6513 SUP720 CPU high due to VLC player multicast streams

We are running one linux PC with 3 VLC streams for our company Add, last couple days I notices that our multicast source router, where this VLC PC connected is running on high cpu utilization, and I did the following troubleshooting
After I disconneted this PC form network, the CPU process is normal.
The PC is running on Linux, what could be the probelm.

the issue is that the mcast streams sourced by the PC have TTL=1

Those packets cannot be handled in hardware, and therefore require CPU assistance > High CPU, as packets with TTL=1 cannot be routed and must be sent to the CPU for it to generate the TTL expired ICMP message.
Easiest solution is to configure your VLC streams to use a TTL>1 in order to avoid TTL expiration in vlan120.
Problem is pretty common on all Cisco switches, not only on cat6k.

They often kick-me out from my place and started to use my resaurces. And also Mackeeper make me a hard time!
In Microsoft times u just reinstalled computer – clean installetion from corporate licensed disk. But now I am a beginner in MAC – I love it! But a lot of new and triky – at this way

Some videos not playing in Quicktime but WILL play on VLC Player
Hello,
All of a sudden, some of my video files will not play on Quicktime. OT reads the length of the movie but when I click play, all I get is a black screen and no sound even though the progress bar rolls per usual. When I open the videos in my VLC Player, the play just fine. This is not with all of my movies. Some movies play fine in Quicktime. Also, if this helps, Final Cut X will not recognize these movie files for import. Am using Quicktime 10.1.
Thoughts? Help? Anyone?

Installed QT 7 and videos play fine. No issues. I don't have QT7 Pro.
Not sure if this will work, but if I had a copy of the non-playing file, the first thing I would try would be to open the file in MPEG Streamclip and re-save the data to a "real" MOV file container to see if it would then be playback compatible with the QT X player app.
Tried Streamclip and it will save as MOV but the size changes (from 640x480 to 720x480 and I get a stretched look. OT X will play it however. Tried to "export" using differrent formats but with mixed results. Sometimes I got sound but no video. I will continue to fiddle with settings but it doesn't seem like a reliable path to go down.
Could I be missing the codec component? Is there a way to check?
Not very likely if any files play have the same video compression format. Had the non-playing files been encoded with one of the HD DV codecs, then yes, that might have been a possibility whould could have been checked.
Would your answer be the same now that we know QT7 plays the videos without any issues?
Exported out to a .dv file. Format exact same as the working one above. Plays fine.
Of course. You exported the audio and video as a DV compressed data in DV stream file container. Thus, both the file format and compression format are now QT X compatible.
The container is a .dv. I did rename it to .mov at one point to see if that helped but got the same result.
Of course. Changing the file extension is like calling a cup of coffee a glass of coffee—i.e., the coffee is still in a cup. Basically, this only works if the data in the container is already compatible with the file container and the container is compatible with the player. For instance, H.264/AAC compressed data will play in either QT 7 or QT X players whether it is in an MOV, MP4, or M4V file container. On the other hand, "muxed" MPEG-2/AC3 data won't play in the QT X v10.2 player with a VOB file extension but will play if you change the extension to TS or MPG. On the other hand, the VOB or MPG file (with the QT MPEG-2 playback codec component installed) will play in both QT 7 (without audio) and MPEG Streamclip while the TS file won't open in the QT 7 player but plays fine with audio in MPEG Streamclip.

If you also have an online DropBox account, then yes, that would be a good method for posting large files. You then only have to post or email the URL to the people you want to have access to the data.
True. One of the issues is that I want to re-edit some of these files which means I need to get them into FCP. I know there is a workaround, i.e. importing them into iMovie like I did and then spitting them out again so they will play but I feel like I am losing quality that way. Aren't I? This was before I started saving projects so I could always go back into them. Plus, I really want to preserve the original files for backup sake.

DVD DOES NOT PLAY - WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER OR VLC PLAYER
I have Windows 8 64-bit OS with latest updates. I tried to play a Zumba fitness DVD, however, it does not play in Windows Media Player or VLC player. I receive an error, Unknown Disk. Other DVDs do play.
I tried to play the DVD in Linux (Videos) and I also received an error, however, I could easily resolve the problem here as it was determined that the disk is protected and I downloaded the fix for Linux.
How do I resolve the problem in Windows?

This is could be due to the DRM (Digital Rights Management). Let’s try these steps and check if it helps.
Rename the DRM folder:
Step 1:
a. Start Windows Explorer. To do this, press Windows key + E from desktop.
b. Click on View and place a check mark on Hidden items.
Step 2:
Locate the DRM folder on the computer. Typically, the DRM folder is located in the following location.
a. C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\DRM (where C:\ is the system drive).
b. If you are not able to rename the DRM folder because of Access Denied error, you will have to take permission of the folder.

I have re-installed successfully iTunes without solving the problem that it skips, freezes or otherwise doesn't work correctly whenever I'm viewing video on VLC player or attempting to view videos online?
Also, when playing music on iTunes my VLC video player pauses during song transitions?
Also, when dowloading music it sometimes shows a dot instead of the ioTunes music note logo abd iTines refuses to import or convert it into the iTunes Library?

Uninstall the Flash plugin then reinstall new > Troubleshoot Flash Player | Mac OS
Very important to uninstall the currently installed plugin first.
Now launch Safari and try a video.
If you have the ClickToFlash extension installed, that can prevent Flash based video from streaming. It can also be installed as a plugin in /Library/Internet-Plug-Ins.
And check to see if Safari is running in 32 bit mode. Right or control click the Safari icon in your Applications folder then click Get Info. If the box next to: Open in 32 bit mode is selected, deselect, quit then relaunch Safari.
You may also need to delete the cache associated with Safari .
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy/paste: ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari
Click Go the move the Cache.db file from the com.apple.Safari folder to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari. Try a video. -
VLC player plugin conflict with Windows Media Player plugin in Firefox 8.0.1
After I upgraded to Firefox 8.0.1, Windows Media Player stopped playing embedded videos within the Firefox browser.
If you go to Add-ons and disabled VLC player plugin, Firefox will start to plays any Windows Media Player videos without any issue.
The minute I click to enable VLC, Windows Media Player stop working again. This problem is not used to happen in Firefox 6.02.
Please help me with problem. any suggestions will be appreciated.You can disable the VLC plugin from the Addons window. Choose Plugins, find VLC in the list and disable it.

Windows 8 graphics not good in vlc player and audio is choppy
even though everything is fine in windows 8 in my macbook pro 2011 model , videos in vlc player is not of good quality.
Audio in youtube makes a strange shrill sound after a while . I have all latets bootcamp drivers installed (amd radeon one for graphics).
Will any bootcamp updated drivers fix it?likely people repport that the nvidia part of the gpu don't work in win8 in bootcamp currently

There's a vlc streamer app in the app store, but you would need to also install the streamer helper on the device where the movies reside. This works between my macbook and my ipad, but if you cannot access the external drive and install the helper file, then probably not -

Then ask on a vlc forum, or the TV support site.
Some companies streaming TV will not be intending for you to operate in such a manner and potentially save their content. Copyright issues are likely to be involved. -
X-Fi DD-DTS doesn't seem to work right playing DVD Movies with VLC Player or anything els
I have an X-Fi Platinum with the bay and When I try to Play a DVD with VLC Player And choose a/52 over s/pdif it sounds HORRID skipping and pausing and not functioning at all.. I must choose 5. channel to have Listenable Audio. The Same goes for AC3 Encoded Files If I chose A/52 over S/PDIF in VLC player it sounds like **bleep** and doesn't seem to decode it right. I must chose stereo 2 channel to listen to AC3 encoded video's.. NOTE The dolby Digital symbol DOES appear when i chose A/52 over S/PDIF so it does know it's a digital signal.. And I have the software set to USE hardware decoder and S/PDIF in Decode selected. NOW Here's something that REALLY makes me wonder wtf is wrong, I can connect my Home DVD Player or Cable Box over the Optical?in OR the S/PDIF in and the SOB works Fine, The Dolby Digital symbol comes up and everything sounds great! error -43 when try playback on win7 64bits over the network QT that recide MacPro osx 10.5 however i can play with VLC player, This happend when the QT is inside a Folder with name longer 8 chars other files has no problem with long names just the QT nfs sharing
Never mind, I already found the solution myself.
What I did wrong was:
- not copying the master image to the nbi folder
- selecting the netinstall-restore.dmg image as source to copy to my HD.
The thing is, when you create a netinstall image for 10.5, the image itself is already included in the netinstall image so you don't have to do anything else.
With the 10.4 image however, you also have to copy the master image to the NetBootSP0 directory.
In the *.nbi folder contains an netinstall-restore.dmg file. But that is only to boot you to netrestore, it's not the image itself.
Other alternative is to copy the images to another folder that you share with AFP and adjust the configuration of netrestore like described in this manual:

This manual was also how I figured out that I forgot to copy the image to the NetBootSP0 folder. -
Preview in Finder windows does not work with VLC Player

i am using vlc player, and whenever i access a folder where i have many avi folders that vlc player is set as the default program to open them, the finder windows freezes and i have to relaunch it. also, when i click on get info for a particular avi folder, finder crashes again because it cannot preview the file in the window. does anyone know how i can resolve this issue?

I use VLC and there are some bugs with the latest version. Try an earlier version. WIth VLC, I keep the older versions for things like this.
For instance, the new VLC give the wrong time on a stereo audio file. In fact it gives double the correct time. I have had some other issues with VLC, but it's easy enough to remove and install.
If you make QT the default and then right-click the video and select VLC to play it, does that work?

Hello i am trying to read a media file byte by byte, build UDP datagram and send this over my machine on port 5000. I started VLC player to listen on port 5000 UDP, VLC does receive something but does not display anything.
here is my java code:
I read an .avi file by chunck of 1024 bytes:

Could you please explain me what can be wrong in this?

sebastienSince the VLC player gets the data, but does not do anything, then your protocol is wrong and/or missing commands and/or formatting-encoding of the stream.
You need to look at what and how the VLC player gets a stream. -

i have installed vlc player in my pc and transfered exe file to my mobile nokia 5130 using nokia pc suite .
exe file has been sucessfully transfered but when i try to open exe file in my nokia 5130 it says format not supported?

Applications are built for a specific hardware target. If you copy an application produced for one target over to another platform, you cannot expect it to work.

Airplay/Mirroring for video on VLC Player
I am expecting my mid-2013 27" iMac in the mail shortly but my question is can I watch VLC player via airplay/display mirroring on my TV? I will be running the latest version of Yosemite. Is this possible with the Apple TV (sound included), or is there an alternative to the apple TV for this purpose? I currently am using a thunderbolt-HDMI cable from my mid-2010 MacBook for this but would like to do this wirelessly.

VNC (build in Mac solution) need a VNC Server (source) and a VNC Client (destination) to work.
If you connect (screen sharing) two Mac's or a Mac and a PC you will have as well a sever and a client running.
As soon as your TV enables you to install a VNC Client and let you start it, you have what you want.
Apple TV receive a constant multicast stream from the source (e.g. your Mac) to display e.g. a video. Also ATV buffers a part of the stream to unpack the compressed data, decode video / audio and deliver screen and sound synchronous.
That is a total different technic compared to a screen sharing.
