely in my computer (I have an MSI K8N neo4 platinum -- nforce4 chipset -- I'm aware of the issues). I kept having issues with the mode changer not working right about 50% of the time. Either it would stop recognizing my x-fi, or the SPI process would crash. In either case I could no longer change modes and the external box would stop working until a reboot. I tried many, many PCI slot swaps and driver reinstalls. Currently, things seem to be working ok (at least as far as mode switching goes...ASIO is another story) in that I can change modes without crashes...at least for the last half hour or so.
The only thing bothering me is that now, when I change modes, I almost never hear the relay click. Maybe out of 20 mode changes I get the click. Before, when the mode would successfully change, I'd always hear the click. Now, that's not the case. I'm wondering if the mode changing is really working correctly even though I'm not getting any crashes. So, my question to others is, when you change modes, do you always hear the relay click? I'm trying to get this all figured out before I decide to send it back. ASIO drivers work in creation mode, my cmss settings show up right in entertainment mode, etc...so maybe it's working right. I'm just not sure.
    Thanks in advance.

Nevermind.... I rebooted for the heck of it. The relays clicked every time until I went into audio creation mode and actually used the ASIO drivers. Then, I tried to switch back to entertainment mode and SPI crashed on me again. I think it's about time to send this thing back, I've wasted about 2 hours trying to get this thing to work right.
    Thanks anyway.

  • Mode Change 32 bit to 16 bit

Mode Change 32 bit to 16 bit seems to be a bug.
When changing from 32 bit to 16 bit, CS5 opens an HDR sscreen and doesn't allow the change.

    Thank you!

That's normal as 32bit contains way more colors than 16/8 bit so it opens up the HDR Toning dialog so that you can tell Photoshop how you want it to handle all those colors. The change to 16bit happens after you click on OK in that dialog.

  • DHCP in 6509E in VSS mode

    Hi,
I am in the process of installing two 6509Es in VSS mode. Our enviroment uses the core switches as the DHCP server for the IP Phones; however, I was wondering how this would work in case they go on standalone mode. Which one would be the dhcp server in this case? Or, will both act as dhcp server? something I don't believe since they won't know which IP has been already assigned creating multiple conflicts.
    Is this possible?
    Thanks in advanced.

    Hi,
I think you should use a SXJ Software.

  • "No Sound" on Cold Boots with X-Fi (warm boots or mode changes fix

I recently built a system with the following specs and the computer is ?Cold Booting? with ?no sound? in Entertainment Mode or ?Noise? for sound if the X-Fi is cold booted from Game Mode. A warm boot or Mode change usually fixes it but the problem comes back upon cold booting. The computer Specs are: Windows XP Pro. (SP2)AMD X2 4800+ASUS A8N5X nForce4 Motherboard (latest BIOS)Corsair TWINX2048-3500LLeVGA 7900GTX (latest Drivers)OCZ 600W GameXstream PSSound Blaster X-Fi Platinum (latest Drivers, etc.)
I have no IRQ Conflicts and the onboard sound is ?disabled?. The problem seemed to appear after a week or so working with the system. Everything else is perfect on the system and it'ss very frustrating to have this issue. I am not convinced that the sound card is bad, I think it'ss a Creative driver/software issue. Does anyone else have this problem and or is there a fix ?
    !!! PLEASE HELP !!!

    EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM HERE!
I havent got another motherboard to test my x-fi xtreme music on, but it's a very frustrating problem, if i boot up from cold the soundcard is either not recognised or is recognised but there's no sound output.
My motherboard is ASUS P5E3 Pro,
    Memory: 8GB OCZ DDR3 600
    Cpu: x9650 extreme @ stock 3.0GHz
    Psu: Coolermaster 850w modular
Gfx: HD 5770 (will be changing this to a HD4890 soon as it's rubbish)
Ive tried all sorts of combinations to try and get this soundcard working properly, stick of ram, etc... NOTHING WORKS AND IM ANNOYED!
Ive played about with just about every bios setting i can find (theres a lot on this board) and still no luck, i've got the latest bios flashed and everything is upto date, as a musician this problem is very irritating, having to reboot the computer about 3 times to get the sound working! even then theres problems with sound drop-outs.
Makes no difference if i use windowsXP or windows7 the problem still remains, i might ask asus to make a bios update for this problem because im not sure if creative have the answers.
